LIAISON

"The sounds and aromas of cooking waft out to the tables from the open kitchen, whetting both anticipation and appetite. Chef prizes the fusion of French cuisine with Japanese ingredients. Cold hors d’oeuvres of seafood are dressed with cream of dried bonito flakes; straw-fired cooking techniques infuse meat dishes with a Japanese fragrance. His French culinary experiences are used to draw out a distinctive personality in Osaka." - Michelin Inspector

An absolute gem in Osaka. The food at Liaison is a beautiful harmony of flavours — every dish is thoughtfully composed, with sauces that elevate the ingredients without overwhelming the original flavours. I loved how the restaurant masterfully blends French culinary techniques with Japanese ingredients, creating a unique and elegant dining experience that feels both refined and deeply rooted in its locale. The staff were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience with their genuine hospitality. The ambience is calm and stylish — perfect for a relaxed yet elevated meal. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a Japanese interpretation of French cuisine done with finesse and heart.

I did my research and had decided to try a new French restaurant during my Osaka trip this time. This place DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. WOW. Food was impeccable, attention to detail can be seen not only on the plate but also during the service. The small intimate setting with the open kitchen was a perfect vibe. We went for lunch, which was an absolute bargain coming in just under $100AUD per person, great value for money. Everything was delicious, but the toothfish was the highlight. I would highly recommend anyone who reads this review to include this place on their itinerary. I cannot praise this place enough.

This Michelin starred restaurant in Osaka served up exquisite modern French cuisine which I enjoyed tremendously. Located on a side street, Cuisine Français Liaizon has a very relaxed and yet elegant setting. The set lunch had around 9 courses and there were two types of wine pairing options; 5 or 7 types of wine. As I had a flight to catch later that afternoon, I went with wine by glass and there were great selections to choose from. All the food was delicious, fresh, beautifully cooked, presented and served. My personal favorite were the “shiitake mushroom stuffed with venison patty” and the “roasted duck”. Both of these meat dishes were rich, earthy and extremely flavorful. Services were impeccable and they delivered high-quality fine dining experience that exceeded all my expectations.

The Fukushima location in Osaka is a Michelin star restaurant as of 2024. The kitchen is open and the dining room is elegant and welcoming. The service is a bit limited in English but compensated with an amicable and accommodating approach. The sommeliers are very knowledgeable and their recommendations have always worked very well with the chosen course meal. Elegant French cuisine with some Japanese ingredients. The menu changes with seasons, bringing the freshest on offer.

Pinned this restaurant for my Osaka Marathon trip. As always, my husband and I love Japanese chef preparing French cuisine. For, Liaison, we were impressed though there were only 2 tables on Sunday night dinner. Probably people were scared away by the closure of roads due to Osaka Marathon. Chef had details and knew how to bring out the best of each ingredient. As Japanese beef is one of the best, my husband asked to double the size of his main dish and he was totally blown away. I asked to change from beef to whatever chef had that evening, he prepared the Spanish Iberico for me. It was so tender. Highly recommend and restaurant carried quite a wide range of decent wines and the price was reasonable.

The best French restaurant in Osaka I've ever tried. Each dish comes with elegant flavors. Ingredients are carefully selected and prepared. I enjoyed the best lobster here. The house dressing is excellent. The milt is also superb. Overall atmosphere is great and the staff are professional and friendly.

Excellent dining experience, mix with local ingredients and French cuisine , pairing with 7 wines in a perfect combination of local , French, Italian and Spanish wine. Staffs are friendly and welcoming. Also value to money in a place of one star Michelin. Restaurant atmosphere in white and woody furniture bring you a calm and peaceful vibe. Highly recommended for a fusion of franco Japanese dining experience.

Just had the most fantastic meal here. Started with delicious little amuse bouches and just built up in terms of complexity and flavor with each dish. Wine pairing was brilliant and optional black truffle shavings over the duck was awesomely over the top. Truly excellent service from both waiters. Chef was gracious in coming to the table to say hello and take pictures with us. Cannot wait to return to see his next menu. Cheers! DocMikeChiro
