The Superior Boardwalk Bites of Ocean City

"Carefully snacking on crisp, salty fries as you protect your snack stash from the seagulls circling above is well worth the commitment when you get that first taste of these boardwalk culinary bites. Curly’s offers more than its classic fresh cut fries available with cheese sauce and other dipping options — the spiral fries and sweet potato fries are popular options, too." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Google
Cool spot on the boardwalk to grab something to eat, such as different types of fries, fried oreos chicken tenders and more. There lemonade is really good they offer seating which is on the side of the business so its in the shade. Staff is cool and friendly. Prices aren't too bad but typical of what you expect.

Monica Santiago

Google
They have great funnel cake and toppings. The curly fries were good. Prices were better than other places and tasted better. Their lemonade is not fresh, I could taste the lemon concentration juice in it. Or at least the lemonade they put in the Jumbo cup.

Kathy T

Google
Loved the French fries — perfectly crispy and so tasty! Will definitely be back for more!

Jaimie Varughese

Google
We got the funnel cake and curly fries! The funnel cake was OKAY nothing special- the middle of ours was completely wet dough. We brought this to their attention where they replied with an attitude but decided to give us half of a funnel cake as a redo. The fries were good though! There is seating on the sides which was nice.

Google
Update: fries still taste great. But they are definitely not using "cholesterol free peanut oil". Take note of the pictures, you can clearly see cases of "liquid shortening". Google it, yes it can be used for frying and tastes great but is not healthy. If you're gonna use it, fine but don't advertise one thing and do another. Oh and prices went up and does not include tax, so now I get all these coins back... Missed it when it was even dollars. Original review: Still the best fries on the boardwalk! Outdoor seating with umbrellas to keep the flying rats (seagulls) from getting your food. If you sit out on the boards, just watch out, them birds will come for ya! Try the fried Oreos too, they are excellent.

Google
Fries are okay. But their staff is rude and their expensive lemonade sucks. Crystal lite has more flavor.

Google
Best frech fries on the boardwalk. Especially curly fries. Great lemonade as well. Would highly recommend

Jen

Google
Yummy fries, good portion. Friendly, fast service. Right on the boardwalk, couldn't get better atmosphere!

Yelp
Yummy. I didn't get the curly fries but the funnel cake was everything you can ask for: decadent, messy, unhealthy, and drenched with powdered sugar. Perfect for a midday snack while visiting Ocean City.
google avatar

Dee M.

Yelp
I was a little disappointed this summer in 3 visits when purchasing lemonade that was really watered down. We did however enjoy the fries. So if we get the fries here we will get the lemonade elsewhere down the boards.
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
Had a funnel cake it was delicious, me and my daughter enjoyed it, while eating were seen so so many people with the homemade lemonade, had to get one it was the best. Staff so friendly. The place offered seating it was clean. Very nice

Yelp
I get it, it's a Jersey shore tradition. And the little bucket with the handle and convenient little holder for a tub of malt vinegar for $9 is something that would make a great souvenir and/or memory of your time on the shore. I liked the fries. I didn't LOVE the fries. Now this is all a matter of personal taste. My sister LOVES malt vinegar on her fries. I find the smell a little overwhelming and depending on my mood, even slightly revolting. And the fries themselves were my favorite kind, very similar to Nathan's - fat, soft in the middle (hmmm, I just described my waistline). But I found the fries to be super salty in its seasonings, and for that reason, I didn't give four stars. Shout out to the Triplet (you know who you are) who made the effort to walk up to the boardwalk to get them for us.
google avatar

Ilene S.

Yelp
It isn't a trip to the shore without stopping to get French fries. Curly fries has always been one of our favorite places.
google avatar

Lee M.

Yelp
Came for my annual fix and braved the Covid boardwalk crowd on a gorgeous October afternoon. No lines and the 4 minute wait to get piping hot fries was worth it. Love that the taste hasn't changed over the years. Perfect amount of salt and prepared & proportioned out condiments made it easy to walk while eating. Yummmm.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't say there's really anything unique about Curly Fries, but it never fails that I stop here while I'm on the boardwalk. The curly fries with cheese sauce are just too good to resist! You get huge portions, and there's also some other food options. The funnel cake and fried Oreos are also super tasty!
google avatar

Erin R.

Yelp
I mean... how could you go to the jersey shore boardwalk and not get a tub of curly's fries! These fries are a staple every year I head to the beach. Don't make the mistake of getting curly fries - get the crinkle cut! The bucket is great for splitting with a group of 4-6 people looking for a pre dinner boardwalk snack. Thick, salty, perfectly crisp fries that pair nicely with a big lemonade. I would recommend splitting the lemonade as well because they are a huge sugar rush! Don't forget to keep the bucket for discounted refills!

Yelp
If I could give them zero stars I would! Terrible customer service!!! The rudest employees I've ever encountered. And not just on one occasion. First strike was when the employee at the order window slammed the window with a line full of customers and never said a word like "hey we're closed" or anything. Then today the same employee didn't say one word to me when I went up to order. He gave me the "give me" hand gesture. I will never ever spend my money here again!! And not to mention the fries were soaked in oil and burnt.
google avatar

Pira T.

Yelp
I've tried fries at 3 different locations on Boardwalk and this is the best. I got some today and I wish I got the largest size.
google avatar

Bob H.

Yelp
I've been eating at Curly's fries since I was a young kid. This was our first time at the location in Ocean City. It's much smaller then the Wildwood location but they are the real deal. The don't have the seating area like the Wildwood location either. Prices were fair at $5.00 for a regular bucket. The fries instantly take me back to my childhood and it's a must have for us on the boardwalk. The staff was friendly and efficient. The fries were hot and came out super fast. We will be back! Solid 4 stars
google avatar

Valerie S.

Yelp
Meh. We didn't try the fries, but we weren't too impressed with the chicken fingers (basic kind right out of the freezer) or the fried pickles (the coating was a little blah). They seemed a little pricey for the small serving size, but I guess that's the boardwalk for ya.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Chunky fries. Hot out of the basket. Salt, vinegar, old bay, ketchup. Piled high. Crispy pieces on the bottom!
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
What a bunch of a holes I waited in line for over 20 minutes they didn't say a word ..... just shut the window on me , will never come back ever again!!!!....standing with both of my young daughters, .... They could've at least said we're only taking one more person to everybody who is waiting in line...
google avatar

Yelp
The curly fries are pretty good, but they would be even better if they had a malt vinegar instead of white vinegar. I like how the fry containers come with little side condiment holders attached. That's pretty neat. The fries are above average for the standard eatery, or any Boardwalk pizzeria, but I think I expected more from boardwalk fries.
google avatar

Kris L.

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised with Curlys fries! Stopped by and wanted to try both the curly (spiral) fries and the hand cut fries. They let me order half and half so I could taste both. The cup was a decent size but slightly overpriced at $4. It came with a condiment attachment which was perfect for multitasking on the boardwalk! (see my photo). The curly fries-I love curly fries not only because they remind me of childhood, but I love the seasoning! Nice and peppery with a slight spicy kick. The hand cut fries were perfect in texture and taste, crunchy on the outside, potatoey and smooth on the inside with the perfect amount of salt. MMMM MMMMM! The service was friendly, fast, and accommodating. The employee even saw me looking for a trash can and took my trash for me. I did not expect this sort of service on the OCNJ boardwalk! All in all, a great experience and the fries were so tasty. Will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
I was at OC for the day just to relax and my sister wanted to get a bucket of the fresh cut fries. I'm usually a fan of thin fries, not thick ones like the ones at Curlys but i must say these were quite tasty. However, the fries were all cut unevenly. Downside of this was that some fries was burnt and blackened. Some fries were crispy but some were mushy. Probably won't get their fries again.
google avatar

Rosy V.

Yelp
Definitely a must stop at the boardwalk! I love how there are multiple curly stations along the boardwalk every so block because they really draw you in with their fries and how convenient it is! Their curly fries are awesome! The fries are always piping hot and delicious and they leave a container of old bay out for anyone that wants more seasoning on their fries. The containers that they put the fries in are also very very convenient to hold and carry along the boardwalk since they have a little "cup holder" for the ketchup. The stand looks very clean and presentable and very family friendly. Every time I go to Ocean City Boardwalk I grab a bucket of these bad boys! Definitely worth grabbing if you want something to munch on!
google avatar

Joy L.

Yelp
I love me some Curly's Fries! They make them fresh every day, from real fresh potatoes, not some frozen crap. They're soooo tasty. I like them with lots of salt and vinegar or ketchup. They're both good. These are NOT the kinds of fries you would cheese on. That would ruin them. You buy a big bucket of these suckers and share them with your friends. It's a meal. Delish!
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Basically, the fries here are wonderful and the lemonade is overpriced. Plus if you buy their refillable cup, they don't give you a fresh lemon on the refill. I was not happy with that. That's all I got. That's all you really need to know.
google avatar

Al S.

Yelp
More like imposter fries! This is NOT the same fries as the much better Curley's Fries on The Wildwoods Boardwalk. (Notice the different spelling) Don't let the similar appearance of the fries fool you.. the batch I had today were limp and tasteless, with off-brand ketchup and vinegar served on the side If you're going to be a copycat, at least do it right. Do yourself a favor and drive to Wildwood for the real Curley's Fries.
google avatar

Karen T.

Yelp
They have always been super patient with the people who wait in line, get to the register, and then suddenly realize they have no idea what to order. They are pretty fast in moving the line forward, and they're making the fries for you, not keeping them under some heat lamp for a year. Fries (not the curly, but the regular) are very good, and small serving and a water/soda is reasonable, especially compared to some other boardwalk prices for treats. I think the Curley fries in Wildwood at 26th are slightly better, but otherwise these are really good. A sprinkle of salt and watching the waves come in as awesome, wish I was there now.
google avatar

Hunter B.

Yelp
Probably best fries you're gonna find on the boardwalk. It's really nice they have a cup attacked to the side for anything you want like ketchup. Also, they have a lot of things to put on top of the fries. I will return in the future.
google avatar

Carly H.

Yelp
Love everything about these french fries. I ordered regular with cheese and was in awe when they came out. So good. I may go get more right now!
google avatar

Stacey T.

Yelp
Best fries on the boardwalk and Tina is soooooo accommodating! Service with a smile! You have to stop by!
google avatar

Haley F.

Yelp
Always a long line but worth the wait. They have curly or regular cut fries that are both delicious. Half the staff doesn't speak/understand English but they get the job done.
google avatar

Michele H.

Yelp
We walked past this stand on our way to the Bashful Banana. My daughter loves french fries and being gluten free, it is often hard to find fries made in a dedicated fryer. Curly Fries does cook their "natural cut" fries in their own fryer. They are pretty good although I think, pretty expensive ($5 for a small "bucket".) I have to also add, the service is super friendly. I stopped by three times to buy fries and each time, it was literally service with a smile.
google avatar

Glenn C.

Yelp
Portions were giant! The small was $5 and plenty to eat. They go all the way up to buckets. You can get a free lemonade with a coupon in the local books they give away. We also bought the refillable mug for $2.75 that you can refill for $2. One of the better deals around the overpriced boardwalk. You can also get hotdogs there.
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
Best corn dogs! Curly's is on our must stop list whenever we are in Ocean City!

V I.

Yelp
Fries are so delicious but the workers give you attitude. I ordered a barrel size order of fries but they gave me a bucket size. Second when I wanted to buy water, one worker on the left sided window told me to get it myself. Although the fries are good, I rather give my business to a more customer service oriented place.
google avatar

Dan O.

Yelp
This place is always busy and the owner always seems to be onsite. I buy a small regular French fries once a week for $5 and they are very good. Made from fresh potatoes and always hot and prepared when ordered. They also sell a cup of fresh lemonade and if you bring the same cup back they give a significant discount on refilling that cup.

Rachel M.

Yelp
Only uses peanut oil. My peanut challenged friend cannot eat there and we were very upset. Please switch to canola oil which is much more friendly to the earthly population.
google avatar

Colleen S.

Yelp
Best customer service and best french fry quality on the boardwalk! My family hasn't been gone 24 hours and miss them already!
google avatar

Ciara N.

Yelp
Stopped here on way back to the hotel. Got a lemonade and curly fries...from curley's fries. 20 min of waiting later they "burned" the first batch and had to make new ... Total of half hour wait to get fries from a fry place. Not even going to mention how over priced it was

Marie B.

Yelp
Fries are always fresh , hot , and delicious. Would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the manager. Was there Easter Sunday. Paid w/ my debit card. Asked for a receipt. He shook his head no. Really? I asked him how was I supposed to know whether he charged me correctly. He looked at me and said " Do you really want one?" Wouldn't have asked if I didn't want it. Never got one though. Won't be back.
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
Ordered a small bucket of curly fries and a hot dog, nothing spectacular and it was super greasy. I would say maybe I ordered the wrong meal but when it's called "Curly's", you just expect the curly fries to be off the chain..
google avatar

Becky T.

Yelp
They. Were. So. Unbelievably. Slooooooow. All I wanted was a corn dog. It was at least 5 minutes before they even threw it in the fryer and it looked like it was a frozen corn dog from somewhere. This place redeemed itself though with their deep fried oreos. It was a nice crisp sweet batter and the oreo inside sorta melts apart so that the chocolate cookie has this spongy texture that was surprisingly cake-like and really yummy.

Yelp
Curly's fries are delicious French fries, chips, frites (or whatever you personally call them in the culture you're from). They will compete for best in the world let alone best on the boardwalk. The fresh-cut ones are the famous ones and the fries to order. You have some condiments to add to them like catsup, hot sauce, vinegar, and old bay seasoning but unfortunately no mayonnaise or other sauces like in the Netherlands or Belgium. Oh well, they are still very tasty ... and you're prob eliminating a couple of days of your life anyway by eating them and then going back for more.
google avatar

Jay W.

Yelp
I never understood why it was called curly's fries when their specialty is the crinkle cut fries. I would recommend against the curly fries (and I love curly fries) because they are nothing that special and you can find better on the boardwalk. However, the crinkle cut fries are tops, they have a light crisp to them and are very soft on the inside. They are also freshly cut. This is also where I get my corndog fix, they are pretty good here and makes a perfect meal for walking around. My girlfriend usually orders a lemonade and seems to prefer them here to many other places, but it's not really my bag. If you order a large lemonade you get a cup you can bring back and refill for $1.88 (the lemonades are something like $3 usually). That being said, prices are a bit extreme here.
google avatar

Augie P.

Yelp
Can anyone say Nathans? Decent fries. They look and taste like Nathan's fries to be honest. The fries could have been cooked a little more as they were not crispy and a little undercooked in the middle on the larger sized fries. That's all. DECENT not great.
google avatar

Dee L.

Yelp
These fries are sooooooo good! Go there. Get them!!! Much yum will be had. No regrets here lol.
google avatar

Brett G.

Yelp
Get the curly fries, obviously. Don't be shy, anyone can eat a whole large bucket if you try hard and believe in yourself.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
Delicious fresh cut fries. Decided to go here instead of Jilly's based on Yelp reviews. A regular size was good for 4 people.
google avatar

Colin C.

Yelp
Great fries. There are tons of options and most are pretty much the same but this one is the best. Three different types of fries: curly, chips and regular. They had lots if spices and dips and sauces for free. They make them large for all sizes and quickly for less than most of the spots. My wife thought the lemonade wasn't as good as some of the other spots though.
google avatar

Camille G.

Yelp
Best fries on the boardwalk. There are endless places to purchase a bucket of fries but this place is a fan favorite and OC staple for a reason.
google avatar

Ruth Y.

Yelp
I recently organized a youth group trip do to Ocean City, NJ. I did some research online to see what places on the boardwalk I should check out. This was one of the places that came up as a must try for their fries. I am proud to say that I had these fries for breakfast (followed by ice cream and more fries). I REALLY liked these fries. Usually I do not like thick fries, preferring the thinner variety. However, these blew me away. They were perfectly fried and seemed to have a very light batter over them. I definitely prefer them to their competitor's (Jilly's). I had the 2 sets of fries back to back, as mentioned above, for breakfast for better comparison. Perhaps it is because I was eating them for breakfast before my stomach woke up, but I thought there was a decent amount of fries even in the small bucket. I thought the size was the exact same as at Jilly's. One nice thing that Curly's does is that they put 3 toothpicks in the fries, so that you did not need to use your hand and for ease of sharing. They even had 3 different colors of toothpicks in the fries. I really appreciated this little attention to detail, as sometimes your (or your friends') hands are not that clean if you have been on the beach all day.

Yelp
Saw on Facebook it opens at 8 am! I went at 9:30 am on Sunday. The man working the 822 location said "we are not open!!" I told him it is listed on your face book page, he yelled at me that I was wrong! He was very rude and it does say they are open!
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
I was sitting on the boardwalk across from the place. I watched a worker spill a cupful of straws onto the boardwalk, diligently pick them up, then put those very same straws out for use.
google avatar

Doug F.

Yelp
Manager and workers were extremely rude, and refused to refund or even explain how a bug crawled out of my fries, right when the cashier handed me my order. Nearby customers also saw this, and left. The manager, an older man told me "It was just a bug, no big deal". And then called me a liar in front of everyone. DISGUSTING!!!! The next day my grandparents ordered a bucket of fries, but my grandmother brought a water in her purse. One of the workers saw her take a sip from it and made them leave their seats, saying they bought "outside beverages in." Mind you theyre in their 80s and it was pouring ran, at 9pm at night. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!! Horrible, rude and racist managers!!!!!!
