The location was easy to find with plenty of parking, which was a great start. The restaurant itself has a cozy and welcoming vibe with lots of seating available. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel comfortable right away. The food was overall pretty tasty — the turkey had good flavor but could have used a bit more seasoning and sauce. The Nutella and strawberry pastry was nice, though it didn’t have much filling inside, which was a little disappointing but still enjoyable. The only real concern was with food-handling practices. While I appreciated that the staff wore gloves, they were using the same pair to handle money, open doors, and take orders. It would be a great improvement to switch gloves between tasks for better food safety. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with a few areas that could be easily improved.

Great place. The Oxtail is a hit!! Nice and tender. Very well cooked. It's only served Wednesdays and Saturdays, but it would be nice to have it every day. It's delicious.

So, so good!! When I say we have Porto's at home, I mean that but better! Cuba Bakery is a wonderful hole in the wall tucked away in a shopping plaza. They have piping hot ready made food & pastries ready for you to sink your teeth into. We came several days in a row because they're just that good! I actually don't have photos of all the food because we scarfed it down so quickly. The ropa vieja plates, lechon, and sandwiches are hefty and filling! You can't go wrong with a side of yucca. The pastries are all perfect. Their empanadas have a light exterior with flavorful fillings, the potato balls are seasoned with well with rich ground meat. The guava pastries are flakey, buttery and not too sweet. The piece de resistance for us is their Italian Lemoncream cake slice. It is GREAT. It's not sickeningly sweet, has a cake that is dense yet fluffy, and a lemon flavor that is pronounced but not tart. The cream inside is fantastic. Very much worth swinging by for a quick bite. They're always busy, so if there's something you really want, you should call! Staff is really nice & work quickly!

El Cubano sandwich is amazing! ¡Muy rico! It’s absolutely huge too. We can’t wait to come back and try some different foods. The pastries and desserts look stunning! The staff were all super friendly and hard working. Fantastic and authentic restaurant!

First time here. This is place was absolutely fantastic, very tasty and reasonably priced! The El Cubano was HUGE! The portions were very nice. You definitely get your money's worth. The rice was lovely, fluffy and delicious. The fried Yucca was perfectly fried,crunchy and super good. There are also baked goods galore that also look very tasty. I can't wait to come back for more! Thanks again!

Today, we had breakfast here- first time visitors to this area. We tried the croquettes, empanadas, breakfast sandwich, pastries, and all of it was delicious. The empanadas were exceptional though! Sweet and crispy on the outside. Perfection.

The food and baked goods here are amazing. That staff makes you feel welcome. I wish I could eat red meat so I can get the beef ribs

Chicharrón was pure fat no meat whatsoever, the congri rice was hard and old and so were the tostones I couldn’t even chew or bite into it. Sad they used to be good not sure what has changed. I won’t come back. Not worth the fake reviews nice try.

GREAT FOOD!!! Cuba Bakery & Cafe Every time I hit this spot, they HIT. THE. SPOT! Great service in a cozy atmosphere. Ox Tails... Melt in your mouth and full of flavors Beef Ribs... Tender and juicy with a smoky sweetness Tamales... Creamy masa, not too dense or dry Tiramisu... Fluffy and decadent at the same time The selection of pastries, cheesecake, empanadas and patties is always fresh and delicious. Some of the best food I've ever had. Period.

Came in here for a late breakfast, early lunch. Got one each chorizo and spinach empanadas, plaintains, giant cinnamon thing, beef roll, and yucca roll along with two coffees. (Later got a bombon for the road.) Staff were super friendly and quick. Food was as all delicious, particularly the beef roll. Super flaky. The empanadas were also really nice and the cinnamon stick could be desert and soft biscotti for two. Coffee was sweet and tasty. The bombon was an espresso dripped into condensed milk and really got me going. Sat next to two tourists from Miami, and while one was super jaded and said this was like what you'd get in Miami Beach (said derisively, but I'll take it!) the other said the empanadas specifically where like her grandma made. Would def go for ribs next time. Saw a few old timers noshing on them, and they may or may not have raised their elbows in a defensive position upon noticing my lustful eyes. Typical Aurora strip mall ambiance. Clean, welcoming. I'll be back.

Sooo good! I'm from CA - and their guava cheese rolls are similar to Porto's. I loved the chicken potato stew dish. Their empanadas are also really good! Haven't tried their desserts in the cold case yet but their warm food is worth a visit!

We tried the Cuatro Leches, Citrus Cake, Red Velvet Cake, and dark chocolate cake here and all were delicious, but the citrus cake was our favorite. I am coming back in the future to try more of their desserts!

The location has gotten a bit bigger since the first time I was here years ago. Sunday Morning Breakfast 3 eggs, ham, potato sticks (yes the canned crunchy ones they were yummie) and some really yummy long bread and coffee or tea. This was a lot of breakfast for about 10 bucks. There were a few other breakfast selections, but honestly, I couldn't read what they were. They will bring it out to you once it's done ur you order at the counter. The cases are loaded with things for every taste. Cookies, cakes, pastries, rolls, buns everything looked fresh and delicious. Plenty of parking as it's in a strip mall.

Cannot wait to come back here and try more items. This time was mainly the empanadas and also got a sandwich, pan con lechon. The empanadas!!!! Ropa vieja was a flavor bomb.... The rest were really good as well. Love the variety! Also a must get is their bread. They would be great for banh mi or po boys

My family brought me here. You walk in and immediately get hit with the smell of spices and good music. The staff were nothing but genuine smiles and were very patient and helpful with recommendations. The food was so flavorful. I would definitely recommend the Ropa vieja or the sweet beef rib. The meat just falls off the bone. Their desserts and sides to take home looked delicious as well. None of the food looked like it had been sitting out long. Will definitely be coming back!

I didn't know this place existed for the longest time, even living within a mile of it. I'm glad we fixed that. The staff is always friendly, always willing to help. The food is great, I have yet to have a bad meal there. But really, I love the desserts. Guava and cheese pastries, yum. And I love the Tres Leches. The sandwiches are great, I love the Cubano, but the Pan con Lechon is delicious too.

Stopped by on a Saturday morning around 8:30 and there were a few people inside eating and 2 people in line so much wait wasn't long. Since it was my first time, I wanted to try everything. They have all the popular cuban pastries but I got a few of the cheese rolls, guava cheese danishes and potato balls. I also order the egg and back breakfast sandwich (it is huge, like 2 people and maybe 3 could share one). Their sandwiches are made fresh and soooo good. They also make their Cubano coffee fresh. It is so strong and rich and smooth. Everything I ordered was delicious. So happy to be close to this place. After I ordered there was a line of 10 people, so people get there early to avoid lines. I havent tried the hot food yet but it looks and smells so good. Their staff is so friendly and welcoming.

We took a trip to Aurora because everyone kept telling us there's such great food. We sure found it at the Cuban Bakery and Cafe. It reminded me of my time in Miami in so many ways. From the kind staff to the upbeat music playing in the background-I immediately felt welcome. The greatness continues as you select from a choice of tradition Cuban dishes, ready to go. I chose to get a Cuban sandwich-it was divine. But don't stop there-you have to try the desserts-we got cheesecake, questos, and more! Oh you can't really say you love Cuban food unless you wash it down with a Cuban coffee! Kudos to this establishment!!

Food: Big plates for like $13. It's easily two meals or more. The chicken in some kind of sauce is so freaking taste! Better than the plain one my BF got. It comes with potatoes that absorbed all the flavor from the stew the chicken was cooked in. And you can choose which rice. I got the black rice that has some meat in it. Very flavorful. And you get one side. My BF loved the smashed and fried to a crisp tostones. Drinks: Only had water from the tap, which surprised them. We had to wait for them to go in the back to get little cups of water they gave us. We didn't ask for refills. Service: Fast counter service. It's all made and sitting there in chafing dishes staying warm. But it does take a minute for the tostones to be made fresh - which is good. You don't want old ones, I know. Couldn't eat it all and tried later. They are starchy and get weird when cooled. Ambiance: Lots of seating. Nice pictures on the walls.

When living in Aurora, I visited Cuba Bakery & Cafe on more than one occasion. They have WONDERFUL Cuban pastries! The staff was always friendly every time I visited. Also, it was usually busy for every visit so plan accordingly. I love a good Cuban Sandwich and ordered it every time. I love how they serve it with the small fries scattered across the sandwich. That seems very traditional. The dining area of the restaurant is clean with plenty of seating. It may take a while for your food to be ready. Lunch seems to be the busiest time of day. You may also place an order for pickup. That may be the best option to avoid waiting a while. Also, Cuba Bakery & Cafe is located off Mississippi newscast Chambers. I would definitely return here again. I tried one of their pastries with guava and it was good. Again, fantastic bakery! If you're looking for good Cuban food, I recommend Cuba Bakery & Cafe. I also love how locals seem to frequent this place. Also a great option if you're a tourist and looking for something off the beaten path. Hope your enjoy your visit!

I started my previous review raving about their cheese pastries. Not sure what's happened between now and then, but it's not good. My last order of cheese pastries was missing the filling. Every. Single. One. I paid good money for these and for there to be NO cream cheese filling in every single one I bought is unacceptable. I mean, that's the best part! Honestly, it's been a hit and miss situation when I go here. Sometimes, it's hitting, but when it's missing, it's quite disappointing.

Favorite Cuban spot in Denver! I drive all the way from Golden to get my fix from here, they are a local family owned joint and mostly speak all Spanish there. My go to is the beef short rib special with white rice and plantains! Do not be surprised if you see a long line when you go inside it can be quite busy but it moves fast. Speaking Spanish will help you move through even faster! My favorite part is the fresh bakery items and empanadas...always have to grab a few of those for later. It is worth the drive, trust me!

This place used to be a place of pride after having moved here and discovered it. As both my wife and I are products of Cuban parents, we were excited and often ordered from here as it reminded us of a taste of home. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. I have people of different Spanish cultures argue with me that the food is still good but. They. Just. Don't. Get. It. It is no longer "Cuban" so sure, might be a good spot still but it has become an embarrassment to my culture. So as a Cuban, I absolutely do not recommended as it is not even Cuban owned or operated but yeah, if you like Italian food cooked by a completely different culture then you might like this stuff that might sometimes pass off as decent Hispanic food with blends of Mexican, Puerto Rican, and who knows what else, it is just not authentic Cuban and that's coming from a Cuban who's had better and more authentic Cuban food in Berlin, Germany, out of all places. Hope it improves again one day or changes its name to reflect what it has become until then, it will no longer be a place I or my family recommends to you even those with that blandest of pallets.

Clean place with friendly staff. Lots of variety. The pastries were light and flaky. The desserts were way too sweet for us. Cloyingly sweet. We couldn't take more than a bite of each. We had not tried Cuban crème brûlée before- it's like vanilla pudding. Loose & xtra sweet. If you like extremely sweet treats.. This is your place. We going back to try the cooked food next!

The best "ethnic" foods in Colorado are in Aurora, and Cuban food is no exception to this rule. Cuba bakery and cafe has consistently been one of my favorite restaurants in the greater Denver area. Inside is bright and airy with a local community feel that makes you feel like you could belong. The cafeteria style display is where you place your order for sandwiches, plates, and espresso beverages. For plates, what you see is what you can order. The next set of displays are the savory pastries. After that, the sweet pastries. I like a lot of foods from here, but my #1 favorite items are black beans over white rice and Cuban bread. These humble items can be found in many places, but no one makes it as good as this restaurant out of all the Cuban places I've been to so far (SoCal, Orlando, and Denver). Other items I really like: Cubano sandwich, beef rib, ox tails, seafood rice, empanadas. Some dishes that seem to be hit or miss (depending on the day I guess?): lechon, ropa, and picadillo. Yea, I know... lechon, ropa, and picadillo are probably what people are looking for and judging Cuban restaurants by, as far as dishes go. I'll be brutally honest. Not the best lechon, ropa, and picadillo I ever had, though possibly the best in Denver because Denver sets a super low bar. Just try the other items I really like (trust me). The cheese pastry and the guava pastry and the guava cheese pastry are so yummy. I didn't care for their cakes as much, but they do the trick if you're in the mood. Cafecito or cortadito are wonderful to go with dessert. Very strong espresso drinks, and if you have them add sugar, it's very sweet. Portions are enormous, especially for the price these days. They're always friendly in there, and hard-working. I enthusiastically recommend cuba bakery and cafe.

After making my mid-morning doctor's appointment nearby, I was hungry for my first meal for the day (it wasn't like I was fasting for my appointment; I simply didn't have time to eat anything before my appointment.) I got on Maps (like I usually do) to search for an intriguing place to get food at and spotted this Cuban eatery on it. I wasted no time to rush to it. I just like places that sell empanadas (PERIOD)!! Now I have conquered Argentinean ones to Columbian ones to Nicaraguan ones to El Salvadorian ones to Peruvian ones, it was time that I experienced the Cuban kind again. At the store, there was a display of different types of savory and sweet empanadas. Oh boy, I'm in trouble! I wish I had the stomach the size of an elephant or horse to eat all of them. While I was being wishy washy as to which ones to choose the lady who assisted me was very patient with me. She let me take the time. I decided to go with the safest route: Spinach one. But for my second one, I chose the Guava Cheese. I also wanted to choose from the Poultry section, so I got me the Chicken (stew type thing with potatoes in it.) I was really shocked as to how generous this lady was. All the poultry stuff goes by the weight. When she put one piece of chicken leg and several pieces of potatoes in the container, I asked her to put some juice/sauce in it. She said she needed to weigh it first before she put the juice/sauce. In other words, she excluded the weight of the juice/sauce and priced it first then she poured plenty of juice/sauce into it! No store/restaurant does this especially in this tough high inflation economy. This store deeply cares about the customers and their needs. This kind of good/kind deed/act although minor and subtle is significant which didn't escape my notice. Between the two empanadas, I must vote for the Guava Cheese one. This was delicious. The Chicken stew was also delicious. The chicken was well cooked in the sauce; the meat was super tender. And the sauce was well seasoned with just the RIGHT amount of salt. It was definitely cooked to the perfection! This place is another great discovery.

Finishing my review draft from years ago! Sorry it took so long guys. But this was where I had my first authentic Cuban sandwich. It was life changing to say the least. Never have I had one of this level since. It has been my standard for cuban sandwiches, sorry not sorry. Pretty excited I have friends moving to Denver, gives me the chance to enjoy this hole in the wall of a place again!

I came here with a friend and was slightly disappointed by the breakfast. I tried the ham croquetas, pan cubano con queso and espresso. The espresso was good and the pan cubano was just as I expected but the croquetas were not crispy. My friend ordered a ton of pastries to try as well as a cubano and most everything was not tasty. It seemed like most customers were visiting for lunch so I will have to check out their non-breakfast options and hope those are better!

I came here with a Cuban friend from Florida and we both really enjoyed the flavors here! The portions were pretty big. She loved it and said it reminded her of home. The women serving us were super sweet, patient and attentive. I'd definitely recommend trying this place out

Trash bakery goods... flan tasted burnt and had a chunky texture. chocolate cake and carrot cake had a super weird consistency. Good service though. Even though I didn't eat there the ambiance seemed decent.

We came for the pastries! So many hot, ready to eat pastries. We tried the guava pastry, guava and cheese pastry, beef empanada, and ropa vieja empanada. Everything was fresh and very delicious. Our favorites were the beef empanada and the guava pastry. No complaints! I was also happy to come here on a Sunday afternoon. They've previously been closed on Sundays, but looks like they've updated their hours and are now open everyday. The staff is very friendly and was nice enough to answer questions my husband had about the menu. I'd be happy to return to try more items. Definitely recommend.

Upon arrival, you can smell the bakery. There are so many options available and everything tasted so good. My sisters and I decided to visit Cuba Bakery after watching the baker and the beauty. The empanadas are huge for what you pay for and they do not shy away from the fillings. If you are getting pastries with a bunch of people, you should just get one of everything and split it in half or thirds so you can eat the menu. We came in wanting to eat the Cuban sandwich but it was sold out or they were out of ingredients which was sad. So I'll need to return to try the sandwich. There's a dine in area as well. Need to return to try the desserts.

This place is the definition of a hidden gem. It sits in a strip mall off the side of a highway and from the outside there isn't much to see that could give you any indication of the deliciousness that you'll encounter inside. The food is authentic, the portions are big, the prices are low, and the service was both quick and friendly. Order and pay at the counter, wait for your name, then dig in. Before you pay look to your left. There are a few cases full of all sorts of pastries, cakes, grab and go items that you might want to add to your check. Some good stuff there so don't miss it. I had the Cuban sandwich, some plantains, and a fried empanada. The sandwich was huge, the plantains perfect, and the empanada was fried. Would order all of them again. Overall a solid experience and a good, cheap meal.

Run... yes, I said run to the Cuba Bakery & Cafe in Aurora. Okay, make it a destination for sure. Without a doubt, the best cuban sandwich you will have in the Denver metro area. This little hidden gem in a tiny Aurora strip mall is just outstanding. When you want in you are greeted by the long cases of fresh pastries, savory empanadas and an array of buffet items. Hold the phone, what to pick? Right? Well, please please do not leave without having the original Cuban sandwich big enough to feed 3 people (well almost). The most delicious at $8.95 it is a steal! Okay, pick out a nice savory empanada. Lovely pastry and fillings of your choice. Now that you are overstuffed, tackle the vast selection of homemade pastries. So hard to choose which one, so take a couple home! I had the cinnamon twist which is as long as your arm. They also have a buffet with assorted meats, rice and veggies. I would love to try that sometime too, but too hard not to order the Cuban! You're still reading this? Your not in your car yet? Yes, you will thank me later!

This is a hidden gym. You don't start from a small space and expand in the same place without doing something good!! I have seen this place grow and you know what? The taste of the food has not changed! The bakery is absolutely amazing. My fav hands down is the cafe con leche. Goodness!!!! So damn good!!!! You want some homemade Cuban food and coffee, this is the place to go!!! Those cigar smokers can sit outside and sip on a coffee and smoke a stogie. Thank you for always making this place feel like home.

This has to be one of my favorite spots! Every single dish is so well made. I've come a few times and not once have they disappointed. The Cubano sandwich is a classic, very filling and best of all so delicious. They offer an array of hot foods & sides that are also to die for! They have daily specials that I 100% recommend that everyone tries. On Sundays they have an oxtail dish that is so unique and packed with flavors. It's really getting hard to choose what to order with so many great options lol Ooo & I cannot forget, they also have a bakery section where you can get your favorite Cuban sweets but also those famous potato balls and empanadas. YUUUM! A great spot to try out. The food is great but the staff is also such a delight!

I want to come back to this place in a few months and give them the benefit of the doubt that I came in on a really rough day. Why do I say this? I moved here from New York. I am a native born Dominican and I cook at home 90% of the time. However my friends were telling me about this Cuban spot that I just have to try because it's got all my Home favorites and I was in a rush and didn't feel like cooking that day so I tried the place. I was so sad that I went to order Yuca; one of my favorite roots. If you don't know what it is, think of a potato cousin but it's more bland, anyway you need to try it to understand but it's a delicacy in our cultures or if you are familiar with the Caribbean. They had most of the treats I was looking for like Cuban bread and some foods, but it seems most things were dried up in the pans or had been sitting there for a couple of days. No thank you. I need to walk in, and I need to hear music and smell fresh food, or at least look at fresh food that looks like it was just cooked and looks like it's inviting me to eat it! I need to walk into this place and feel like OK there's a big Momma or big Poppa in the kitchen handling & holding it down! I need to see that the place is wiped down and smells clean because every Cuban home or Puerto Rican or Dominican home that I have ever walked into prides them self in being so fresh and clean, smelling like fresh soapy floors and walls and glasses... and having the best hot made food ready for you to close your eyes and enjoy to your hearts delight. I will be visiting again because like I said, maybe I just caught them on the worst day ever and with my luck you know this is what happened but I'm definitely coming back to try it again and I really hope to see the beautiful Cuban café that I was promised! The real deal. It's as if you step inside a Havana cafe. Most of the food is served cafeteria style and others are made to order in the kitchen such as the HUGE sandwiches. The pastries are good but pricey. I look forward to going again.

SO good. We were on a road trip and stopped in for Cuban coffees and a Cubano sandwich. However, when we got there, the daily specials looked and smelled amazing, so we went with them instead of the sandwich - oxtail and masitas (fried pork). We got one with black rice and one with yellow rice, along with plantains, a guava & cheese pastry, a ham & cheese empanada and a Tuxedo bomb (kiddo inhaled it). All good and a very sweet staff helped us. Many locals were there for lunch. This place is an absolute gem.

Hands DOWNNN a unique hidden gem within aurora!! We have been looking for a place that doesn't oversell, gives a REALLLLL good price on their food, and has a grandma cooking in the back!! This is hands down one of the best holes in the wall places you've been missing out on! I wish I got a picture of my husbands custom made plate with a rice of his choice, a protein, and a side. It was SOOOOO good. We are honestly wanting to come back here soon!! Like within the week soon

One of my favorite places over here, it's one of the places I miss the most living over in Englewood now. Love being able to come in, get a good cafecito and some delicious baked goods. The empanadas are all a hit, but be sure not to overlook the Jamaican patties and the guava delights. The guava and cheese is SO good. Always expect lunch to be busy. It's cafeteria style where you choose your rice, side, and meat. There are also sandwiches you can order. Quite a few tables to sit at with napkin dispensers at each. The prices are also very reasonable for the amount of food you get, and the staff is always fantastic.

Im so happy i found this spot. Had a Cuban sandwich and it was HUGE! Easily made for two people. I will be back to try the hot foods. The wait is a little long but worth it. Must try! Update: came back two days later because I was near by and got the hot foods...omg!!!! It's so good. Got rice and beans, pork, yuca, and plantains. My husband got rice, ribs, and the soup of the day which was ajiaco. Also got some pastries and the guava pastry was so hot and fresh. Love this spot...might have to work here just to get free food or they will take all my money.

Just walking in takes me back to Miami and I'm so thankful for that! Cuba Bakery has been on my radar for quite some time but I don't live too close. I was lucky to try it once when I friend brought it our way, but had always been eager to venture to the storefront myself. We were recently in the neighborhood and made a pitstop. Croquetas, ropa vieja, Cuban sandwiches, rice and beans, arroz con leche, coffee... They have everything I crave and more. To eat, we've tried a Cuban sandwich and their baked goods, which all rival any Cuban bakery in Miami. My go-to items are the tequeños and croquetas. Of course, I couldn't leave without a coffee and the cortadito really hit the spot. There's plenty of seating inside but none outside that I saw. It's located within a shopping plaza so parking is easy to find. It wasn't crowded when we stopped in so we were in and out pretty quickly. I would definitely dine-in in the future though! So thankful to have found this place and will definitely be back the next time I'm craving any sort of Cuban food!
