Where to find the best Cuban food in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Located near UNLV, Cuba Cafe features easy Cuban dining for students and tourists on the Strip. The restaurant specializes in Cuban tapas, such as ceviche, lamb chops, and tostones rellenos. True to its name, the medianoche (a sandwich served on egg bread and filled with pork, ham, cheese, and pickles) is an ideal late-night meal that goes perfectly with a pitcher of the restaurant’s fresh mojitos." - Krista Diamond

Google
I'm a Cuban from Miami. The churrasco here is not only delicious but huge as well! The croquetas were oddly shaped but tasted really good too. Great food, better service, thank you Orlando!

Google
A friend recommended the Cuba Cafe so we went for our first time and it was delicious!

Google
Absolutely spectacular and delicious Cuban food! We just had lunch here and I can honestly say it’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed such authentic flavors from my country. Every bite took me straight back home. The dishes were perfectly prepared, full of flavor, and made with so much love. If you’re looking for real Cuban cuisine in Las Vegas, this is the place. I felt right at home from the moment I walked in. Highly recommended!

Google
Hands down the best Cuban food in Las Vegas. Atmosphere is inviting and fun, prices are reasonable and serving sizes are great.. this is a local favorite of mine.

Google

**Update June 20th We haven't been here for 5 years. Now I remember why and weren't not going to return here anymore. We ordered Lechon and Mahi Mahi, both were bland. My friend told the waiter about how bland the food was and he offered to replace the dish with a beef dish, which had slightly more flavor. ***** 2018: Good place no far of Strip or University of Las Vegas. Delicious food. We asked some dishes for share and they help us divide in two dishes, thanks!. Delicious coffee too.

Yelp
I stopped coming here about 5 years ago. Food quality had gone way down. We decided to try it again a month ago. The food is now outstanding!!! The portions are far larger and the quality is amazing. I had the Bistec Palomillo. Delicious meat and plenty of it. The moros was fresh. I took a Cuban sandwich home. Had it the enxt day. Best Cubano I ever ate. We returned again last week. I had the Carne con Papas. A tamale , Yuca and Pappas Relleos. The meat melted in your mouth and the gravy was rich and delicious. The Tamale was great as was the papas rellenos. I think the place is under new management. Everything is just excellent now. Best Cuban food I have had. Great service also. Dave C

Yelp
Love the Cuban sandwich. Appetizer platter. Margaritas were good. Cute place. It's grown since I was there 15 years ago. Staff was friendly.

Yelp
Today was my second time at Cuba cafe. First time, 2 months ago, we went on the weekend for dinner and salsa dancing. Food and service was good. But then I received the bill and was about to leave a generous tip when I noticed they already inflated the bill by $30. Don't know if they automatically added it a mandatory tip, but I was never advised anything, and there was still an area on the bill to add a tip. Today we gave them a second chance. Went during happy hour (half price cocktails) and ordered a drink and media noche sandwiches. Worst sandwich we've ever had with old mushy bread. They were inedible. Cocktail was half price, but they inflated the sandwiches by $3 over the menu price per sandwich. Please check your bills carefully for these sneaky inflations! Won't be going back there after being ripped off twice.

Yelp
I grew up in North Jersey and I was surrounded by Cubans/dominicans and Puerto Ricans so I know my stuff. Moved to vegas and was craving Cuban food and omg this was unexpected. Food is light not salty and perfect. Customer service is excellent and quaint ambience. Thank you for existing everybody needs to know about this place. The bomb so happy this will be our monthly go to

Yelp
Located next to my favorite chicken spot, I stopped by here for a Cubano sandwich for myself and a coworker. The service was good, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. Ordered the Cubano sandwich, and it came with fries. It was delcious, and my co-worker also enjoyed it. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
On way home from trip to San Diego, my son picked me up at the airport. I said "Lunch?" And he said "Cuba Café". We had not been there in awhile. Adrian was server; friendly and efficient. My Seafood Pasta Special was excellent. Roger hadn't had a Cuban sandwich in awhile and devoured half. Other half is for dinner. I would say "Best Cuban food in Las Vegas".

Yelp
After a year, I returned to see my dream source of Cuban food slightly diminished. I had brought my parents with me this time and, sadly, they ended up not eating very much and going somewhere else. My dad ordered the ropa vieja and it came out cold, as if just removed from the fridge. He asked for the food to warmed up and it returned with just the beef warmed up. It was obvious they removed the beef and microwaved it. The rice and beans were still fridge cold. My mother ordered the tasting plate and, while 1/2 the food was warm, not hot, the other half was also cold. Of course, I ordered my Cuban sandwich. It was anemic compared to my sandwich a year ago. I had to life the bread to make sure there was any meat in the sandwich. Fortunately, for me at least, the sandwich and fries came out hot. We wanted mojitos but were told they don't serve alcohol. I don't know if they lost their liquor license or didn't have a bartender that night. The restaurant was dead aside from one couple eating next to us. I hope this was a one off. I truly loved my meal there last year. Ironically, our driver home was Cuban. We had asked him his favorite place to go. He said he had never eaten at Cuban Cafe before but he did mention another place. Maybe I will try them next time. Cuban Cafe, please, get back on track!

Yelp
The food and the service were perfect. The restaurant was decorated with pictures of Cuba and it was very clean.

Yelp
I've always wanted to try a Cuban spot and I'm so glad I found one! The Cuban dishes were surprisingly simple however very delicious. I'm no expert in Cuban cuisine however to me, this style of cuisine comes off as a humble culinary style. The ingredients used seem to be very flavorful and neutral vs other styles of Hispanic cuisine which are spicy or robust. Also, the dishes and drinks remind me of something tropical. The dishes are served with plantains and for cocktails there's tons of different pina colada or mojito type drinks. At night there's a bar that is open, and I was told on Friday and Saturday nights the dance floor is open with a live band and singer starting at 9pm. What I can tell you is that if you're looking for strong drinks, this is the place for you. Even the tropical fruity drinks were pretty stiff so there's no skimping on alcohol here!

Yelp
A hidden gem that I recommend trying at least once. The oxtail was delicious and even got a bite of my father's Lechon Asado dish - it was just a wee bit salty. I was especially impressed with the Iced Americano - very tasty!

Yelp
A taste of Cuba! Delicious food. I had the ropa vieja and it was very tasty. Their yuca with ajo is also delicious. Plenty of seating and parking.

Yelp
Food was good, service was adequate, price was reasonable. Will continue to repeat business.

Yelp
This place feels like I'm back at Calle Ocho in Miami, but without the 8th Street Latinas. ;) Once you sit down at a table, the waiter brings you a basket of piping warm bread with butter - I love it! I should have ordered a Cuban coffee, which would be perfect with the bread. The Vaca Frita here is awesome. The shredded beef was soft, but crispy at the same time, and full of onions. I was skeptical at first about the looks of the salad that came with the Vaca Frita (just because the spots I goto in Miami don't usually serve this dish with salad), but the dressing was surprisingly good - it was sweet and tangy. I'm a fan. The fried bananas were sweeter and softer than what I typically experience at Cuban restaurants, and I appreciate that! It was my first time trying Mofongo - it was really good too! Can't wait to come back here.

Patty F.

Yelp
First time trying this place. It was not busy at all but took a while for the waitress to come to our table. We ordered some mojitos that she made herself, and honestly, for the price, you would think they would taste like alcohol. I had to ask if they really had alcohol in them. The food prices are very reasonable and are large portions. They food was really good. I was just very disappointed in the drinks. Not a place you want to have drinks at.
google avatar

Mia M.

Yelp
The food was really good. My aunt ordered everything for us because this is her spot. I got the oxtail plate. So happy with that. The plate honestly could've been shared by 2 people. The plantain was good. There was 2 kinds. One that was like a chip with the garlic butter sauce. Wow. Then the moist sweeter ones. The service was great. Its a cute little spot. I'd go back.

Yelp
A Vegas hidden gem!! From the moment you walk in, you're grated with a smile, the food, (which was delicious from the first bite to the last, you can tell it'smade with heart) topped off with the enjoyable atmosphere and music. Most definitely a place to go to again, ... and again.

Zoraya G.

Yelp
Great food and ambience. On Saturday night they have an orchestra playing salsa music. Customer service excepcional.

Yelp
I never write reviews but I have to for this restaurant! The food was amazing! old owner just came back and business is back to being amazing just like it was in the good old day! deff recommend to stop by, the staff is amazing and the food is delicious!!

Yelp
I should have read David R's review posted a month ago before going to this restaurant for dinner yesterday. I ordered the Masitas de Puerco Fritas. The pork and the rice were cold. It seemed like I had food that was left over from lunch or the plate was sitting for 30 minutes after it was made. There weren't many people dining at the restaurant so they weren't busy. Also, the pork was very salty. All in all, a very unpleasant dining experience. Needless to say, I didn't finish my entree. The maduros we ordered on the side weren't too flavorful either. We love Cuban food but we won't be coming back to this restaurant.
google avatar

Jenny R.

Yelp
I work very close to Cuba Cafe and have driven past it many times but finally got to try it yesterday. The ambiance was lovely, the service was quick and friendly, and the food is delicious!!! I am Cuban so I'm always looking for authentic, good Cuban food. This is definitely one of the better Cuban establishments I've been to outside of Miami. We ordered the sampler platter and a medianoche sandwich. All super delicious! And the warm, fresh Cuban bread with butter that they bring to the table is so divine. I can't wait to go back and try more things off the menu!
google avatar

Pinky P.

Yelp
Our server was very nice but a bit embarrassed because several items were not available. I ordered a lemonade which memo says "limonada cubana con menta". I got a big glass of water with artificial lime juice and sugar. Tell how this was worth $6.95 and a beer only $4.99? We immediately got our appetizer which was fufu. It was warm not even hot and it tastes like it was old. My entree had no flavor to it and again certain portions tasted cold. Folks no one wants to eat microwaved old food especially for the prices. You'll get better quality food up the street at cubanos cafe or even better cubanidad. This was a big fat no for me and I will never return.

Yelp
Anything as tasty as a Cuban sandwich can be the most gratifying meal, if it's made correctly. I've had Cuba Café on my list for awhile but never got to them until recently. The restaurant is on Tropicana near Eastern and Spencer, and is situated in a small plaza with limited parking. Inside there's table seatings to accommodate for groups, and for those who wants a booth or bar. Their menu has a lot of great items to try and there's also a good selection for vegetarians. They have offerings for tapas, side dish, salads, an assortment of sandwiches, grilled meats, seafood, and they make pastas too! I came on Friday and it was getting as close to busy! They had me seated next to a big group table at the back. My appetite was just wanting a light dinner, so I opted for a Caesar Salad ($6.99) and a Chicken Sandwich ($11.95). Each table is served with a basket of complimentary bread. It took them around 30 minutes before I received my order. The sandwich is a huge serving and I could only eat half. Chicken was a little dry though and there's barely sauce, and the fries that came with it was not even hot or crispy. The only thing that's quite appetizing was the fresh Caesar salad. As for beverage, they offer coffee and beer, specialty cocktails, tequila and wine. I tried the Mango Batido ($6.25), it's a Cuban style milkshake that's so delicious! The milkshake is refreshing, tropical, creamy and smooth, and they made sure it's not too sweet for me. The drink is served in a huge glass which makes it a pleasant dessert in itself. Other flavors they have are Papaya, Guanabana, Mamey, and Strawberry. There's also desserts including flan, tres leches cake, and sweet plantains. The service here is pretty good and attentive. On weekends, there's live music and dancing.

Yelp
I'm sorry about the starts but this is why. The Rabo was a bit bitter (No Good) the rice needed a bit more time on the pot and the black bean we're ok. The bread tho. The bread was on point and the coffee SMH it's a Cuban spot please DO NOT USE INSTANT COFFEE, shame on you lol. But i would come back here to try other dishes.

Yelp
I like to stick up for places like Cuba Cafe. Just honest hard woking restaurant owners serving up their version of their nationality! I have respect for a spot like Cuba Cafe that may not have the wow factor when you walk inside, but the pictures on the wall tell their story! The cleanliness of the restaurant shows the pride and enjoyment the get for showing others about the food from Cuba! The table side bread is fresh, lightly toasted, slightly buttered, and very good! I ordered their version of the Cubano which didn't disappoint. Served on some delicious bread with not too much mustard, excellent meats, and cheese that had a little zing to it! A fantastic version indeed! Don't sleep on these guys at all...a great place if haven't dived into Cuban food!!

Yelp
If your looking for authentic Cuban food, Cuba Cafe is your place. Service is super friendly and food is incredible. We did take out from Cuba Cafe 2 months ago, and we were blown away by their Cuban Sandwich. We ordered takeout again and it was just as delicious as the first time. Platanos Madurai's $5.95 5/5 Sweet fried bananas.  6 large pieces of deliciously sweet plantains. So good. Sandwich Cubano $11.95 5/5 Roasted pork , ham , cheese mustard pickles hot pressed.  So delicious! We have tried dozens of Cuban Sandwiches and this is one of the best. The bread is crispy on the outside yet soft and when bitten into. The pork is super tender and flavorful with tons of oozing cheese. It was just as yummy as the 1st time we ate it. Except last time the sandwich was so big we both shared one. This time, it was about 1/2 the size and $2 more. Fries $3.95 3/5 Standard fries. Even with the size discrepancy in the sandwich, we will definitely be back. We will need to order our own sandwiches next time. : )

Yelp
The food was delicious! I got shrimp enchiladas and it was amazing. So flavorful and prices were not high. Would be a great date night restaurant too.

Yelp
The best Cuban restaurant ever!! Definitely will be coming back. Especially during the Sport events.

Yelp
Very good food and drinks, friendly staff, and fast service. This was my first time here but it definitely won't be my last. We were seated immediately and shortly after were asked about drinks and they were brought out to us. The potato balls in the sampler were SO good and the entrees had big portions, I got full halfway through my plate. The strawberry limonada was very good and tasted like it was made in house which is always a plus. And the flan was DELICIOUS. I try flan at every restaurant I go to and this was DEFINITELY up there with my top flan. I'd come back just for a lemonade and a flan honestly. This place was so good and I can't recommend it enough! Definitely worth a try if you're on the fence about it!

Yelp
I'm in town for a concert wanted to eat some good Spanish food and food Cuba cafe great place nice atmosphere the server was very good and great keep checking up on us and apologized for certain things that of course weren't his fault but was very attentive to us and to the other guests food was good not to greasy not to old perfect food price was great for the amount of food they give will come back when I come back to Vegas
google avatar

Yelp
Been eyeing this place for at lease a year and I finally gave it a try so I just had the Bistec Argentino. The steak was cooked to perfection and a great price for the large steak. The the sauce that comes with the steak was very favorable with a wonderful tasting salad. I really didn't like the potatoes. I sould have tried it the rice and beans. Next time I will order because they surely got a new customer in me. Very good meal.
google avatar

Aryo F.

Yelp
I had plan to visit the Peru Chicken but since they were closed I decided to try the Cuba Cafe. The interior was nice and they didn't have so many customers. I can't make any comment about the food since I am not from Cuba. The server was very nice and kind.
google avatar

Ally D.

Yelp
Love the food here, it's very consistent every time I order. I've never dined in but my food is always really good when I order out. They have a really good selection of food on there menu, and it's very authentic Cuban cuisine. It can be a little pricey but the food is definitely worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Our first time here. We got there almost 3pm and they were busy. We were seated in a table for 2 bear the bar/kitchen but very dim that I had to raise the menu for some sunlight to read it. I am not adventurous with food but my husband is so I have to try it. I ordered the appetizer sampler and he ordered the ox tail meal. We were immediately served with very hot yummy bread. We asked for seconds but I guess they forgot or really didn't want to give us more lol. Next table ordered a shake and they said it's Mamey (fruit-Google it). We got one to share as it was on a huge glass. Very delicious. My hubby ordered an espresso and it was sweet yet strong. My Order: Cuba Cafe Sampler 1 papa rellena, 1 Beef empanada, 2 small croquettes and Mariquitas (crunchy sliced plantains) some salad under the croquettes that was very tasty. Husband's order: Rabo Encendido - Braised oxtail with tomato sauce, potatoes and carrots served with white rice, beans and salad What my husband ordered was very scrumptious. If I was able to see the menu better maybe I could've order a better dish lol. The service was very good. I would want to return and try more of their dishes.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Service was mediocre, food was meh and expensive in my opinion. Restaurant was quiet as we were the only patrons there. I would probably not return to this establishment.
google avatar

Stanley M.

Yelp
They gave me ration food!! I got the Rabo and it was spoiled meat!! Never go there again!.

Yelp
Favorite Cuban food in Las Vegas. Service ver attentive and food comes quickly. Drinks are really good and they aren't light with the pour. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Services is really poor, food has recalentado taste , is not the same it used to be , I wouldn't not recommend this restaurant any more bad bad experience Black Beans and Rice super dry no music , quality food very very poor

Yelp

Yelp
I 1st tried Cuba Cafe back in 2006 and I am happy to report that the food quality here hasn't faltered! I brought my wife and 5 month old son for lunch. The mojitos are still delicious and refreshing, the Ropa Vieja is tender and flavorful, and the Cuban Sandwich is simple and comforting. Great job Cuba Cafe!
google avatar

Christine G.

Yelp
Love. I did not dine in, had a Door Dash delivery. I will say it took less than 30 minutes for delivery. Food was hot and so delicious. The chicken empanada is homemade and tasty! Also had the Cubano sandwich with homemade bread, which was outstanding! I could only eat half at first because it was loaded! I love. Ive been one time before, inside, and its a cute restaurant with a live DJ or small band and a tiny dance floor. Very pretty. Located on East Tropicana between Spencer and Eastern on the SE side. Highly Recommend.

Yelp
Trying to find a replacement for Sugar Corner will be a bit harder than I thought. I got the standard: flank steak with rice and beans. The price was a bit higher than average. The food came out relatively quickly. The restaurant was big and clean. The rice and beans were really good. They had a slight meat taste and a nice flavor. The steak had a strong almost mustard taste which was a little unexpected. The onions were grilled and there was enough but there could have been more. It came with a side salad that wasn't listed on the menu. I didn't care for it because it had a vinaigrette dressing that was a little too vinegar for me. I would have preferred another scoop of rice and beans and would have asked for that if I would have known the salad was there. The flan was....interesting. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. It wasn't presented well, see the pictures for what I mean. It was almost like a mix between tees leches and flan. I was ambivalent about the food but my friend wouldn't return. The search for the palomilla continues!

Yelp
One of my favorite movies is "Chef". If you've seen this, you know it's all about the Cuban Sandwich. Well that is what led us to the Cuba Cafe. As you step inside you get a very authentic feeling. We were seated immediately and ordered a pitcher (we were thirsty) of white sangria which was delicious. We then ordered some appetizers which included a chicken empanada, I was pleasantly surprised. Next time I could make a meal out of them. Lightly fried, not at all greasy and the chicken was juicy and tender. The Cuban sandwich was definitely the star of the meal. I haven't had many of these sandwiches, but might just stop here as it was very good. Our overall dining experience was wonderful. I felt like thiswas in a restaurant that was owned by a family who invited us in for supper. We look forward to coming back

Yelp
Delicious Latin Cuban food , everything in the menu is overwhelming with so much great variety of food , then they served you great portions. The guanabana drink is top of the best And the service is up there too , great food , good prices and great location ... highly recommended

Yelp
I asked the waiter if they have frita's and he looked at me like I was crazy. They had a vegan burger and they took that off the menu... mind you it was just alfalfa (what horses eat) but it was good. Then they had the audacity to charge $10 for rice and beans which the beans may or may not have pork in them.... It's just not vegetarian friendly. I gave it two stars because at least they have yuca... but Cuban food is multicultural and this is not a great representation for Cuban food at all. They cater to the nursing home pepole and it shows. Wannabe Latin America (restaurant in Miami), where the waiter dosen't even know what a frita is!
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
The food is so good here. I loved the cheesy potato balls so soft. The tomato sauce for the shrimp was cooked well. It fell right off the tail. Empanadas we're so juicy and tender. Loved the crust edges. Good michelada amazing flavor. Caesar salad was mediocre but who ever cares. Great local place! Please check it out
google avatar

Mitch S.

Yelp
Tostones with shrimp, beef and chicken empanadas were hot and tasty. Main courses were rack of lamb, cooked to perfection, grilled mahi mahi. fresh and delicious and the chicken fricasse ala grandpa was amazing, you might have to wait a little for the chicken but well worth it. Service is friendly and the manager really knows how to take care of his customers.

Yelp
Every bite was delicious. The ropa viejo is exceptional. This will be a regular stop when we are in Vegas.

Yelp
We place our order got the food, meat was over cooked missing beans and the other plate the Moro was like the bottom scraped off and a little to hard for my taste .. the waiter not once did he check back on our table but he did for other table ..food really didn't taste so good considering how expensive it is .. salad was awesome ..
