On the Grid : Cuba Ocho Museum and Performing Arts Center

"Cuba Ocho is Little Havana's gumbo stew—it has a little bit of everything mixed in to create its own flavor. The venue wears many hats—operating as a gallery and cultural center throughout the day, and transforming into an energetic bar/lounge at night. Ownership has a vast collection Cuba's history told in the form of art and texts. Their beautifully adorned bar includes an extensive collection of rum. On any given night, you may wander into a large, outdoor drum circle or find yourself enjoying one of their stand-up comedy acts." - Colada Collective

Art and Culture in Miami

"Though you don’t need to go far to immerse yourself in Cuban culture in Miami, the Cubaocho Museum is as close to being in Havana as you’ll get without crossing the water. Part art museum, part live music venue, part grand old bar, this spot has walls lined with pre-revolutionary Cuban art and live music most nights of the week. Inside you’ll find Cuban bands playing while people who still remember Cuba “the way it was” dance like they’re young again — all while bartenders sling fresh mojitos from behind a towering mahogany bar." - MATADOR_NETWORK

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Little Havana! Cubaocho is more than just a venue, it’s an experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re immersed in vibrant Cuban culture, surrounded by stunning art, the rhythms of live music, and the warmth of a truly welcoming atmosphere. Every corner of the space tells a story, and every sip of your drink feels like a celebration. The art collection is impressive and rich in history, the live bands bring the place to life, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. Whether you’re there for a drink, a dance, or simply to take in the culture, Cubaocho never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to feel the heartbeat of Miami’s Cuban soul, you’ll leave feeling inspired, energized, and probably wanting to come back with friends.

If you are visiting little Havana in Miami then you must spend sometime here. Actually you should specially come for this place to Little Havana. Excellent music. One of the best I have heard on my trip. Delicious food. Wide variety of cocktails. Vibrant crowd. Warm staff. Though it is mentioned as Museum a d performing arts but its actually proper bar and restaurant with live music and amazing pieces of art all around.

If you are in Miami, you MUST do yourself the favor of visiting Cubaocho. Rosie is a brilliant hostess and the cigars are a special treat. The food is amazing, please try the carnitas tostonos and the Cuba Libre! The art is beautiful. The music was lively and captivating, your own Buena Vista Social Club! Come embrace the local joy, the Cuban soul, and the opportunity to build fond memories that you'll cherish for years to come!

5 Stars – A Must-Visit Spot on Calle Ocho!** Cuba Auto is hands down the only place I truly enjoy on Calle Ocho. The vibe is electric, the energy is authentic, and the music? Absolutely top-notch. Tonight, *Soneros de Primera* lit up the room with their incredible talent—they brought the whole place to life and turned the night into an unforgettable party. The atmosphere is lively, the drinks are great, and the live music brings people together like nowhere else. If you're looking for the soul of Miami in one spot, this is it!

Google
A unique and authentic Cuban experience in the heart of Little Havanna! Never did I think that I would find a place with antique Cuban art, sculptures, books, cigars, delicious Cuban food, Cuban cocktails, dominoes tables to play, live music, and more! I love that I am also able to support a small buisness that has been there over 17 years! Everyone there provides such a good energy and vibe. You will always find me dancing my heart out on Friday and Saturday nights with the large live band in the back. This is my favorite spot in little Havana and also the spot where I host all my company event and birthday parties. Ask them about their event packages! ❤️🥳✨

Google
This was by far the best experience we had in Little Havana on our weekend of fun. We happened to hear the music nearby so we walked in and sat down. The service was so friendly and inefficient. We enjoyed the delicious strawberry margaritas. I was so excited because I had asked other restaurants in this area but none of them carried it. My friend had a delicious mango margarita. Our server, Kathy, was so friendly and such a beautiful person inside and out. She and other people here make this place special along with the art and the amazing bands that rotate through in the evening.

Yelp
Great place to visit our servers were super nice probably the nicest servers we had in Miami. Loved visiting this bar it just felt like we were not in Miami the experience is just so nice and calm, we sat outside with our drink just watching people walk by and enjoying the live music they had inside. Walking inside was also really nice to see all the art they had inside and outside. We definitely considered this one of the highlights of our trip as a really different experience we really enjoyed our time there.

Yelp
Nice place...service is good music is good. Place gets to hopping when the band comes on Dance floor gets full.no cover decent food. Came here after leaving the ball chain because of bad service...will return

Yelp
Great place to get a drink and listen to live music at night. And if you're into dancing, this probably is one of the cheapest no cover venue you're going to find. The vibe is pretty good and staff is friendly. One thing to note: if you're visiting and someone comes up with a DSLR asking if you want a photo, decline unless you're interested in purchasing a print out of the picture later. It'd just be wasting their time and yours.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome!! I'm so glad the cigar bar next to ball and chain was closed and we walked across the street to Cubaocho. The live music was popping and the dance floor hopping. The 7 piece band was excellent and played Cuban dance music. The owner Pedro is a character and Cude our waitress was excellent. The cigar selection revolved around Oliva. The art is eclectic, interesting and varied.

Yelp
I came here as I bought the Miami go city pass and this was a spot on my list.. was supposed to come with a drink and a sandwich.. We paid $100 for each go pass and this place was supposed to give us a $25 credit for sandwich and drink.. (so $50 for two of us) This is what they gave us plus no type of replacements (I don't eat pork) .. I asked for mines with no ham and it still came with ham.. they guy also took pics of my ticket and THEN told me no replacements and they didn't have sandwiches at the moment .. we would have to wait. (Which we did) I also checked in and it had a yelp offer of a free mojito.. they did honor this but I think it's because they ripped us off to begin with with snack size sandwiches The environment is nice and loud. But the service is money hungry.. pick ya poison carefully The mojito was good .. the sandwich had hard bread .. over all a 3 since I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket anymore.

Yelp
Cubaocho is always a great vibe, and awesome service. The live music is exciting as well as the drinks are on point as well. Look forward to going back when we are in Miami!

Yelp
Not sure about food, but bar and music gets 5 stars. Less than a block from Ball and Chain and maybe better. Great Saturday night scene. The band never seems to take a break. Service is quick and great seating options inside and outside. The patio is right on Calle Ocho. Locals dancing are amazing!

Yelp
If you are in little Havana you must come to this place the ambiance is incredible the Cuban RISMO will put you to dance... if you come ask for KATY she will make sure you have an incredible time...

Yelp
First of all, I absolutely love the decor here. So unique and every seat is special. Many of the tabletops are made from framed pictures. The entire place is just so visually appealing. We stopped by during the early afternoon on a weekend. The live music was just getting started. So much fun. The drinks were strong, but also pretty expensive. As much as I would have liked to stay here for a few hours and enjoyed several rounds, it was one drink and done for us. We just couldn't afford to keep going. They also hit you with an automatic 18% gratuity on the pricey drinks. That said, most of the places around here have expensive drinks so paying a bit more was worth it for the live music, just had to baby sip a bit. They also had some small bites on the menu but we didn't try them or see anyone else eating. Maybe next time.

Yelp
Nightlife experience! First off I'm from Mexico and live in the west coast. I was in Miami for vacation and took my parents to this bar. Yes the drinks and appetizers were good! This place's ambience is wild, they have live music, DJ, and a percussionist. My parents love salsa music and they did not stop dancing all night. After a few Mojitos I was ready to give it a try and dance salsa. Even though I'm not a dancer, the people there showed me a few moves. To everyone that's also from out of town, Go enjoy the culture and vibes. You will love this place and if you don't little Havana got other bars you may like also.

Yelp
If there is a zero star i would've selected it. Yes music is nice (normal commercial cuban music for tourists to enjoy) but the service and the treatment was really horrible. After buying two pricey drinks and paid a handsome tip, we wanted to eat, they told us we have to eat outside the place (at the terrace ) which was odd, but we said it's ok, the menu had not that much to offer so we had some bites and guacamole. Then after completing our bites we wanted to go back inside, which was now not allowed unless we pay a fee of 15 USD per person! (Cover charge ) ... first money is not the issue, but this was illogical and somehow a scam,, I thought there was a misunderstanding, so I spoke to the manager who saw us inside and the waiter who was serving us food and they said sorry you have to pay now this additional fee... Anyhow long story short, we went to another place had an amazing super fun, which means we spent more ;) , called an uber and went home. Really bad experience and I don't wish it to anyone. I recommend the opposite restaurant and bar "old Havana" friendlier people, original Cuban music, variety of drinks and they have amazing food!!!! Please don't waste your time going to greedy places! And enjoy little Havana but be careful from leech restaurants. Take care

Yelp
One of my favorite bars in Little Havana, the staff is amazing, the atmosphere is great and the overall decor is beautiful. There are a lot of pieces of art in every single space of the venue. They have one of the biggest collections of rum and they also offer a nice variety of cocktails, new drinks, coffee, signature drinks and food. Life music playing that will entertain everyone. This is a gem, if you want to experience the miami vibes and the Latin culture. Visit this unique place!

Yelp
This is one of the best night time spots on Calle Ocho, it's an older crowd compared to Ball & Chain so if it's too intense over there for your liking this is a great place to spill over to. The drinks are a bit expensive but it's the scene and the environment you are paying for. The venue doubles up as a museum and hosts a number of classic books and artwork related to Cuban history. On the side is a cigar shop to buy cigars. The food is really good too with a number of classic Cuban options. Heavily under-utilized is the side tables outside which usually sit empty. This is the perfect spot to relax with friends, have a few drinks, play dominoes, or smoke a few cigars to the electric sounds of authentic Cuban music. The volume is just loud enough to hold a table conversation while still enjoying the vibrant scene. The servers and the patrons here are very friendly, especially the older folks, and nobody hesitates to say hello or crack a few jokes. Definitely a must see if you are wandering around Little Havana for the night.

Yelp
Best mojito I've ever had! Fun to look at the art. Worth a stop. Fun environment for a midafternoon cocktail.

Yelp
Servers try but not organized, beer is served warm. Live music is ok and no cover charge, maybe why they charge $20 for a scotch I get that it is a tourist area but really ?
google avatar

Lei H.

Yelp
We had a good time hanging out here and dancing to the dj and live band on a Friday night. No cover charge and decor is beautiful. A great vibe of casual and classy. Live band was great. Crowd was quite diverse of young and old with a nice dance floor.

Yelp
Although parking is difficult to find (and not free on the main street), we stop here every time we are in Little Havana for the "last drink" before heading home. It's a big place with a full bar and a big room for live music bands (and dancing). What I love about it though is that the entire place is like an art gallery: you see (Cuban) paintings everywhere, even on the ceiling, and some tables are artistic creations! They also have some tables outside, and sometimes live music: it's here where we usually like to sit, enjoy a cigar, a few drinks (we never ordered food here) and... people watching!
google avatar

Aileen R.

Yelp
Awesome place to relax and enjoy some Cuban nostalgia, with lots to feast your eyes on. Cuban drawings and paintings everywhere. Grab a Mojitos while you walk around and view the artwork and listen.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Found this place while walking around. It is one of the well-known spots in Little Havana. This is a performing arts center with a bar. I would not really consider this a full restaurant as it only serves appetizers for food. It is a fantastic spot to come for a drink as you can watch performers while you sit. The inside of the venue is like a museum and there is art everywhere. Relaxing to be around it all really and the bathrooms are individual ones and so you can take a deuce in comfort. One thing I don't like is the auto gratuity (18 percent) added to orders. There is also an additional charge added on for using credit cards. Minus one star for this. A good spot to chill.
google avatar

Eunice I.

Yelp
Loved the whole aesthetic here! It has so much art from the tables, to the paintings and the setup. Spent a lot of time just snapping photos. Not sure if it's the owner, but there was a lovely and vibrant older gentleman who was very welcoming and courteous to my friend and I. Our server, Christian, was also so helpful in giving us suggestions for places to check out in Miami. This place was one of the highlights in my visit to Little Havana.
google avatar

Sandra B.

Yelp
This is a must-see in Little Havana. It is a very pretty, artsy spot that is a hang -out and pre-COVID, performance center. You can grab a drink, eat a Cuban snack or smoke cigars (outside) while viewing art in and outside the cafe. All the food items looked and smelled DELISH!! We had just eaten or I would have splurged on getting all the items to share with my beau. The art collection is gorgeous! I don't think it is for sale but I didn't ask. We had a rare bourbon and it was $20 a glass FYI. There was no price listed but when in Rome... The bar does not honor the Yelp check-in per the bartender.
google avatar

Dil S.

Yelp
Had a great time here! Fun Cuban music and salsa, good drinks and appetizers (although small portions). Service took a while, but we kept entertained.
google avatar

Julio C.

Yelp
Come on a Wednesday night and you will love it. It is Salsa night and even though they say they start at 8pm, you got time. You can get there at 8:30pm, which is what happened in my case. The instructors are great and you will have plenty of fun. Now the food: I ordered a guacamole and chips. I think the menu is overpriced, I dont mind paying a lot but please bring me quality. The guacamole had waayy too much of onions. I think less onions and a little more cilantro would have made it taste way better. Drinks are also overpriced and can be done better. Im coming back for the good time and the salsa class for sure. But limiting my eating.
google avatar

Yamile C.

Yelp
We walked into this great atmosphere after turning away from El Santo & Don Diablo. It is an older crowd, but still welcoming. They specialize in their rum based cocktails, as expected, and their cocktails prices were a couple bucks lower than the standard Miami $15+. I had a classing daiquiri which was great, and they try to seat all parties at a table even in a dancing atmosphere which is a nice plus. They had a live band playing and couples dancing in front of the stage, with art all on the walls and eclectic tables tops made to look like framed art pieces. If you're looking for a ball & chain atmosphere but don't want a packed, sweaty club then this is the place to go!
google avatar

Gina U.

Yelp
If you enjoy authentic Cuban music, you can have a blast dancing to a live band while having a nice cocktail ($15). On Thursdays they have Salsa classes at 8pm and the party gets lit after 10pm. I love it!
google avatar

Talitha C.

Yelp
Unique place in the heart of Little Havana. They have a impressive bar and some impressive art. Very unsuspecting art museum. We just thought it was a bar. Oh and very spacious for those that are Covid conscious. Nice outdoor space for people watching as well.
google avatar

Barby T.

Yelp
I've been here before and today truly was a let down... I checked in to Yelp and got super excited about getting a Mojito sampler for free, only to be notified that this was an error. I was advised that due to new management none of these offers where available. Talk about FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! I caught the manager, Griselle, arguing with a customer all because he had a complaint. How rude! Guess the customer is. It right in this place. This place is NOT CHEAP, to come here and get treated like your in a rush hour fast food drive through line is ridiculous. Not to mention this manager is rude to the employees. To make a long story short, management is probably the main reason why I will not recommend anyone to this place...
google avatar

Phylicia K.

Yelp
It's a bar, it's a restaurant, it's a museum, it's a performing arts center, it's a must stop! As soon as you walk in you will see the beautiful bar! The lights hit the bottles just perfectly. There are a bunch of tables each with their own eclectic vibe and many made of framed works of art as the table top! When we walked in there was a 5 piece live band playing the best salsa music! Everyone was dancing having a great time! As you walk more into the establishment you will see so many authentic Cuban works of art that lead you to the back where there is another stage for music later in the night.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
This place is more of a bar than anything else with beautiful warm wood finishes and old world charm. The "museum" is the artwork on the walls for sale. Catch the right night and there is live music.
google avatar

Jay A.

Yelp
An amazing little bar with space for live music and dancing and tons of great art for sale. Also, the world's largest rum collection. The mojitos were fantastic!
google avatar

Troy S.

Yelp
Eclectic, energized, spirited, and full of culture! A gathering of musicians filled the air with music while jammin' on the side walk. Art and artifacts lined the walls inside along with a very nice bar to help keep you cool. If you're in the area, this place is a must see. Go and enjoy the culture and what they've created.
google avatar

Erica A.

Yelp
Dancing the night away here on a Sunday night. Live music plays salsa, bachata and just watching dancers sweat was entertaining. Drinks are in a good price range. Hot as fans are used, not air conditioning but definitely fun.
google avatar

Craig Z.

Yelp
There was live music playing, which gave this place a nice atmophere and it is pretty cool inside, but they didn't accept the Yelp check-in offer, and the drinks were very expensive and not very good, so I would have trouble recommending this place.
google avatar

Ambar C.

Yelp
I liked it! the place is really something to see...it is part museum, part bar. It is really nicely decorated with Cuban art and many artifacts. The furniture is what you would find in an old Cuban home and there is a large wall bookshelf in the back with many interesting antique books. Notable art pieces include 'La Rumba' by Antonio Sanchez Araujo, this one in particular is considered by many as the Cuban Mona Lisa. When you approach the place there are folks seating outside smoking cigars and playing dominoes. When you walk in there are two bars! they also have a nice selection of cigars. Their cocktail list is pretty good but pricey. The also offer a variety of appetizers. The best part is the music! They have live bands on the weekends and they play the best 'old school' Cuban music. They place gets super lively with tourist and locals. It is fantastic for people watching! The older Cuban ladies come all dressed up and have amazing dance moves. If you are lucky, like I was...you even get to dance! lol Also, keep and eye out for appearances by people dressed up as characters...this time i got to meet Charlie Chaplin!
google avatar

Yelp
First time visiting Calle ocho?. Looking for a good place to have a drink? Stop looking, this place have a great atmosphere, good service, friendly bartenders and fantastic drinks. The music was load enough, but still be able to have a conversation without raising your voice. I ordered a mijito, it had the perfect balance between alcohol and mint.
google avatar

Karen N.

Yelp
Good music good drinks what more could want Little Havana. The staff are very nice and welcoming
google avatar

Angie P.

Yelp
Very cool museum. This was one of the stops on our tour. A lot of beautiful pictures and artifacts to see. There is also a nice bar and if you check in on Yelp you get a free Mojito yassssss!!!! That's reason enough to come here! The people were very nice here and I heard that they even have live music and dancing, so if you'd like to see some history and have a drink this is a great stop in Little Havana!
google avatar

Natalie D.

Yelp
Very lively place! I literally felt like I was in Havana. The live music was great. The decor is authentic and the staff is friendly. They sell cigars but I quickly realized this isn't a cigar bar. The selection was decent but the storage of them was questionable. Our cigars were dry and getting them cut and lit was a project. And hate to be a Debbie Downer but while the rum selection is great it definitely isn't the worlds largest. I felt like I transported to another time and place and look forward to going back next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
Cubaocho is conveniently located next to Ball and Chain, also appropriately named Cubaocho (perhaps after the same street Cale Ocho) and has outdoor seating where one can enjoy a good Cuban cigar which we did with an 8 year Añejo rum from Guatemala. The list of rums is extensive and there are plenty of cigars to choose from as well. The outside wall art features local and nonlocal musicians from the Beetles to Pitbull. In side of Cubaocho a live band was also playing but we took our cigar and rum and seated ourselves amongst the art and pedestrian traffic taking it all in. The cigar and rum are always a nice way to relax after a good dance.

Yelp
This is a must stop place. We were walking around, and I tried to open the door but it was closed. The guy inside opened it and let us in and said that we were welcome to walk around take pictures and order beer. We went in and walked around and it was jaw-dropping. It was an amazing space with a great collection of paintings. The ones that they did sell, they made a printed copy and made them into tables with very cute frames. All the tables were amazing to look at and all the chairs did not match each other. It was an eclectic place and I was happy to spend time inside before it opened. We finally got a beer and walked around some more and sat at different places. This is a touristy spot because there was a group of people coming in and looking at paintings with a tour guide. Regardless, I can see why a lot of people make a stop. Not all touristy places are bad, some are popular and I can see why. I came again the following day and ordered a mojito. It was alright but the point was walking around and just enjoying the paintings and just the feel of it. I highly recommend this place. Suggestion: Come early, as soon as they open to get a full experience with not many people inside. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
This place is a gem in Calle ocho. Awesome drinks. The live music is amazing. The place won't disappoint.

Javier P.

Yelp
Popped in for a single drink. Grisel the manager tried to get my party of 3 to move to another table while already seated and having our drinks All that was needed to see.
google avatar

Vicki Y.

Yelp
This place felt like the rainforest cafe for adults. I went around lunch with friends and paying $18 for a cubano that did not taste like a sandwich that's worth $18 was frustrating to say the least. Not to mention they charged an additional $10 credit card fee on our bill that was not listed on the initial itemized bill they showed us. Very sketchy and they charge you 3.50 for a water bottle.

Andrew S.

Yelp
We were looking forward to the advertised show tonight, but the place was closed when we arrived. We had made a reservation through their online system and received a confirmation email. Yet, closed. And we weren't the only ones. Several people came by at the 6pm showtime and were just as surprised as us that Cubaocho was locked up. No sign. Nothing.

Yelp
I ended up here one night after finding another location in the area too crowded and with a long line.  My friends and I walked over saw that there was no line, had great LIVE music and a great ambiance so we decided to try it out.  We were not disappointed! We went straight to the bar and order our margaritas.  It was a pretty good margarita and it was not served in a small glass.    The place is quite a long venue and it has one bar (for what I can remember), right when you come in. They have tables set up for you to sit but we found most of them with the "reserve" sign.  They do have table service if you prefer for your drinks to come to you. The band that night was playing some good OLD salsa and people were dancing all night long.  I believe they have different themes each night so be sure to check out their event calendar.  I think they even have Salsa classes on one of the nights.  Hope you have a blast if you find yourself vising little Havana.  Enjoy!

Yelp
The two stars are for the look and decor of this place which is really nice. We only had one beer of their poor selection of brews because it was hot and we just wanted to refresh. Upon checking in, we were surprised by an offer for a free mini mojito. But then, something I really dislike happened. We were told that they wouldn't honor it because it was outdated. I kindly pointed out that it had no expiration and that if they didn't want to offer it any longer, they should take care of that through Yelp to avoid this situation. So not only did they NOT honor their offer, the beers were priced higher than what the menu said and they automatically add 18% tip. And it's bad practices like this that makes other touristy places look bad. I'll update this review if management does the right thing and honors the offer they made me.
google avatar

Michele L.

Yelp
Really fun environment and great vibes. Came in on a random Saturday during the day. Free mojito with Yelp check in! It was delicious and very well made! Live band and singer was performing and the groups that were there were dancing and having a great time. We sat at the bar and sang along a bit to the songs and just relaxed. The location is so eclectic. It's a museum, but also a car, but also a performing arts center center, haha. I love it. It's great! Would have loved to see what else this place had to offer but since I'm not from the area, perhaps next time!

Yelp
They have a wide variety of liquor, certainly not the largest by any means, at least up front. The problem is they don't have a menu and don't really know what they have so if you see what you like, you're good. If not, well good luck getting a recommendation and then of course who knows how much it will be. They show being closed on Mondays but were clearly open. Probably losing business from those learning about this place and then thinking it's closed.
