Anything as tasty as a Cuban sandwich can be the most gratifying meal, if it's made correctly. I've had Cuba Café on my list for awhile but never got to them until recently. The restaurant is on Tropicana near Eastern and Spencer, and is situated in a small plaza with limited parking.
Inside there's table seatings to accommodate for groups, and for those who wants a booth or bar. Their menu has a lot of great items to try and there's also a good selection for vegetarians. They have offerings for tapas, side dish, salads, an assortment of sandwiches, grilled meats, seafood, and they make pastas too!
I came on Friday and it was getting as close to busy! They had me seated next to a big group table at the back. My appetite was just wanting a light dinner, so I opted for a Caesar Salad ($6.99) and a Chicken Sandwich ($11.95). Each table is served with a basket of complimentary bread. It took them around 30 minutes before I received my order. The sandwich is a huge serving and I could only eat half. Chicken was a little dry though and there's barely sauce, and the fries that came with it was not even hot or crispy. The only thing that's quite appetizing was the fresh Caesar salad.
As for beverage, they offer coffee and beer, specialty cocktails, tequila and wine. I tried the Mango Batido ($6.25), it's a Cuban style milkshake that's so delicious! The milkshake is refreshing, tropical, creamy and smooth, and they made sure it's not too sweet for me. The drink is served in a huge glass which makes it a pleasant dessert in itself. Other flavors they have are Papaya, Guanabana, Mamey, and Strawberry. There's also desserts including flan, tres leches cake, and sweet plantains. The service here is pretty good and attentive. On weekends, there's live music and dancing.
