Metro Atlanta restaurants: Cuban Sandwich and Coffee Shop Cubanos ATL Opens in Cumming, Georgia - Eater Atlanta

"The second location of Cuban sandwich and coffee shop Cubanos ATL opens today in Cumming, Georgia, at Cumming Marketplace. The menu is the same for both the Sandy Springs and Cumming locations, and it will soon include a vegan option of the El Miami sandwich. Owner Ozzy Llanes announced his plans to open a new location late last year. Instead, Cubanos ATL takes over space connected to Jax Fine Wine and Spirits at Cumming Marketplace. Cuban-born Llanes moved to Atlanta from Miami over a decade ago and admits he spent years searching for a “decent” Cuban sandwich in the metro area. He opened the original Cubanos ATL in Sandy Springs in August 2020. The takeout-only Cuban sandwich shop, located in the parking lot of a small retail plaza on Roswell Road, resides inside a tiny house Llanes custom-designed and built himself. It quickly gained a following, with lines often snaking around the parking lot during lunch. Cubanos ATL features four sandwiches on the menu: a traditional Cuban called El Miami; the El Tampa with roast pork, ham, salami, pickles, and Swiss cheese; the El Pollo chicken sandwich mixed with aioli and topped with pickles and Swiss cheese; and a media noche. All sandwiches are created using family recipes and come served on La Segunda Central Bakery bread — the oldest Cuban bread maker in the United States. In addition to sandwiches, the shop also serves breakfast and Cuban coffee and coffee drinks." - Beth McKibben

Wow, was a shocked to find this restaurant! I had never noticed this place until about a week ago, they have a big sign on the building but I had just assumed it was art work on the building. We saw some small signs on the side of the road and started looking for the restaurant. Found it!!! As for the restaurant, very friendly staff, made us feel welcomed. We ordered a El Miami sandwich to split. It was very good, a nice amount of ingredients and some perfectly toasted Cuban bread. We enjoyed it very much, so glad we found Cubano’s ATL!

We were so excited to try this place. After moving from Miami we were really looking forward to a media noche and a Cuban coffee. The sandwiches were just ok. Nothing like what we are used to. Kind of reminded me of a pressed Publix sub. Don’t need to come back but worth a try.

We decided to give this place a try and sadly we probably won’t be returning. We ordered a Tampa, a Miami, a can of soda, and a Cuban coffee and somehow it was almost $40. That’s pretty steep for lunch. The pork was surprisingly dry too, so we felt the quality was lacking for the high price. The upside was the place was clean and the sandwiches were large. Only 3 very small tables to eat at, so it seems like it’s mostly a to-go style place.

I absolutely love the El Miami Cuban sandwich. Having been born and raised in Tampa , and having lived in Miami, I know a good Cuban and this place is legit. I just wish they bring back their breakfast menu. Give it a try, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Food was okay, portion was a long sandwich but really thin. Don’t believe the pictures they have posted, nothing like that. Good to come and try one time, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come again. Too expensive for the amount and quality of food. And the chicken sandwich is not spicy at all.

Cubanos ATL has a great thing going on, great coffee (the strongest and tastiest on town, ask Sabrina for it, she makes the very best!!!). The Cuban style sandwiches are Soooo good, my favorites are the Tampa (with Salami on it) and the Miami. I'll definitely recommend this place!

This is the best place in town for a great Cuban sandwich and amazing coffee. The staff are super friendly. The store is very cute inside with some seating. If you like pineapple try the Jupiña soda!!!
