CUR8 - Review - Cebu City - Cebu - The Infatuation

"Technically—technically—you could spend the better part of a day with your friends at CUR8, a trendy Asian fusion joint where the mood seems to shape-shift, thanks to curved interiors and looming indoor trees. The food is a fresh take on classic Asian favorites: for brunch, order braised pork and egg rice bowls. When sunset rolls around, pair the salt and pepper shrimp with a drink—which is half off on certain days—or something from the ever-changing mocktail selection. A dinner should start with dragon fruit ceviche and soba salmon salad before you move on to one of the staple curries. They’re all pretty great, but we’re partial to Cambodian chicken curry with mango salsa and holy basil. From 9:30pm until midnight, all bets are off. Take leisurely sips of an amaretto sour as the lights dim and the music kicks in." - Chandra Joshua

We're from out of town and this place was recommended by friends. We ordered the kinilaw as they highly recommended it. It did not disappoint. The fried chicken skin dipped in local vinegar was also a favorite. We also had the salt and pepper squid which was quite good. We paid around 3,500 for 4 people.

Came for lunch, basically empty, 2 customers. CUR8 Michelin Selected Restaurant located in BTC Banilad Town Center in Cebu. Unique restaurant with a very limited menu. There was also out of stocks, Management and owner shame on you tsk tsk tsk. Seated and greeted immediately, server was very good. 1st order Sesame Caesar Salad - Nice flavor, great presentation but small portion. 2nd order Chicken Karaage Flavor bomb, juicy chicken, great batter, a real winner. 3rd order Chicken Satay a real dud in flavor, well cooked and great presentation. But no satay flavor, only peanut bits. P1400 total with VAT included for 3 appetizers, coke, water and garlic rice. Was happy with our meal, but with such a limited menu and out of stocks (curry ribs) don't see us coming back.

The place itself is good — nice ambiance and comfortable to stay in. The food is okay, nothing exceptional but decent enough. However, the staff were not accommodating. Customer service needs a lot of improvement, as friendliness and attentiveness are important in making guests feel welcome.

Inspired food and great service! We tried a bunch of dishes. Anything in the menu with the “chefs recommendation” was top notch. The “favorites” were not my favorite but they probably are more a Filipino style dish so have a strong following. Definitely worth a visit or several.

Foods were a lot much better than we expected! The servings were very tasty and we were all full! Love their chicken pesto so much. The price is very reasonable and you get very tasty food in exchange. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. Atmosphere is suitable for semi fine dining setting. Definitely need a reservation for the place. We enjoyed it very much.

The place was spacious, modern, and aesthetic. Definitely, it is a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout the visit. The restaurant serve Modern Asian cuisine and we tried their Chicken and Pomelo Salad, Twice Cooked Pork Belly, Salted Egg Shrimp Aglio Olio and Chicken Karaage. When the food arrived on our table, we know we are in for a treat. Everything was delicious, but the Karaage and Aglio Olio really stood out. The Karaage was tender and paired perfectly with its sauce, while the Aglio Olio was rich in flavor and had that irresistible garlicky aroma. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of their menu. Definitely worth a visit.

As a chef working abroad, I came in with high expectations, especially given the Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. Unfortunately, the food was far from worth it For the price point, the quality did not justify the cost at all. I’ve had far better renditions of similar dishes at a fraction of the price

This is a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, so I expected a flavorful and satisfying dining experience. Unfortunately, the food was below average. The beef rendang did not taste like authentic beef rendang at all, and the curry was overwhelmingly turmeric-heavy with little depth of flavor. Considering the price, the experience felt disappointing and not worth what I paid. The only reason I am giving one star is because the staff were polite and attentive. Additionally, even basic service water was not provided, which further added to the overall letdown. Based on this experience, it honestly made me question the credibility of the Michelin Bib Gourmand selection in the Philippines, as it did not reflect the quality I expected.
