"Founded by Mikey and Sara Carnevale, it revolves around a portable but mighty Ooni pizza oven that the couple received as a wedding gift. After traveling through Italy and Europe for four months last year, the Carnevales returned to San Diego and rolled out the pop-up at farmer’s markets in Solana Beach and Linda Vista as well as Culture Brewing Company’s tasting room and brewery in the Cedros Design District." - Candice Woo

Google
I actually enjoy the visit to Culture Brewing.!!! Pass by Solana Beach for business so many times but never have a chance to enjoy this place. You can get 3 tasting for $4 I think is really good value special until you find your favorite. Service was really good. I purchased 6 tasting cups and Amanda the girl at the bar was really nice and assist me to carry them to my table. I will comeback. I love the atmosphere and the chance to see all the Brewing Tanks.

Google
Culture brewing has such a cool vibe both inside and outside! The back area has plenty of room for sitting with friends, uncomfortable couches and chairs! I’m not sure if it’s here every day, but they had a fantastic pizza available to order. One thing that I hadn’t seen at a brewery before was that their beers were gluten reduced, and they told me that they put a special enzyme in the beer to make it safer even someone with celiac disease to consume! I’ve never heard of that before and I think that’s a really cool innovation. Beer was fantastic! 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Google
Amazing experience. I’m not a big IPA guy which can make finding tasting rooms with choices for me kinda hard in North County. Culture had 3 standout beers for me. The Bock, the Brown Ale and La Cerveza (which when translated means a whale’s… oh never mind). The patio area is awesome for larger groups and they had a BBQ food partner that is simply the best I think I’ve ever had in the area. Mad love to Skillaz Grill & Smoke. The owner and his family were hanging out. Super nice people. Love supporting local family owned businesses like this. We will be back.

Google
Very cool brewery. Several styles with a cozy space. More room out back with a fun patio space. Great beer. Definitely a spot to check out if you have been or not.

Google
One of the best Brown Ales I've ever had. They told me they use cryogenically frozen hops for the Mosaic IPA (one of their flagship beers) which enhances more the aroma than bitterness, and I agree! I don't normally dig modern IPAs but this one is pretty darn delicious. Staff is chill and friendly. 😎

Randall LeRuth

Google
Fantastic local brewery. Gold Medal Brown Ale and a wonderful selection ranging from session beers to special flavorings to outstanding IPAs. The staff is wonderful, and typically you'll find an owner/investor or brewer in the crowd. Great vibe with large outdoor area and airy light throughout. Monthly art exhibition on the walls. Walking distance to Solana Beach train station, Fletcher Cove and the Belly Up. Family and dog friendly. Just plain old wonderful

Google
A neat little brewery in Solana Beach, but don't let size of the location fool you. They actually serve a wide variety of great tasting beer. I tried 5-6 different types and I would say overall the taste is on the lighter side but still flavorful. Service was excellent.

Richard Lossing

Google
Large, varried selection of beer - don't let the small size fool you...these are big beers! I prefer IPA and the Mosaic was great (and clear); the Palm Hazy is outstanding!

Danielle S.

Yelp
We swung by Culture Brewing while out and about in Solano Beach and were able to try their award winning Gose while it was on special. It was very easy to see why it won! The front area opens to the Main Street with bar stools that allow you to sit and sip your drinks while enjoying the open air. The bar tenders are all knowledgeable and can guide you to the beverage best for your tastes.

RJ O.

Yelp
This is a relatively small micro-brewery in the center of downtown Solano Beach. They serve a small variety of tacos that we did not indulge in, but the offer a very good variety of craft beers, including a very good chocolate oatmeal stout and black IPA. Friendly staff, great location.

Dee C.

Yelp
We stopped in to check out the monthly art exhibit that was up for the month of August by our Friend artist Sarah O'Connor. It's a cute place and the servers working there were very friendly and nice. I enjoyed a cold refreshing vanilla ale.

Glen K.

Yelp
Beers were great! The service was good - staff was very friendly. The back outdoor patio was okay - good to be outside. The outdoor fired pizzas were a nice addition, although pricey at $20 for a small personal pizza made in a small portable gas fired pizza oven.

Clythie C.

Yelp
Culture is such a great spot to go for a delicious beer in Solana Beach. The service was so great that I felt like we were friends with the person who helped us choose drinks and the person who was running the guest pizza oven out back. The patio is a perfect place to chill, in comfy chairs or at a picnic table. See you there again soon!

Melissa D.

Yelp
Took some friends and my dog here after celebrating his 6th birthday at the dog beach LOL. All the staff were so friendly and sweet towards us and wished my dog a happy birthday. I've gone here several times and never been disappointed with the beer! I always love supporting San Diego breweries. I noticed they now serve some food in the back patio which they didn't have before so that's cool! (Although, I didn't try it nor do I know if that's there everyday)

Yelp
I recently went to Culture Brewing for a macrame holiday decoration workshop. I am not a beer drinker, so I usually only go to breweries for events. Culture Brewing is a few doors down from the Belly Up music venue, so parking can get a little tight. I wound up parking about three blocks away. It was a cold day in December, and I was unpleasantly surprised to learn that the bar is totally open... not windows in front, just walls open to the street, and the workshop was also outdoors in the back garden. I walked up to the bar asking if they had wine, or something other than beer. They didn't have wine, but they did have a few other options. The bartender was vey friendly and understanding that I had come for the workshop, and helped me find something I liked. I tried a sweet-flavored beer and a couple of seltzers. Finally I settled on the apple seltzer. The garden area was really large and nicely decorated with barrels and string lights. I loved that the music all night was a playlist of my favorite 80s new wave bands. There were plenty of heat lamps in the garden, so I was warm during the workshop. This is a nice environment and I would love to hang out there during the summer.

Magnus H.

Yelp
Amazing beer and even better service. Their hazy ipa is just right. The perfect balance och sweet and juicy without being too fruity or overly sweet. A joy

Emily J.

Yelp
We had a great time!!! The taco guy seemed a little stressed. Nevertheless, good food and good beer and good cheer!!!

Michelle N.

Yelp
Some of our friends recommended Culture Brewing after we visited the Del Mar Dog Beach, so we headed on over for some afternoon beers! - PARKING - Pretty tough considering its all street parking, but we got lucky and snagged a spot right outside! - SERVICE - The taproom opens up to the main front room, where there is seating along the entrance as well as a single table near the front counter. In the back, there's a patio with more seating, although I wouldn't recommend bringing a party bigger than 6 as it's hard to sit together. They have a few long tables, but just enough for 2 parties worth. - DRINK - Fruited Sour Gose: Really refreshing and fruity! I enjoy Goses and this was right up my alley. - OVERALL - I only had one drink this time around, but I'm definitely keeping this on the list of places to go if I'm in the area again!

Tiana F.

Yelp
What an enjoyable pop-up experience! I attended a "Don't Tell" comedy event at Culture, and it was fantastic. I adore the ambiance, beer, and community at Culture Brewing. Despite the chill, the heat lamps kept us cozy. I wish it wasn't set up so formal as a show though and maybe had tables around for people because it was a little tight, and that's not the Culture environment. The downside was the pizza stand sold out by the time we arrived, even though we were punctual and had tickets. It seems some attendees were let in without tickets, which was disappointing. Nevertheless, I'd gladly return for another visit.

Leo B.

Yelp
Stopped in with friends for a pint and got the Bock- a deep rich and flavorful beer that did not disappoint! Met some cool people who were friends of friends and would go back next time we are in Solana Beach!

Marlow H.

Yelp
I have always enjoyed going to Culture. They were my favorite tasting room in OB and now that I'm in Del Mar twice a week, they have become a trusted place to drop in for a few hours to get some work done. Very disappointed to swing by tonight to find the owner has commandeered the porch for a private party, leaving his faithful patrons to the front with only 10 chairs...two of which were occupied by employees on a break. There are other places to go in Del Mar that seem to have more consideration for their regulars. View Point. Local Roots.

Andrew R.

Yelp
The "OG" Culture Brewery is kinda a hidden gem. It has the great vibe of a local, neighborhood brewery with friendly staff and not a pretentious feeling like some craft breweries unfortunately have. The layout is very nice with a front seating area and a "backyard" with upgraded seating facing the coast. There are some great options from IPA's, Pale Ales, Hazy IPA's, stouts, and even "seltzies". Come on a Wednesday night and it's musical bingo. Also a food truck may show up but check ahead.

Monty D.

Yelp
Culture Brewing according to their website "embodies the ethos of the neighborhoods we call home" and you can tell this is true. This is a tasting room, not a bar, which sets the vibe of laid back quality enjoyment. Also as such, by licensing, they close at 10pm and can't serve other than what they produce. On our first visit we sat at the railing along the sidewalk - we like people watching. As part of the entertainment was their sign (see pic). In watching the patrons come and go, and having watched the patrons on the back patio, we could tell this was a regular/local hangout for friends gathering. The vibe was open and welcoming. They offer the usual variety of beers, and we weren't disappointed in our selections. For a relaxing place to meet friends, enjoy a good beer, and talk (there weren't any TVs) this could be place.

Sue M.

Yelp
Cool space, good beers. They have a patio out back that is pretty chill. You can also sit in the front and people watch! Parking can be tough sometimes, especially if there is a show at the Belly Up, but that's Cedros for you. Worth checking out if you are in the area!

Michael S.

Yelp
One of our favorite brew pubs in SD. The brown ale is great, along with the Encinitas hazy ipa. Cool atmosphere, feels a little bigger than the Encinitas location just up the 101. Edit: spelling...

Debi R.

Yelp
This was our second stop on our walk to local bars/breweries. We were here on a Friday afternoon. The patio area was full so we sat inside. I wanted to order the Vanilla Orange Cream Ale, but was talked out of it. I instead ordered the Blonde Ale. It was very good. Nice and smooth. I'm not an IPA lover, but thought the Encinitas IPA was tasty as well. Not sure what the other reviews were talking about when they mentioned having to purchase pre-packaged snacks. We just ordered a couple rounds of beer and took a couple 4 packs to go. Not the friendliest staff, but the beer and company were outstanding.

Nick C.

Yelp
I don't drink alcohol at all (I already say and do enough stupid s*** sober), thus, it's unusual for me to be in a bar, let alone leave a Yelp review for one. I just wanted everybody to know that. That concludes my review. Good day. Jk. So we do a Monday run club with our dogs every Monday at 6PM that starts and ends at Culture brewing in Solana Beach. This review is partially about how accommodating culture brewing has been to our group and our dogs, but especially about the bartender, Amanda. This bartender tends to upwards of 40 patrons completely by herself while dealing with the expectedly unexpected nonsense these slovenly heathens relentlessly impart upon the place. Within an approximately 4-minute span, I saw Amanda serve 7 drinks, cleverly deflect an unwanted advance from a patron who was unreasonably optimistic about his prospects of taking home more than a souvenir mug, cleaned up a glass beer glass that a guy had knocked off the table and half jokingly blamed on his dog, and then (literally) gave a dog a bone. It's challenging to find employees like Amanda. I hope Culture does whatever is reasonably feasible to retain her.

Amy K.

Yelp
I tried the grapefruit seltzer, pineapple hoppy wheat, and tart pineapple wit beers. I'm a fan. It's around $4-$5 a small pour. It's mandatory to buy meat and cheese plate $10 as Covid policy. Good vibes in Solana beach.

Julia H.

Yelp
Stopped for cold beverage after Torrey Pines Reserve. Open exactly at 2. Small atmosphere and decent beer.

Wayne K.

Yelp
Five stars for having NA options. The back yard is great for hanging out and it's right next to the beach! N/A Hoppy Seltzer 4.5/5 Decor 4.1 Vibe 4/5 We

Franklin M.

Yelp
I'm going to have to reduce a star because this place closes way too early on the weekends. What's this 9 o'clock - is this is a senior community? Breweries on weekends are the place to go and should be open to at least midnight. I arrived at 830pm and I could tell the bartender did not want to serve me because I might go over the 9pm hour. I advised him that I'll drink my Mosaic IPA real quick and get out before quitting time.

Scott C.

Yelp
Outstanding beers on tap and it was a mellow vibe from start to finish. Several larger groups hanging out having some beers but that didn't distract from the fun. Even ended up buying some glass wear to remember hope good the spot was down the road!

Kelly A.

Yelp
I love this place I come here ALL the time. I came in last night with some friends around 7:30 and the lady working could not be bothered. I work in service so I understand not having a good day, but she came off very angry and uninterested. We minded our business but we felt I welcomed the whole night. She closed down the place very early and when we came back inside she gave us mean looks as we were walking on the floor she just moped (it was 8 and it closed at 10). Just felt super I welcomed and sad! Because I really do love culture and have always felt so welcomed, expect for last night :(

Shea S.

Yelp
I enjoy this location pre-gaming when heading to the Belly Up. They have a good section of beers on draft, ie more than just a bunch of IPA's. They'll usually have multiple sours and/or a cream ale. Staff is always rad. Good indoor and outdoor seating

Sylvain B.

Yelp
I am a big beer drinker. Not that I'm "big", but I drink beers. A lot. 5 stars because Culture Brewing is in my opinion the best brewery in San Diego North. They craft the most tasty and the finest beer I found while drinking around the county. They are not the cheapest brewry BUT... the quality is here. They always come out with unique blend, flavors while keeping award winning lagers, IPAs, reds and dark beers. Even my mother enjoyed their beer (especially the fruit flavored ones). Outdoor patio, dog friendly, opener front window, clean place, very friendly staff. There is sometime a food truck/stand in the patio area. They sale beers (cans) to go, straight from the tap. A little plus: they have regular art exhibit in both Encinitas and Solana beach locations.

Gary P.

Yelp
WOW!! What an amazing beer. The "Culture" here is pretty dang amazing. Not your usual pretentious SB settings even though it's on Cedros!!! Laid back feel good vibe for sure!! Their outback patio area is perfect to relax, talk and just mingle!! I shall return for sure and sample the vast assortment of brews they have!! Thumbs up brewmasters and thumbs up space designer!!

Danny W.

Yelp
Of all the breweries in North County sometimes it's easy to forget about Culture, but I really love this little taproom right off of Cedros! Here's a few reasons why in bullet form... -It's dog and kid-friendly -Has rad art all over the walls -Outdoor seating in the back to enjoy the sun -Rotating food trucks -Bags(or cornhole), ring catch, and other beer games -Very friendly beer tenders Most importantly though, the beer is awesome! If you're a fan of sours or easier to drink stuff, you're gonna be stoked on their taps. Hell, you'll be stoked regardless of the style of beer you enjoy. Culture is a Solana staple.

Deanna N.

Yelp
Came here with a couple coworkers after work just for a glass of beer and it was a cute little place. We were only there for maybe 45 mins so we didn't stay too long. The have merchandise that you can buy which I did - cute little summer tank. The beer itself was pretty good and I really liked the outdoor seating they had in the back. Overall, no complaints, good waitstaff and decent little beer bar.

Dan P.

Yelp
Great spot and setup. Always has a good variety of good beers from sours to stouts. Also great tacos on Fridays usually. Very dog friendly. Spots to drink in front near the street or in the back with tables.

Morgan H.

Yelp
Culture Brewing Co is a quaint craft brewery located in the Design District of Solana Beach. They also have locations in Ocean Beach and Encinitas. The inside is small with a few barrels to use as tables. On a breezy Sunday afternoon there was a consistent line to order but it moved quickly. The back patio is the place to be. There are a few tables and interesting rolling benches. They have corn hole as well. It was quite relaxing to sip our beer and feel the cool ocean breeze. They DO NOT serve food. We were deceived by all the food photos that come up first when searching on Yelp. They have food trucks out back but on the day we went there was a shaved ice truck. I thought that was an odd choice for a brewery. I don't really want to eat a watery dessert while I'm drinking beer. We were starving and hoping for an actual food truck but they do provide free pretzels so that held us over. I know now that you can find a calendar of their food trucks, events and specials on their website. Be sure to check! On to the most important part: the beer. They have a good range of lighter to heaver selections. My bf doesn't really like beer so I ordered him their Blonde Ale to keep it light. It was tasty, crisp, and had just the slightest bit of sweetness. I went with the Mosaic IPA. It had that hoppy punch that you expect from an IPA. They offer tasting portions but not flights. This is a nice place to pass some time.

Rosie O.

Yelp
A great micro brewery right next to train station, in the design district, Solana Beach stop, San Diego CA. Came in on train from Santa Barbara, five hour smooth ride, right on time. Then excellent find one half block away, Culture Brewery. Friendly staff, good beer and welcoming sunny back patio to rest, regroup, and wash the dust out of our mouths. This small micro brewery taproom is family, dog friendly, no food available, but do have food trucks occasionally or bring your own snack. Did I mention the beer is great, good variety, something for everyone. Culture started by some college friends and has grown, I believe this great spot is their third location with main brewery in Oceanside. Worth a visit.

Emily H.

Yelp
Perfect place to lounge outside with a good beer, your dog, and your friends! We stopped here after walking up and down Cedros Avenue for some shopping. The outside area was the perfect place to relax and catch up.

Grace S.

Yelp
Always a great place to get a beer and hang out with friends/family! Definitely recommend!

Spencer S.

Yelp
Street front and part of the main design district. A block from the transit center. Indoor and outdoor area. No indoor seating whatsoever. Minimal outdoor seating, so most people have to stand while drinking. Not ideal. Employees were not the friendliest, but also not rude or anything like that. They have a pretty large beer selection. However, the staff was weird about giving tasters, which I've never experienced at a brewery before. Value is middle of the pack. Not a steal, not a ripoff. Enjoyed the beer!

Craig W.

Yelp
There are no chairs, stools, benches or seats here! But you can still have a very good time. The beer ranges from meh (Bud Lightesque) to really good. The milk stout was nice and smooth. The hard orange soda tasted EXACTLY like regular orange soda and was insanely delicious. Good music on the sound system and friendly counter gals. And no chairs. Get over it.

Erik S.

Yelp
This is an excellent brewery. Almost all the beers are very, very good, the servers are friendly, doggies are much appreciated, and there's a back patio. Beers: I particularly enjoy the milk stout, the mosaic IPA, and the tart cherry wit. I'm not a big fan of their dunkel; I'll let the guys at Karl Strauss fulfill my needs in the German department. Facility: Cool, airy, and open to Cedros street on most days. There are often some interesting art projects adorning the walls. There's a ramp leading to an often-sunny back patio that has furniture made from repurposed pallets and a mega-Jenga game. It can sometimes get crowded. People: Staff is very kind, helpful, and readily hands out samples of beer. I've found many beer snobs here of the most friendly and unpretentious kind. This all leads to a fun vibe, and an intelligent kind of fun vibe as well. Your Four Legged Kids: Very welcome here, far more so than across the street at Carruth Cellars, where the owner's mood factors in. Culture staff give every dog one of their spent-grain treats, and after that, there are jars of pretzels which my pup sure doesn't mind having cast her way. All told, this is what a brewery / tasting room should be.

Meri D.

Yelp
*GREAT BEER* near the coast.~ Culture does brewing right.. Nice selection to satisfy any beer connoisseur's palate! -sweet coastal location -good service -wide beer variety -decent pricing -Jenga Game here & Ring Toss game!. only played Jenga.. it's fun with extra large blocks =] -laid-back atmosphere inside and out.. nice outdoor patio -chill vibes Fave beers here: Nelson IPA & Sour Cherry -+Perfect local brewery to get some sips in!+-

Maricela H.

Yelp
I've been to this place a few times, although it's far from home I quite enjoy this brewery. I's a family friendly place...however you may want to keep your family away from me, I curse way too much. Someone should start a curse jar if they hang out with me to fund my eating and drinking habits! Anyhow, the location is cool not much in front parking which puts me off a little since I like to park my bike up front. At this location parking is tight even for motorcycles. When you finally do find a spot a cold refreshing beer awaits you. They have a little patio that feels like someone's back yard. Not mine because it's a mess and over run with weeds but someone has a nice back yard like that I"m sure. There was an event the last time I was there with many children and dogs. All the animals and dogs were well behaved so it was a good time! Now for the beer... I usually stick with a taster flight but the few times I have came I found something I loved so I committed...yes I committed to one beer. I had the Stout and tasted my friends IPA which was fun. I'll definitely be back for a taster flight and who knows I may commit again.... or not either way I'm going to have an awesome time at Culture brewing.

Eva L.

Yelp
300th review of Culture Brewing Co in Solana Beach - WOOHOO! Every experience I've had here was been great. It's a cute place w opened window/patio front that's welcoming, a jar of pretzels to munch on while drinking some beer, & big games of jenga to play in the back of the brewery. Beer list is up on the wall & big for you to see, the people are usually nice, & they have a bathroom for their guests right by the front register. I'd say the atmosphere is pretty rad here - relaxing for the most part. It's in a prime freaking location too: right by the beach. My husband & I find ourselves going here after taking our little pup to the dog beach. YES - one of my favorite things about breweries like these is that they are dog friendly! Every brewery that brews food beer & allows fur babies in their facility gets a thumbs up from me. So, when you're around, take a stop by here & grab a beer - it'll be worth it!

Mark S.

Yelp
Use to be a favorite, but the last couple of visits the beer did not taste fresh (mosiac ipa) and the owners raised the price of a pint by a dollar. The owners do not get that people come to breweries for a good value. Now it is cheaper to go to the local pub to get a pint. Mark, Cardiff

Spencer M.

Yelp
Over 20 beers on tap and all beers are glutten free. I am not a glutten free beer type of guy but I must say that I could not tell the difference between culture brewing and a regular beer.

Sean C.

Yelp
I was a little disappointed by the beer based on the raving reviews I read before trying this place out. Cool spot and beer garden, but after sampling most of the menu I found the drafts to be subpar relative to other places in the area. The IPAs and Stouts lacked that flavorful punch I was looking for.

Karen H.

Yelp
We stopped in on Sunday after brunch at the Brig. My BF has been dying to come here. The atmosphere is very laid backed and fun. Very dog friendly everyone had a dog here. It's not a huge brewery but it gets you to mingle with your neighbors. We ordered our beers and then walked up the ramp to the patio in the back. They turned wood pallets into seats in the back. They have a jumbo sized Jenga game and this really hard ring toss game. Wear comfy shoes you'll be doing a good amount of standing until a seat opens up which doesn't take long. When you're on the back patio you feel like you're at summer BBQ in your friends backyard. Everyone is so friendly and easy to talk with. The dogs are super friendly. The service was excellent here. We had a such a great time and it's in our favorite area. Right on the corner of Cedros. We'll be back!

Kris M.

Yelp
We love the beer and atmosphere at Cultivate Brewing Co! Great location. Staff is also friendly. We'll be back!

Bob M.

Yelp
I fell in love with the West Coast Session IPA the first time I walked in to this place. Pet friendly and people watching prime location. They don't always have the session IPA but it's worth checking out frequently in case they do.

Nari H.

Yelp
Solid brewery with great beer selections at a standard/not too pricey price. We opted for flights and and sat in the back where there was outdoor seating. It wasn't huge but we came on a weeknight so seating wasn't too hard. Had a great time, recommend to anyone.

Laurie H.

Yelp
I totally misread the Yelp 411 on my mobile and thought we'd find food here. Unfortunately it was a Monday night, so no food trucks to be had (which is why so many food photos showed up on the Yelp). I will say it was a super cool vibe here...we walked past the bar to the outside where there was a group of holiday revelers, some wearing Santa outfits, and when I asked the staff if it was private party, they told me that it wasn't - it was their local runnning club doing a Secret Santa exchange. Fun! It was a bit chilly to stay outside so really didn't get to see the vibe out there...but inside was nice, too. I can't give them more than 3 stars until they add some stouts that aren't milk...but the milk stout they did have was just fine. I'd definitely come back and give it another shot!
