A very nice place for girls has a pink atmosphere with nice paintings on the wall, they sell cupcakes and ice cream .. I ordered the coconut cupcake it was a little too sweet and the coconut flavor was lost. I also ordered the salted caramel was not very good I could not finish eating it. The prices were decent and the staff too.

We were walking around Pike Place and figured we'd never been to Cupcake Royale before. There was a line which is always a good thing, especially when it moves quickly. We got 4 cupcakes, Salted Caramel, Cranberry White Chocolate, Vegan Chocolate and the Triple Threat. I felt they were okay. The white chocolate one in particular is my favorite so far. The have a couple vegan options which is excellent. The buttercream was a bit dry for my liking, I've definitely eaten better. Their ice creams are fabulous though! Also picked up capuccino shots. A good place for a quick cup of ice cream or cupcake when you're around.

Google
Really good baked treats that aren't too sweet. There frosting on the cupcakes don't overpower the cake portion of the cupcake. Their cookies are really good at well I just wish they were a little bigger especially for the price. The coffee is pretty good and there's a nice seating area to sit.

Google
I got the Chocolate covered Cherry cupcake and my fiancé got the red velvet. I have never ever put a more delicious dessert in my mouth. My mouth was literally watering and in tastebud heaven the whole time eating my cupcake. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed.

Google
Came here today and tried the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and my boy friend tried the red velvet cupcake ice cream. 2 cups for 10.91. Overall the best one was the red velvet one. Mine was already melting seconds before getting it maybe it’s the salt? And it was too salty for me 🫤Overall I would come back once in a while but would choose the red velvet or Oregon hill strawberry

Google
Delicious place to stop for a quick treat. I was lucky to get some festive cupcakes for a holiday event. My favorite is the classic Kate cupcake (chocolate with pink frosting). They do seasonal seasonal assortments, and serve ice cream and espresso Friendly service and clean.

We bought: blueberry brown betty, tiramisu, royal with cheese, and cookies & cream. The cupcakes were fluffy, and our order came out to ~$18.50 before tipping. The entry door says to “pull hard” and they really mean it!

I LOVE this place. The atmosphere is so cool at the Ballard location, but the food is good no matter which local you visit. The selection is stellar. I've had the Elvis,( p.b. banana and bacon), peach cobbler, eggnog Snicker doodle, and Strawberry Champagne, my favorite. They also offer gluten free and baby cupcakes,( minis), ice cream and tasty beverages. Their ice cream is too die for! I highly recommend the tripple vanilla, also available at Metropolitan Market. It's like no vanilla you have ever tasted. They also serve Stump Town Coffee, so I highly recommend getting a latte to dunk your cupcake in. Oh, they also have doughnuts! Bring the fam and get your sugary snack on.

Yelp
Cute little cupcake shop that shares a space with a coffee shop. Cupcakes were super moist! Some were definitely were tastier than the others, but overall still delicious. The store also offers wifi. A star off because their products are super expensive, coming in at $5.50 for a single cupcake...

Valerie W.

Yelp
As much as I love the atmosphere and cute cupcakes...they are dry as all get out. I've come over the years for a sweet treat, and the cupcakes are sadly not great. Flavor is fine, but they are not moist in the slightest. Go for a scoop of ice cream instead. Or at this Ballard location, a good cup of coffee.

Casey S.

Yelp
I can't speak for the flavor but these are some of the most gorgeous cupcakes! I love that the frosting is not overwhelming like on most cupcakes. The woman working behind the counter was friendly and very helpful! 10/10 would come back again!

Tripti B.

Yelp
We ordered the " bi pride"'and the " lesbian" cupcakes as part of the Pride month theme. Having tried the vo pride at another location I had high expectations but the cupcake was just off. Strictly average at best. Same goes for the other cupcake. For $5.50 per cupcake it is grossly overpriced. The service is strictly average. The ambiance is lovely though, but let's face it, the food has to be good! I would give this location a miss.

Yelp
Normally when I come to Ballard farmers, I go to the coffee house next door. I was meeting up with some folks soon and the line in the regular place was so long I didn't have time. I saw the sign for Verite next door and decided to stop in. I am so glad I did! The inside is beautiful and fun! They serve stumptown coffee (yum!!) and had beautiful cupcakes on display. Our little trio got The Gay cupcake the share and it was suuuuuuper yummy. I ordered an iced lavender latte and I think it's my fav one I've ever had! Not too sweet and the lavender wasn't overbearing (no "soap" taste whatsoever - IYKYK). The coffee was nice and strong too the boys got sodas and loved them too. The folks at the counter were so nice and patient as I was figuring out what I wanted. I'd highly recommend stopping by for a brew and a sweet treat!!!

Yelp
Great cupcake spot in Ballard with solid takes on classics & interesting seasonal flavors. I grabbed a 2 pack with red velvet that had a touch of something (maybe cocoa?) that made it richer and a seasonal blood orange cranberry that was filled with cranberry and pretty moist. Service was friendly and helpful, would definitely drop by again...

Yelp
Wow. What happened to you, cupcake royale?! I've been a loyal patron of yours for over a decade at cap hill, Madrona, and downtown locations. However I was in Ballard and decided to check out this location as I had such a hankering for their red velvet cupcake ice cream. 1. Found out they don't do waffle cones in the winter. Okay I get it but sad that it's not offered year round. 2. The scoop was the smallest scoop of ice cream - it was smaller that what you'd get as a kids scoop at any other neighboring ice cream shops. I said wow such a small scoop! Because I was really shocked in that moment and woman behind the counter flatly said "sorry." I've had this ice cream many times in many other locations and it has never been this small. Ever. Seriously it was so small the scoop was definitely not filled - the photo may seem like it's normal size but I assure you it was not filled on the inside. 3. The most egregious out of the whole situation!!! My saddest little scoop of ice cream was entirely of FREEZER BURN. I'm talking full ice crystals in every bite making it almost inedible. Yikes. At $4.75 (pre tax and tip), this was the most disappointing ice cream experience I've had in quite some time. 4. Pint case almost entirely empty... Can't say I will be trialing their ice cream any time soon as this was such a sad and disappointing experience. Maybe if I am desperate for a cupcake, I'll be back... I definitely know every other of their location has never let me down with their customer service nor portion size.

Alexia S.

Yelp
This cute cupcake place was not what I was expecting. I loved the aesthetic and how open it was. It was decorated for pride and I got to try the pride cupcake "The Gay" it was delicious and my favorite kind of cake (funfetti) which is hard to find at cupcake places. I also tried the lavender cupcake and not were delicious. The frosting was the right amount of sweet and the cupcake didn't crumble and was very moist. If you're looking for a spot to study or you have a sweet tooth this is the place to check out! The staff was very friendly which is always a plus.

Svitlana S.

Yelp
Come here first time. Long line, slowly service with veryyyyyy long line. Ordered coffee but is ending, they do Americano, not bad, overpriced. But in every cafe I am order tall size coffee is was 16 oz but this place is 12oz. Cupcake looks not good, even didn't ordered. I didn't know why is place has a lot people. Toilet close for key, need asked in staff, staff say key in corner, where in corner not understanding. Very wearied. Not recommend this place. Didn't come back.

Rebecca P.

Yelp
Stellar customer service and a half-off happy hour near closing time! And the is also good. Bottom line: Take a bow!

Zoe A.

Yelp
Perfect for our wedding! Great communication via email to set up our custom order. Pick up was smooth and they looked great! We got bumble bee because we met on Bumble! They were all tasty and tasted almost like real cupcakes (they were GF). Thanks so much, highly recommend!

Victoria G.

Yelp
Ordered gender reveal cupcakes from here and they were delicious! There was no way we could have guessed the gender before eating the cupcake, which was great. We got a dozen so we were able to give some to friends. Sadly, some went to waste because we couldn't eat them fast enough. My only feedback would be to offer smaller quantities for people like us who weren't hosting a party and just wanted something small and special for the two of us. But still a 5 out of 5 experience! Even the person who gave us our box of cupcakes was super sweet and excited for us.

Rachana R.

Yelp
I'm usually not a big fan of cupcakes because they tend to be too sweet, but cupcake royale always has the right balance of sweetness in their cupcakes. They also have vegan and gluten free options. My favorite flavor is the lavender one.

Gina H.

Yelp
YUMMY GF cupcakes! Friendly service and lots of selection. We will continue to come back here! Will remember our punchcard next time, too

Erica P.

Yelp
We showed up late and it was (only slightly) to our detriment. Stopped into Cupcake Royale on a Friday evening near closing time. As we were crossing the street, we saw several people carrying what appeared to be dozens of cupcakes, so I knew our selection would likely be limited, but I remained hopeful. We entered the store and as I feared, our selection was limited. However, we're talking cupcakes here, so limited selection or not, we were still in for a tasty treat. Kiddo ordered the GF vanilla cupcake, other kiddo ordered the triple threat, I went with the classic and we took a blueberry brown betty home for daddy-o. My kiddo had never had a GF anything before and was happy to report that it tasted "like a cupcake" and was very good. Kiddo number 2 was blissed out by the sheer amount of chocolate goodness found in the triple threat cupcake. I love a yellow cake with chocolate frosting and the classic was right up my alley. Hubs enjoyed the blueberry brown betty, but thought it tasted more like a breakfast cupcake than a dessert cupcake. I am looking forward to going back and trying more flavors!

Derek R.

Yelp
Sophia was very helpful and made our experience at cupcake royale unforgettable for our son ! Thank you!

Esperanza D.

Yelp
Were in the area and I was craving for something sweet. Cupcake Royal delivered it! We got the Apple Sdrudel and Berries/Goat cheese. Yum yum! Not too sweet, the bread was moist and fluffy. Just perfect. Despite it was Saturday, it wasn't busy and there were a lot places to sit and enjoy the cupcakes. The staff went through all the flavors kindly explaining us our choices.

Emily S.

Yelp
I ordered the Gluten free Vanilla Cupcake with chocolate frosting. Sorry can't really review environment or staff since we did a quick grab and go for snacks. The vanilla cake base was delicious and would order again. However I didn't really like the chocolate frosting. I wish there were more gluten free flavour options other than vanilla, chocolate or chocolate vanilla. My friend ordered the pistachio rose donut and said it was good and would go back again to try more of the donut flavours. So overall not bad.

Yelp
Can you think of anything better than a smooth iced oatmilk latte paired with a classic cupcake? I can't, especially during lockdowns. Cupcake Royale is a today-we-grab-a-treat kind of place for me and my partner, and so we go there at least once a month. We're lucky to be able to go in anytime (they have good hours!) because even though service has been courteous downtown, I like this store far better. It's spacious, bright, decorated with a nice, flowing touch, and the people who work there are delightful. As for the cupcakes... Well, we all know how good they are! I've tried a bunch, but my favourites are the classic (Kate) and tiramisu. I definitely want to try the more chocolate-y ones too, and poke my head in the ice cream cooler when the weather warms up a bit. But if you really want the full experience, make sure to order an iced latte! Whether you pair it with oatmilk or something else, know you can rely on it because they use a good blend. Potent but not overpowering, smooth and creamy. Enjoy!

Marie S.

Yelp
This place hands down has the best cupcakes in the city! I had cupcakes and coffee with my bestie here last year for my birthday, it's such a pretty store. I for real had a dream about the amazing red velvet cupcakes and wonderful lattes I have ate here. This will be the first place I come to when cafes are open again. praying please everyone wash your hands and wear a mask! Until the, at least I can order online for my fix!

Yelp
Cute and whimsical cupcakerie in the heart of Ballard! My friend (who lives in Seattle) and I wanted (really, needed) a sweet treat and pick-me-up after all the walking we did in the city. so we drove up to Ballard to walk around there. We came into Cupcake Royale because she said it was pretty good and they have good coffee. I was sold. The shop itself is super cute and very PINK. Cupcake case is in the front as well as their coffee menu and their ice creams that they make in-house. I went simple and ordered their "Dance Party" cupcake which was a vanilla cupcake with vanilla buttercream and sprinkles. I also ordered a 12-oz cappuccino. Both the cupcake and coffee were cappuccino were delicious. The girls working behind the counter were so cute and fun to talk to. Definitely a good place to stop in if you need a sweet treat :)

Yelp
It's with a heavy heart that I update this review and say that my opinion of this establishment has changed. Specifically, I'm disappointed with the general manager Alyson's response to an issue I had. Today I ordered 2 cupcakes through Uber eats. It was my first time ordering Cupcake Royale through the app, and I was pretty excited. I even told my husband it was a "game changer" to order my favorite cupcakes from my sofa. The cupcakes arrived and the order was wrong. Instead of getting my favorite salted caramel cupcake, I got a chocolate cupcake, and a coupon for a free cupcake was taped to the box. The coupon was a fine gesture, but I still wondered why they hadn't called to ask what replacement I'd like, as I don't like their chocolate cupcakes. I immediately called the store and spoke with a cashier. She apologized for not calling and offered a refund. I was happy with that solution. After the refund process didn't start, I emailed the store and the general manager, Alyson, responded. She said Uber would need to process the refund, which is fine. The problem I have is that she then says the cashiers had tried to get ahold of me about the cupcake and they couldn't. That is blatantly not true, as the cashier on the phone admitted when I called. Everyone makes mistakes. If your team made a mistake, own it. Don't try to put it on me and say, "Well they said they tried to call you." No, they did not. That response completely turned me off from this establishment. It's sad because they've been one of my favorite spots for years, but their customer service is poor all the way up to management.

Wendy G.

Yelp
My favorite cupcakes in Seattle! I always stop in if I'm on Market street. They even have a vegan cupcake option! (Double chocolate!)

Mae H.

Yelp
If we could give a ZERO we would... all of the Cupcakes were very dry and most likely a day old + old... the frosting was way over sweet and I can't believe we paid good money for that. They also got our ice cream and shake orders wrong. The cupcakes was so bad That we took a bite and threw it in the garbage. We honestly expected more, they are simply not the same as it Were several years ago. We spent over $50 dollars and really wish we had said something to them about how bad the cupcakes were... but we had already left the area and a drive back was just too much. What was suppose to be a nice treat to celebrate Spring turned out in disaster.

Yelp
Alright I didn't think this place could be more awesome but I walked in and I don't remember them doing this previous years they may have and I might have missed it as I usually donate to Toys 4 Tots but they have tree set up for Seattle Children's Hospital toy donations. Look on the tree and it has tags that list certain gifts you can donate wrapped or unwrapped. Luv it when local companies do participate in things like this. Now as for the shop you can get cupcakes, coffee, ice cream and donuts. They do great designs with their cakes very inventive and unique. They made one chocolate cupcake with a latte looking swirl top, wish I remembered to take a photo. There are so many good ones over the years. Salted caramel yum! Tirimiso yum! Sometimes they have a buy 3 get 3 deal which is another awesome part of the store. It might be cause they have too much left over for the night but hey not gonna complain. Staff is always super sweet like the cupcakes. I can't recall a time where they haven't been super friendly or helpful. A few things I don't like Red velvet is a lil overrated. Parking in the area blows.

Claire W.

Yelp
I had the tiramisu cupcake after just stopping by to "look" and OH MY GOSH I've literally never had a cupcake that tasted closer to the real thing. Super fun and chatty staff too, really enjoyed coming here

Bridgette C.

Yelp
The best red velvet cupcake I have ever had. So moist, while not too dense. The service couldn't be nicer!! They explained the cupcakes in details to me and we figured out which i would like best and which the guests to my party would enjoy. Such amazing cupcakes and such fun!!

Taylor C.

Yelp
This place has amazing service, the employees are so kind and helpful! The cupcakes are flavorful and beautifully designed. Definitely recommend!

Katy N.

Yelp
Cupcake Royale has the nicest workers and the MOST delicious cupcakes ever! Their red velvet cupcake is to die for, I couldn't recommend this place more!

Lee A.

Yelp
I love these cupcakes but will never visit this location again. The customer service was appalling and the staff should be required to wear uniforms. The staff also needs to be taught how to handle food. I've never seen such disgusting food handling techniques. One of the staff members was seriously unwell. She could not walk straight and her eyes were closed while walking. I've never seen such an unprofessional place.

K D.

Yelp
Went in today around 2pm. Horrible selection. There was only one coconut, one tiramisu cupcake, a bunch of Elvis, and chocolate frosting with vanilla cake. I was disappointed how there wasn't anything left and they closed at 7. I asked the woman working there if the whole case is usually this empty and she said no. I got a tiramisu, elvis, and vanilla with chocolate. I am so sad how every single cupcake is incredibly DRY. Drier than the Atacama desert. The flavor is great but they are so so SO dry that it makes it really difficult to enjoy. I noticed how people on Yelp were also pointing out the dryness of the cupcakes, I shouldn't have given Cupcake Royale the benefit of the doubt. I will not be returning. IT'S BEING SEATTLE'S ORIGINAL CUPCAKE BAKERY THAT STILL SELLS DRY A$$ CUPCAKES AND NOT READING THEIR REVIEWS IN ORDER TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER FOR ME!!!!! PERIOD.

Jackie T.

Yelp
We just paid $18 for 4 cupcakes at your Ballard location and I'm so disappointed. We used to go there after school for a treat for the kids and I asked my husband to pick some up. Things have changed. Sad cupcakes with a minuscule amount of frosting. Is this what to expect for the future? I called the store and was asked to hold. I hung up after 5 minutes. Called back and went to voicemail. I even have the app on my phone and was a pretty regular customer but this isn't a good sign. Not for the price.

Timothy H.

Yelp
Eureka. Euphoria. Meaning. Poetry. Aristotle for Summer. Time warp of Fun Zone. The first time you understood the death of Santa Claus was a natural milestone. All of that and more you can find in the elegance of the mini operas of wonders are the cupcake. Great music, clean, beautiful coffee. Food made with care is the deciding factor here. Yes, they care about your cupcakes and it is so very cool. After two bites of the Lavender Bender Cupcake, My Soul said, "Hey, everyone, get in the van."

Ilana S.

Yelp
These cupcakes were pretty delicious! We had a choc with vanilla frosting and some kind of magical peanut butter cupcake. I highly recommend both! I wish there was a cookies and cream flavor like Trophy has.

Liz C.

Yelp
Last night I had a dream about Cupcake Royale. As strange as that may seem, it's even stranger that I dreamed about it although never trying a cupcake from Royale. The next day while I was volunteering at an elementary school, the teacher placed my name on a piece of cupcake card stock to put on the birthday wall (after a student requested that my name be put up there). I was sure that this was a sign that I needed to try a cupcake from Cupcake Royale. Prior to all this, I had been speaking with my partner about craving cupcakes and wanting to try a new place besides Trophy Cupcakes. I had mentioned Cupcake Royale a significant amount of times, and today I convinced him that I was meant to try one. It was a busy Friday for me and I came back home early evening. Soon, my partner walked in with a box of cupcakes. I was surprised and super excited because I had such high hopes for these cupcakes. He brought me the three flavors that I had been yapping about all day: lavender, tiramisu, and pumpkin cardamon (mini cupcake form). I literally jumped from bed and ran to get a fork to try these delicious beauties. First up, pumpkin cardamon. Let's be serious, baby cupcakes are so adorable and are the perfect bite size pieces of sweetness. This pumpkin cardamon cupcake did not disappoint the recent explosion of fall flavors everywhere. It was moist, fluffy and had the most outrageously perfect paired cream cheese frosting. That cream cheese frosting was so luscious and a match made in heaven. It paired so well with the pumpkin flavor and I felt like I was falling in a giant pile of autumn leaves (out of sheer joy). The cupcake had a sweet cinnamon, pumpkin and of course, cardamon flavor. It was definitely my favorite out of the three. Next up, the lavender. A lot of people have been raving about this beauty and I can tell you, at first glance it is a beauty. It has a beautiful white base with a perfect lavender color to the frosting. The little sprinkles add just little smiles of joy on top. I dug in and was blown away by the strong lavender taste. If you love lavender, this surely is the cupcake for you. I did enjoy this cupcake, but not as much as the pumpkin. The cake definitely resembled more of a pound cake rather than a fluffy cupcake. The cake is dense, but not dry. It remains quite moist. I found the edges of the cupcake to be slightly on the dryer side though. Overall, the vanilla pound cake like cupcake paired nicely with the lavender. Lastly, the tiramisu. This has so much going on. It has the same pound cake like base as the lavender, a silky frosting, and some cocoa powder on top. The cake part of the cupcake I found to be even more dense than the lavender. However, it still remained moist. The frosting was so velvety and melted in your mouth. It had a nice coffee/rum flavor to it, just like tiramisu. The powder on the top did have a very strong flavor but it was tolerable. Oddly enough, within our frosting we found a coffee bean. Actually, we discovered it by taking a bite of the cupcake and finding a bitter taste in our mouth, let alone a hard bean. I'm not entirely sure if that was supposed to be in the frosting since I only found one. However, this cupcake would be great for tiramisu lovers or coffee lovers in general. I am pleased that Cupcake Royale did not disappoint me, especially because it appeared in my dream. I also enjoy that it does not pile on huge amounts of sugary frosting like most places. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the denseness of the cupcakes. I prefer them to be airy, light and fluffy like the pumpkin cardamon. I would like to see more intricate cupcakes with fillings, etc. Though I'm not sure if I will get these cupcakes again (asides from pumpkin cardamon) I do know that I am curious to try the ice cream and other flavors.

Joe D.

Yelp
The cupcakes are absolutely amazing! Best I've ever had! The service was also great and the aesthetic and atmosphere was very inviting. It also smelled amazing.

Trisha F.

Yelp
Obviously this place is across the board in terms of experience and service. I'm rounding this review out to 3 stars, because today was one of the better experiences. Cupcake wise, they are topnotch. I had a whiskey maple bacon cupcake today right after working out. Some might say that those two activities probably cancel each other out. Some would be absolutely right. Pointless expenditures of energy aside, you heard me right the first time. WHISKEY MAPLE BACON. The only thing I love more than a baked treat is alcohol. Cupcake Royale obviously created this cupcake to appease my refined palate. Peppermint patty and earl grey tea also spot on. Even the staff today was superb. Kudos on offering several flavors for my gluten free friend to choose from, rather than the usual take-it-or-leave it gluten free approach.

Poornima B.

Yelp
I have been to the Ballard cupcake Royale plenty of times and I absolutely love it. One of the joints where I have found a lot of kiddos with their families as opposed to cap hill location. The servers are warm and friendly and are always eager to give suggestions. I have had the vegan and triple chocolate cupcake here in the past. The fact that it is located right next to my gym is an even better situation for me :'D. Yesterday I came over for a post lunch dessert and ventured out of the chocolate territory to give their seasonal flavor a try. The dulche let dulch is such a treat you guys. The cupcake has a caramel centre. It is not just a Lil bit of caramel in the centre . A whole lot of caramel oozes out . The frosting was also great. I don't know if anyone can ever not like the offering at Cupcake royale.

Tricia D.

Yelp
It's like a coffee shop more than a cupcake one. The space is relatively large, and it's pretty cool they dish out wifi here. When we got to CR, the line was to the door. The cupcakes, outside of red velvet and carrot cake, were chocolate or vanilla cake with flavored frostings. I tried the salted caramel (choc cake), which had good tasting frosting, but the cake almost seemed slightly underbaked. It was moist, yet crumbly when you peeled the wrapper off. The cakes could use more frosting too. The swirl on the frosting shows that the cupcakes were hand frosted (yay!), but they could have been more generous with the frosting.

Jessica G.

Yelp
For someone who will choose a salty snack over a sweet one any day of the year, Cupcake Royale surely does have a special place in my heart. The cupcakes here are super fresh. The cake part is always moist, and the buttercream frosting always tastes amazing. I tend to stick to the normal flavors (ones they have all the time), but they do have some adventurous flavors. And they seem to change seasonally, which is fun. You can get the cupcakes in either full size or mini. But if you ask me, if you're going to go bulk, get the mini, because a dozen of these full-size bad boys are ~$40, and that's just crazy town (a dozen mini cakes are ~$20). What I love about this place is that it's not strictly cupcakes. You can get espresso beverages (as well as hot chocolates and sodas), as well as ice cream. Plus, there are monogrammed knick knacks! This location sucks for parking, but it's quite spacious and can accommodate more people than it seems from the outside. And of course it's conveniently located right next to a theater and a burger joint. It's like dessert is begging you to come inside.

Yelp
Stopped in for a latte and a gluten free cupcake on a blustery afternoon. Both were excellent. Latte was hot and foamy, and the GF cupcake was so moist! They even wiped off a couple chairs so we could sit out front and enjoy Market Street going by.

Chris J.

Yelp
rating 5 stars on the cupcakes and coffee..... a couple of my favorite things. Cupcakes and coffee. Everything I have tried here has been outstanding. I love the density of their cupcakes, they eat like a rich, dense cake. My favorite cupcake is the lavender cupcake.

Brooke S.

Yelp
I was wandering around the Fremont market yesterday morning and decided to give Cupcake Royale a try. They had a festive pride cupcake I wanted to try out in support of pride weekend. The staff was very friendly and informative about all the different cupcake flavors. I ended up with the pride cupcake and some of their new summer ice cream flavors. The ice cream flavors I tried were the sundae, sherbert, and Neoplaton cupcakes. All were really fun and delicious! I will definitely be back to try out their other flavors!

Tami V.

Yelp
OMG! Yum! Orders the fig and honey cupcake. Swoon! Pumpkin Cardamon also a winner. Tiramisu and cinnamon roll yummy too. Ok too many cupcakes during my visit but could not pass it up! And dog friendly! They permitted our dog- big but well behaved to join in the selection. I will make a bee line here when back in Seattle.

D B.

Yelp
YUMMM!!! I just had a gluten-free chocolate cupcake, and it was honestly better than the regular version! So moist and fudgy, with a rich chocolate flavor. I'm sure it's not dairy-free, and of course the frosting is buttercream, shhh - totally worth the cheat. (Though I would love to see how they do with a DF version, since they also make vegan cupcakes.) I went first thing in the morning, and was immensely gratified to see a selection of GF cakes beyond the standard two - the cakes are all either vanilla or chocolate (no pumpkin cardamom, sigh), but they had some with lemon drop and salted caramel frosting. On a previous visit I even lucked into my traditional favorite white cake with chocolate frosting. WAY better than that other local cupcake shop, which only has one GF option available per day. So very much appreciated!

Maria P.

Yelp
Expensive and the flavors are nothing out of the ordinary. A basic, overpriced, Walmart quality cupcake. The presentation is cute but the flavor is generic. Save your money.

Lynette C.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed with my first visit to Cupcakes Royale in Ballard on 9/11. I placed my online order at 10am and received a confirmation email at 10:07am. My pickup time was 4:07pm and I arrived at 4:15pm, only to find out that my order was refunded because they were out of all four cupcakes of my order. When I asked how this happened, they didn't know, and suggested I call beforehand to confirm my order. What's the sense of ordering online, if you have to reconfirm by phone the day of pickup? Also, the counter person said that my order didn't show up until 3pm (and my four cupcakes were not available) - if this was the case, why did it take so long when I had received a confirmation email at 10:07? Never returning.

Yelp
*This review is for Rodeo Donut that is also at this store front* Saw a notice about Rodeo Donut doing a pop-up at Cupcake Royale, so we decided to try them out. I believe they just launched last week on 3/28/15, they had samples to try, they also had a good amount of selections to choose from. Rodeo offered a free cup of Stumptown coffee with a donut purchase. Ill take me a cup o' joe with my donut! We decided to get the bacon apple fritter, since Im a sucka for an apple fritter, it was pretty good, little bacon bits sprinkled on top, wish they would have more bacon as I could only get a few hints of it. Doesnt everyone wish there was more bacon on top of something? We also got the "caviar n' cream" donut, it was like a Boston cream donut with malt ball pearls on top(for the "caviar"). Both donuts were pretty good, freshly made, sweet, and filling. The staff was super nice, and glad to see people coming in to try them out. They said they will be at this Cupcake Royale location for a few months or so to see how it goes. I dont get donuts very often but its good to know they aren't far from me and may see them around town.

Yelp
Another long overdue Yelp review - bought many cupcakes, baby cakes, pops, ice cream, coffee, stickers, and a Deathcake Royale hoodie. I've been to other locations, but seem to frequent the Ballard site the most. It's been interesting how the site has been rearranged and refreshed. Plus I like how Jody Hall runs all of her businesses. I had a great conversation with her shortly after the Queen Anne site opened. Today I picked up a special order for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Setting up a profile and placing an online order 48 hours prior was easy. Yeah, it was a splurge, but something different versus some cheesy sheet cake with a plastic 50 thingy stuck in it. Plus I used a Chinook coupon - bought four cupcakes and got a free pint of ice cream free. Paid way too much for the parking meter, so me and family sat at the communal table and talked versus the usual inhaling of the goodies and off to somewhere else. Pretty nice place to hang out. And yes, the cupcakes are fresh, seasonal, and delicious!
