We were greeted and seated within 1-2 minutes max. I was immediately overwhelmed by the awesome ambiance that lends a homey feel but also one of comfort and interest for new and different things!
I'm more than used to British fare and Irish food as well. My father's family is Irish and so is my husband's. Can't say much after admitting your mother in law's maiden name is Fitzpatrick. We may have grown up here in the states, but there's certain things you're traditionally fed that keeps you informed of the traditional flavors of the "old country".
Since it was also my husband's first time here, he also got a free "lemon drop" shot. It's 5 Sisters Vodka, Triple Sec and fresh lemon juice with a lil bit of sugar on the rim. Wowza! Excellent!!
I ordered a plethora of appetizers based on various reviews and knowing what he and I would like best. I ordered us the rueben egg rolls -- DELICIOUS! -- the sausage rolls -- SIMPLY AMAZING -- and a Big Sis Pretzel (for the hubby and LOVED it!).
For dinner, he ordered the Kyle's Fish N Chips (spectacular!) and I ordered the Blarney Lamb Sliders (just awesome flavors in each bite!!) with a small "crock o' stew" on the side so I could try what all the hype was about! My husband absolutely almost licked the bowl clean (he said it was the best thing he had tonight--I beg to differ) and we ended up taking home some of "Paddy's Bread Pudding" with the accompanying vanilla sauce but minus the ice cream since it's about 70-80 mile drive home and I don't think it'll stay that cold in my jeep lmao!!
Despite the fiasco of my husband dropping his drink and almost throwing it on me in the process, soaking my phone, food, side of the table, shirt and shorts, I have to say it was one of the (rare) best times we've enjoyed somewhere! Glad we came here to the original location close to Atlantic Beach.
Our waitress, Chloé, was excellent. Laughed at our jokes, offered us good options for appetizers, drinks, food, and dessert! Talk about welcoming and personable...I don't know how it is at their other location, but this one is phenomenal in all ways.
The food was hot, fresh and delicious. I simply don't think you could go wrong with anything they have on their menu. It's so different from the normal fare offered practically anywhere. The closest we've come to such awesome food in a warm, homey pub atmosphere was the one time we were able to go King's British Pub out on A1A closer to St Augustine. But even THEY can't compare to what we just enjoyed tonight...sorry...but Culhane's has them beat hands down.
Everything from shrimp tacos to Angus burgers to shrimp & grits and don't forget the amazing cocktails made with the owners' brand of vodka (5 Sisters)...you will surly find something to quench your appetite and your thirst.
We also got to meet Dennis, the manager, who was doing bartending when Guy Fieri was here last...he was so wonderful to meet and talk to! He said he did like this big show with flaming bottles and all that, but all they showed was like 5 seconds of him leaning across the bar . Lol Happens to the best of us...but he is a great manager if tonight was any example of his leadership here. Color me very very impressed all 'round.
Do yourself a favor and try one of these gems...they've got the two locations...you will most certainly be satisfied!
