We're not in Kansas anymore.
The place a little hard to find. You can't see the entrance from the street. It's in a generic warehouse-y area. The entrance is, well, kind of bland.
But you walk inside and everything changes. There's string lighting, TVs everywhere, colorful murals, and real-live booths. It looks and feels like a restaurant. Like somewhere you want to hang out. You may not be in Oz but it sure ain't Kansas.
You're here for the beer, of course, but you should absolutely come for the fresh deli sandwiches, too, brought to you by Locally Toasted. These sandwiches are as good as any around. We tried the muffuletta and the Billy Beef (London broil, bacon, cheese, cheese, avo) and they were both excellent.
I tried two beers and they were both very nice examples of their styles. El Tigre is a "Baja" lager and it's nice and clean and refreshing. Hardly, Maybe is a Marzen lager and it's a little darker than a regular lager and it has a nice, rich taste and plenty of flavor.
By the way, they don't do flights or tasters, which is a drag, but they will give you tastes at the bar, if you're curious about something.
And about those sandwiches...The entire menu is killer. These are terrific sandwiches and you simply must get one. You can thank me later.
The staff was very friendly and they are both kid and dog friendly. And they have three full-size pinball machines.
Beer, sandwiches and pinball in a casual, welcoming environment. No ruby slippers but do you really need anything more?
