San Antonio Chef Steve McHugh Is Opening an Austin Restaurant - Eater Austin

"McHugh attracted national attention when he opened the charcuterie-focused Cured in the Pearl development in San Antonio in 2012." - Erin Russell

"San Antonio's Charcuterie Showplace Inspired by his time in New Orleans , Chef Steve McHugh brought to San Antonio a vision of a modern, welcoming spot with a killer charcuterie program, and that vision became his buzzy restaurant, Cured. Opened in late 2013 and having survived an on-premise fire, the restaurant has drawn discerning carnivores in for plates like monster 2-pound pork shanks, pork cheek poutine and cabrito sliders, all served in a elegantly utilitarian yet warm space. Not to be missed is the fine in-house charcuterie program -- or the see-through curing room front and center as you walk into the dining room. The wonderfully curated beverage menu features craft beers and wonderfully inventive cocktails. Cured is a must-visit culinary experience on any jaunt to the Alamo City."

The 38 Best Texas Restaurants, Mapped - Eater

"WHAT: The crown jewel of San Antonio’s restaurant-rich Pearl District. WHY: Cured’s name refers both to chef-owner Steve McHugh’s victory as a survivor of lymphoma, and also to the restaurant’s extraordinary charcuterie program. A glassed-in locker at the restaurant’s entrance displays beauties like culatello (ham made from the loin of a pig’s hind leg) aged for one year, and the kitchen assembles smart novelties such as hot goat sausage and catfish mortadella. Mexican flavors also murmur through McHugh’s modern American menu — masa-fried oysters over sopes with black beans and avocado mousse, bison tartare with huitlacoche puree, braised lamb neck with hominy stew. Look for the po’ boy specials at lunch: They hearken impressively to McHugh’s years of cooking in New Orleans. — B.A." - Bill Addison

Incredible food, wonderful staff, and great atmosphere. We were in town for our anniversary and met the curator Steve during the farmers market. We had a great chat and got a signed copy of his book Cured. We made reservations for dinner and it did not disappoint. Hunter was our waiter and did an outstanding job. We pretty much let him curate our meal for us and we just sat back and enjoyed ourselves. I have nothing but great things to say. To top it off, Steve stopped by to wish us a happy anniversary and check in on us. 10 out of 10

Google
This is our favorite restaurant/bar in our first visit in San Antonio. We came here for happy hour and were only going to have a couple of drinks before our Valentine’s dinner elsewhere. We enjoyed the charcuterie board (smoked dock ham, Tejano pork, beef, pork rillettes and cheeses) so much that we keep ordering drinks and almost missed our dinner reservation. At the end of the day, our food and drinks at Cured were better than our actual Valentine’s dinner reservation.

Google
Very interesting place to have brunch. I would love to go again! The menu changes, and offers new meats, cheeses, sauces, and veggies. I tried everything you see in the picture and mixed some stuff together. I enjoyed everything on the charcuterie board. If you like trying new foods this is your place. Everything is in small portions but it’s plenty for two to share maybe more. The empanadas were soooo good, and that’s coming from someone who has never really liked them. The sauce that comes with it tastes amazing, and the combo of both is just right. It located in the middle of the pearl. Not much interaction from the staff, but was attended to well.

We arrived at about 4 pm on a Friday. We ordered from the appetizer and drink happy hour menu. There were decent options. We had the quail legs, hamburger, and fries. The fries were the best. My drink was too sweet, but I'm glad I tried it. Our waiter kept picking up our dishes before we finished eating. I would go again but only during happy hour.

Google
Such a good place to grab a drink and a bite! Mark, our server was so kind, and recommended nothing but delicious dishes! Brisket taco is 10/10 and the table side ranch water was so cool! (only available Saturday's) definitely stop by!

Google
We stopped in for Sunday brunch. Really nice because we could bring our pup and sit outside. Admittedly, this is a cured meat place and we got the brunch, so take the review for that. It was ok. Good, not great. We got the steak and eggs and the steak was over seared and under seasoned. The grits were good. We also got the butcher Benedict and the meat was like under seasoned ground beef, not that good. The beer menu is limited, no IPAs and the cocktails are $20. I did enjoy the only $16 cocktail which was the Bloody Mary drink made with mezcal which was pretty damn good. I’d go again to try the cured meats but prob not for brunch.

Yelp
I had heard that @curedatpearl has a good happy hour but had never been. We decided to check it out last night for dinner. We arrived just in the nick of time and Rebecca took our happy hour orders. Hubby had the Moscow Mule and I had Slow Poke, which has orange and pineapple. We tried Boudin Empanadas, Double Blue Ribbon Burger with fries, Fried Quail Legs, and Chili Crisp Romaine from the happy hour menu. The flavors popped when I ate the quail legs and smoked onion jam on the burger was the win. The burger was made of smoked bacon and wagyu! For the entrees, Dad and I shared the Lobster Gnocchi. I loved the sauce! It was made with white wine, truffle nage, and pecorino romano. Hubby had the Trout Pecan, which was served with fregola, brown butter, and crawfish. The food and service were excellent. Highly recommend the happy hour. You're full before you even get to the entrees!

Yelp
Nestled in the Pearl, Cured continues to impress with its innovative take on cured meats and Southern-inspired dishes. The ambiance strikes a nice balance between trendy and comfortable, though it can get a bit loud, especially during peak hours. Despite the lively din, it's a fantastic spot for a night out or a casual gathering. The standout feature, without a doubt, is their excellent happy hour, offered seven days a week. This is a true gem, with half-price delicious cocktails that make it easy to sample their creative libations without breaking the bank. From classic concoctions to unique house specials, each drink is expertly crafted and a joy to savor. While the charcuterie boards are, of course, a must-try, don't overlook their other small plates. The fried quail legs are an absolute revelation and not to be missed. Crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor, they reach new heights when dipped in the accompanying smoked tomato ranch - a creamy, tangy, and subtly smoky sauce that perfectly complements the rich quail. Beyond the food and drink, the bar service is consistently decent. Bartenders are knowledgeable, and genuinely seem to enjoy their craft, adding to the overall positive experience. Cured remains a San Antonio favorite for a reason. Whether you're a charcuterie enthusiast, a cocktail connoisseur, or simply looking for a vibrant dining experience with fantastic food, Cured delivers on all fronts. Just be prepared for a lively atmosphere, and definitely take advantage of that happy hour!

Yelp
Highly recommended for a night out. Service was excellent. Attentive and friendly but not overbearing. I'm a huge fan of chicken livers. Theirs were fantastic. Anyone who likes chicken livers should try them. Excellent. Wife had filet and fries. She was very happy. The boudin empanadas were a miss for me. The boudin filling was good but it didn't need the bread. Bread pudding to top it all off was very good. Glad we went.

Yelp
Stumbled upon here for their happy hour while walking around the pearl. What a great find! They have a spectacular outdoor area and their own personal quad area. They have a small happy hour food menu with quail legs for just $0.50 each! Wasn't super oily and savory and delicious. Their burgers were only $6. Wine was half off. The server made great recommendations. They had a white Tempranillo which was crisp, cool and refreshing. Super cheap for just 3 ppl. Definitely consider coming back for regular dining in the future.

Yelp
A great experience with a but of a "speakeasy" vibe due to the nature of a post office turned restaurant in the Pearl District. Highly recommend booking reservations ahead of time, and treating oneself to a date night. You can't go wrong with any of their charcuterie recommendations, as well as crudo or tartare options. The fried oysters were also a delectable choice, offering a wide variety of tastes and textures. Pro Tip: Arrive early for your reservation to take advantage of the HH from 3-6 PM (drinks, food, and even butcher items).

Yelp
Cured is more than just dinner; it's an experience that's rich, indulgent, and thoughtfully delivered. If you appreciate fine meats and attention to detail, this is your place. We finally got to try their renowned meat dishes, and they did not disappoint. The charcuterie board special cuts of meat that were expertly cured and paired with bold, flavors. For the main course, I ordered the steak, which initially took a bit longer than expected. The head chef personally came to our table to apologize because it hadn't met his high standards the first time. That level of care and accountability spoke volumes about their commitment to their guest's dining experience The wait was more than worth it--the steak was tender, and perfectly cooked when it arrived. It paired beautifully with the wine our server recommended, who, by the way, was incredible throughout the night.

Yelp
The food was 10/10. Everything on the charcuterie was delicious including the sauces. The steak was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. The medium was cooked to perfection. We also had the tarte which was so good and mushroomy. You definitely have to like mushroom to get that. They made me a delicious Hugo spritz even though it wasn't on the menu so I appreciated that. The staff was really nice and helpful. It was clean and beautiful inside. The bar was very nice too.

Yelp
THE BEST SALAD IVE EVER HAD!! I dream of this salad. I love for the day I can be blessed by the deliciousness of this salad again. The vibes of cured are impeccable, service is fantastic!!

Yelp
Best place we've been to in San Antonio! The service was first class and the vibe here is outstanding. Couple that with amazing food including yup - .50 cent quail wings for a 3p to 6p daily happy hour?!?!? Sign me up all day!!!

Frank S.

Yelp
Beautiful place. Their happy hour deal is ridiculous. 50 cent quail legs is crazy!!!!

Yelp
Classic exterior and inviting entrance. As the name implies, and you can see upon entry, they cure their own meats. And they are incredible. I came in at the beginning of happy hour, so it was pretty quiet. Because it was not too busy, I had a chance to chat with the GM and bartender, who were both really nice. I saw the GM also showing a couple around and telling them some of the history of the building. My drinks were well-balanced. I had a three meat charcuterie board, fried quail eggs from the happy hour menu and poutine. I would absolutely return for dinner or happy hour.

Yelp
If you haven't been to Cured for happy hour, what are you waiting for?! My party of three girls and a baby stopped by for what was all of our first time and we all plan to come back! We got a table outside with zero wait and when the weather is nice this gives you a view that can't be beat. Already pleased with the area, the food knocked it out of the park! The fried quail legs were the favorite of the table, and at fifty cents a pop you can eat to your heart's content. The fries were perfectly crisp, and the romaine salad was a delightful pop of freshness and flavor. Paired with our drinks and this made for the best happy hour treat. Not to mention drinks and food for all three of us only came out to $34. That is a price that'll beat any deals nearby and it doesn't entail taking a hit to quality. Lastly, our server was super nice and accommodating of our stroller situation which is always helps put things at ease when dining out with an infant. Can't wait to go back and try some more!

Yelp
A classy place for those who love cured meats and charcuterie, like myself! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with a view of hanging meats. The service is fantastic and the concept is creative. For example, during the month of December, they had an "Advent" calendar of a featured cured meat each day. How fun! Everything we ordered was great.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite places to visit before we had kids. We decided to take our babies there recently and the place was quiet for a Saturday morning. Everyone was accommodating and we enjoyed our brunch. My husband had the burger and he was satisfied with it. I had the chicken and donuts and while I loved the chicken and syrup, the donuts were a little bit too dry for me. Overall, it was a good experience, and we plan to try out their dinner menu sometime soon.

Yelp
It was a wonderful dining experience. The staff was warm and explained everything well. The food was good and the portion was reasonable. The biscuits were delicious, fresh out of the oven, buttery and soft in the center. Cured even published a cookbook for purchase. However, there were a few things to improve to earn 5 stars. The food came out very slowly. We waited a long time, over 45 mins. The grits were at room temperature and not enough butter. Most of the dishes would be better if they were more seasoned and the fish with more sauce poured on top. But overall, not bad. I recommend trying the Happy Hour to get a taste before joining the dinner crowd. Yes, they offer Happy Hours even on Sundays.
google avatar

Yelp
It pains me to write this review. My past experience here was wonderful. 5 star stellar from top to bottom. Unfortunately that was not the case last night. First issue was the AC now keeping up. It was uncomfortably warm making it difficult to ignore. That alone would not warrant a 2 stars review. The 2 stars are more food related. We started with a great charcuterie platter that overall was very pleasant. I was looking forward to the chicken liver mousse as I recalled its luscious, velvety texture...what we had last night is best described as chicken liver room temperature yogurt. It was not at all what I recalled. My aged 8oz fillet was so over seasoned it would have made a Cajun proud. It would have been so much better if left alone. Beef of that quality should speak for itself but the seasoning was so distracted it made the steak less enjoyable. Another's braised chicken entree was terribly dry. How does that even happen? The trout was described as "good" by another guest but she was not pleased with the coating. It was bland and added nothing to the dish. The lobster gnocchi by the other guests was described as very good. The waiter did a fine job given the warm working conditions and we only voiced concern with the dry chicken. His reply was he would tell the chef do it does not happen again. I feel this could have been handled better but I was not going to make a scene with my guests. I truly hope this was a one off experience as I love this place and recommend it often. I'm uncomfortable going that now after last nights experience. I hope they do better for me next time I'm in town. I will be back because at one time, it was that good. Here's to hoping this in not the new norm!
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
We stopped by here after doing some window shopping around this beautiful area, and the food did not disappoint. They have amazing happy hour deals and the staff were very hospitable and attentive. I had the chicken sausage sliders with strawberry and pineapple jam, which complimented each other very well. I was highly impressed by the pairings of meats and sauces/preserves. Oh, and the fries were quite literally the best fries I've had as a plus!
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
The vibe of cured gave me an upscale New York fine dining vibe. Granted I went on a Sunday afternoon and was too casual for the place but I enjoyed my time there. I sat at the bar and was treated to the best service from my bartender. I ordered an old-fashioned and a slice of lemon cello cake with a berry wine reduction. The cake was exquisite, not too sweet, but big on flavor. my old-fashioned was just the right amount of bourbon and was made to perfection. I definitely recommend this spot for a friend group or a nice date night.

Yelp
One of the best options at the Pearl! The building Cured is in is beautiful and inviting. The ambiance and service are both outstanding, as one would expect. The gem is the happy hour, which is a great way to get a taste of what Cured has to offer and a chance to chat with the bartenders who are a wealth of knowledge. The masa flash fried oysters are always an excellent choice. Of course, you need to try the charcuterie choice players (get the six!). The boudin empanadas, I was skeptical of, but that were excellent.
google avatar

Paul V.

Yelp
I was lucky to find Cured - on my last day in town an rideshare driver recommended their happy hour it after I mentioned I was considering checking out the Pearl area. I am so happy that I got that recommendation, it was a great spot for happy hour. The building is really cool, complete with a case of meats greeting you right inside the door. The boudin empanada might have been one of the best items I ate on my trip. The pastry was perfectly light and delicious and the the filling was incredibly flavorful. I also ordered a few fried quail legs to try as they were a unique and intriguing item. They were plated beautifully and the drizzled honey and rosemary really completed the flavor and the crunch. While I was planning on just a quick happy hour so I could try other places, I ordered a second empanada after having the first because of how good it was!
google avatar

Pete D.

Yelp
I have eaten at Cured for dinner and it is always good. Ate at Cured today for Brunch and it was Excellent! Hunter was our server and his service was perfect. Ordered the Chicken & Doughnuts. OMG, the chicken was cooked perfectly, the potato cake doughnut brought me back to my youth, and the jalapeno syrup was the best syrup I have ever had!

Angela G.

Yelp
The happy hour burger was delicious! Super flavorful!! Josh our server was super helpful, and quick with service! Our food came out in no time, and the drinks were super tasty! The floor manager also checked in with us and told us neat facts about the meat case and the restaurant itself! All in all a beautiful restaurant with awesome service, food, and drinks!! Will be back!!

Yelp
If you couldn't tell by the name of the restaurant, Cured is a restauraunt in the Pearl that specializes in cured meats and I was satisfied with my most recent visit. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a bunch of hanging cured meats on a display in a nice historical looking building. The service was also very solid. My table wasn't looking to eat anything heavy so we option for a couple sides such as the Cathead Biscuits ($8) and Fried Chicken Livers ($19). Then we also got the Charcuterie Choice of Nine ($45). The biscuits were delicious and moist and I would certainly give them a 10/10. The fried chicken livers....well chicken livers in general are not my cup of tea with the texture and intense flavor. My table loved them, but I am one of those people that don't have the palette for them unfortunately. The Charcuterie is expensive as expected and I wish they had more cold cut meat options, but their options were unique and tasty. Also very aesthetically pleasing. I didn't get to explore too much of the menu at Cured, but I would like to go back again because of the comfortable environment and experience overall.

Yelp
We popped in for happy hour (they were open on July 4th) and loved the charm of the building and the service. We got seated right away and our waiter was so friendly and attentive. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu and got the Boudin Empanadas (1 per serving during Happy Hour) and several orders of the Fried Quail Legs for 50 cents each during Happy Hour. The food came out very quickly and everything was delicious. The fried quail legs were served with a spiced honey sauce that was delicious. The dipping sauce for the empanada was smooth with a great flavor. The decor was beautiful. Our waiter told us that the restaurant had been built inside an older building, and a lot of the walls were still the original architecture. There's also a case in the front of the restaurant when you first walk in. Inside you will see the cuts of meat that are being aged. Overall, we had a great time here. We were told that their menu changes pretty frequently. Will definitely come back the next time we are in San Antonio to try out some other dishes.

Mandy F.

Yelp
The restaurant is pretty; modern and minimalist with some rustic touches. Sat at the bar and was helped within a minute or two during a moderately busy happy hour on a Monday. I ordered a gin and tonic. Generous glass size but the tonic was served on the side which I personally didn't like and found a little weird. I shouldn't have to mix a two ingredient drink myself. The empanada was really good, as was the sauce served with it. I probably wouldn't order the single burger again; the meat was thin, and they didn't ask how I'd like it cooked. The fries were excellent. Overall 4/5 because the cocktail experience was weird. Prices were good though.
google avatar

Adrianna D.

Yelp
Ambiance of this place is very Interesting. You look through the window and see a huge case of hanging meat. However, when you walk in, totally different. Classy even. Drinks were strong. Portions were small, but everything we had was delicious. Our waiter was kind and kept it real with us on what to and what not to order based on our preferences. Group of 7, quick service.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh my, how do I begin? I don't usually do such a scathing review, as I am tempted to do about cured. First, let me start by saying it took over an hour to get a charcuterie board, a burger and a salad. The Caesar salad was actually a kale saladand the grits were totally cold at zero flavor. The charcuterie board was very unusual. Everything was made in house. I can't really say it was bad, but it was very disappointing as was everything else about the restaurant. Needless to say, we will never be back.
google avatar

Sydney W.

Yelp
Bartender took the best care of us as we ordered an appetizer. Very clean and modern restaurant as well.

Yelp
I'm from Houston and this is the best happy hour I've had anywhere. The quail legs and the empanadas are both 10/10

Yelp
So so so good Everything we ordered was good Breakfast for 3 140 coconuts Worth the wait. Legit
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
I can't believe I hadn't tried cured earlier, I'm so bummed because the whole experience was FANTASTIC. From the beginning, the doors were opened for us as we walked in. They were offering all day happy hour which is probably ONE of the best happy hours in town- HANDS DOWN. I ordered the boudin Empanada which was very tasty and came with a great chipotle type sauce with homemade pickles. Additionally, I ordered 4 qual legs which were nice and crunchy and were perfectly complemented by the rosemary honey drizzled on top. Their Bahama mama cocktail tasted like I should be sipping somewhere beside the beach. So good, so tropical. Sweet but not too sweet. PERFECT. I also ordered the rosemary citrus haze which was also very good but the Bahama mama was my favorite. The service was amazing. We had a mini history lesson by one of the employees who pointed out what was historic and was was restored or was new. We had the bartender stop by and ask feedback on drinks and just felt very taken care of. Not overbearing but genuinely interested in making sure we enjoyed ourselves. I'll definitely be back. Happy hour at Cured is a BIG winner and I can't wait to return.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice ambiance and friendly waiter. Happy hour seemed to be a good value. I don't even remember the food though, because Y'ALL THIS HUMMINGBIRD CAKE was to die for. If you're a fan of browned butter you can't miss it.

Yelp
Ok where to start! I'm still amazed at how good this restaurant was. I don't know what took me so long to try it !! First off, Steven McHugh , what a beautiful establishment you have. From the moment I entered I knew everything that followed would be amazing. The ambiance and service were great, and OMG the food and drinks definitely lived up to my expectations. The quail legs were freaking delicious, the batter was perfectly seasoned. The Burger although it looks "plain" .. no no FAR FROM !! The buns, the flavor of the meat, the cheese, & sauce.. combined perfectly!! Definitely one of the best burgers I've ever had. We made it in perfect timing for happy hour menu. We ordered 4 drinks, 2 burgers/fries, empanada, quail legs, and poutine. All that for a ridiculously low price !! HAPPY HOUR HIGHLY RECOMMEND this spot ! Perfect date night
google avatar

Celeste C.

Yelp
First of all just from a personal perspective . It's a nice restaurant. As soon you enter you'll receive the best customer service. I loved our waiter. We went with some friends that have gone a bunch of times already so they helped us order. The drinks are great. The food was good just for me personally I've had better steak in NYC or even California. It is good though but not that best I've ever had but definitely the best in San Antonio. For me the appetizers and drinks I enjoyed more than the entrees. Overall it's a nice experience and I highly recommend for a nice date night.
google avatar

Cleapatra C.

Yelp
As far as the service, it was phenomenal. The food was very subpar and after waiting about 25/30 minutes it came out cold. We had a party of 8 during brunch and I'm assuming they wanted to bring it all out at once...wasn't a good idea. Ambiance was interesting and probably more of a vibe at night. As of right now, I do not plan on coming back to this establishment.

Nicole M.

Yelp
My husband and I love this restaurant and have for years! One of our favorites in San Antonio! The food is excellent, as is the service and the atmosphere. Creative and tasty cocktails, and they are wonderful about accommodating gluten free guests.
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
Every time we come to San Antonio we find ourselves at Cured! The staff is beyond nice and its a super fun bar to go to for happy hour! The food looks delicious and seem fairly prices for what you are getting. Restaurant is clean and super neat inside.

Yelp
My son in law and I tried this place, for brunch, on Saturday after going to the Pearl Market. It was the first time but won't be the last! We shared a 3 choice charcuterie board with 120 day cured pork belly, lamb citrus terrine and dapper goat chèvre with goats milk. It was the perfect start to our experience with delicious cracker, pickled vegetables and a TO DIE for kimchi mustard. I am not a typical fan of kimchi but we both bought a jar to go! We then moved on to the butchers Benedict and the smoked salmon tartine. These were fresh, wonderful flavor profiles and absolutely delicious! Our server was amazing, the decor was beautiful and the first visit won't be the last! My only regret is I did not get pictures!

Yelp
Cured is inside in a very cute historic building located in the popular Pearl district and just off the Riverwalk. Upon walking in, you will see a case displaying the cured meat. This was our first time here so of course we had to try the charcuterie board. We got the Reserve Charcuterie Board and added a cheese. This board is substantial! If you shared this between two people, it could serve as a light lunch. We really enjoyed the jam and even took home a bottle of the peach jam. I got the Beer Can Mussels. The portion is very large and I could not finish the entire serving. The mussels were briny and the chunks of ham added a touch of salt. The fries that came with this dish were good - the aioli is very creamy. My fiancé got the Wurst Case Scenario and he really enjoyed it. He said the grits were awesome. The menu had a lot to offer and I am looking forward to the next time we can dine in to try some more.
google avatar

Loanne N.

Yelp
A very cute restaurant in San Antonio! We came here for happy hour which ends at 6pm to grab drinks and an early dinner. The happy hour is extremely worth it - cocktails were $5 and beers were $2.50. For food, would recommend the pork belly and the salad. We also ordered the mussels, empanadas, and poutine, which all were good and flavorful. Our server Jeffrey was amazing and kind and recommend many amazing items. Would come back here for happy hour again if I'm back in the San Antonio area!

Yelp
My red fish pecan was very dark on the bottom, not burned but obviously quite overcooked. I'm normally not picky or critical and would try to eat most of it but I honestly couldn't. Left 60-70% on my plate. Even my husband thought it was very dry and made that comment to waiter and he NEVER comments as he doesn't want to fuss. I was able to tap on the fish getting a knocking sound to demonstrate how hard it was. The pasta/raisin side dish was strange - edible but not enjoyable at all. His short rib dinner was fine. He commented sides were quite salty but overall meal was"ok". They have the "hype" of the cool, hip vibe and cool location but food was not worth $35 and $42. Even our wine ($17/glass) was disappointing. Can't recommend this place.

Yelp
It was definitely a "different experience" but I feel way over priced for what it was. And the first round of drinks were delicious but never consistent after that.

Yelp
Easily one of the best restaurants in San Antonio. While there are more and more exciting, adventurous, modern restaurants starting to form, for now, Cured sits on top as king of SA. Right as you walk into the building, the beautiful curing case of all the meats is a sight to behold and make your mouth water. Service was polite, attentive, and good with keeping us informed on whats coming out, without feeling like a harassment. Their happy hour food is pretty damn good. I like that you can order single fried quail legs for 50 cents a piece. The poutine empanada was a surprise hit, as the outside breading was delicately flakey yet fried to a crisp, with a fistful of delicious filling. The double burger is a no frills cheeseburger with no veggies or sauces, but quite the tasty hamburger meat. I liked how soft and untoasted the bun was in this case. Their salads are seasonal, so while we were there, peach season was out, but they had a lovely assortment of pickled veggies mixed in with fresh greens. The charcuterie board is the crown Jewel of this place, as it should be with the labor of love they put into their curing process. While they offer a beginning tier of meats, their premium add ons are what you should truly focus on. Especially items like the smoked duck ham, 90 day lamb salami, and the 24 month jamon, these premium items should be consumed slowly, and rotate between everything that's on the board. The house made pickles and fruit spreads are lovely additions to the meat and cheese we got. Granted I didn't order an entrée, but with how rich some of this food is, I would be conservative in how much you order. I know theres gonna someone who thinks poorly of this place because they are gonna order the weakest items on the menu or expect the greatest dining experience. This is the antithesis of Chaco's, where things are big and cheap.

Yelp
My friend and I went for the first time today. It was lovely all around. Nice ambiance, great friendly service, and very delicious food, cocktails, & wine! My friend and I ordered all 11 items on the charcuterie menu lol plus the White Truffle Gnocchi, the Wagyu dip (Medina County Parisa) with toasted crackers, & the Cotechino (sausage patties). Plus hummingbird cake for dessert. Very fun sampling dinner!

Yelp
I love the modern decor of the Cured. The building has looked historical and located in a popular area in San Antonio. Our server was attentive and knew the menu well. We ordered a variety of food and everything was amazing. Reserve Charcuterie Plate: my favorite on the plate was the picked cauliflower and the pork liver mousse. Boudin Empanada: crispy and flavorful Warm Mushroom Salad: fresh Heritage Hog Poutine: the picked cauliflower is a nice addition to the gravy and balance out the flavor We order for our main dishes the redfish, chicken, mussel and ribeye. My favorites are the mussel which has a nice sauce and the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. Definitely one of the place to get a meal and walk around the area afterwards.

Yelp
We went to Cured after a performance downtown (Funny Girl is a great show). We arrived in time for happy hour, and had a board, French fries, and some fried Quail legs. The board was great as always, but don't miss the quail legs...they rock. At $.50 a piece, they are dirt cheap, and a perfect bite. And who doesn't like fresh French fries? Half price wine by the glass was nice too! Our waiter was attentive, and the atmosphere with the blues playing and lots to see on the green made it a lovely experience. Finished with a delightful bread pudding and cream ice cream and coffee. I haven't been in a while, but I'll add them into my Pearl experience more often.

Yelp
Another great visit at Cured!! Took my parents here and we were super early for our reservation because our concert ended early! We also came again on a Sunday. The hosts and waiters are always very nice. We also were there during happy hours and it's a MUST!! Rlly cheap price on drinks and very cheap apps and a few mains. So we tried out the quail legs that were only 50 cents a pop and wow they were sooo good. Then of course we had to get some charcuterie and the fried chicken. The biscuits are honestly my fave part - not dry and flavorful. The chicken is just amazing. Grazie cured!
