Where to Eat the Best Jambalaya in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"A go-to for balcony seating on Royal Street, Curio offers fried seafood, po’ boys, burgers, and pasta. Visitors love the Taste of New Orleans, a three or four-dish specialty that includes crawfish etouffée, gumbo made with black-eyed peas, red beans and rice, and Creole jambalaya. Pick three for $20 or all four for $25. Great drinks and bread pudding too." - Beth D’Addono

My partner and I ducked in here on a Saturday evening to get respite from the crowded streets. We planned to just get one drink each and enjoy the AC and seating before moving on, but it was such a vibe we stayed for three drinks each, and an appetizer. The blackberry margarita was pure perfection, and the fried alligator bites with mayhaw pepper jelly and cilantro lime mayo were PHENOMENAL. The bartender who served us was excellent at making drinks, but not friendly or engaging, which is fine. Being quick and skilled is important but I’m sure she’d be rolling in tips if she made a bit of small talk, haha. We will absolutely be back next time we’re in town, the aesthetics and flavors were all super satisfying. Update: we returned for our anniversary dinner on Sept 6th and it was phenomenal. We ate on the balcony which was SUCH a treat and felt so culturally significant to the city. Our waiter was great and the bartender was friendly and skilled. We got the fried alligator bites again (can’t get enough of that mayhaw pepper jelly!) and my partner got the roasted turkey Cuban and subbed fries for hush puppies because he had been craving them. We loved the experience yet again!

We had a splendid drink at Curio. We popped in on a Tuesday to sit up on the patio and have a drink. My wife really enjoyed her cocktail, just wished it was served in a real glass but might be something with being on the upstairs deck. My beer was good. The service was perfect. Wish I could remember her name but she was around enough if we needed anything but not rushed at all. Definitely will be back next time in Nola.

Nothing like a stroll through the French Quarter at the end of a long music-history tour that started in Nashville, TN. My better half an I were looking for some good jambalaya and we found it here at Curio. The shrimp, the Andouille, the mojo. And even though I'm far from 24 (when I first visited New Orleans some 30-plus years ago), I ordered a hurricane. Service was beyond friendly, bathrooms clean. Couldn't have been a better night cap.

Google
Stumbled into this awesome spot by mistake. My wife got hangry quickly and the food, service, and cocktails really hit the spot. I had breakfast and my wife had a grilled shrimp salad, both top notch. Zander made our experience with great service and knowledge of the quarter. His partner behind the bar also ensured we had a good experience. Highly rate Curio and will be back.

Google
Popped in for a nightcap and was reminded why Curio is one of the few bars I trust in the Quarter. If you know, you know— too many spots serve watered-down, sugary messes. Not here. Drinks are solid, and the food? Surprisingly good. In a neighborhood where you have to tread carefully with dining and drink choices, Curio stands out. It’s located on Royal Street, one of my absolute favorites in the Quarter, and the service has never let me down. Highly recommend.

Google
Loved the energy of this place. Had no idea I spent hours here. Food and drinks were absolutely delicious. So glad I stumbled across this place. Ask for the off menu cocktail Voodoo Queen. It was so refreshing!! I ordered another.

Google
The food was not what I expected from eating other places here. The fish platter was supposed to feed 2 or more, not so much. The duck gumbo was salty to me. The mimosa was great.

Google
Cozy restaurant with very good food! Price quality is very good. I took the crispy chicken BLT and for 21$ you definitely get enough, where you get too little in other places. Our waiter was also super pleasant. Nice friendly man! Definitely try the bloody marry if you’re in to it. The tastiest we have had so far in the USA (and believe me there are many we have tried) if you like desserts I also recommend the smore's brownie!

Yelp
I had a great experience at Curio while in NOLA for a short trip. We had an excellent server who was very endearing and gave us good tips. We dined inside on the upstairs level. The restaurant has classic new Orleans vibes with all of the typical Cajun dishes. I went with the shrimp po boy with fries and added a side of hush puppies. The table near us was so impressed that they ordered the same after it came out. I committed the ultimate yelper sin and devoured the food before I took a photo. Nothing was going to get between me and that sandwich, not even a photo. Try the hush puppies as an extra side. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Food: It was ok- brunch nothing memorable to come back for. The French toast was nice, not the best but acceptable. The crabcakes on the eggs pontchartrain were unbelievably salty, holladaise was split... breakfast potatoes were steak fries in actuality... it was a letdown. The host and server were pleasant, the menus handed to us were dirty/grease stained, but table and seating clean. The place is cold even with the doors wide open so I had to go fetch a sweater. Not worth venturing in the quarter for which is such a shame. If you're needing a brunch spot in the quarter that's open before 10 am that will take walk ins, it's an option... the place was empty before us and I can't see myself going out of my way for it ever again.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday around 11:00 AM and will not go back. The host informed us that there was a 45 minute wait for a table so we sat at the bar. Behind us were 8 empty tables that were never fully occupied the entire time we were there. We endured the backless barstools. We waited quite a while for our food to arrive. Quite frankly, the food was AWFUL! The eggs were adorned with paprika which gave the egg whites a strange taste. The bacon also had a peculiar texture and taste. The biscuits were crumbly with little flavor. The grits looked like mushed rice and we even had to ask the bartender to identify what it was. It definitely didn't look or taste like the southern grits we're used to. I had potatoes and they were basically seasoned steak fries an odd accompaniment to eggs and bacon. We barely ate anything on our plates. Bill was around $40. We paid it and vowed not to return to this hole in the wall, fake restaurant. The one star was earned by the bartender who was friendly and kept our water glasses filled. Keep walking by this place not unless you're drunk and taste doesn't matter!

Yelp
The service was great and I really enjoyed the Bramblejack cocktail. The omelet was ok. For me, the spinach/tomato/cheese combo was a little mushy for my taste. I have this thing about texture so it's a me problem. The shrimp were the highlight of the omelet. They were a nice size and the crisp was perfect!

Yelp
Shoutout to Raiko, such a lovely genuine server. He went above and beyond with us and our pups. Please ask for him, so nice to be helped like this!! Everything was so different and tasty. For appetizers we got the crawfish nachos, OMG sooo good. Who would've thought cheese and fish would go so well!!! My sister and I shared the pasta and the shareable app that has all 4 main dishes of NoLa. My favorite was the Gumbo, so good and different from the other places i tried it. My mom had the cheeseburger but it was so juicy so good, perfect temperature and the crispiest fries Cocktails were so good and prices for HH AMAZING!! We were sat on the balcony, we were able to enjoy the corner, the view and even tho it was hot it was soo fresh. I'll be back :)

Yelp
Was in new orleans on vacation and had a free appetizer from here so i decided to check it out. First of all lovely place with great atmosphere, definitely ask for the patio seating on the second floor for beautiful views of the french quarter. The food was delicious, our appetizer was the gator bites with a delicious sauce, entree we shared the caprese sandwich which was tasty but a little basic then we had the sampler which was a great way to taste a lot of new orleans popular dishes without actually getting all of them. I loved the food, the vibes and the staff was fantastic. Definitely check this place out during your visit for a lovely dinner before a night out on bourbon street.

Yelp
My wife chose this establishment, not a far walk from Royal Sonesta hotel. Upon my Yelp check-in got coupon for free appetizer w order of entree which was honored by the staff. We chose blue crab claws pictured below. My entree was shrimp Po Boy, and it was heartily stacked w shrimp on fresh bread. The potato salad was mayonnaise based generic tasting. One thing I noticed in my short time in New Orleans, all the restaurants take a long time for food to come out after ordering. It was like this at every restaurant we visited, I suppose it is because there is additional time taken to prepare meals authentically or just a Louisiana thing? Large portion for fair price.

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing service although the staff were shorthanded. If possible grab a balcony table because the view and ambiance is great. We were seated promptly on a Saturday afternoon and Gustavo took care of us with never an empty drink. My wife ordered the Crawfish Cavatappi Pasta (Gus recommendation) and I took in a classic Shrimp Po'boy sandwich. (Get the extra mayo and hot sauce). The pasta I cannot explain. It was so good and creamy with chunks of crawfish. The po'boy was stuffed with shrimp which was perfectly crispy and delectable. We missed out on the crab cakes so perhaps we will come back again. So far New Orleans food has been delicious.

Yelp
Came for happy hour and the bar was full.. we had about 45 minutes left and the manager said he would take our name down and get us in..however nobody would leave... ha ha..so about 15 minutes left he sat us at a table near the bar and honored the happy hour..I thought that was magnificent gesture. We ordered the Bavarian pretzels with Abita beer cheese..this was amazing! Best beer cheese I think I have ever had and the pretzels were equally delicious. We started with Moscow mules for 5 dollars and right before the cutoff got in the 3 dollar domestic beer order. Our waitress was outstanding. We decided to order the Taste of New Orleans and we picked 3; 2 red beans and rice and the etouffee that was terrific as well. I would come back here in a minute if I lived here.. such great service, awesome manager and really good food!!

Yelp
This place was fantastic for a few drinks before our show at the Fillmore! We arrived for happy after a little after 2 and stayed until 5 having cocktails and a few of the appetizers that this establishment offers. Our server Gabe or Chad (I forget sorry!) was extremely upbeat and kind. He made the experience fun and I love servers that are personable and positive. The sliders we ordered were delicious and deposit it being one slider per order, it was a whole burger on a little slider bread bun with a good layer of red pepper and provolone cheese that was the bomb. The drinks were just as awesome. I tried a few of the Hemingway Daquiris (which wasn't much of a daiquiri at all to me delight) and the blackberry margarita. The margarita tasted super fresh and I enjoyed the presentations of both drinks. I would HIGHLY recommend this spot and would love to return on my next trip to NoLa!

Yelp
2nd time here. Really good food. Nice place. Service was pretty good. THE FOOD: Started out with appetizers, Grit Tots, which are grit balls with white cheddar, and a roasted red pepper Coulis (dipping sauce). Kind of a sweet thai chili sauce...REALLY tasty! Fried Green Tomato Chips & blackened Gulf Shrimp was next with a nice remoulade.. great flavor. For my main course, I ordered a Crispy Chicken Blt. WOW! Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Tenders, Applewood Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayhaw Pepper Jelly, Cilantro-Lime Mayo, Sourdough Toast..... I rarely can't finish my meal, but the chicken was a very generous portion, great bacon..... I only ate half. The jelly and mayo added to the flavor. Kind of a honey flavor. Overall, the food and service was terrific. One note, the first floor washroom toilet was leaking and I didn't see the water on the floor until it was almost too late! (Get that cared for).

Yelp
Great option if you're looking for some traditional New Orleans cuisine! Food was flavorful and fresh. Service was ok, not especially friendly and a little slow but we weren't in a hurry.

Yelp
First night in New Orleans, tried a bit of an upscale place in the French quarter. I wish i went a bit more authentic on a Louisiana dish, but i ordered crab cakes that were actually very tasty. They were overpriced imo, but the sauce on top of it complimented the dish well. It was also paired with a salad to help cut the richness of the pan fried crab cakes.
google avatar

Yelp
We popped in here for a quick drink and bite to eat, taking a break from one of the parades. It was busy so we weren't able to sit at a table, but we got 4 spots at the bar. Really pretty space! The bartender was nice and attentive. I got the passion fruit mimosa, and my partner got the hurricane. The hurricane was so tasty, usually they're too sweet for my liking, but this one was just right! For a snack we ordered the fried alligator bites and they were delicious! Crunchy texture but super juicy. Yum! The mayo for dipping was really good as well. If we didn't have dinner reservations later in the day, we would have definitely tried more food.

Yelp
We came to Curio on Sunday night for a dinner after the game and were quickly seated upstairs. I ate a lot of amazing food in New Orleans and this was maybe the best dinner I had. I ordered the Crawfish Étouffée and it was exactly what the doctor ordered - classic. We also ordered all three of the deserts and they were fantastic. The S'Mores Double Fudge Brownie was definitely my favorite.
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
Beware if you order the gulf shrimp Caesar salad. The photo on their page is accurate....the shrimp are very small. Ambiance was good as was service. Just expected more for the price.
google avatar

Evan F.

Yelp
Popped in here for a quick dinner meal before our walking ghost tour. We were able to be accommodated immediately at hightop seating near the bar. Score! We ordered some refreshing drinks and put in our food order as well....a salad and their Taste of New Orleans sampler. The gulf shrimp Caesar salad was large and very hearty, easily shareable by two. The Taste of New Orleans sampler was pretty tasty...crawfish etouffee, creole jambalaya, duck andouille with black-eyed pea gumbo and red beans & rice. Each portion came in a small square dish, topped with rice and served with sliced toast making it fun to mix-n-match samples and dip the bread as you went along. It was an in-n-out meal, but we were very happy with our choices.

Yelp
I loved this place for lunch! The view on the deck was fabulous! Music was playing, the sun was shining, the wind was BLOWING but all was good!!! The only thing that could have been improved was my server, poor Chase seemed to be in the weeds a little bit and the restaurant was not very busy so that was disconcerting BUT while I was waiting for my table upstairs, I had a drink at the bar and that service was stellar and super quick so that was good! My poboy was yummy but the realm winner of the meal was the warm potato salad - it was so smooth and yummy - I am glad I got it. I also enjoyed all the tidbits in the menu, it's always nice to have a little history with your meal!
google avatar

Keshia O.

Yelp
The best place i visited while in the French Quarter. would've went back for breakfast and dinner everyday. There were so many things on the menu that looked good. We had bottomless mimosas; true to the name, we had 10 glasses each. French toast was Phenomenal. Staff was friendly and nice. TV was on sports, which was nice. A little hot inside, but we sat at the Bar, right by the door, so that was expected. Quick service. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Curio is such a cute little bistro! Come here if you want to get away from the hustle of bourbon street and have an intimate meal. We sat at the bar as the dining room was pretty busy with reservations. The bartenders were super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and service was pretty quick. We ordered the crawfish cavatappi pasta, the crawfish etouffee, and the chilled crab claws - all of the food was absolutely delicious and I'd choose here over any of the "super popular" places any day. Their drink menu was also very unique and had some I really enjoyed their cocktails! Of note, their portion sizes are a bit on the smaller side compared to other places, but I did not leave feeling hungry. It was the perfect size entree to still leave room for dessert!
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Based on the food, I recommend trying this place out. Even though the was on server for 7 tables, with parties up to 6-8, food came out reasonably fast. We waited a while we hen we first sat, but time between appetizer and entree allowed us to digest. I commend the waitress for doing a great job and even noticed when the wrong dish was brought out to our table and immediately corrected the issue. See my pics. Not one dish we ordered was bad.
google avatar

Kelsey C.

Yelp
We love this place any time we are in Nola and usually always stop by for appetizers and drinks. Everything is delicious but we love the brussel sprouts the most!
google avatar

Marnie R.

Yelp
Came here after going to another restaurant only to get no service whatsoever. Very happy with stumbling in on this place! We got seated up on the 2nd floor balcony! The waiter was super nice and attentive. He gave us recommendations and it was so delicious! I got the crawfish cavatapi pasta and my husband got the shrimp Po'Boy. Definitely check this place out!
google avatar

Account M.

Yelp
Free app with check in ;-) Pam was our waitress. Very nice lady and knowledable! Great waitress. Attentive. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for an app. Shrimp & grits & the crawfish pasta as our entrees. Shrimp and grits were good but not like what I'm used to. (I'm from Texas and our southern food is more creamy and thick... I've noticed this everywhere in New Orleans though. Much more of a soupy texture everywhere). The pasta was the same. Subtle flavor and kind of a thin sauce vs creamy... Artichoke dip was flavorful and thick :)
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Server was great but a bit spread thin with tables on all levels. The balcony seating was excellent. Trio of tasting gumbo, red beans, and etouffe was delicious but a bit lukewarm on arrival. Salmon salad and fried green tomatoes were delicious! Overall would go again.
google avatar

Jen C.

Yelp
Great spot in the French Quarter. The first floor has a large bar and a few tables. There's a second dining room upstairs. The menu is heavy on seafood. I went with the crab cakes which were very flavorful and topped with a nice remolaude. They came with crisp onion rings and a small salad. Very filling. Service was fast. Price point was very responsible, $65 for dinner for 3.
google avatar

Elisabeth M.

Yelp
Excellent place for people watching from the top balcony. Of course the food is good too. Stopped off for a snack of fried green tomatoes and grilled shrimp. It did not disappoint!

Yelp
When I'm in New Orleans, a Sidecar and a French 75 are necessary. I already had a Sidecar, so French 75 was still on the list. Curio has been on my radar. I've heard so many wonderful things about their food & craft cocktails. I passed by it on my way back from running an errand. I had a busy day but decided to pop in for a quick libation. I'm so glad I did! Kristen, the bartender, greeted me with the warmest welcome! In addition to a great personality, she has beautiful eyes and a lovely smile. The creative cocktails sounded intriguing, but my heart was set on a French 75. She suggested I try it with McQueen and the Violet Fog Gin. It was lovely. The floral botanicals, which include hibiscus, complimented the champagne nicely. I sipped my cocktail while having a lively conversation with Kristen and the gentleman next to me, whom I ran into at another event later that day. Thanks to Kristen, Curio will be my first stop next time I return to the Quarter. I'm excited to try the Crab Cakes and one of their signature cocktails. *$18 Bottomless Mimosas & Bloody Mary's available every day until 4 p.m.

Emersyn E.

Yelp
Curio was absolutely delicious! We had the crab cakes, shrimp and grits & jambalaya. We also did bottomless mimosas which was such a good deal. Our favorite part was our waiter, Nonnatus. He may have been our favorite part of the whole trip! He was so personable and had so much knowledge about the menu and area. We stayed for hours chatting with him. He recommended adding fried redfish to the jambalaya which was so good. Would highly recommend Curio!
google avatar

Katie E.

Yelp
This place was incredible!! It's hard to find bad food in New Orleans.. and this place is a great example. Went with a couple of my girlfriends and we got sat right away. Loved that the doors were opened up to the outside so we got a nice breeze while we enjoyed our drinks. I ordered the Espresso Martini, which is made with cold brew! I would have definitely preferred espresso, but it was still not bad! To eat, we all split the Brussel Sprouts, the Crispy Chicken Salad, and the Fried Fish Platter. All of it was so so good.. it is hard to pick a favorite!! The flavors in everything to the perfectly fried chicken goodness in the salad, to the sauce that came with the addicting brussel sprouts... I'm still dreaming of it weeks later. Our waiter was super helpful too... even gave us a list of recommendations which we reallllly appreciated! All in all- I'd love to come back to Curio next time I'm in Nola :)

Yelp
Service was great. Waiter recommended swapping the fried shrimp for grilled in this dish. This was a very good choice. Food was delicious and came out fast. It was around 10am and we sat in bar area. Would recommend to others.
google avatar

Brenda J.

Yelp
Cute little spot in the French quarters with excellent quality food. There fried alligator is well seasoned. You can taste the bourbon and the bread pudding the greens were amazing. Honestly it would be hard to pick out what my top dish would be because I enjoyed everything. Our waitress was amazing too super friendly and she made sure we had water all the time and that our food came out hot.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
My favorite thing about this restaurant is that it offers a chance to taste all of New Orleans' most famous dishes in one sampler plate: étouffée, red beans and rice, gumbo, and jambalaya. My favorite was the étouffée, although the red beans and rice are also excellent. They also make a good shrimp Po'boy sandwich. Nice, relaxed atmosphere and good service.
google avatar

David Y.

Yelp
Of all the cities I've visited, I think New Orleans must have the highest percentage of truly great restaurants. This is one of them. I had never even heard of Curio before, but my wife and I were wandering through the French Quarter and decided to stop in. We shared a bowl of roast duck and andouille gumbo and also a bowl of French onion soup. That is the best gumbo I've had in quite a few years, and the French onion soup was like something you might get in Paris. It was amazing! Also, the drinks here are excellent. Clearly, our bartender knew what he was doing. We had a Laveau Royale and a Cart Me Off. Definitely worth stopping by!
google avatar

Yelp
I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. Are we locals? No, but we are frequent visitors to NOLA, and love trying great restaurants. One thing that makes New Orleans special is the incredible hospitality and fantastic drinks. We were a party of 6 that went in at around 12:40 on a Tuesday afternoon. We were told the wait would be 35 minutes so we decided to try the bar that was completely empty. We ordered a couple of shots (Blanton's) and four cocktails. From the second we sat down, we were treated as an inconvenience by the bartender. One of my friends had a can of beer in a coozie that he had finished, and the bartender literally picked a fight about being rude coming into a bar with a drink in hand. He continued to make disparaging comments to my friend until we decided to cancel our table and leave. I would think that an owner and general manager would care about the terrible service and lost revenue. This bartender will RUIN your business, and if you keep him around, I have doubts that you will continue to be in business by my next visit.
google avatar

Avery M.

Yelp
nothing too crazy but still edible! spinach and artichoke dip was our favorite and crawfish pasta was still tasty

Yelp
What a treat this place was! We stumbled upon it while walking around NOLA. It was in a really convenient, easy to walk to area. The inside was small, but nice. The service was great! We sat at the bar and had a really attentive server/bartender! The drinks were fun. Most importantly, the food was amazing. I have thought about the jambalaya since. I have been to plenty of places in the area for Cajun foods and this restaurant really knocked my socks off flavor wise. Delicious. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
I don't know if Curio deserved four-plus stars when it opened, but it certainly doesn't now. I will give them credit, my drinks weren't bad. Unfortunately for them, I went for lunch, not just beverages. It was probably a sign when the two of us were seated in an echoingly empty, over air-conditioned room on the second floor, but the reviews have been great so we ordered anyway. The staff was reasonably pleasant and the food was edible, but three stars is the absolute max I can give. The entree we shared was two scoops of tepid grits in sauce that was not much warmer with a few cherry tomatoes for looks. Neither that nor the blackened shrimp appetizer were the Gulf shrimp they claimed, and they certainly weren't blackened. The barely inch wide things appeared to have been steamed and then dusted very lightly with Old Bay. Disappointed, we had a second drink (My hurricane was tasty, and lulled me into a false sense of security) and then braved the dessert menu. Unfortunately, the bread pudding was definitely quantity over quality. It came out as two chunky slices of soft, dense, kind of cold french toast cake. Very little in the way of spices to perk it up, and no ingredient in the 'bourbon sauce' had ever seen the inside of a barrel, that's for sure. Definitely not going back, especially not for what they charge. Not when there are that many other delicious options nearby.

Yelp
I am soe ding a day in the French Quarter, so I would be nuts not to go out and try some creole food! Walking around, I stumbled across Curio... A small, cute bar/restaurant. I was immediately greeted at the door by 3 girls to seat me. After being seated it did take about 5 minutes for anyone to come by and take my drink order, and there was o ly a few other customers in the establishment. Once the server came by, she was very polite and friendly. I decided on the shrimp jambalaya. You can upgrade to fried or blackened chicken but I stuck with shrimp. The food came out within 3 minutes! The presentation was nice. The rice and sausage had a nice flavor that wasn't too o et powering. The shrimp was season Ed nicely but tightly tough and overcooked. The seasoning were delicious but not dumped on so hot or thick that you couldn't taste the dish, it was great! The rice was soft, not mushy, even though it sits in a delicious jambalaya sauce. Overall, the food was delicious! The only knock is the price for the quantity and the duration I sat waiting for my order to be taken. The food made up for that though! I definitely recommend trying Curio.

Yelp
Learned of this place from a local so I had to pop in before leaving town. I had grilled salmon with rice and gulf shrimp. It was tasty but not overly spicy and that is always hard for me to find. I didn't have a drink but my friend thoroughly enjoyed a drink that was blackberry based. Service was attentive but didn't rush us despite it being a busy Friday night. I'd definitely return when I'm back in town.

Yelp
My friends and I stumbled upon Curio because during Mardi Gras, it was the only restaurant in the French Quarter that wasn't busy. In hind sight, this should've been our first clue that something was wrong. There was a large discrepancy between this restaurant's price point and the quality of food and service. I suppose you're paying for the prime location and the balcony view of the French Quarter, but that wasn't enough to make up for the poor food and service. Roasted Duck & Black-Eyed Pea Gumbo: I'll say this: I was so surprised by what I was handed that I asked the waiter, did the kitchen accidentally mix up my order and give me a side of beans and rice? Apparently no, my tiny bowl of beans and rice was actually the gumbo listed on the menu. I've had gumbo -- this wasn't gumbo by any stretch of the imagination. Fried Green Tomato and Gulf Shrimp Remoulade: This dish was fine. The green tomatoes were nicely fried and juicy on the inside, and the remoulade sauce was nice. The shrimp was nothing to write home about. Bayou La Fourche Omelet: The shrimp was actually quite nice, and I wish there was more shrimp included with this dish. The eggs and potatoes were super salty and were practically inedible. The toast was nothing special. Service: Despite this restaurant not being busy, the service was incredibly slow and error-prone. All we wanted was my friend's coffee, half and half, and ketchup. Receiving these three items required three trips from the waiter because each time he came, he forgot something and we had to remind him. He took an incredibly long time between each of these trips, and we could not find any other staff to help us with our requests -- it almost felt like we were forgotten on the balcony. There was also a lot of confusion over the coupon we received from Yelp for checking in. Neither the waiter nor the manager recognized the coupon and they did not accept the coupon at first. All in all, I would not come back here and would rather find a different restaurant in the French Quarter.

Yelp
After reservations at another nearby brunch location fell through, Curio SAVED THE DAY! And I'm so, so happy we found this gem! From the moment we walked in the hostess/staff welcomed us, provided a high chair, and made sure we were comfortable with our two little ones. It felt like we were being welcomed into someone's home, or were regulars, which is always a wonderful feeling. They even taught us a hack to turn the highchair upside down, so that the wide base holds the car seat securely -- so for that I am eternally grateful and our babygirl was nice and comfy too! Now that semantics are out of the way, let's get down to business: Food and Drinks! As new parents of 2 under 2 on our first vacation, brunch looks MUCH different than what it used to, but the ever-flowing mimosas (+$18 w/entree) brought us right back to our roots! Lol They were perfectly portioned taste/buzz-wise My meal, eggs pontchartrain, was DECADENT AF! Consisting of Louisiana crab cakes, eggs, spinach, tomato, sourdough, breakfast potatoes ($21.50) and blackened gulf shrimp ($5) try as I might, there was NO way I was finishing this in one sitting. The flavors were delicious and hearty, and it was the perfect dish to soak up the mimosas and fill me up. Highly recommended if you come in hungry! My partner has The Royal Street Breakfast, and although he didn't love the grits, agreed that the flavors and portions were on point. Overall, this brunch was a great experience and I will for sure add Curio to my list of NOLA brunches the next time we are in town. I suggest you do the same!

Yelp
I was excited to try this place as my friend recommended this spot. The service started off good and then slowly declined, we were brought food out without napkins and silverware; expected the server to come back and provide silverware but we ended up having to ask a different staff member. We had to wait a nice amount of time for the silverware to arrive. We also ordered bottomless mimosas which took a long time to happen with refills that seemed very unintentional and delayed for the fact that we were wanting to have a continued experience. The first round they provided was little to no champagne and seemed like the orange juice stole the show. The poboy sandwich my friend had was not brought out with hot sauce which took again a long time to ask for the sauce to be brought out. I understand places being busy but this was not the case, the waiter seemed overwhelmed and just not present. We sat upstairs on the patio which was nice, the vibe of music playing and passerby's made for a relaxed environment. The Super Bowl was happening later that day also Madi Gras weekend, maybe the staff member was overworked.

Yelp
The black eyed pea duck gumbo is incredible. Fantastic happy hour specials! Busy place but service staff keeps up with the pace.

Yelp
Arrived at this location when it was fairly empty. We first were sat at a table that was very wobbly but the hostess was able to change that within adequate time. The waiter seemed to be overwhelmed and took some time to get our order in. We ended up ordering the shrimp Po boy, the alligator Po boy and Two cocktails. Both sandwiches were amazingly delicious. The drinks were ok.

Yelp
Walked into this spot randomly walking around NOLA on a girls trip and was blown away. Shrimp and Grits with jalapeño, grilled shrimp and a light tomato butter sauce that wasn't too heavy and tasted divine. My group tried the hurricane cocktail and espresso martinis. Great indoor vibe at the bar but there's a patio upstairs for dining as well. And the entire staff was super friendly!!

Yelp
I came here 3 times on my 4 day trip in New Orleans. One happy hour, one evening drinks and one lunch. Happy hour - pretzel is super good, the cheese it's paired with is amazing. If you can sit upstairs outside on the patio, try to do so. Lunch menu has lots of options- we loved the burger, Cuban sandwich & the alligator poboy. Servers we had were great. 2 of the time we came we had massive attitude from the hostess however. Rolling her eyes, and super put out at us asking to sit upstairs.

Yelp
Great bar atmosphere, open to the street. Hubby and I ordered the Po Boy sandwich, delicious! Fresh shrimp, batter tasty, lettuce, tomato, pickels, mayo. However the bun tasted like from the grocery store, though it was toasted. Reiko our server made our lunch! He was extremely attentive, refilling our drinks, checking in to see if we were enjoying our meal. He made food recommendations, he's a gem. Worth returning to try another dish he would recommend!

Yelp
Don't normally leave reviews but this experience was truly awful, waited 2 hours for our food. There was a hair in it. Then waitress brought us the wrong food. Not worth the money, go somewhere else. Waitress seemed like she was high on crack.

Yelp
We started with an order of the spinach and artichoke dip -- the dip was great and was elevated by the melted feta cheese on top. However, the amount of dip was disproportionate to the five small toasted ciabatta bread slices that accompanied the dip. We ended up with a lot of dip left with nothing to dip. For my entree, I ordered the Curio Cheeseburger, which was topped with Gruyère cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and pickles -- all sandwiches between a fluffy brioche bun. The meat was cooked medium well just as ordered. The Gruyère cheese added a distinct flavor that paired well with the caramelized onions. Overall, it was a good burger. The fries were nothing special but still a tasty accompaniment to the burger. I was excited to try the s'mores brownie for dessert, but unfortunately they were out of every dessert except for the bourbon caramel donuts. They were ok -- along the lines of a donut you'd find at a chain. The bourbon glaze and powdered sugar did add to the overall flavor profile. The service was decent although a bit slow. Overall, our meal was decent. I'd go back just to try the s'mores brownie -- hopefully it will return.
