Cuban Restaurant Cuba 512 Is Open in Downtown Austin - Eater Austin
"The Cuban restaurant is known for its dishes from the Caribbean country, like ropa vieja, arroz con pollo, mariscada Cubana, flan, and, yes, Cuban sandwiches, plus much more. There are also cocktails (mojitos, Cuba libres), as well as coffees (both alcoholic and not), sodas, fruity milkshakes, and more. The downtown restaurant will feature a limited version of the original menu, plus a full bar. It is open for lunch and dinner. Its hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily." - Nadia Chaudhury
Do I ever love this place. Hands down best place to come for brunch in the area, and not overrun and overrated like so many other spots. Vegetarian omelette with home fries is the move. Service is always super friendly, too. I only wish there were more authentic neighborhood spots like this.

Love Cuba 512. As a life long tex-mex fan, Cuba 512 provides a nice option that is different, but not too far from my comfort zone. The staff is great and this end of Congress needed another good option.

Had the Ropa Vieja and added boiled yuca as a side. Delicious and service was excellent.

I am very excited for this new location. I always enjoyed going to the south austin restaurant and now we have a nice option downtown as well. The restaurant looks amazing with the mural and the amazing panoramic of a cathedral makes you feel you are there! You can also eat outside, it’s shaded and comfortable. Food was so good!!! They have great vegetarian options as well. Drink menu doesn’t disappoint. Great spot for a nice evening with friends.

Our server didn't know much about the food. When I asked for recommendations she said "I don't know it just depends" or when I asked her which kind of beans is good she said "I don't know it just depends." Didn't make the dining experience very good. I had never tried cuban food so I wanted to know what was popular, it was a simple question. The food is just okay. Beef was better than pork. The yellow rice was hard.

It was way over priced and not authentic. I have friends who are from Cuba and they would be disappointed with these portions and the pricing. Taste wise it was just there. I wouldn’t be craving this Cuban food. Service was very helpful though.
