I had a weekend event at the Comfort Suites hotel Oct 28-29, 2023. During lunch break I was gonna go to In & Out Burger on the other side of the fwy, but I'd have to drive there. I had always wanted to try Culver's cheese curds, seeing them on Culver's ad on TV. I decided if I didn't go there now, when this Culvers is right next to the Comfort Suites, I'd probably never make a special trip.
I asked the Culvers employee taking my order to describe the curds. He said it had a breading coating and was deep fried, and the cheese inside would be hot and stringy. I asked if there was enough to make a meal. He said no, it is just a side.
Well, it came in a VERY small sack containing very few pieces and costing $4.69 + tax = $5.17. There were about 10 pieces about the thickness of a women's index finger to the middle joint. Wow, I calculated that each pieces costs 50 cents.
And when I bit into it, itemperature was hot, but the coating was so thick and hard like it was coated with cornmeal, and the yellow cheese was not melty. Some pieces of the coating got stuck in my teeth like bird gravel. It needed catsup, not provided, I had to go back and ask for it.
I didn't like it, cos it was the cost of a single patty butter burger, was mostly breading, and didn't taste good. I almost thought about getting my money back. I was really disappointed in what you get for the money. For over $5 I woulda rather have ordered a butter burger, more of a meal.
Well, I achieved my "wonder what the curds taste like". Ick! Never again.
The cashier did not ask me in advance, if this was takeout or dine in, he just assumed dine in, so gave me a number sign. I wanted to take out.
