MY FIRST AND LAST VISIT — IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS, I WOULD.
What should have been a pleasant evening turned into a frustrating experience marked by disorganized service, painfully small portions, and underwhelming food.
We made our reservation 2 days in advance, but were informed that only à la carte orders could be accommodated after 9:00 PM. We agreed and even preordered our meals to ensure everything would be ready upon arrival.
Unfortunately, that preparation meant nothing.
Chaotic and unprofessional service was evident: When we arrived at 9:30 PM, there was no reserved table for us. Staff hurriedly wiped down a table to seat us — our first red flag, which we initially chose to overlook.
We followed up on our PREORDERED food, but each time we asked for an update, the staff would simply nod blankly without providing any real response or explanation. This cycle repeated every 15 minutes, making us even shy to ask the staff who ignored us as the hours went by. When we asked for an explanation, we were told that some chefs had taken leave that day. While staffing issues can happen, this was Valentine’s Day — a predictably busy evening. Proper staffing and contingency planning are basic operational responsibilities, especially when accepting reservations. Instead, the service felt chaotic, defensive and unsystematic. Even accounting for holiday volume, this level of service is unacceptable — particularly for guests who reserved in advance.
I can’t forget how staff always avoided eye contact and repeatedly ignored us whenever we tried to get their attention.
A full TWO (2) hours later, food finally arrived at 11:00 PM. We thought our hearts would be warmed by the first spoonful of food, but the portions were underwhelming - The long wait might have been forgivable if the food redeemed the experience, but it did not. Are we really paying ₱500+ for a bowl of cold chicken served after 2 hours?
To expound, our dishes arrived heartbreakingly cold. The chicken skin, which should have been crisp and freshly rendered, was limp and stale, as if it had been sitting out for some time. This was especially disappointing given how long we had waited; one would at least expect freshly prepared plates after a two-hour delay.
Portions were surprisingly small, and overall execution lacked refinement and care.
And lastly, as we left, no one thanked us. No one acknowledged us. The staff remained hunched over the counter, indifferent. Whether they were relieved to see us go or too embarrassed to engage, the lack of basic courtesy was very telling.
A reservation should provide assurance, not uncertainty. Unfortunately, this visit reflected poor coordination, inadequate preparation, and a disregard for customer experience.
Therefore it will be our first — and last — time dining here. DO BETTER!
