The 18 Best Restaurants In Berlin 2024

"There’s perhaps no better introduction to Berlin than eating currywurst: sausage slathered in curried ketchup with a side of fries. If you’re hopping around Museum Island, you’re just around the corner from Curry 61, where there’ll probably be a small crowd of locals and out-of-towners gathered outside the order window. Service is fast—once you have your food in hand, squeeze in at one of the few tall tables, and eat while admiring the mural of the Berlin Wall’s famous Fraternal Kiss graffiti painting (remixed to feature a curry-drenched sausage)." - cindy brzostowski, olivia ladanyi

Google
Famous and crowded sausage place to enjoy the local tastes! You can choose the currywurst to be softer or more crispy upon ordering. The sauce was too salty in my opinion. Waiting in a queue may be needed. There are some tables for you to eat while standing and chatting! Recommend having a taste of Berlin here!

Google
Currywurst was the one thing i really wanted to try the authentic version of and all i can say is that i was not disappointed. I got the crispy sausage one with fries, which was maybe a little much cuz honestly both me and my friend (having bought one each) felt very full for a while after because the portions are very generous. Despite that the food was really good, nice juicy sausage with a flavorful sauce and beautifully seasoned fries. Only thing tho, you have to get a drink with it because the seasoning is pretty salty. Also there is no seating, just standing tables.

Google
I tried the the currywurst with fries and it was delicious. Definitely the best food I had during my stay in Berlin. The staff was super friendly and the portions are huge, considering the price. The sausage alone would be enough to fill up an average person. The sauce was especially tasty, however it makes you thirsty, so I would recommend also ordering a drink.

Google
I couldn’t leave Berlin without trying the classic sausage in a bun, and I chose this spot because there was always a bit of a line—always a good sign. I have to say, it was really tasty and perfect for a quick dinner while strolling through the neighborhood. The staff was fast and friendly, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.

Google
Curry 61 offers the best price for delicious bratwurst! You can order inside or outside, and they even have a place inside or outside you can eat . I first visited 6 years ago and recently went back; still as amazing as the first time. 10/10, would recommend.

Google
Such nice staff. The sussages were really delicious. They speak English as well and they are happy to help and offe lf you are not decided. The spicy one for middle easyern country is not spicy so please ask for more spices. Is better to get as get away because inside is really warm. I really recommend this place. You have to a little wait in queuee which it worths

Google
Expensive for what it is, but you pay for location. Charger me €0.40 for mayo… not bad and they do veggie wurst

Google
Stumbled upon this place as we had randomly encountered an ad for it the day before elsewhere in the city. Plenty of German patrons inside so we didn't feel like it was a tourist establishment. Decent prices for currywurst with fries. There were tables to stand and eat. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Had to try currywurst in Berlin, of course. Was in the area and am pretty sure this spot was mentioned on the Infatuation so I popped in for a quick snack. When I got there there were only a few other parties, but by the time I was leaving it was packed to the brim and a line was forming so perhaps go at an off-peak time. I wasn't in the mood for fries since I practically ate them with every meal in Germany so got the crispy currywurst without fries. I think this is just a personal preference but this was essentially just a chopped up hot dog to me. Don't think the dish itself was mindblowing, but honestly the fries other people were munching on looked awfully good so perhaps with a side of fries it could hit more.

Yelp
During my visit to Berlin, I really enjoyed the Currywurst here and the place is amazing!

Yelp
Interesting place. Good, quick service even with a line all thr way down the street. I would say try it if you are in Germany visiting from out of town.

Yelp
Miss this place. Did a little research on Herta Heuwer before coming on our honeymoon trip to Europe and had to drop in here when we arrived ar our hotel. High level comfort food. The bratwurst I ordered was extra spicy with the onions and currywurst amazing. Service is great and a great atmosphere while you're grubbin on a historic recipe and a refreshing German Pilsner. Can't wait to return.
google avatar

Parker M.

Yelp
Both choices were good, but didn't blow me away. Especially when comparing to just other currywursts around Germany, altogether
google avatar

Graham G.

Yelp
I thought this was good. Was not great. The staff wasn't very nice but the food was good. First time having currywurst and was a good experience. Would have given this a 4 at first but ended up having currywurst as a part of my dinner that same night which was substantially better.
google avatar

Yelp
Was delighted to see that there was a currywurst shop that offered vegetarian wurst located so close to my hotel. Came here on a weekday afternoon to grab a quick bite to eat. The place was pretty busy, with the seating area indoors being pretty full, and a line of customers waiting to order, which I took as good signs. I got a vegetarian wurst with fries for myself, along with some ketchup, and a regular wurst with skin with fries and mayo for the bf. Service was a little on the curt side, but the line moved fairly quickly. As for the wurst? It wasn't the best currywurst we had ever had, but it was tasty enough. Not bad for a quick bite to eat, and their co-opted "The Kiss" mural inside provides some premium chuckles.

Yelp
When my travel partner tried to order the currywurst at a sit-down restaurant nearby, the waiter told him "no, our currywurst is trash. Order something else then go to Curry61 for great currywurst later" and promptly showed us how to find this place on Google maps. Regardless of his motives (hates his own restaurant, has personal ties to Curry61, dreams of owning his own currywurst stand, genuinely wants non-Berliners to enjoy his favorite street food? I think about this often...) this place was a treat. As a vegetarian, I did not expect to be able to eat much more than fries and the occasional mushroom-based dish in Germany. Curry61 surprised me with a vegetarian currywurst that left me dying for more. We stopped by many other currywurst restaurants during our time in Berlin, but our waiter was right, nothing holds a candle to Curry61.

Yelp
We found this place on yelp. This is a good place if you want to try currywurst. I recommend to have fries with currywurst because they gave you so much sauce.
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
When in Berlin. That's the saying right?! We made it our goal to try all the Berlin street meat. Diner Kebap and Currywurst. And this was the recommendation for Currywurst. The little restaurant was near Alexanderplatz and was on our stop before the TV tower. The lady working was accommodating even with my bad German. Even helped me a little. We all got the classic with the fries. The Currywurst has a slight crisp on the outside with the soft uniform consistency on the inside. With the powder seasoning and the crunchy fries, this hit the Berlin spot. Was it the greatest food? No. But was it cool and iconic for Berlin? Yes!
google avatar

Wenny L.

Yelp
Best place for currywurst! Affordable for only 2.5€, but if you want fries, its an extra 2€. Mayo or ketchup is an extra .4€, but there is already so much ketchup on the wurst, you don't really need extra. If you're like me and enjoy the curry spice, you can ask for some more curry powder, and they're very nice about it. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
I liked the Currywurst at this place and the fries also tasted good. The service is fast and friendly. The price of getting a Wurst is affordable with around 2,50€ and the sauce has a nice taste. Also the sauce can be made spicier to fit your personal preference which I really liked. Overall I really liked the experience and think this is one of the best Currywurst in Berlin!
google avatar

Nydia D.

Yelp
Best Currywurst I've ever had! This little Imbiss is the perfect place to go to after a long day at museum island. Service is fast and very friendly. And those fries are oh soooooo good and crispy, but not at all oily! They even have a stamp card rewards program where you get a free menu item of your choice after your 8th order! Since this place is sooooo delicious, you'll fill that card up in no time!
google avatar

Yelp
Supposedly the best in town? I had the original Currywurst and I don't understand the hype of this. It's drowned in ketchup with a sprinkle of curry powder. It's a great snack size and commonly consumed here so I suggest giving it a try.
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
Our tour guide told us this was THE BEST curry wurst in town so we tried it and were not disappointed at all. It's a small walk-up and 3/4 of the people in line were ordering in English. The staff were all so nice and accommodating. Get the currywurst spicy with skin on and an order of their tasty fries and you're set. We also tried the bratwurst and my daughter said it was the best she's ever had.
google avatar

Cecilia O.

Yelp
Heard of this place from a travel vlog and had to stop by. The man who served us was very pleasant, great attitude and very very helpful! This was the best place I've eaten at so far on my 8 days of travel in Europe. Hoping to visit again before we leave Berlin. I ordered the skinless currywurst with fries and mayo.
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Friendly staff and inexpensive, good curry wurst! No line when I arrived but as I ate the line got exponentially longer. There's a small seating area and people seem to loiter around outside in the street as well.
google avatar

Noelle B.

Yelp
This was the first currywurst that we have ever tried and it was amazing! The first time we went, it was a little later in the evening and there was around 15 people in line. The people working that night were amazingly efficient and the wait was not too long. The second time we went a little right after they opened so there was no wait. Both times, we ordered the currywurst without the skin and fries. The meal was very cheap and very good! Definitely stop by here if you are looking to try some deli
google avatar

Vee K.

Yelp
They have VEGAN currywurst, ya'll! So happy that I got to try this signature Berlin dish. The folks who take your order understand English so ordering is easy peasy. Americans, beware that they *do* charge for ketchup or other condiments because it's Europe. But they put so much curry ketchup on the currywurst that I could dip the fries in it, too! I tend to find a fav local food to eat when visiting a foreign city. Currywurst was mine in Berlin. I came here 3 times in my 4-day stay!
google avatar

Caity H.

Yelp
We wasn't sure at first but you know, gals gotta eat and not break the bank (ya feel?) so we found this little joint and went to see what's good. They got vegan stuff for those that dabble in that (shoutout tofu) but I went for the original, skin on (you'll know if you go), a little curry tomato sauce, got my drink and ate my bit. That ish was bangin'. You can get chips for those that need a lil something xtra, even throw a bun in there if u really want.
google avatar

Vijay K.

Yelp
I was in Berlin for 6 days so naturally I was tracking down any and all Currywurst. This was hands down my favorite. it has a better kick than most and with the fries + Mayo was fricken delicious. I came back to the stop after a night of drinking and it was still pretty amazing the guys made it extra spicy for me as well. I would definitely give it a go again if I ever come back.
google avatar

Yelp
This tiny little stand poking out of a wall doesn't look all that exciting when you first spot it, but having done my research beforehand and read lots of reviews I was expecting something pretty good. This was my first experience of Currywurst despite it not being my first visit to the city, so I don't really have much to compare it to. It was absolutely delicious, though. Despite having to huddle against a neighbouring wall to eat from our little cardboard trays, it just added to the experience! Curry 61 was ridiculously cheap, costing less than 10 euros for a currywurst & chips each, a beer and an ice tea. Perfect for a quick and cheap bite whilst exploring the city. If we hadn't been travelling hand luggage only I definitely would have picked up a jar of their sauce to try for myself at home!
google avatar

Briony C.

Yelp
You can't come to Berlin and not have Currywurst. It's just wrong. We took a diversion here to give it a try - I couldn't remember if this was the "right" one to try but I like to live dangerously. For a whopping €1.90 (not a typo) we got a Currywurst to share. In hindsight, chips would've been a good addition. Nonetheless, we got a tasty sausage smothered in curry powder then topped in sauce. Is it sacrilege to say it kinda just tastes like tomato sauce? I like it all the same. I foresee more Currywurst in my future. This place is tiny and just has two tables to stand at while you scoff. It's cheap though, so that's ok.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Had the most delicious vegan currywurst and fries there smothered in their home made curry ketchup! The food was so so good! the staff are so nice and were singing along to the music. The portions were perfect. Highly recommend even for a vegetarian! Was happy to be able to enjoy a Berlin classic- the currywurst!
google avatar

Sushi X.

Yelp
This was my first time trying currywurst and it was amazing. Currywurst is basically mild bratwursts and fries covered a ketchup-based sauce but not as potent as straight-up ketchup (I believe it contains Worcester sauce) and topped with curry powder. I can see why this is the most popular street food of Berlin. If I lived here, I'd have it all the time.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
I truly love this place. Their fast but without budging on quality. They were my very first experience with currywurst, and for this, they have forever changed my life. Nommm!
google avatar

Alison K.

Yelp
Great place for currywurst! Been told it's better than the well-known Curry 36, and this place does not seem as tourist-y or crowded, so you'll be able to order quickly and get a spot if needed. Very affordable, and they make their own tomato sauce (it's not just ketchup, which costs extra to order). They also offer vegetarian wurst. Definitely also order fries- either with mayo or just dip them in the tomato sauce!
google avatar

Kris K.

Yelp
Food was really cheap and tasty. Definitely a place to visit if you want a Berliner Currywurst. It's a little stand so you might have to wait but it's worth it.
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
I had my first currywurst here & it was soooo good. We trekked through the rain to get to this place & it was worth the soaking socks. We loved it so much, we had to come a second time before leaving Berlin. Fries were perfectly crunchy & soft in the inside. I was so happy to see a vegetarian option as well.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Fantastic frites! I recommend getting with mayo and dipping them into the curry sauce. The currywurst was great, but I think I liked the frikedelle with the curry the best. Washed it all down with a Berlin Pilsner. And the service was fantastic! Very friendly and helpful. The people who were sharing the small space outside the window were also very friendly. There's a lot here and all the prices are super good. Looks like they also serve soft serve ice cream, though I didn't have enough room....
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Omg! It was everything and more. The sweetest man behind the counter apologize that we had to wait , the hubby had a vegan wurst. We each had a curry wurst , fries, a roll , and a coke for 9 euros. They also sell their sauce in a bottle for 2,70 euros?
google avatar

Natalia M.

Yelp
The best Currywurst in Berlin! The service was fast and the quality of food was amazing. I wasn't a fan of Currywurst until I tried there's. Also, can never go wrong with some fries on the side :)
google avatar

Becca B.

Yelp
I got the currywurst and it was perfect! I've had German bratwurst before but never combined with the curry sauce and this was an amazing first try. The sauce was not too strong and tasted a little sweet and the fries were just what I needed. The line was a bit long but it goes by very quickly since the people are so efficient. There is a little section to sit but I ate it on the go and it was not an issue. Also, they don't take card, so make sure to have some Euros on hand.
google avatar

Brski B.

Yelp
Simple and brash though it might be, I really loved currywurst. Culinarily speaking, the Germans do at least one thing better than the French - potatoes. Their potatoes are always twice fried and perfectly crisp with soft interiors.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
Good curry in the middle of mitte. The curry powder was great and the sausage itself was delicious
google avatar

Sutton M.

Yelp
I just don't get the hype.....Food was really cheap but definitely not tasty.
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
Best currywurst in town. Stopped in to try the currywurst and boy am I glad I did. Delicious high quality wurst and the homemade curry sauce is delicious. Not overly spiced but just enough for the right flavor. We also opted to get the spicy seasoning on top for a little kick off heat. All in all very good so definitely give it a look. Can't wait to come back! P.S. We didn't try the fries because we just had some potatoes at one of the Christmas markets but they looked really good judging by our neighbor's plate. There was no line even though it was 2pm on a Saturday. Not sure if we got lucky or if that's the norm.

Amy L.

Yelp
I used to visit Berlin almost every other summer as a kid and had my fair share of currywursts. This time, I came trying to figure out which one was my favorite. I want to say this place is my favorite due to the location and just how crispy the casing was. If you're not a big fan of casing, you can choose no casing as well! Don't forget to get fries and mayo, so you can dip the fries into both the sauce and mayo. In addition, I was standing by some Berliners and they told me this is their favorite spot! I definitely prefer this over Curry 36!
google avatar

F. L.

Yelp
I think I just don't get the hype. Currywurst is just a really bland sausage covered in ketchup. It's perfectly fine but there was nothing remotely exceptional about it.
google avatar

Emily N.

Yelp
Decent currywurst. I might have set my expectations too high because of all the good things I've heard, but I wasn't the biggest fan unfortunately
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
Apparently (based on my group of 4, inclusive of me) you either like currywurst or you don't. Well I had it for the first time and I really enjoyed it. Crisp casing and juicy filling with the pomme frites - yum. It's quick, it's cheap and it's good!
google avatar

Jieyi H.

Yelp
Discovered this place after my visit to Anne Frank Zentrum nearby. It is a small shop that serves different variety of sausages. There is no seat but two high tables to stand around when eating. Normally I don't allow ketchup to touch my food. But this? Exception:) I had quite a few currywursts during my short stay in Germany. This stall made them tastier. I ordered Berliner currywurst (€2.50) and boy, it is so yummy! Love the combination of the tangy sweet ketchup with a hint of curry and the savoury taste of the wurst! I almost ordered one more but in the end, I decide not to waste my calorie intake on the same food. So I ordered bockwurst instead. It is cooked by steaming instead of the usual grilling for the other sausages. This is tad saltier with a smoked taste, served with mustard. Great for on-the-go or those feeling a little peckish:)
google avatar

Austen M.

Yelp
Let's state up front I am a huge fan of good currywurst! There is a lot of bad versions out there, but when you get a good portion it is amazing. This place is a hole in the wall type joint, with no seating and very little cover. What you will find is queues of locals waiting to get their portion and that is immediately a good indicator that you are at the right place. Not much left to say . You get your order in a cardboard box, loads of fries , plenty of sausage, lashings of curry sauce and for me , mayo on top. Stand in the street and eat your way through a little bit of Berlin street food heaven. You will not be sorry! Well unless you don't like sausage or curry. But that would just be crazy !

Christoph W.

Yelp
The small stall sells very tasty curry sausages. The very friendly service completes the formidable overall experience
google avatar

Peter A.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of currywurst, but if you want to try the food all turists must, this is not a bad choice to do so. Curry Mitte is however more of a locals' choice a believe.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
Walked by this place and there was a line, so I figured it had to be good. Just a small, simple food stand and the man understood minimal English, but man, the currywurst here was the best I had in Berlin. The sauce was how it should be, not the fake ketchup-y crap often served at shops/stands near tourist spots. Go here, you won't regret it!
google avatar

Tyler L.

Yelp
Fantastic curry wurst in Berlin. We almost didn't stop because of the line, but figured the locals must know that it was worth it. Staff was very friendly and quick. The currywurst itself was fantastic. Who knew a sausage and fries smothered in curry sauce and powder could be so good? Well I guess I did, which is why we stopped, but I digress. Fries were fresh made and nice and crispy. Definitely a great quick stop for lunch of a snack. Convenient when exploring Berlin.
google avatar

Liting W.

Yelp
Curry sause with fresh tomatoes! Super Match!!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Thi D.

Yelp
While in Berlin, we really wanted to try the currywurst, since it's done a little different. We went with an order of just the currywurst without casing to share. The wurst was doused in sauce and we asked for some dried chilli, but it didn't make it that spicy. The wurst sans casing was good--nice and crunchy. It was good, quick and cheap street food.
google avatar

Aria F.

Yelp
Wow! Great tasting curry wurst. The owner is also super nice and always has a smile on his face. He seems to enjoy every wurst that he makes. I would recommend not getting the mayo though since he pours way too much. The beer prices are super cheap too so make sure you get some booze with that wurst
