The Best Chicken Wings In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"You won’t be forced to take your wings from Curran’s Irish Inn home—the Northeast pub has a large outdoor patio if you’d like to eat them outside. While there are plenty of options for you to choose from, you can’t go wrong with the garlic wings. The sauce is satisfyingly spicy and the meat falls right off the bone." - candis mclean

I stopped here on Friday afternoon for the first time. It is located on State Road. Alison the bar server was very pleasant full of positive energy and a quick server. They have a wide selection of pub food wings steaks burgers wraps salads shepherds pie etc. I ordered the special a Pabst Blue Ribbon and a green tea shot then switched over to Guinness. I had a pleasant 2 hours here and will be back another afternoon for sure.

It was fabulous. Had hot garlic wings, cheesesteak. Wife had beef dip sandwich. Son had huge cheeseburger. Excellent. Might be top two wings I've ever had. Our waitress who was very sociable. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Food was fantastic. Never noticed this restaurant/bar before but glad we were introduced to it because will come again for some great food. I love the outdoor seating bar area very nice especially during summer time and nice days like today. Met some friends and our friend that was visiting from Florida, they were understaffed but the waitress did a phenomenal job and kept busy with some back staff help to bring out our dishes and drinks. Chicken tenders were amazing, and my fiancé said the steak sandwich was amazing too. The roast beef looked good as well I can’t wait to come back and try that, and they have white claws. Very nice atmosphere.

A very lovely venue where we celebrated Kelly's 50th birthday. Pleasant atmosphere. Exciting! Lots of dancing. Good food. Great people and a historic moment through Kelly. Great seeing you again lovely 50th party. God bless and many more.

TLDR: Food was great, but service was HORRIBLE I made a reservation for 6 pm on St Patty’s Day for a party 8. Table was NOT ready when we go there even though they knew we were coming because I called morning of to confirm reservation. There was no hostess or anyone to greet us or guide us to our table. we asked for a high stool 4 different times. Food came out so sporadically that the last person got his food after everyone ate (at least half an hour). I understand that it is St. Patrick’s Day, but tables are supposed to be served all at the same time when all are put in at the same time. The waitress literally CHASED me out of the restaurant to MY CAR. I didn’t add a tip because the menu said 18% tip was already applied to parties of 6 or more. We were a party of 8. So, was it optional??? She told me to “come back inside to go to the ATM to leave a tip.” Then, we asked for her to add a $25 tip on the bill of $220, and that wasn’t good enough after being CHASED out?! She literally was UPSET with me about it! I work in the service industry too, but this is a whole new level of unprofessionalism!

We previously reached out via FB messenger hoping for a response as well as calling in asking for a call back from the manager. No email address listed or contact us on website. We have been frequenting this location since I was a baby! Dine in and lots of take out. For NY eve we again ordered 100 wings as we do frequently 50 mild sauce on side and 50 Cajun. To our dismay the Cajun ones were barely seasoned as you can tell in the pictures. Almost looked like the plain ones. When we normally order or dine in they are well seasoned even has lots of spices falling off on the pan. Not so much as disappointed, mistakes happen, but nice to know when there are issues you won't get a response.

Food was great, Service was great, people were very friendly, bartender was fast at his job, very social to others, staff were very friendly and it was an awesome hangout bar. Chilled with friends and had some great drinks, bonded and played darts together. 10/10 would visit again sometime:)

Yelp
Second time I've tried giving this place a go. First time.. the wings were horrible even though they claim to have the best wings in the city.. tonight we had fried pickles (brought out the sauce and when I opened the lid it had a broken chip inside), and also a burger that I asked to be medium well (was well done) and to have mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.. came out with no onions and no mayo.. So both times I've tried this place.. fail. My Tito's and cranberry both times tasted nothing but juice..

Yelp
BEST WINGS EVER!!! Cajun , Hot, mild, they are great. Every time the same GREAT order a day ahead for super bowl!!!!

Yelp
I come here almost exclusively for wings on wing night (Thursdays) and never leave hungry or disappointed. One thing that has withstood the test of time in Northeast Philadelphia is Curran's. Yeah, sure, the inside could use some sprucing up, but you don't go there to look at pretty paint trims or woodwork - you go to eat flavorful, crispy, chicken wings by the bowlful with a group of buddies. Only thing that has sucked is going in and seeing a random/new waitress who sometimes seems to have a bit of an attitude when asking for things. Prime example, if you have a group of guys who have been coming in for 10+ years, if they ask for the "everything wing sauce" just give them the dang sauce on their wings. That reminds me, if you like to try new sauces, the "everything" wing sauce will not disappoint, as well as the hot cajun. You can thank me later ; )

Yelp
Wings Beers Cheers can't go wrong with this Irish Pub in Philly We've enjoyed this place for a long time, stop in enjoy!

Yelp
This is our go to spot for lunch time wings! The wings here are fantastic; the buffalo, cajun and garlic parm are all fantastic. This place is just a no nonsense, blue collar kind of spot. The clientele are young to middle aged roofers, sitting at the bar, oogling the insanely enhanced girl behind the bar. When we go in, we go to the other side of the inn and sit down for, what I believe are the best wings in Philadelphia. Beside being delicious, the wings are a decent size, so you won't feel TOO bad about shelling out the dough to eat here. 15 wings and a beer (including tip) ran me $25 the last time I was there. That ain't exactly a bargain, but its not highway robbery, because of the quality of the wings. The dining area is no nonsense; wooden tables and uncomfortable chairs. The waitress will take your order, bring your food and get out of your hair. There are tvs everywhere, so its probably a pretty sweet place to watch a game or ufc fight. Currans is firmly entrenched as one of my go-to spots, and is hands down my #1 for wings.

Yelp
So loud you could not talk. Bartender screamed the whole time we were there. Food was awful. Had garlic wings because they got rave reviews. I could not eat them. Tried one the thought maybe I should try another. So bad.... Had a corned beef sandwich. Not very good either. Will never go back

Yelp
Curran's Irish Inn in Foxchase is a great stop! The daytime crowd, kitchen staff, and bartenders are friendly and always helpful. The beers are cold and the Wings are the best!

Yelp
Came again for ayce crabs because our normal place won't have them again until summer. The crabs were better this toke than last, wondering they changed cooks because they were cooked perfectly meat slid right out but not over cooked. The butter seemed better this time too. I wish I could say the same about the service. There was one girl with like 4 tables possibly 5 all close together all having crabs so not a whole lot to do. Beer and crabs. She is just very slow. After we ordered drinks she came back 5 minutes later to say she didn't have something which is fine but why so long. Crabs came out steaming which I love with a side of fries. We also got wings because my boyfriend loves the honey bbq. Anyway everything good this time besides slow service this girl just moves so slow if you watch her. She's a nice girl doesn't seem like much personality in there but still.

Yelp
This place is way over priced and the menu, ill. I order a shrimp basket that only had 5 shrimps for $15. The shrimp are not even fresh, they came frozen in the bag from restaurant depot. The blue cheese for the wings is Ken's, not home made like the menu says. They are charging high prices for low quality food. Very disgusting. I should file a suit for the false info on the menu.

Yelp
Currans Irish Inn is a prime example of what a tavern should be like. It has a bar, a separate dining area and also an upstairs and outside area. The place is huge you can go with friends and not see them all night. The atmosphere is festive. The food here is excellent. The wings are phenomenal. I've had every variety of wings that they serve and they are all very tasty and cooked perfectly. My favorite by far being the Classic Hot Wing. The other food served here is also excellent. The prices are very reasonable. I've had most everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed. The patrons that frequent the place are friendly. I have never seen any problems here. The staff is professional and courteous. The bartenders are knowledgeable in the art of mixology, my favorite mixologist being Colleen. The servers are quick and productive. I cant stress enough what a good time this place is. Go ahead and check it out for yourself.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch because we heard the wings were phenomenal and were passing by on our way home. We got the french onion soup and 20 wings (10 mild and 10 garlic parm). The french onion soup was delicious. The onions were cooked down enough to where they melted in your mouth and the broth was well seasoned. Just my opinion, but it doesnt need the shake cheese and parsley on top as the soup can stand on its own. The wings were pretty average to be honest. They were cooked well with a nice crispy texture, but the sauces weren't that great. There wasn't much mild sauce and what was there was really salty. The garlic parm wings had a heavy lemon flavor that caused an unpleasant sourness which overpowered the garlic and parmesan. The tavern itself is a nice space but could definately use a cleaning. Also there were no shortage of flies buzzing around the dining room which was kind of off putting. I'd probably come back to the bar as their beer list is pretty extensive and maybe an appetizer to have with my drink but probably wouldn't return for a sit down meal. 2 stars for the awesome playlist they had going and the french onion soup.

Yelp
The wings are great on occasion. The service could be better but they have their days

Yelp
Best Wings in Philadelphia! Every time I go there always busy, staff is great! Order the wings well done and spicy sauce has a great taste and that perfect kick! Plenty of TVs for the games!
google avatar

Leesander R.

Yelp
The wings were amazing the service could be a little better but the experience was in bed especially with the Sixers game on in the background and multiple TVs to watch the Sixers game and other sporting events

Yelp
This place is excellent. Haven't been in awhile. The outdoor tent is warm n cozy, n food is slamming! Got wings n stuffed mushrooms.

Yelp
Neighborhood joint I've been to quite a few times. People swear by their wings, they are pretty good. Last night was the first night with outside dining since coronavirus held us hostage these past few months. Place was a bit crowded but the service was good. Me and my lady got a few beers and Cajun wings and mozzarella sticks. Both were good, beers were great! 8.1/10

Yelp
I've been hearing for years that Curran's has some of the best wings ever. It's hyped so much so I couldn't help but have those expectations when I went to try this location this past weekend. Hard pass for me. I wouldn't say the wings were bad, but they definitely weren't anything to hype about. We ordered 20 hot wings and they had barely any sauce on them. The wings with sauce weren't anything to write home about either. Also the establishment itself is pretty dirty. The windows and tables need a good wipe down. The floor was sticky as well. I could only imagine what the restrooms looked like.

Yelp
Best cajun wings around!! We frequent both places in Philly and Bristol and they never disappoint!!

Yelp
After years of visiting Tacony Currans, watching it slowly decline, tonight will probably be our last visit. This is primarily a party bar most busy on weekends and in the summer. It's close proximity to 95 makes it a convenient hang out. Live bands offer entertainment and their outdoor bar makes Currans a hot spot for the younger drinking crowd. Our issues tonight, combined with the issues we tolerated are as follows: Initially, we opted for Currans tonight because the website stated Wednesday nights were wing night. Once at Currans it turns out it is Thursday's. Our waitress did not offer to check with management or send one to the table just laughed it off and said she didn't know. Secondly, after ordering a drink and a beer we asked for some water - she brought out a bottle of water, we said tap was fine; apparently they no longer offer water only bottled and charge a buck a bottle. This is insane when you are ordering water with your meal and alcoholic beverages. Additionally what has been a constant issue of mine personally is the fact that they serve their drinks in plastic cups. This is an incredibly lazy business practice. When sitting at a table eating a meal one should be served beverages in glass wear not clear solo cups. This isn't a backyard BBQ, please, please wash a glass! The interior is being neglected. The windows need a good cleaning and the woodwork that surrounds the tables hasn't been tended to in some time. The bathrooms are in extreme disrepair, rundown and in need of thorough cleaning/sanitizing. The women's room even has broken glass in the stained glass windows. The novelty copper topped tables are becoming unglued and have air pockets that make setting down your drink tricky. The unseasonably warmer weather would have been perfect timing to tend to these issues With bars on every corner and other establishments who value their patrons we will be taking our business elsewhere. Hopefully Currans will tend to these issues and we will be able to return, but until then we will pass on Currans.

Rex M.

Yelp
In my opinion hands down the best wings in Philly! The Cajun wings and the garlic wings are my two favorite! Thursday night is wing night, definitely give it a try.

Yelp
Best wings in Philadelphia! Dry rub with a cup of bbq sauce on the side...bombbbbb! Cant wait until they open up indoor seating!

Yelp
My husband and I are new to the area both working professionals that just wanted some quick dinner. I heard from a local that this place had the best wings . They weren't wrong I oved the garlic wings but we waited awhile for anyone to engage us like we didn't even have drinks at the table for at least 10-15 min. There was no waitstaff at this establishment and we went in around 5pm. Anyways besides the wings I ordered the crab cakes and I'm sorry to say they were gross not what I was expecting tasted like it was nuked in the microwave but the fries were good. Personally I wouldn't return to this place

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. I've been here more times than I can count (even had my graduation party here) and will keep coming back for sure. I definitely recommend it. $$ - 70.20 for a 15 wing sampler, two cheesesteaks, BBQ pork sandwich, buffalo chicken wrap, 6 pints, and a sprite. Drinks - the bar at Curran's is stocked pretty well with lots of different drafts, including several IPAs and craft brews. happy hour Mon-Thurs $2 domestic pints. my only complaint in this section is the coldness of the brews. they're not warm but they could definitely be colder. Food - Curran's is definitely more bar than restaurant, but the menu is big and the food is good. the wings are known around here because they're delicious. Cajun is the best flavor, but I love them all. the cheesesteaks are good also. Service - not good by wait staff, bar staff is good. they're all very nice, but we could've gotten our refills faster walking to the bar ourselves than by the waitress. manage your expectations here. Ambiance - sports bar! lots of TVs throughout so you won't miss your game. indoor and outdoor bars (summer time with the awning makes for a nice time). trivia: the seats they use for the restaurant are made from the old pews of our local church and Catholic school (representing St. Bernard's). big windows mean lots of natural light and nice breeze. there's also a juke box! Extra - Fridays there's live music and Saturdays there's a DJ and live music. shuffleboard in the bar area! one thing I must add: sometimes there's minimal parking on the street if you're coming up State Road (southbound) towards the new 95 on-ramp. make that right at the light on Longshore and there should be parking along Longshore. if not there's a parking lot right there on the left (next to the on ramp) which always has room.

Yelp
Went for all you can eat crabs that is advertised on Mondays from 6pm-9pm. We arrived at 635 and sat for 10 minutes before being greeted by anyone. The waitress took our drink order and a few minutes later the 2 sodas were dropped off by the bartender. When the waitress came to take our order at 650 we were told, "sorry we are done with crabs for the night". The place was empty other then 2 tables and 3 or 4 people at the bar.
google avatar

Phuoc N.

Yelp
I always drive by this place on the way home and been dying to try their All You Can Eat Crab Legs on Monday night; finally got to today. When you order the crab leg special you also get French fries for the table, which are seasoned very well. The crab legs itself are pretty good in size and very delicious, seasoned with old bay I believe. Our server's name was Devin and contrary to what other people have said in reviews, we had really good service. Devin greeted us right after we sat down, got our food out quickly and always made sure to check on us. The only downfall was that toward the end of the night they ran out of crab legs but offered crab cakes and wings instead. This actually worked out well for my girlfriend and I because we were curious about trying the garlic wings and let me tell you, they were delicious. Overall, food and service were great and we both left full. I can't wait to see what the other menu items taste like.

Yelp
The best wings in the city!! Their cheesesteak special is very good and great price. Love the French dip and roast pork sandwich.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Best wings in Philadelphia. Have not found a place with wings that can match them. Also, their French Onion Soup is a diamond in the rough. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Great food! Great atmosphere love going here after work for food and drinks. Grew up in the area been coming here since 2014

Yelp
Went on January 4, 2013. It was a big game night for the Eagles. Ordered wings over the phone and was given an hour and a half wait time. I did not have an issue with that. What I had an issue with was the girl over the phone. Turns out she was the girl that took care of me when I picked up my wings 2 1/2 hours later. She should not have ever been allowed to handle pick up orders. There were many of us waiting for pick up orders. Some were waiting a couple hours past their expected pick up time. And this was because she kept calling for a person who clearly was not there. The cook even came out of the kitchen and started yelling at her to move on because other orders were getting backed up and he was worried about the integrity of the food. Finally I received my order. When I got home the order was wrong and the I did not receive all of my change. To be exact I was missing 10 dollars change on the bill. I advise to anyone who is going to order from there to make sure you count your money and check your order for it to be right.

Patrick G.

Yelp
PROS: Decent bar for sports. Gotta love the Cajun wings and other finger food here. CONS: Wings are starting to get pricey.
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
Waitress is so busy on her phone that another girl delivered the food and my drink never got refilled. Chicken cheesesteak tastes cheap. This place used to be great when Jenny was here.

JoAnne M.

Yelp
I love the entertainment but the rest has been come very suspect. I have going there for years. My family and friends all have been there. The last time I was there we go to pay with a credit card and get told no they don't take them. This was in the Patio and we have used credit cards before more then once. Ok, we use cash and the bartender seems to assume our change is their tip. Then to find they let some people use there credit cards. I will be very hard pressed to go back again.. I don't like being lied too and at worst stolen from. Its so sad that I have to write this, but I feel as if the public needs to aware of it.
google avatar

Raquel S.

Yelp
I had a good time, but I'm pretty sure that was due to the company I was with. The waitress was short with us and looked so busy even though it wasn't that busy in the restaurant. She had two other tables. The food took FOREVER to come out even though it was just shepard's pie and wings. The good wasn't anything memorable in any way. Mixed drinks with Stoli were just $4, though.
google avatar

Marlene W.

Yelp
I've been to this place a few times and have never been disappointed. The food is good and the bartenders are nice. The bartender kicked me out and I will never over tip him again. A penny in a glass of water for him.

Yelp
Great food, great environment, reasonable pricing for their craft beer list and awesome place for parties out on their new beer garden on the patio!! This location is also being voted for the best wings in philly!! Yelp
Went for happy hour and the prices and service were good. Live bands started at 7 pm on a Friday upstairs for the free happy hour someone my wife works with won. Although not many people she works with showed up we still had a good time. Before we left we ducked into the downstairs dining room. Figured that I read so much about the wings that we had to try some. We started with the sampler platter (you get to choose three diferent types) and they were big, meaty and delicious. Also tried the filet mignon sandwich was very good as well. We were going to order fries but the waitress advised that the sandwich came with plenty to share. The overall experience was pretty good and I could see going back for more of those wings.

S G.

Yelp
False Advertisement!!!! / BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!! I visited the past four times in the past month 1/2 for Wednesday Mussels special and I've called prior to coming and they said they had mussels and every time I would come the waitress will say they don't have any it's very upsetting. I'm highly upset at the false advertisement and poor customer service. I will not be returning again.
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
Additional parking lot adjacent to Pub. Buffalo wings are delicious! However it would be nice if they use glasses instead of disposal cups for their beverages. Place is clean.
google avatar

Alicia L.

Yelp
The wings were good, best in the city? I've had better. I went on a Thursday when wings are $.50, ordered the garlic parm and mild wings along with curly cheese fries and onion rings. The sides were great except the sauce that came with the onion rings. The wings were OK. Fried well but the garlic parm didn't have much flavor/seasoning, the mild was the right amount of spice but again no flavor. The service on a scale of 1 to 5 was a 1.5. My waitress hardly checked on us, it took almost 30 min just to receive just the fries and another 30 to get the remainder of our food. 1 hour total. We ordered a beer that took 15 min to come and her excuse was that it was backed up but we watched.... She never went to the bar to see if it was ready. How long does it take to pour beer in a glass?

T W.

Yelp
All you can eat Muscles were very good. Our server MaryLee was the best. Thanks for a great dining experience.

Yelp
2nd week in a row we've been here. The cajun wings are everything, never get tired of them. I Got my mom hooked. Lol! Thursday's are half off wing night, so it gets crowded, be prepared.

Colleen G.

Yelp
Worst ribs EVER. Nothing worse than chewy gristle .reminded me of bad Chinese spare ribs from 1975.. dude low and slow cmon! . I had to SAW through these. All in, i took maybe 3 bites from different sections. None of it was cooked properly. Ok fries were good. Save your money.

Yelp
Review is for Sunday $5 pitchers of Miller Lite and $.35 wings. Wings were yummy and they had my garlic parmesan. My friend loved the hot wings. They have a big bar menu. Booths and lots of TVs to watch the game.

Yelp
Love the wings Cajun BBQ Garlic and Mild are all good and the stuffed mushrooms are delicious. Service was very slow

Yelp
awesome tacony style eatery the regulars are great management n help are wonderful

Michael M.

Yelp
Pros: good wings, good half price Thursday deal and nice wait staff. Ally was our waiter and she was nice and very responsive to get our order. Cons: loudest dining area. Ever. It sounds like everyone is screaming over each other in a gymnasium. Bring ear plugs and be prepared to read lips. You can't hear your own thoughts. They need some acoustic foam on the walls. Seriously. Other con for me would be that they are a sports bar with lots of distracting TVs. I'm sure most people love the distraction and meaningless sports games, but that isn't me. I would not recommend this place at all if you are trying to have conversations with your friends. I would recommend this place for cheap wings at the cost of loosing your hearing.
google avatar

Kelly O.

Yelp
Only stopped in here for a bit while my friend's band was playing - wish they put the band downstairs so we were with everyone else. The band was great and I would have liked to have been downstairs with the rest of the bar. But other than that, the place is pretty cool, with a chill vibe.

Yelp
Great wings and great place for sports. Everyone in the northeast knows about it. Awesome in the summers too. Go Eagles!
