The 34 Best Restaurants in Madrid, Spain | Eater

"The Cuenllas family first opened a grocery store near Templo de Debod at the end of the 1930s. It has since become an icon of Madrid for its commitment to serving products of outstanding quality. Fernando Cuenllas, representing the third generation of the family, expanded the business in 2021, offering some of his favorite items at this wine bar and delicatessen located in the Salesas neighborhood. Come for anchovies from Santoña, cured meats, sophisticated canned goods, and a unique take on a hot dog that swaps the sausage for artichoke and ham. Best for: A bite with a rare bottle of wine. The shop carries around 75 bottles hailing from all over Europe and Spain, which you can take to go or enjoy on site with your meal." - Paula Móvil

Stumbled upon this little gem on our way to the park. We decided to give it a go and sit outside. The staff is super friendly and the food is fantastic. They don’t have the typical menu, everything has a special touch. The wine was also delicious. It is on the pricey side but this is compensated with the superb quality of the food and the friendly staff. It is also dog friendly. We loved it so much we went back a week later!

I had a great evening at Cuenllas Salesas! The food was more than delicious, and the sommelier had amazing recommendations that really suited our taste! Amazing and friendly service, great and tasty wines and a very nice location! Would definitely recommend to all wine lovers!

Terrible service. Had to chase the waiter down multiple times and was close to cutting bread myself to put some more on the table. In his defence, doesn’t seem like a place that can be served by just one person on a Fri evening so clearly understaffed. Food very average and expensive for Madrid standards. Try Vinology instead.

One of the favorite bars in the area. Love their outside seating on a cute little street with trees, inside is also very cute. Great wine selection and would recommend a cheese plate

Lovely winebar with a selected range of low intervention wines from small vignerons in a fantastic venue!

Wine and smiles are not mutually exclusive. Weird bar. I've been here three times now. I am a huge wine lover and love to meet people passionate about wine. I love to drink and taste wines from all over the world of all different styles and love to discuss wine. This bar somewhat managed to suck that joy out of me. Don't get me wrong there are some interesting bottles on show here (maybe not enough) but I have had a couple delicious glasses here. I recommend the Arinto. I have also had a couple of decent tapas / raciones here too. It is standard charcuterie fare, a overpriced but it is good quality. However, the service is just miserable. The two guys I've seen working here act as if they are too cool for school. They don't care about their customers or the wine they are serving. They throw it at you. Most of the time they just answer questions by grunting. I really feel they are giving wine bars a bad name. I desperately wanted to like this place because there are not enough serious wine bars Madrid but the servers completely ruined the fun. If like me you want friendly but knowledgeable service of wine...avoid this place.

So happy I found this adorable place! They have excellent wine and the alcachofa was heavenly. Great place for a date or wine with a friend. They only do wine by the bottle and it isn’t cheap so just be prepared to pay more than the usual 4-6€ for a copa.

I really wanted to like this place. To be fair, the place is super pretty, inside they have a big wood table that's lovely and even the bathrooms are super nice with like red walls and funky floors. We ordered champagne per glass but the waiter never showed us the wine menu and he never pointed out the price or anything to make us aware that each glass was 12euros. True, we could have asked but the treatment was never friendly at us. It was rushed and very cold. When they brought the food menu, the waiter never took time to explain us the dishes and there are some things in it like the tomato with stuffed prawn tartar, that if you don't ask you'll never know that it's not just a tomato. It's really irresponsible considering it's not even written on the menus. On top of that, they said everything was to share and the portions could not be smaller, so that was very deceiving from a consumer perspective. We ordered: - Hot dog with artichokes. The artichoke was great, nice flavor but really unnecessary to put that on a brioche hot dog bun. Also, it's a single portion and they said it was to share. - Razor clams were usually good but also small portion and nothing spectacular either. - Setamen: this is like a "ramen" made only of mushrooms. Looked very pretty but it was literally the size of an espresso coffee. We were four, it was ridiculous they said we could share. - Cheese plate really small but OK. Also nothing you can't find anywhere else in Spain where there are great cheeses in lots of places. Overall, pretty place but very overpriced, the food is really not that great, but for a drink it's ok. Just ask for the wine menu before ordering 6 glasses of champagne.
