I happen to be one of the biggest smoked everything lover, and I’m always looking for the best BBQ chicken, and have found only over the years a few places in LA that I like, then I heard about Cuckoos Nest and immediately tried it, picked up a bag full of chicken and fresh coleslaw and potato salad and their amazing cobbler too! It is really amazing, smoked and so flavorful! The baked beans w pulled pork are also incredible! And we get to meet more friends in our community every time we go!! Thanks Jesse and crew!

This has to be THE best BBQ in California. The brisket is tender and very moist. The pulled pork is the same. The Hungarian sausage has amazing flavor. Jesse and Pam are great hosts. It is definitely a must go to place!

The Cuckoos nest offers a variety of delicious meats. Southern style smoked flavors will take over your mouth. The sides are the most flavorful dishes you can imagine. By far the best food in California! No other place can compare. I would highly recommend the. Cuckoos nest BBQ for your next catered event impress your guest with savory flavors that you can’t find anywhere else.

So, first time in LA and I’m on my own. I find a great place to go hiking in the canyons and when I’m done I happened upon cuckoos nest barbecue. Jesse and his family are delightful and the food is some of the best barbecue I’ve ever had. I come from Virginia which is well known for this stuff so that is saying some thing. Perfect! Thank you for your welcoming manner and your excellent food. It made my lovely day even better

We tried the 14hr slow cooled Wagyu Beef Brisket and it was not only melt in your mouth tender but the spice rub on it was also perfect!! The BBQ chicken was equally amazing and the owners are very personable. We'll be back! Note, that while they have tables and chairs in their driveway, the place isn't really a restaurant so takeout is recommended.

Before I get into how incredible the BBQ is, let me tell you about the hardworking pit master and crew. I was greeted to a bucket of FREE beer while I wait for my order. As if I won’t be stuffed enough from my meal, I’m offered samples of some delicious meat and a dessert that I would never think to order (I ended up ordering 5!). The crew is hustling to pack orders, but are chatting you up, making sure you’re enjoying your time at “The Ranch”, and having a blast doing it. You could feel the love and soul in what they were doing. The love and soul in the food, however, could be felt, smelled, and tasted from first bite. I have had bbq in all the hot spots of this country, and this was without question the best I’ve had. Ribs falling off the bone, juicy brisket bursting with flavor, Tri-tip that you wish would never stop being sliced to perfection. Every bite was out of this world, and you could see that in how carefully crafted Jesse’s (the pit master) approach to smoking meat is. Go experience Cuckoo’s nest bbq at The Ranch. Next level BBQ!! I found Cuckoos Nest on Yelp and decided to use them for a 7/4 party. We ordered pork ribs, brisket, chicken, bbq beans and coleslaw. Everyone commented that everything was the best bbq they had ever had. Meat was perfectly seasoned and "falling off the bone" tender. No carving required. Traditional homemade tomato base and mustard based (Calabasas Gold) bbq sauces were provided. Jesse (the owner) gave us great advice on how much to order. My only regret is that we didn't order more bbq beans. We're looking forward to leftovers.

I've been here more times than I can count. Bbq is 5/5 across the board without fail - among the very best in LA. For a mid-westerner, Jesse knows his way around a smoker. Service and ambiance are amazing - you'll feel like you're visiting old friends.

Wow, I don't know how I got so lucky to find this secret gem tucked away in the canyon, but I am so grateful for it! I was looking for some BBQ Super Bowl weekend and this showed up in my search. I made an order on their website for Super Bowl specials, drove up the next day, and showed up to find a beautiful pop up with a nice outdoor setting, huge smokers, and the nicest people. The whole operation looked like a labor of love because you can feel how the people running it care about what they're doing, who they're serving, and making damn sure they do it well. Everyone at the party enjoyed the brisket, chicken, and pork ribs along with all the sides and sauces. You literally can not go wrong with anything you order on the menu. We'll be back for more! By far, the best barbecue experience on this side of town. Preordering was easy, and the vibe when you get there is laid-back, inviting, and warm. The giant smokers running next to the driveway, plus all the seasoned oak sitting ready to go, indicate just how legit this place is. The brisket is Texas-style, salt and pepper rub only, with a bark and a melts tenderness that is just perfection. The whole chicken comes out perfectly juicy and flavorful, and the ribs were like meat candy. I am incredibly impressed by this place, and Jesse is an absolute master. Highly recommend to everyone!

Quite simply the best barbecue in Los Angeles. Brisket perfect, pork belly, perfect, homemade sausage, complex and delicious, beef ribs (couldn't get them, tragic). Fantastic people as well, the real thing.

Very Delicious barbecued brisket, baby back ribs & pork belly! I was looking for pre-cooked bbq meats for Thanksgiving & found Jesse (owner) and Cuckoos Nest BBQ through Yelp about 5 days before Thanksgiving Day. Jesse was very thoughtful to respond by Instagram & email, then phone, to help me with my order. On Thanksgiving morning, I picked up the cooked items. Everything was vacuum sealed & easy to reheat. My family enjoyed every morsel that there was hardly any leftovers! The brisket was tender & had just the right amount of fat. Meat on the baby back ribs was tender & cooked to perfection, that it fell off the bone & didn't require gnawing at all! Looking forward to trying other items from Jesse/Cuckoos Nest BBQ! This is a pop up spot that is amazing! Everything was absolutely great the sides are also amazing and smoked. I just showed up with out pre ordering and was handed enough samples to fill me up. By far the best Smoked BBQ in the Valley, no other place comes close. The hospitality was world class, thank you Jesse.

Just a few adjectives to describe the grub: AMAZING, STELLAR, SENSUAL. Not just your average BBQ - it's the kinda stuff you have to travel far for and if you don't live in the area it's definitely worth it to travel for and you absolutely should!

I have been all over the country and make it a point to sample the local bbq wherever I can. Honestly, Cuckoos Nest is some of the best I've ever had. I personally love his tri tip and brisket. Both are perfectly flavored and moist. Melts in your mouth. You won't be disappointed.

Well I don't think I can use enough superlatives to describe the food and hosts. Jessie and Pam are seriously too nice to be real. They make you feel at home and appreciated while delivering the best brisket and rice and beans. Everything is fabulous but those are my favorites for sure. And in addition to the hosts/purveyors warm welcome and conversation, random customers were engaging and interesting as well. I can't tell you what a fabulous Saturday afternoon they provided for us. Just go there! I sort of don't want to share them but everyone deserves the experience. And it isn't one and done. It is a habit forming addiction.

I ate here for the first time today and I wish I had discovered this place earlier. If you're like me and you've been looking for Texas style BBQ in Southern CA, your search is over: this is what you want. These guys aren't messing around; everything I tried was awesome. Highly recommended.

Ok where do I start. Jesse @ Cuckoos Nest is a real master of his craft. I ordered a big load of stuff for a poker night at my house and my guests and I were floored at the quality and flavor of this BBQ. Most of my guests didn't even want to use the BBQ sauce as the meat was so juicy and flavorful! The sides were delicious as well, with such attention to detail. We were given 6 different sauces, additional toppings for the mashed potatoes, delicious homemade pickles... I mean c'mon Jesse!! He even had the food delivered at the time I requested by a lovely family member. Just really made us feel special and appreciated, along with delivering an incredible, generous meal. I'm from Texas. I know good BBQ and I know bad BBQ. There's a lot of mediocre BBQ out here in California. Cuckoos Nest has my stamp of approval, if it means anything as a Texan raised on BBQ dinners. I will DEFINITELY be ordering again.

Last weekend Jesse fed some of the best BBQ to me and seven of my closest friends spur of the moment. Man didn't blink taking a large party last minute. He was welcoming, funny, and generous. The whole vibe was community love, I felt like I was in the closing scene of Fast and Furious 10. Just family. HANDS DOWN the most tender brisket I've had in my life. Ribs fell off the bone. We ate and drank until we literally couldn't anymore. This is a must try if you are in the area. Thank you again Jesse!

I was lucky enough to find Cuckoos Nest through a friend and I just can't say enough about the food and the hospitality. The brisket, tri tip and pulled pork were melt in your mouth amazing. Jessie makes his own BBQ sauce, which is also excellent, but you don't even need it the meats have so much flavor. If you're into BBQ, please do yourself a favor and make this a regular stop if you're in the area. There are tables, beverages and good times ahead I promise. I will be back very soon.

This place is awesome. Amazing barbecue and such a great atmosphere, the owner and chef are so accommodating and friendly. It's an experience like no other, feels like your with friends you've known you're whole life!

Jesse is not a pit master. He is THE pit master. He fed my friends and I til we were filled to the brim with brisket and ribs. The best BBQ I've ever had in my life hands down. I showed up hungry, and left with a new life long friend in Jesse. I will be back!

Amazing! Every single thing we tried, and the list is long, was incredible! Each person in our group agreed that it was the best BBQ they had ever had. From brisket, to pork belly, to handmade sausages, it was all incredible! You will not be sorry that you gave this place a try. We live about an hour away and are already planning a trip back. Plus, Jesse is so lovely to deal with-- a true master!

Delish and unique!!! Nothing compares. You have to try the tri tip and the Cole slaw. Mind blowing.
