Spent $44 on soggy fries, a wilted salad, a decent Cuban sandwich, and a small flan. I came here two years ago and it was much better. Not sure what has happened, but the quality has certainly gone down. The upside is that my Cuban sandwich did have a ton of pork, which was good. But the fries were terrible. The salad was wilted lettuce, some palm hearts, and a few avocado pieces. Certainly not worth $16. And the $10 flan was gone in about eight bites. I did take out so this place is probably better if you sit down and eat.

Such a fantastic, atmospheric spot among the relative bland options downtown Bethesda, and the food here is absolutely second to none! Of the few places that offer ropa vieja and plenty more.

Cubanos restaurant in Bethesda is excellent. his whole set. The food is authentic Cuban food and the lunches are affordable and varied. The service is excellent, they make you feel at home. The experience was incredible. Of course it is now my favorite restaurant.

We had an outstanding experience at Cubanos in Bethesda! The Chicken Tenders were a delightful start for the kids, and the Grill Chicken and papas combo at $12 provided both taste and value to them . The innovative substitution of plantains in Arroz Caldoso de mar for $28 was a flavorful twist , it had clams, shrimps, octopus and so much good stuff , and the Masitas de puerco at $18 were a savory delight. Accompanied by a refreshing Pana still water for $7, the meal was a culinary journey. I would definitely recommend the chicken fingers for the kids. Moreover, the server’s warmth added to the overall enjoyment, making the dining experience even more delightful. The restaurant’s astonishing decoration created a vibrant ambiance, enhancing the atmosphere. Also they had good coffee! My wife liked it. One notable advantage is the easy street parking, making the visit convenient. The accessibility adds to the overall positive experience. I highly recommend Cubanos for anyone seeking a delicious meal in a welcoming environment.

Google
This place has great customer service, their mojito is one of the best I had. They gave us a courtesy soup and it was delicious, I got crocretas and it was really good as well, although my steak (vaca frita) needed some more seasoning, and rice wasn’t the best. But in general we had a good experience.

Came here while traveling for work and lucked into Thursday “all night happy hour”. Lots of apps on special and $8 double mojitos. Everything was delicious - service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place. You ain't foolin' my Latin taste buds if you don't come correct though . . . I was disappointed with the avocado salad. It was pretty basic, and I needed more flavah, more avocado, less brown salad bits in my salad. Not a good start. The frituras are good tho, 4 starts, whether it's empanandas or any other fried comestibles. Ask for extra creamy sauce to dip them thangs. If you're set on trying this spot, I'd stick to frituras and Cuban coffee. Our server was kind.

Yelp
Sub par Cuban food not terrible Just not my favorite Went there after a year of seeing it pop up on my Ig. Cuban sandwich and the Papas Rellenas Wich is mashed potato ball stuffed with ground beef all very good

Debbie O.

Yelp
This is such a pleasant surprise. A friend invited me out and it's been so long since I had Cuban food so I was very excited and they lived up to all my expectations. We went on a Thursday which turns out to be the day they have happy hour all night. Those mojitos are top notch. We started with a mini Cuban sandwich, the octopus, empanadas and shrimp which were all so full of flavor and cooked to perfection. I got the shrimp plate with bean and plantains and the beans are excellent. The food was so good I had to come back the next Thursday with my man. Excellent food and even better service. Definitely check them out

Yelp
Lovely hole in the wall spot with good service, cute decorated interior. Had a mojito while waiting for the food. For apps we tried the croquetas de jamón serrano which were good, and some squid. For my entree ordered the palomilla steak which was delicious. They let me sub out the plantain for a side salad since I'm not a fan of those. The portion was a good size, had to take the rest home. We ordered a bottle of Malbec to pair with our food, only downside was they didn't have an extensive wine list. I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
Simple, Delicious, Authentic. Great flavor, with friendly, attentive service in a warm, relaxed setting. Ever since the Cuban Corner closed, we've been looking for a Cuban place that had good Cuban food, was not obviously a chain, and let a lunch or dinner gathering linger over dessert and cafe cubano, or even a mojito. This is the place. Crunchy croquetas or yucca chips, ropa vieja to give Miami a run for its money, or the wonderful seafood/meat medley platter for two. Save some rice to sop up the juices. We usually end with "un cafecito". Buen provecho!

Cya R.

Yelp
Food was yummy, tasted so very close to my Cuban grandmother's food! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Our party of four came here on a cool Sunday for a nice and easy dinner. The experience was great and the food was delicious! We ordered the three entrees and one of the entree had enough portion for two. Big entree - Picadera Cubana $60: as you can see from the second picture attached below, this big oval dish had everything. The sauce below the meat and yuca and fries were amazing! The beans and rice that came it was complemented the meats really well! The yuca and the calamari were definitely my favorite part of this dish. For $60, it's definitely on point. Ropa Vieja - $28: this shredded beef over a bed of rice is pretty good! The beef is marinated well. Unfortunately, the serving size is a bit underwhelming. A+ for taste, C- for size. Not included in the picture is the $28 Lechon. This slow roasted pork dish is essentially the shredded pork version of Ropa Vieja. The seasoning and sauce aren't as heavy as Ropa Vieja, so this dish is light in terms of flavor. But, the taste was still great. Service: it was good! Our waters were constantly refilled and the staff was nice. $127ish post tax is not bad for a good meal for four people in Bethesda! Music is a bit loud, but the two babies slept through it.

Yelp
i came here on a friday night for dinner with a friend. she made a reservation day of for 7 pm. we ended up arriving closer to 7:20 pm and the restaurant was able to accommodate that. i ordered a virgin colada cubana drink. i enjoyed the drink, but wish there was less ice (it was practically 90% ice). for food, we ordered a few things to share: the caramiñola, ropa vieja, and the cubano sandwich. everything was pretty good. the ambiance felt cozy too - overall a great place to have a nicer dinner with a friend.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
This is an awesome Cuban restaurant in Bethesda. I enjoyed everything I had here. The croquetas were crispy and I liked the sauce they came with. The arepitas de lechon were good too. It was like a crispy fried thick taco with toppings. The chargrilled octopus was cooked well. My favorite was the caraminola. I never had this dish before so I was pleasantly surprised. It was crispy and fried on the outside and the inside was filled with tomato sauce and meat so it wasn't dry. The mojitos here were also great. The service was good and I liked the cozy atmosphere.

Rosa M.

Yelp
Was my grandma cooking?! Food literally tasted like a home cooked meal. I feel like the menu lacked variety, it was about 2 to 3 options within the same meat category. Menu was one page long, no pictures, dish names in spanish with description in english. Kids menu had 4 options available and 4 juices that they could pick from. Service was speedy and the staff were friendly. Mojitos were really good but no flavor variety, only the original mojito. Juices tasted like they were freshly squeezed!! Overall good experience.

Khiem H.

Yelp
I came here on a Monday evening with a few friends. The restaurant is a-bit small but it wasn't too busy so it wasn't too bad. The foods are mixes of good and average. The epanadas and Le chon was great but the burger & Cubano is sort of dry. The happy hour Sangria is great, it wasn't top shelf stuff but wasn't terrible and for $5 it was a great deal. I'd come back but probably only for snacks and drinks.

Brandon J.

Yelp
We enjoyed everything: the starter, entrees, and desserts. Service was excellent; we had a main waiter and another kid who helped out. It was a nice vibe for a Valentines dinner. The live musician, the cozy environment and a good crowd all made for a nice first experience at Cubano's.

Stuart M.

Yelp
We took advantage of happy hour to put together a nice spread. Sangrias got us started in fine fashion. A generous pour with just the right blend of fruit to wine. Then a mini Cuban sandwich brought three small flavorful bites of pork and sauce. The reduced price reflected a smaller portion than the full priced version so not really much of a savings. Then on to arepitas de lechon. Pork on top of bread base with onions and flavorings. Really good. Gambas al ajillo was a winner. 4 large shrimp in this decadent butter garlic sauce. The 4th pick was empanadas de picadillo. Pork and olives inside deep fried casing. Flavor was there, but I am not a deep frier advocate for health reasons. Still a really nice night out at a reasonable price.

Rose R.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Tuesday evening. Tried the bacon wrapped plantains with feta and guava (yum); the oxtail stew which was really flavorful and tender but the amount of meat when you tease it away from some of the fat is a little lacking; and the shrimp with garlic paprika sauce was disappointing. It had good flavor but the shrimp were over cooked. The 4 leche cake was delicious. Overall the meal was good but not great especially at that price point you just expect a little better. Also, we always had to flag down the waitress (sometimes she was just checking her phone) and our water didn't get refilled once. With many other options in the area I'm not sure I'm motivated to return.

Disha S.

Yelp
Good service, good food, lovely ambience. I'd love to return and try more of their dishes.

Paris B.

Yelp
Went here 7/24/23 with my homegirl around 6:30pm. We sat at the bar and was serviced by Julio M who was amazing btw. We were the only ones in the restaurant until about 30 minutes prior to departure. The offer happy hour 3pm to 6pm. It's street parking. I started off with Cuban Pina Colada and my homegirl got Tito's straight. Baby I was babysitting my drink. Finally a drink that I can taste the alcohol. Food wise I got the Platano rolls. I could only eat one. It was so filling. As an entree I got the palomillo steak with spinach, rice, black beans and my friend ordered the soup of the day under starters. The soup of the day was flavorful but yet light. The steak wasn't as tender as I like but than again I ordered medium well. The rice was buttery and seasoned. The black beans were seasoned well. The spinach was garlicky. Highly recommend this spot. The ambiance gave Cuba. Honestly I don't know what restaurants in Cuba look like but if I had to guess I think it looked like the decor of the restaurant. Beautiful.

Alicia T.

Yelp
The food and drinks were delicious. Especially loved the pork and plantains! The service was excellent!

Shaila A.

Yelp
Food and drinks are great. It's pretty easy to get a table here but that could just be that it's a newer addition in Bethesda. They have all day happy hour on Thursdays. Cozy spot and good waitstaff.

Arista W.

Yelp
The food was amazing here and I was thoroughly satisfied! It is a little pricey but it's worth it. The service is nice and the restaurant itself is beautiful both outside and inside. Stopped in for dinner and to my surprise this is another gem tucked away in Bethesda. We sat at the bar (my go to spot) and the bartender was great. He was attentive, friendly, and the food came out pretty quickly. I got the ropa vieja which is white rice, braised beef, black beans, and plantains. I ate every bit of my plate lmaoo. Didn't leave a single piece of rice. It was so good. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Not sure if they cooked it all day or not but that's what it tastes like. My husband got the vaca frita and barely let me try it. Lol! He also left no leftovers. We loved this food and will most certainly be back to try their other entrees. I love little places like this that people don't really know about yet that have wonderful food. Good eats!

Ebonie J.

Yelp
Thursday Happy Hour is the best! Good service, great food and friend staff. Drinks are on point! Vibes are amazing

Mike P.

Yelp
I must rave about this restaurant. The mojitos-excellent. The octopus appetizer- excellent. The soup of the day (chicken soup)- excellent and perhaps the best I've ever had. The Cuban sandwich- simply yummy. Our server Julio - excellent!! Great atmosphere, great food!! Cannot wait to return.

Shimi H.

Yelp
The food is mediocre and you can find similar foods for cheaper prices somewhere else. I read from another review that they supposed to serve bread, which we didn't get. I ordered "Arroz Caldoso Del Mar" which was a brothy rice with different seafoods. It was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again.

Alessandra D.

Yelp
this evening, we decided to go out to dinner in our neighborhood instead of grabbing takeout and went out to Cubanos! This Cuban restaurant is super spacious inside and beautifully decorated; you can't even tell from the outside. We started off with their empanadas, two orders of the croquetas, and I ordered their Ropa Vieja. The entire meal was SO good and the stars of the show for us were the empanadas and croquetas + get their mojito! They have a wide array of cocktails but you can never go wrong with a solid mojito. And their Cuban sandwich is so incredible. A must get tooZ

Rachel L.

Yelp
If you have never had Cuban food.... You have GOT to come here! Absolutely incredible. My favorites were the Caramiñola, platana rolls, and Picadera cubana. You can't come without getting those!!! All so delicious.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Great Cuban food! Tried the octopus, croquets, and the ox tail stew. All were really good. The octopus was cook well and very good in portion size. The sauce that cam with it was delicious too. The only I would recommend it that it would have a little more char on it. The croquets were pretty solid too. My favorite was definitely the ox tail stew. Great flavors, the meat was fall off the bone, and portions were sizeable. I really liked the food here.

DaCely F.

Yelp
Came in for lunch my family and I were their second customers in the whole restaurant. Service was very poor and our food manage to be tasteless, cold and late. The cuban chips smelled and tasted old and my entree had a pubic hair right on the dish. Disgusting, terrible experience, very disappointed since we love Cubanos in Silver Spring. Will not be coming back to this location.

Josie V.

Yelp
Let's me start by saying you guys have the best piña colada's if the food taste as good as the drinks I would've given this place a 5 start but sadly it did not meat my expectations. The tucán con mojo was more of yuca with tomato soup, the yuca ball was not Fully heated. The ropa vieja was super dry with a pinch of rice, beans had some Flavor but again did not Meat my expectation. The waiter asked us if the food was good here I had to be honest but I wish I could say I enjoyed every bite but once again for the amount this restaurant charged they should def look into fixing some of the plates and their ingredients. I will be back to enjoy some pina coladas for sure. I'll have to pass on any foods here.

Speechless S.

Yelp
The place looks basic just walking by, don't be mistaken, the food is delicious!! We stopped here because we like to try to restaurants every week. We tried the mojito which was good and almost left because we didn't think we wanted anything on the menu. We looked it over twice and decided to just try the empanadas. We ended up staying ordering 2 more appetizers and one of their recommended main dishes. We didn't want to leave!! We will be back soon for sure!!

Eric B.

Yelp
Great Cuban food! We loved the Cuban Sandwich and Empanadas. Service was excellent and we had a great time. Portions are also very generous.

Tania R.

Yelp
I've been coming to to this restaurant for 10yrs and I always leave satisfied with the food and service from Osmin and Juan. Great service.

Rose F.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Bethesda! You can't beat the all day Thursday happy hour! The sangria always hits the spot and the entree portion sizes are enough to split between two hungry adults. The service is always great. We love coming here after a long day at work to enjoy a drink or for a date night.

Shoniqwa U.

Yelp
Walked in, stood at the counter for many minutes, ignored by 2 or 3 employees, walked out. Not coming back anytime soon. Hahahahaha.

Alberto B.

Yelp
PROS: Very nice atmosphere, great mojito drink, clean bathrooms and friendly/attentive staff. THE BAD: 1) incredibly overpriced with the average appetizer costing about $10 for say 2 empanadas or 3 croquetas and the average entrie price is now $30 for a typical Cuban dish. 2) No bread was served while we waited for our dishes which took about 20 to 30 minutes to come out. I later ordered bread and it was brought out cold, hard and stale. 3) The entrie dishes were generally of poor quality - the Ropa Vieja had a lime taste and was poured over what seemed like 2 tablespoons of rice. The palomilla steak was rubbery. The black beans seem to come from cans and was mainly a cold garnish (~1/4 cup) without any seasoning. It tasted so bad that after the first taste I didn't even finish it. I will never come back again. Nearby Cuban restaurants are 40%-50% less and much tastier/authentic (sa Mi C--- C---).

Pete S.

Yelp
I'm was so pleased with this place. They honored our reservation and sat us promptly. The mojitos had fresh, muddled mint in them. My steak was cooked perfectly. It's clean and has a nice vibe.

Margarita C.

Yelp
Very pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious and was service was very good. Can't wait to go back!

Sabrina P.

Yelp
Do not recommend. Nice waitstaff and ambiance but the food is overpriced and very bland. Was not a fan.

Denise Z.

Yelp
Decided to give this place a shot. I was hesitant because I don't eat red meat or pork. The flatbread I pushed the pork on to my son's piece, very tasty! The other appetizer I wasn't aware had beef in it but I tasted the top part and sauce that didn't, it was warm not hot and fresh. I'm not going to sugar coat anything! When I don't get hot food from a restaurant it's a ginormous disappointment! I then got my meal that was cold!! Not warm or room temp. More like out of a refrigerator cold chicken and rice! They asked if I wanted an other dish I replied I just wanted my meal hot! The plantains are excellent. My husband and son loved the Cuban coffee. Personally I wouldn't go back. That really bothered me not getting hot appetizers or meals.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Worst Cuban sandwich I have ever had. Christinos and Moros rice and beans was flavorless. Croquets were undercooked. Ropa Veja tasted like it was flavored with straight spaghetti sauce. Everything was overpriced.

Chloe L.

Yelp
Had a great experience at Cubano's! I had no idea there was a Bethesda location-- where have I been?? During our visit, the service was lovely, as well as the food & drinks. This place has such a cute vibe/aesthetic to it. I spent a good deal of my time taking pictures / videos. Definitely recommend you check them out!

Robert H.

Yelp
Great food and service. Amazing plantains ! The mixed Cuban place was excellent !

Allyson D.

Yelp
Restaurant was clean and cute! We went in during the weekend, and it wasn't busy. My boyfriend and I got dinner for two and really enjoyed our meal. The restaurant doesn't have its own parking, but there is a garage nearby where parking on the weekends are free! We will be back again.

Karina K.

Yelp
Cubano's is a go to local favorite for me. The food is delicious and portions are generous. My husband and I are huge fans of the Picadera Cubana for two - more than enough food for two people with healthy appetites! Our favorite appetizer so far is the arepitas but we plan to try all the different appetizers over time and have like everything so far. The sweet plantains are a perfect accompaniment to the savory meal. Wait staff is friendly and warm and quick to help and make accommodations and recommendations for any dietary restrictions. Finally, the ambience is cozy and feels family owned yet modern and always impeccably clean. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5

Eric F.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. That's all the information you need to know. My wife and I came on a whim and we're not disappointed. The ropa vieja and lechon were both very flavorful and tender. The black beans are delicious on their own, which you can't say about all black beans. And the Platano Rolls were a fun surprise.

A M.

Yelp
This is truly an authentic Cuban restaurant with the best food and the best Mojito's anywhere! You will be thrilled with the service because they are so professional and they treat you like family! The ambience makes you feel like you are at home and you feel like you're experiencing what it's like to be part of this Cuban family.

Theresa H.

Yelp
Yummy food worth the price. Each dish was cooked to perfection, very flavorful. Chargrilled octopus is super fresh.

Sophie H.

Yelp
I would not go here again, the whole restaurant is dirty and i saw multiple mouse traps bear the tables. Very gross

Devin C.

Yelp
Get the arepitas de lechon! I came to grab a quick Cuban sandwich for lunch, but the arepitas stole the show! The cubano was a little dry but the flavor was good. This place was a cozy stop after walking around the area.

Oluwabusola O.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious, seasoned very well! The staff was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere was cool as well. Will definitely return.

Bill T.

Yelp
I missed the Cuban food I had in Florida and Havana and decided to try Cubano in Bethesda with my family and friends. It was a disappointment. The $38 sea bass I ordered was a piece of dry and tough fillet, which was of nowhere near restaurant quality, and it does not come with rice or black bean. To have black bean and rice, you have to pay an additional $10 to order.
