5 Chicago Restaurant and Bar Openings to Know, October 2025 | Eater Chicago

"Chicago’s first silvana shop is open in Albany Park. What began as a pandemic baking project for husband-and-wife duo Katrina and Mharloe Requiron has grown into Crumbs.nd.Creams , where customers will find Filipino sandwich cookies in flavors like ube, mocha, Nutella, and buko pandan. The shop also offers flans." - Jeffy Mai

A Beloved Cream-Filled Cookie From The Philippines Is Coming to Jefferson Park | Eater Chicago

"Born out of pandemic-era nostalgia for Filipino sylvana (sometimes spelled “silvana”), this bakery began as Crumbs.nd.Creams in 2020 when the Requirons pivoted to making cream-stuffed, macaron-like cookies served cold with buttercream; the operation grew into a success and was featured on Good Morning America in September 2022. They will open a public-facing bakery in Jefferson Park by late April at 5914 W. Lawrence Avenue, sharing the space with Taste of Philippines and splitting sweet and savory. Crumbs.nd.Creams currently offers ten flavors—including ube, matcha, butter pecan, mocha, and flan—and plans to introduce more varieties over the summer, highlighting coconut in items like the coconut ham sylvana, which is inspired by a Filipino coconut-cream-and-brown-sugar spread that gives a “coco-caramelly” taste. Katrina Requiron is described as the heart of the operation (she develops recipes) while Mharloe calls himself the “backup dancer,” and the couple, both born in the Philippines and living in Algonquin, are excited to open where there is a larger Filipino population." - Ashok Selvam

Google
Came here last week on a whim and could not have been more pleasantly surprised. Crumb.nd.Creams is a family-owned bakery that makes authentic homemade silvanas. We got and LOVED the ube favor. Also highly recommend the original, flan, and butter pecan flavors but the ube was easily the star of the show.

Finally, tastes like home! We met the owner and she’s very nice! Most of all cookies are great!! Can't get enough of it. ♥️ UBE flan is to die for!! So addicting!

Google
Saw they had ube ice cream with sylvies (small sylvanas) and walked over immediately. SO pleased! Everything the others reviews say about the warm and welcoming atmosphere is true too!

I was so excited to see that Crumbs and Cream Sylvanna finally opened their store! We stopped by around 5ish on a regular day, and for the first time, I got to try their regular-sized sylvanna. I had only tried their mini sizes before through an online order, and they were absolutely delicious! The taste reminded me so much of the desserts I grew up with back home in the Philippines. I really wish them the best and hope this venture becomes a great success. One small suggestion would be to label the flavors—I had to ask about each one. They were out of the classic flavor that day, but I went with the flan sylvanna instead, and to my surprise, it tasted very close to the classic… maybe even better. I’m so glad I finally got to try it!

Perfect combination: sylvannas by Crumbs.nd.Creams and brewed kapeng barako. Tastes like home!

Google
Crumbs and Creams is such a gem! The staff was incredibly welcoming and took the time to explain everything in such a friendly way, which made the experience feel extra special. I tried the silvanas and they were absolutely delicious so light, crispy, and flavorful. The ube flan was another highlight, rich and perfectly balanced. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!

Google
Dangerously good sylvanas and ice cream. Went for ube ice cream and two sylvanas, finished it in 2 minutes and got four more. They are soooo crispy on the inside and not too sweet, perfect for a hot day, or any day really. My favorite is the ube and buko pandan. The best part is the staff who are so warm and lovely, you feel like a VIP in there.

Google
One of my biggest regrets in life is only getting 3 small ones on my first visit! Luckily only 10 min walk from home. Definitely earned a return visit. Glad to have another great addition to a very diverse food neighborhood

Yelp
Discovered this place awhile back. Sylvanas i call it a filipino cookie. But to be more descriptive, it is consist of crunchy meringue cookies filled with creamy buttercream filling and coated with crunchy crumbs. Definitely coming back whenever im in the area. I love Mokalit and The Classic flavor but there are also so many flavors to choose from. I got some positive views from my friend who has never tried this before and he loved the Butter Pecan, 2 become 1 (custard), and blueberry if im not mistaken. Service is great, place is small but there is an area to sit and hang out. Street parking just fyi. Happy eating

Yelp
CREAM OF THE CROP Support this local , private owned business that offers a popular ( yet, unique to the States) Filipino treat, ready to eat or can be ordered for a gathering. Their signature Sylvanas really threw me for a loop upon tasting them. I think I had a preconceived idea of what they would be like. But in my mind they actually tasted different than what they looked like. The small ones were bite-sized. And looked kinda like a Macaroon to me. When you bite it it's actually very light and soft and airy. It resembles a wafer texture. The little wafer sandwich cookie had buttercream in it. But the butter cream was super light and not dense at all. When you think of buttercream, you think of cakes and super sweetness. But this was opposite. It was so light and barely sweet. Because they are so light you could probably pop a bunch of these and that could be dangerous The ube flan was also more dense than I thought it would be. You tend to think of flan as gelatinous yet creamy and coated in a nice sweet liquid. This one was dense and lightly sweet and was more of a créme bruleé consistency and taste. Overall the products are light. Since these desserts are not very sweet, they can probably be eaten at all times of the day. Unfortunately you can't sample the Sylvanas , but you can buy 3 minis for $5 to give them a whirl

Yelp
We went on opening day so lots of people. The surprise was there was a buffet of Filipino food for their guests and it was free! The space is cute and what was amazing was they only sold sylvanas - in 2 sizes and assortment of flavors. We got the assorted in a box and about four large ones. The Sylvanas were delicious! Creamy but not overly sweet and just brings back memories. Good service with ample staff. Street parking is available.

Yelp
Crumbs.nd.Creams is a new treats emporium located on Pulaski just a wee bit north of Lawrence. This is now "Chicago's Home of Sylvanas" and we'll get to that in a second. This location was formerly a mediocre Middle Eastern restaurant a few years ago and then a never-open consignment shop, so my lovely wife and I were excited to see this new place have a Grand Opening in our 'hood this weekend. We have enjoyed Filipino cuisine over the years, but neither of us have tried a sylvana prior to today. The sylvana is a sandwich cookie with two crispy round wafers, a buttercream filling, and a light coating of cookie crumbs. Crumbs.nd.Creams was sold out of the regulation-size sylvanas when we sauntered into its new store on the afternoon of Day 2, so we ordered three "Sylbies" (miniature versions of sylvanas) to try different flavors. We both agree that the MATCHAlap was our favorite, with a nice green tea cream filling. We also liked the MOKAlit (chocolate-coffee cream) and "2Become1" with a flan flavor. The cookies are sweet but not over-the-top sweet, so they will satisfy your sweet tooth without knocking them out. An order of three Sylbies costs $5, so not a bad gateway to the world of Sylvanas.

Yelp
I love seeing a new business pop up in our neighborhood, and Crumbs nd Creams is a very welcome addition! We stopped in today, their second day open, and were greeted by a friendly woman at the counter, who was then joined by a cheerful counterpart who was at the register. Their enthusiasm for the brand and excellent customer service stood out in a big way. It was later in the day, so their large Sylvanas were sold out. That worked in our favor as we opted for the 3 minis for $5. We certainly had a fantastic trio, with MATCHAlap being our favorite. If you favor matcha-flavored fare, you must try this! We also purchased the MOKAlit and 2Become1, which is inspired by leche flan. Their buttercream is outstanding and really stands out with the 2Become1. If you aren't too fond of coffee-flavored desserts, you may still like the MOKAlit, as its coffee-flavor is subtle. The interior is an intimate, inviting space with some merch for sale and a small seating area. I look forward to working through their menu!

Yelp
Very exciting to have a home for sylvanas in Chicago. Love the flavors & the variety I just wish it had more bite to it and a little more texture which is the typical sylvanas back home. But overall, happy that they opened one and hope they succeed!

Yelp
Was not impressed. Did not taste anything like my memory. I will give a star for the effort.

Yelp
Great cookies; awesome flan; cute space. Folks should definitely drop by and try this place!

Yelp
I'm Filipino and I've never seen sylvanas before but they are delicious here! I tried the mini versions of the original, the mocha and the pandan. I'm gonna go for the full size next time. The interior is cute and the staff seems lively.
