The MARGARITA cupcake was a masterpiece, and quite possibly the best cupcake i will ever eat. The cake part, which was lemon flavor, was the perfect physical equivalent of the image that appears in my mind when I think of a cupcake - light, soft, airy, delicious - like eating a cloud that was turned into cake! The icing was the perfect, sweet, thick complement to this, with the perfect amount of sweetness (not TOO much). I would give this cupcake 6 stars if that was possible, and I will remember it forever!

Google
I love the Cap Hill location. Really friendly and helpful people. The store is cute with a lot of fun party stuff. It's exactly what I want when buying cupcakes. It's really unfortunate that the cost -cutting has reached the cupcakes I have loved for over 15 years. They look like they are half the size that they used to be. They used to barely fit in the box, they were so big. I'm glad they still taste as delicious as ever, but it makes it difficult to justify the purchase. I'm grateful to have known Cupcake Royale at its peak, and hope to see it there again.

Google
My absolute FAVORITE GF cupcake! I get a few every time I’m visiting Seattle. My friends who eat gluten also love their regular cupcakes. Friendly service and great coffee as well!

Ordered from here once, 3 yrs ago. Now it seems like I'll be getting spam email from them for the rest of my life. Impossible to unsubscribe. I get emails weekly and I no longer live in the area. Please stop sending me emails.

Google
Good cupcakes but just a little small for the price.

Rin is the best! She helped with all kinds of questions and was so supportive sending cupcakes from afar!

Great cupcakes!

Yelp
Nice cupcake and pastry/dessert shop located on Pike right in the heart of Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. Great cupcakes and service - recommended!

Yelp
A cute little shop with lots of personality. A variety of flavors available, I bought the lavender and red velvet. Lots of cute merch, gifts and cake decor supplies.

Yelp
The last location in Seattle. I can't even begin to tell you how addicted I am to the cupcakes. When I have a sweet tooth craving, I immediately order the cupcake with sprinkles. It's so moist and delicious that I order two at a time and I'm not ashamed. Love the customer service and will always come back
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious little bites of regret and guilty pleasure! (You'll hate yourself in the morning, but dream about the gloriousness all day long!) The friendly staff will definitely encourage you to buy more, and trust me, they are not wrong! Buy lots! You will eat everything... and you WILL LOVE IT! Adorable little Burien spot, tinier than west seattle, but perfectly capable of serving all the treats you need

Yelp
Cupcake Royale is my favorite cupcake shop in Seattle! The customer service is great and the clerks are always friendly to me. The atmosphere is very hip but also very casual and is a great place to meet up with a friend. It has a very coffee shop type of vibe. They serve cupcakes, coffee, and more! I have purchased several types of cupcakes from Cupcake Royale. All of them have been delicious. I especially love "the gay" cupcake and the red velvet cupcake. They are very good, tasty, and absolutely delicious. The cupcakes go great with ice cream as well. The cupcakes are a little on the pricey side, but they are a smaller business, not a national corporate chain, and they do produce high quality cupcakes, so the higher prices are to be expected, and well let's face it, it's Seattle and everything is high here. I highly recommend Cupcake Royale if you are looking for some delicious cupcakes!

Yelp
The most delicious cupcakes everrrrr!! And the bakery team is so wonderful when you go pick up your order at the warehouse! Great experience, highly recommend.

Yelp
I absolutely adore these cupcakes. The cake is perfect denseness and the frosting is sweet but not overwhelming like many others. I have tried many cupcakes and these are my favorite. I don't live close to a Cupcake Royale location, I live in South King County, so when I stop in, it's because I'm in the area or it's a special treat. Recently I was extremely disappointed to find out that they no longer have discounted cupcakes at the end of the day. Each cupcake is about $6 a piece so they are generally out of my budget at full price. Especially when the family wants to enjoy one too. Sadly I probably won't be back due to this change. If the owner ever decides to reconsider this new policy, I'll definitely return.

Yelp
Four stars because it is a bit overpriced but also 4 stars because it yummy. If you are in the mood to splurge a bit for a $5 cupcake. Go here and you will not be disappointed. It's in the junction so parking can be a thing but it's worth it.

Yelp
Cupcake Royale is an institution. It is by far my favorite bakery in Seattle. I'm shocked by the low reviews here. I mean do you guys even know? lol.

Yelp
Thanks for having a Vegan option. It was a hit for my vegan friends, they loved it. They were also a hit for my non-vegan friends. As usual, Cupcake Royale delivers! Thank you!

Yelp
How I heard of this place: Cupcakes. Who hasn't heard of this place? Possibly the first cupcake shop in Seattle before the cupcake made a comeback. Type of cuisine: Cupcakes and coffee. Tea is also available, not to mention ice cream, and some other quick grab and go treats. Ambiance: Cafe-style. Dark wooden furniture, a barquette at the window with seating, displays of cups and t-shirts for sale, friendly baristas and colorful cupcakes behind the counter. Very casual and open to long-term seating with laptop or paper at close range. What I ordered: Celebrating a birthday party, we were invited to this location for a choose-your-own-treat gathering. Here, our family selected the Salted Caramel buttercream atop a chocoalte cake cupcake, and the Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting. And the ultimate in dessert perfection, the Tiramisu cupcake. What I loved: The moistness and density of the cake. The cream atop the cupcakes, always uniform, slightly crunchy exterior and smooth interior. Oh yeah. Why I loved it: You always know what to expect - sweetness to perk you up in the mid- to late-afternoon. Cost: Average for today's trendy cupcake frenzy ($3.25 per cupcake)

Yelp
The cupcakes are pretty good, but the service is not. I called to confirm an order for my friend's bachelorette party and they acted like it was such an inconvenience to walk over to the computer and "boot it up" -- I also asked about the pick up time and was cut off saying that the time doesn't matter. I thought it was maybe just this person having a bad day until my partner picked up the cupcakes on a different day and was met with an annoyed employee who couldn't bother to be there and help. Something seems off with the employee morale.

Yelp
So I live in the bay and I'm use to these boutique style cupcake shops . None of them half as good as these. If you are from the Bay Area you will get these cupcakes that look good but you take a bite and they taste plastic. Now for the actual review after sharing my thoughts on Bay Area cup cakes. The cinnamon roll cup cake tasted like a actual cinnamon roll. The frosting and everything was sweet it was flavorful and incredible. One of my favorite films , pulp fiction will have you asking what you call a quarter pounder with cheese in France , if you know the answer to this in my Samuel L. Jackson voice " you a smart motha fucka" . Royale with cheese was incredible, it was sweet and savory it was chocolately . Idk how to describe the flavors bud the cupcake was fresh , moist and just so good. I don't think ever had a cup cake better I ended up buying more to take to a New Years gathering .

Yelp
I'm not a big coffee person, so I can't vouch for that, but the cupcakes are legit. The lavender and lemon flavors are a personal favorite of they are available, but no complaints on any of the flavors. The staff is always really nice and accommodating even on busy days like Sundays. It's a cute lil shop and if you happen to like the color pink, you'll feel right at home in their interior.

Yelp
Came for the coffee (love Stumptown), threw it in the trash on the way out. Worst cappuccino I've ever tried and the service was rude.

Yelp
We were on our way to Husky Deli for ice cream when we noticed Cupcake Royale. I suggested we give it a quick look before heading over for ice cream. Well...we didn't make it to Husky Deli. Instead we left with 2 coffee drinks and a 6 pack of cupcakes. We ate the strawberry shortcake one right away and it was light, airy and moist. I'm not a fan of a lot of frosting but it was all very delicious. Everyone that worked there was friendly and helpful. I'm shocked the reviews are what they are. I definitely, would come back. I appreciate the variety of flavors.
google avatar

Abby C.

Yelp
These are the best cupcakes. The price is a little nuts, $11 for 2 cupcakes. The coconut bunny is my favorite. The only issue was that they only had 1 person working. Several people left because it was taking such a long time
google avatar

Yelp
I try not to eat all the icing but it was good. Moist cake but I prefer denser take and less sweet.
google avatar

Yelp
Terrible customer service here, I had a birthday reward here and the worker didn't greet me happy birthday. I don't recommend this place and I won't be back here again.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
I spend way too much money here, not because it is expensive (it isn't especially) but because it is SO GOOD! The people that work here are so friendly too! My go to isn't even a cupcake, I can't get enough of the Salted Caramel Cupcake Ice Cream Affogato! And they are on the TooGoodToGo app so I get to save money on their yummy cupcakes! I smile whenever I open the door here!

David Q.

Yelp
We love cupcake royale so much. I cannot say enough good things about them. It's a family tradition to go.

Ariel S.

Yelp
cupcakes are great, but their staff is completely rude and unwelcoming. When you speak to them they completely feel and sound annoyed to be there. Time for new employees - I won't be coming back..
google avatar

Yelp
Using their websites's we ordered 36 (6 different flavors) cupcakes for our friends and family annual BBQ! The cupcakes were on time for pickup, fresh and delicious!

Yelp
I always love Cupcake Royale! I am not usually a cupcake person, but for them I make an exception. There's something about their frosting that just leaves me craving it. It's rich without being overly buttery (like store bought frosting is). Their flavors are also incredible and always shine through! They have a great mix of tastes without being overpowering. I had the cinnamon chai and LOVED it!

Yelp
I walked in and asked for the "Best Cupcake In The house." I was very disappointed to receive a stale cupcake. No moisture, no decadence. Frosting lacked any other taste than "sugary." Normally cupcakes exhibit a distinctive hint of its "named essence" but it was diabetes at first bite. I wouldn't return.

Yelp
I'm a fan of Cupcake Royale, but this West Seattle location isn't the best. It's cool to have this spot right in the junction, but I've experienced better cupcakes at its other locations. My colleague and I visited Cupcake Royale for lunch, as she always wanted to try a cupcake from here. We came around noon and there was a customer in front of us who was waiting for a coffee. When she got her coffee, she asked if it was decaf, which it wasn't, so the employee had to remake her drink. It took longer than expected; but fortunately, we weren't on a huge time crunch. Not a big deal. My colleague ordered the Katie cupcake while I had the triple chocolate. I'm glad that she enjoyed her cupcake, especially since it was her first time here. But my cupcake was dry, which usually isn't the case at Cupcake Royale. I love chocolate, so do enjoy the triple chocolate flavor. But the chocolate cake part wasn't as moist as I had hoped. Overall, if you're looking for a cupcake/dessert in West Seattle's junction, then Cupcake Royale is there. However, if you can go to its other locations, like Capitol Hill or downtown, you'll have a better experience there. Plus, they have ice cream that they can scoop up for you for a cupcake sundae versus just offering the to-go pints here in West Seattle.

Yelp
Cupcakes here were pretty good! The salted caramel one was fantastic, chocolate base, cake itself was nicely moist, salted caramel frosting was a tad on the sweet side but not overpoweringly so. The tiramisu one wasnt as great, i'd give that maybe a 3/5. Vanilla base was less flavorful. Cake itself was still light and fluffy but not a strong tiramisu flavor for the topping. Staff was friendly and packaging is perfect. Nicely holds cupcakes without messing up the frosting.
google avatar

Jesse G.

Yelp
First there was Cupcake Royale, and then everyone in the world sold cupcakes, and now there is still Cupcake Royale, which is how it should be. Reliable place with solid and time-tested flavors. I always like the red velvet and salted caramel. The cake isn't overly sweet and has a nice texture and I feel there's a good amount of frosting - not too much but not so little that you want more. In this particular shop in pre-COVID times I have noticed that going in at the end of the day will give you a bit less selection, but that's typical for a bakery. Going in on a Monday post COVID there was a wide selection and clear direction for where to stand and what to do, which I appreciated. These cupcakes do become rapidly stale if you don't eat them right away - but they make that very clear on the packaging. Fortunately it's not usually a problem for me to eat cupcakes right away.

Yelp
Not impressed. We walked in, all wearing masks. We are happy to follow the rules and wear masks. As soon as the employee sees me walk in pushing my 12-month-old baby in her stroller, he immediately calls over to me saying my infant is not allowed in the store without a mask. We have to leave because of course, we don't have a mask for our infant. For a business who has signs in front saying how "all are welcome", they were pretty intolerant to my baby who can barely walk or talk. Not to mention, the CDC strongly advises babies under two to NOT wear masks, due to suffocation risks. Ridiculous, we have never had this happen before. Everyone should spread the word that Cupcake Royale in West Seattle discriminates against babies. P.S. your cupcakes aren't even good. Dry as the Sahara desert.

Yelp
This place was alright! I love the branding and the colorful interior of the space, but the cupcakes did not blow me away. I got "The Gay" which was a birthday cake cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting. Frosting was good but the cake part was dried out. The presentation of all the cupcakes was beautiful but the taste and texture unfortunately did not live up to the appearance.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
Hands down the best cupcake shop in Washington. The ingredients are clean, local, and delicious. The flavors and texture of these cupcakes are unlike any other cake/cupcake bakery in Seattle. This shop has become my go to bakery when it comes to picking up a sweet treat for a friends birthday or for a easy and special shareable treat for the whole office. They ALWAYS cheer people up or make them smile which I love. My all time favorite flavor is Dance Party because I love vanilla cake. My current favorite seasonal flavors are the Blueberry Brown Betty which is a blueberry vanilla cake and a Streusel topping and The Gay which is a fluffy funfetti cupcake.. need I say more?! Try to get these while they are still in season. I have also started purchasing their ice cream which pairs oh so well with the fresh cupcakes.
google avatar

Wennie H.

Yelp
Similar to a la mode, this is also down the street and we often pop in for a cupcake...or two. I like this location because it's so big but I don't like how the options seem to be out...or dwindled down when I make it in. I can't help that I can only come in after work, when all the pickings are slim! My favorite is the dance party though just because it's a classic. I really also like the lavender one, the hint is not overpowering. The frosting is my favorite part, it isn't too rich or heavy, but the cake is a little denser than other places.
google avatar

Mimi T.

Yelp
Always by passed this place whenever we were in the area. Finally, made a point to stop in here to get some cupcakes. I bought a 4 pack. It was package in separate holders for the cupcakes which is good so they don't get smashed with the others or against the box. I ordered the: salted caramel; lemon drop; tiramisu; and the oreo. I ate the tiramisu before I remembered to take a picture of it. The cupcakes was so dry and crumbly, like it was a few days old. The frosting was good. For $4.75 a cupcake its not worth it for dry old cupcakes!!! Definitely not going back.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to the Cupcake Royale in Madrona but they were already almost sold out on cupcakes at 2pm (08/02) Crazy! I drove over to West Seattle to see if they had any vanilla cupcakes. With my bad luck, a sign on the door said "be back in 10 mins." Despite waiting those 10 mins, the service was quick & employee was super nice. I didn't get all 6 cupcakes I wanted but I was not wanting to drive any more. I got various cupcake flavors and our family loved them for my sister's birthday. Cupcake Royale never disappoints!
google avatar

Artemis P.

Yelp
This location always has a very calm atmosphere, notably diverse and friendly staff, and is a great workspace. I've met up with friends here several times and I always appreciate the quality people-watching potential of having a location right on the busiest intersection in west Seattle! Oh- also the cupcakes are fire! But it's Cupcake Royale, that's pretty much par for the course.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to other Cupcake Royales before but this one is my favorite. Why? Because the cashier was the nicest cashier ever! My friends and I came in after seeing the sign for the special autumn flavored cupcakes: pear ginger and the pumpkin cardamom. The cashier gave us a friendly greeting. I ordered a pear ginger cupcake and then asked about their pumpkin latte and whether that had coffee in it. He told me that they can make it without coffee and then immediately poured me a sample of the coffee-free drink. He explained that it was steamed milk with pumpkin purée and a few other spices mixed in. It. Was. Yummy. So I got an 8 oz small cup of that. If you eat your cupcakes there, they put it in a real (cute and pink) plate and you can eat it with real silverware. It took a while to get my pumpkin latte - it was a busy Sunday morning. But it was nice and warm and it tasted like autumn!!! Such a lovely time of year. It went well with my delicious pear ginger cupcake. My friend's pumpkin cupcake was great too. They're gourmet artisanal cupcakes, so they're a little pricey, but they're such sweet treats!

Yelp
Dryer than an unbuttered piece of toast on a hot day under a heat lamp in the middle of the Sahara. I bought 5 of their (way overpriced) cupcakes average price was around $4.60/each just over $23 for 5)) At that price, I didn't expect the cupcake to be a life changing event; I did however, expect a delicious/moist lil piece of heaven. These failed on all accounts. Although I ordered: red velvet w/cream cheese frosting, a strawberry rhubarb, a "kate" (whatever that is), a margarita, "____ party". (Whatever it was, it wasn't a "party" of any kind....) Strangely, all the cupcakes tasted pretty much the same. They were dry and only a slight variation in the frosting of the "margarita" and of course the filler of the strawberry rhubarb. These tasted as though they were made 48 hours prior and left to sit on the counter until I ordered them. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a good cupcake with REAL frosting (not that shortening/sugar crap you get from safeway)... Did I eat them? Let's just say, I live 40 miles south of this store, and at almost 5$/piece, my other half and I choked them down with a big ol glass of milk and a grimace.... #wontbedoingthatagain

Vickey S.

Yelp
I went in to purchase a dozen cupcakes to take as a gift to an office where I had an appointment. I chose 12 cupcakes. The cost was $60! I know everything is expensive, but $60 for 12 cupcakes that turned out to be very dry. I know it difficult to run a small business, but I feel this cost is outrageous. The service was prompt and courteous as there were no other customers there.

Peter C.

Yelp
My daughter and I stopped by for ice cream 35min before they closed and noticed that all the chairs had already been put up on the tables so we sat on the bench instead. One of the employees informed us that the dining area was closed even though it was still 30min before closing time. There was one other individual in the dining area that wasn't eating anything but seemed to be waiting for one of the employees to get off work. I don't understand why a business would close the dining area so soon unless they just wanted to get out early. I emailed my displeasure to Cupcake Royale that evening but the only response I got was a to stop by on my birthday month. Uh no thanks!

Yelp
Stopped in to buy cupcakes at Cupcake Royale for The Homie while wandering West Seattle. Definitely I had much better luck with parking than visits to other locations in Madrona, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, and Ballard. Cheerful counter staff and a well stocked pastry case. There's also a wide variety of merch with tongue in cheek puns and humorous sayings. Bought four but ended up eating one sitting at a counter seat. The Classic, with moist vanilla cake with luscious chocolate frosting with tiny sprinkles. Baked with love, total culinary hug!

Yelp
I am so thankful Cupcake Royale have baby cakes. They are the smaller version of their ginormous and delicious cupcakes. I was in on Thanksgiving to grab a latte between celebrations. They gave me a gingerbread baby cake -- yummy! The latte was good too.

Yelp
I only eat sweets made with sugar a few times a year on holidays as I'm diabetic. So getting to have cupcakes from Cupcake Royale while visiting some friends here was quite a treat! There were four of us so we got four cupcakes and split them all, so that we could experience the different varieties. My favorite was the white chocolate and cranberry, it was so light, fluffy and tasty, with a tart, fruity center. Loved it! A close second was the tiramisu, it was light, creamy and full of mocha flavor, really good. The other two were also quite good, just not my personal favorites. The lemon cupcake was delish, but for my tastes, could have been just a smidge more intense and tart. The chocolate with salted caramel icing was also flavorful, I'm just not a huge fan of salted sweets. I loved the shop and love that they have gay cupcakes and dance party cupcakes. A really great experience that I hope to repeat another time!

Yelp
I love these cupcakes!!! I ordered some for my son's birthday while we were having lunch at Jak's Grill a couple stores away. They were the best cupcakes ever. The salted caramel was definitely my favorite. I loved the grasshopper, also. He had a lemon drop, butterfinger, and red velvet (don't worry, we didn't eat them all in one night!). He didn't share his, so I can't say how good they were. By the sounds he was making while eating, I'd say they were pretty darn good! I'm definitely looking forward to the next celebration so I have an excuse to get more!

Yelp
Where we lived before, we had a ton of cupcake places within walking distance, and they were fantastic. One had oreo cupcakes with vanilla as the base and Oreo chunks, which no other cupcake place around did. And they were delicious! We kept passing this place on our walks, so today we finally went inside. Really cute place, and clean, which we immediately appreciated. They did have a unique menu, so nothing that I would usually get, so I took a chance on the pumpkin maple and tested their original. The pumpkin maple was amazing, super moist and the frosting was fantastic. My partner thought his tiramisu was too dry. But liked his caramel. It was $18 for 4 cupcakes, which is def more than we paid at our usual places. We're kind of split on this place so far - maybe we'll swing by every once in a while when we have a serious craving. It was nice to support a local place during this time.

Yelp
Fun little place if you're craving something to satisfy your sweet tooth. Came here after having a birthday lunch with my coworkers. We mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and we were give 10% off. Really friendly service. We tried the Key Lime Cupcake and it was beautifully delicious. I got an almond milk latte with one pump vanilla and it was the perfect pick me up. We were also able to sample the "Deathcake" and it was absolutely sinful. SUPER rich and chocolatey. I'll take death by chocolate any day. I would like to come back and try other cupcakes in the near future. The atmosphere is adorable. Very PINK, do NOT drag your boyfriend here. Seemed like a decently popular place, at least right after lunchtime. A line soon started to form after we stood there and stared at the display case for a few minutes. Since it was 1 pm and I was having a rough work week, I was highly intrigued by the "Royale B-52 Cupcake." This cupcake had a rich chocolate cake with espresso buttercream and had a bit of B-52 in a pill like dispenser at the top. Yes, yes... I think I'll be back for you next time.

Yelp
By far the absolute worst cupcakes being sold in Washington State. I have had them delivered to my office several times now and every g.d. time they are dry as the Sahara, and the frosting grainy & sugary. I am floored that they have received a single positive review. Genuinely floored. A more appropriate name would be Shitcake Royale.

Joe M.

Yelp
Frustrating trying to give this business money. They are continually out of cupcakes hours before they close. I realize cupcakes are perishable so they don't want a lot of extras but when you are completely out, hours before you close, you are very poor at projecting product. Why stay open to pay staff to say "were out" . They are losing out on sales and marginalizing customers. Cupcake is in the name but they don't have any to sell. This is not just a covid era challenge either. A few employees behind the counter have a sorry not sorry attitude. I get the feeling they feel they are doing me a favor. They want an hourly wage and tips to do as little as possible. It's not easy to access the business unless you walk or you pay for parking or get lucky to find street parking. Surprised this business is staying afloat based on the above. This is a prime location, rent is high.

Yelp
We've been to Cupcake Royale many, many times but tonight was special. Tonight we came in a bit late, just as they were closing but Christina was so kind and helpful at the end of her shift. It took us some time to pick out the cupcakes we wanted but Christina was patient with us and joked around about her favorite flavors while we tried our best to make our decisions. We were having trouble deciding so we ended up getting all of our favorites. Thank you for being awesome, Christina! Sorry if we spelled your name wrong :)

Yelp
I ordered a tiramisu cupcake and a red velvet cake pop. The tiramisu cupcake frosting itself was delicious but not the cake itself. I thought the cake was just okay. I definitely would not order the red velvet cake pop again. I've had a lot of red velvet over the years and this particular one did not taste similar to any other... and in this case it's not a good thing. On a side note, the square ipad terminal that they use as a register was running awfully slow. The cashier was trying to really hard to small talk but it ended up being super awkward with lots of silent moments. Kudos for trying but sometimes it's better to not.
