The service was friendly, and the food was fantastic. We had the Vietnamese pork & elk spring rolls and Bali chicken satay to start, both were full of flavour including the peanut satay sauce. For mains, the Thai chicken curry and pork belly donburi with sweet chili glaze were excellent. There was a bit of a wait, but the food was well worth it. Our waiter Anya was very good also!

Visiting Fernie from Scotland and had dinner at the Curry Bowl, despite the unassuming exterior there's a lot of atmosphere packed inside with really friendly staff. The menu is a fun mix of Thai and Vietnamese classics some with a Fernie twist. I had the samosas and the pork belly donburi and my dining partner had the mussels and the duck pho. Portion sizes were really generous for the price and the food was all cooked well and full of flavour, the pork belly in particular was amazing. Really recommend if you're in Fernie and looking to get a good meal for a good price.

The kitchen staff were short so it took a minute to get the food but the flavours were very worth it! You could tell the waitresses were also doing their best to keep everything flowing. We had tofu with our dishes and it was nicely battered, slightly crunchy. The starters we had were the curry lentil dip and the Indonesia tofu. Both were so good! We ended up getting an extra bit of nan to finish the dip and the peanut dip for the tofu was insanely good! The mains were the veggie donburi, which was so good. The roasted veggies made it. The second dish was Pad Thai (sort of an assemble your own). I’ve had many Pad Thai dishes and this is as good as any. One big thing for me is they give you a larger tofu portion with all meals vs all other restaurants! Pricing is fair and we can’t wait to come back for more! Ps. Sit on the rooftop deck

We’ve been coming to the Curry bowl for years. Food has always been good. Tonight our meal was exceptional. World class flavour. Each dish has something unique and special to appreciate. If you’ve never been or not for awhile, go! Also we had a celiac with us and they cleaned the kitchen before they cooked our meal to make it safe for her.

Food was incredible, cocktails very tasty, prices reasonable, and rooftop patio great spot. Gluten free perfect and good cross contamination and knowledge of menu

Love The Curry Bowl. I look forward to coming to Fernie for work from Vancouver just to get some Curry Bowl. Best curry fusion restaurant I’ve eaten at with great friendly staff. Kim, Lucy, Emily and the gang always have the best recommendations and service! Also when the weathers nice the rooftop is an amazing place to watch the sun set over the hills.

Great service, even better food. Gorgeous view on the patio and had an awesome cocktail and dinner with my sister.

Google
Really impressed with my take out tonight. They had goat curry with meat from a local ranch (awesome!). I asked if it came with veggies and they said they could add a side for me... I think they charged me all of $4 for this very generous veggie add on. Tasty and friendly :)

Yelp
Really enjoyed the food. Service was good. Took a bit to get our food though. We showed up with a bunch of kids and they were very accommodating. $115 to feed our family of 7 so pretty reasonable.

Yelp
tl;dr version STAY AWAY - horrible food and customer service I want to first say I left a message and have tried to contact this business several times before I left my review. In hopes they would call me back to try to make this right. I believe businesses should want to hear feedback so they can improve as I would think a restaurant would take pride in service and their food. However, they do not answer their phone or return messages left. I made an order at 4:15pm online (because they do not answer their phones) for pickup at 5:15pm last Friday October 7. I made this order as we were at hockey and I did not want to cook that evening. I ordered two pad thai's, ginger beef and green curry. Note this order was $99.60 in total. I dont know about you but this is on the expensive side so I thought being charged this much would mean the food was excellent (we also heard it was good from people who I will now never take any of their restaurant recommendations). I paid for the order via their web service (honestly I should have said we would pay when we got there because I would have said forget my order, *hindsight*) My husband got there to pick up the order and was told they didn't have it. They looked at their computer and said oh jeez none of our online orders were printing *sigh* (hint for businesses, if you usually are busy/receive online orders check it). I received email confirmation and they should have too. If it wasn't working you'd think I wouldn't have even got email confirmation. This also could have been an excuse but I'll give them the benefit of doubt on this one. There were also several other people who were waiting as well since the same thing happened to them. Rushing to make food = bad food; which may have been a contributing factor but this is how business is lost (hopefully the owners are actually reading this; **pro tip on good business practice** - refund customers and give them a gift card for a meal properly prepared in the future or give them options on what may be the quickest to make without sacrificing quality). I tried calling the restaurant several times when my husband was told this. Each time it didnt ring it just went to voicemail, not even saying curry bowl, just leave a message. I did, thinking I would get a call back. After my husband waited 30 minutes for them to make the order he got the food. Mind you I already had my three kids and brought them home, they were all starving and I had to make dinner for them. Which really defeated the purpose of take away. When he got home, we tasted the food. It was horrible. Not even mall food level. Honestly not even at the level of the dehydrated camping food you just add water to. The pad thai, had no sauce. Literally bare without any flavour. The ginger beef was slightly better with sauce but it had some weird fried old ice cream cone things on it, for decoration, I assume. 100% inedible. The curry was flavourless and the pumpkin wasn't even cooked. This was our $100 meal. Horrible. Our dogs wouldn't even touch it. I cannot urge you enough to avoid this place at all costs, life is too short to waste money on disgusting food. Unless you like wasting money, if so by all means go here. If you decide to go here expect you will get ghosted if you have a bad experience. Lucky for this place there are a lot of new people moving here and tourists so they can have people that will give this place a try even with horrible reviews. In short if you want thai food and cant make it yourself; go to the freezer section of the grocery store and pick some up. It will taste better. Photos are from the pad thai (too this before I tasted it but you can see there is no sauce at all on it), the second one with the pink thing is the ginger beef the pink thing is not edible I have no clue what is it basically Styrofoam texture, then the uncooked pumpkin/squash from the curry and the last one is a close up of the weird garnish from the ginger beef.

Yelp
We were excited to come for dinner, we hadn't been to the curry bowl in years. We were the first customers at 5pm, our server disappeared on us, the other servers came to our table but were visibly annoyed. Our meal took almost 90 minutes, while other tables had received food. the server missed a meal completely, obviously didn't punch it in, the meal was thrown together missing main ingredients. The food was good, but not what it used to be. The service was very disappointing, it made our group feel unwelcome.

Yelp
Sadly disappointed! We have eaten here on multiple trips through Fernie. This time we had spring rolls and summer rolls. The Thai basil is too over powering in the summer rolls. Only three small spring rolls and they weren't that great either. These took about 20+ mins to be served. After an hour waiting for simple meals that normally come out quickly, the server came over it would be soon. Clearly they forgot our meal as other tables after us got their meals. I can overlook a mistake if the food is worth the wait. Unfortunately, only one meal got eaten. We ordered a Vietnamese Noodle Bowl with pork (again the pork was laced in Thai basil), the Pad Thai lacked overall flavour, the Nasi Goreng was good. I wished we ordered three of those. Instead we went back to our condo at 8:30 and had toast for supper. I am truly disappointed as our previous experiences were so good.

Yelp
Food was delicious, but the take-out experience was odd. We were expecting plates and bowls and got a box and plastic fork. But that mango curry is worthy!

Dale M.

Yelp
Usually a nice option, called and went to answering machine saying to order online and that they were open. Ordered online went to pick up the order and the restaurant was closed. Have yet to see any money back from them. Will not order with them again after this being a constant issue of them not being open when the website/ answering machine is stating they are open.

Yelp
We stopped here after another place had too long of a wait. It was worth it. The staff was excellent and the food was very good. I had the butter chicken and it was so good, and go for the extra naan, it went great with the dinner.

Yelp
Heard lots of great things, but unfortunately we were disappointed at every turn. We arrived at 6:20pm on a Wednesday and were told it would be "35 minutes to an hour" for a table. It was raining outside, and the only place for a brief reprieve is a small upstairs lounge which reminded me of a friend's dingy hangout spot in his old university rental. The upstairs was jam packed, so it took us nearly 1 hour to be seated in the waiting lounge. By the time we sat at our table, 1 hour 20 minutes had passed. We ordered immediately upon being seated and were told that entrees would take 25 minutes but appetizers would come out sooner. We were not at all surprised when it took 10 minutes for drinks/appetizers and 40 minutes for entires to arrive. And after all this, we both found the food to be lackluster. Papadams (light, crispy chickpea chips) with mango sauce were quite good. However, we both had the "spicy chickpea curry," the only dish described as spicy on the menu. Spice level was mild at best, but vegetables were cooked well and we were hungry so things could have been worse. I have lived in ski towns and understand that this is the busy season (Alberta Family Week), but staff was not well adept at handling the business. Everyone was nice, but we came for great food and great times, not excuses. Tidbits from staff that were either spoken directly to us or overhead at other tables included: - "We are only busy like 2 months out of the year, so sorry." - "I hope it was worth the wait." - "You can sit in the upstairs lounge and order a drink while you wait (not true for all persons we saw seated in the lounge, however some folks appeared to be served)." Altogether, our experience at the Curry Bowl from putting our name on the list to walking out spanned 2 1/2 hours. Don't know the next time I'll be back in Fernie, but I'll definitely be trying someplace else for dinner.

Yelp
There's A little something for everyone here. Whether you're craving a simple butter chicken, or a thai curry, or a Vietnamese pho, this place will cure what ever craving you have. The roof top patio is amazing, and so is the service!!

Yelp
I had the spicy chickpea curry, as I am a fan of Channa masala and similar chickpea dishes. I was not disappointed. Healthy portions, very tasty, and a good beer selection. I would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
All of the food that we got was so yummy! The drinks were unique and delicious as well. We went to the Curry Bowl on a recommendation from a friend who goes there every time they are in Fernie and it did not disappoint. The service was also fantastic. Will definitely be going back.

Yelp
First, the good: Large portions of fresh food, tasty. Not that cheap, at least anymore, but not expensive either, and a good value for the quality you get. They have a huge selection of beer and friendly waitstaff. I have only two reasons to dock the fifth star. 1: Not authentic Asian food. It's good, but not authentic. I ordered naan, and it came without any sauces on the side. It was the best plain naan I've ever tasted, though. 2: The highest possible heat level barely registered on my radar. I doubt there are many southeast Asians in Fernie - I haven't seen any - or else a more authentic place might open, and certainly with more heat. But it's definitely worth a stop if you're here.

Yelp
Incredibly good value. Named after the local ski bowl but it is a curry house. Not a huge menu but very good... and so cheap. Wide selection of beers. Note that they don't take reservations so get there early or be prepared to wait.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on the way through Fernie. Great spot - would definitely come here again next time I'm in Fernie. I had the green curry and my partner had the pad Thai. Both were phenomenal! They also have a pretty good selection of beer. Service was fabulous.

Yelp
Excellent! Was totally not expecting food this good here. Tiny (10 tables), friendly, and everything was delicious. Perfect hint-of-coconut hot&sour soup, and the panang curry was excellent and full-flavored. The house-made chai tea was excellent. Ambience was nothing special, and the wait times are long, but who cares?

Taya C.

Yelp
Big disappointment! The food wasn't very authentic! It's a long wait. The service wasn't very good! All the reviews were very good, but I found that the food wasn't good quality. For how expensive the prices were, I expected more. It wasn't worth the hype.

Yelp
Favorite place in Fernie to eat! Recommend Bombay Chicken and Green Coconut Curry. Love the deck in the summer.

Yelp
I don't get to go here very often because my spouse is allergic to curry. Therefore, it is an extra treat when I get to go! The extensive beer menu is lots of fun, especially when you're trying to remember which ones you've tried before. It's either a sign of age or of alcoholism (hmm, that makes for two AAs), but I'm starting to know most of the ones on the list. The Curry Bowl menu includes curries from several different regions, including (delicious) Thai curries. The prices are quite reasonable and the food is good. It is located in a little old house on 7th, so seating can be limited and it might be described as quaint. The big patio upstairs is fantastic in the summertime, though.

Yelp
What a neat find in Fernie. It is in a house with nice decor. The place is always packed so you have to wait. I was there in January. They have an excellent selection of world beers which we ordered while we waited. The curry's were very good and good value. Don't tell anyone!

Yelp
We visited the Curry Bowl on a Friday night so weren't surprised by the wait list. We waited up stairs and were able to order a drink. We thought the wait would be about 30 minutes, it was more than an hour. Still a-okay given it was a busy night. Once seated our order was taken but once again we had to wait. Awhile. Not sure why there was such a delay for our food to arrive. It did after about 30+ minutes. Once it arrived, we devoured it very quickly. The dishes were delish, the sauces were full of flavour and just the right amount of spice. I thought the protein serving was small but maybe that was because I was ready to eat my own arm off. I would recommend this place to others but warn that you must be patient.

Yelp
This restaurant is a blast of fresh aroma that exceeded my expectations. Looking almost like a regular home with a sign on it, first thing I noticed upon entering was the smells of delicious dishes. This alone heightened my appetite (which is off as curry is an appetite suppressant). Going to this restaurant with a date who had already been there, I got to try all sorts of interesting dishes that I did not even know existed. The Vetnamese coffee was also quite delicious. The portions were very appropriate and one can feel full without overeating with these meals. The cost isn't bad considering the meal and experience and quality that one can get while eating there. The service is very good and the waitresses were friendly. The Ambiance was also great as this restaurant has lots of nice decoration. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to send their taste buds on an exciting journey.

Yelp
Tasty food for a great price! It has quaint decor and fun/tiny waiting area upstairs, at least it was entertaining to me. Great selection of vegetarian dishes. Hit the spot after a day of riding.

Yelp
Enjoyed the Thai green curry. Nan was okay...seemed to be from a grocery store. Been a couple years since I e been back.

Yelp
The place is nice, small and cosy but luck was not on my side when I selected madras as my dinner there - I hope it was the only time when madras was not good there but I got something that is very different from what I usually get at the Indian restaurant. A bit dissappoited since other reviews were so good.

Lily H.

Yelp
I was visiting Fernie in January for the slopes. I am from So Cal where ethnic foods are authentic. I am aware that I will not get very authentic Indian Curry in Fernie but based on the Yelp reviews, I thought that it should be pretty good. I ordered the Bombay Curry. It was really BAD. The dish was just under $15. I basically got watery bland sauce with about 2 oz of chicken and roughly 5 cashews over rice. I have two regrets. Choosing this restaurant for dinner. And, not returning the dish after it was served.

David A.

Yelp
Love this place. Decent selection of imported beers. Fantastic food.

Joshua W.

Yelp
I was really not looking forward to a work trip to a place so remote, and part of the reason is it is usually hard to get good food. The Curry Bowl is awesome. The food was fantastic, the wait staff was great and sitting on the deck upstairs with mountain views made it all seem special. I'll come here at least twice every time I come to town.

Yelp
wow!! everything was great. presentation, food & the server Sarah had such an awesome personality that had everyone in the restaurant tonight leaving happy! this is my first review ever but I wanted to make sure this experience gets passed! thanks curry bowl!
