LA’s New Restaurant Openings - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Curry Boys is serving its “express Indian food” at its new location in DTLA. Anyone in the neighborhood can walk in for a quick Indian combo plate with a choice of daal, chicken tikka, and aloo matar (to name a few). Biryani and tandoori options round out the menu. " - Sylvio Martins

Walked in for a bowl of Chicken Tikka Masala on a Saturday night. The chicken was tender enough to cut with my cheap plastic spoon and the rice was fresh. $8.99 + tax. Doesn’t come with naan. Not used to peas in it but it was good. Would’ve loved cilantro or offered water when dining in. Was only there for 5 minutes. Would’ve been nice if the food had labels or if the menu had pictures. Was interested in hearing about the “Indian Street Food” but an explanation of each item with no visuals while you’re hungry is ineffective. Cool use of space with seating. Table was sticky. The sun was going down so the lights weren’t on but it looked cool walking by in the past. Will come back…if I can find parking.

If you are in LA, looking for an authentic indian food, a cozy spot and a welcoming vibe.. bingo! You need to be at Curry boys. The food was amazing and that quantity in that price range.. Very reasonable! We happened to meet the owners and they were very welcoming and also happened to share that these are their personal receipes no wonder its good because of that personal touch. I also liked the concept of Express indian food where in combos we gottu try multiple curries without ordering bigger portions which in turn is more Money. Also it saves alot on wait time. We ate chicken curry, Chicken tikka masala, dal makhni and samsosa chaat.. loved everything and yes! Garlic naan so soft .. to die for!!

This is a very cute little place in downtown Los Angeles that they're serving Indian food. The inside decor was pretty relaxed and cool. I think they have put some authentic stuff to showcase the vibe of India. The food was okay I got buffet with two Curry and naan and rice. The food was okay. The price I think was slightly higher than the quality of food that they were serving but then again I've been doing the buffet time.

Google
I ordered food to-go from Curry Boys and was really impressed! The portions were generous and well-packaged, making it easy to take home without any spills. The curries were rich, flavorful, and had the perfect balance of spices—comforting but still bold. The rice was fluffy and paired perfectly with the sauces. What I loved most was the quality for the price—at around $12.99, it felt like a great deal for such hearty and delicious food. The service was also quick and friendly, which made the whole experience smooth. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to whenever I’m craving Indian comfort food in downtown LA. Highly recommend giving it a try!

Google
I ordered from Cury Boys DTLA for the first time through uber eats. When my food arrived it was missing an entire dinner item. I called the store directly and spoke with the owner who told me she packed it herself and that the delivery driver must have stolen it. She wouldn’t replace the item, which caused me not to have enough food to even feed my family. She told me the best she could do was to give me that item for free the next time I ordered! For free?? I already paid for it so it’s hardly free!! Also the food was awful!!!! I would never order from this restaurant again. This is probably the worst Indian food I’ve had in LA! The chicken tiki masala had absolutely ZERO flavor, the korma was super salty and also lacked flavor and the pepper chicken was missing all together so can’t tell you about that one. I honestly think the restaurant is lying about the delivery driver stealing the item, she told me it was all in one bag and I did receive one bag but there was absolutely NO WAY anything else could have fit in this bag! I won’t be back. If you’re looking for good Indian food in DTLA Mr Masala has MUCH BETTER food! Stay clear of this place. I won’t even go back for the free item that o already paid for!

Google
2 for 1 deal on uber, wrapped well, nice portions, so generous (thank you for the sides of rice!) and good spice flavor to all the dishes ordered

Google
The man there is exceptionally great at customer service. He Offered samples before I made my selections, and the taste was simple, just like home-cooked. I was almost the last customer; he made sure I left fully satisfied. While the garlic naan was a bit thick, I gulped the entire meal box satisfying. The atmosphere was simple, not too loud, and the food spoke volumes. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. Also, do not worry about the timings. He is almost open for another 35-40 mins after 10 Pm. I've seen him taking in more customers after me.The outside street didn't feel safe; that's the only thing that bothered me to walk to the restaurant from my hotel.

Justin Bell

Google
Gross taste like leftovers with no season, the black pepper chicken only has like 4 pieces of chicken the sauce taste like it was mixed with sink water, the atmosphere was just off

Yelp
Got food to go here and it did not disappoint! The chicken tandoori was juicy and fresh - plus the sauce with onions were so good with the rice! I also got the tikka masala which was also very good and had lots of piece of chicken. Everyone was also very friendly; my order was taking a little longer than expected but they kept checking on me and reassuring me that my order was being prepared. There's also plenty of seating inside the only thing is that parking might be an issue but I think the food is worth the hassle!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place since it was near the hotel I was staying at. Happy to say this place is good and I hope to come back when I'm in the area! The owner was really nice - let me sample some of the options. The flavor on everything was great and everything had a nice kick to it. Opted for a 2 item box with naan on the side and it did not disappoint. I can't remember what exactly I had - I just remember really enjoying the food and flavors. Pricing was great too for what you get. A nice hearty meal - would definitely recommend giving this place a shot if you're in the area.

Yelp
The lack of reviews and just the overall look in genuinely didn't really captivate me but holy shit was this place good! Loved everything we got which was indeed very basic but still: chicken masala, chicken tandoori, rice, garlic pita bread. Delicious 10/10 great portions and taste

Yelp
The food looked like vomit. The chaat I got looked nothing like the photo on their UberEats page. It's literally thin yogurt and some balls swimming in it, not appetizing at all. The taste was plain, too. There were no toppings like cilantro or sev and they did not give enough chutney. I also go the biryani and cheese naan and they were okay. The carrot halwa was an off red color. I don't understand the high ratings. It wasn't even that cheap.

Yelp
Curry Boys is a solid restaurant to get quick Indian food near the corner of S. Spring St. and 5th St. We took the B Line to Pershing Square Station, which has an exit on S. Hill St. and 5th St. It was a short walk since the restaurant was only two blocks down. I do recommend walking with a buddy if you don't feel comfortable walking by yourself in Downtown, especially on 5th St. To order, you tell the cashier which item(s) you want at the front. They have different à la carte dishes, but they didn't label them. The restaurant charged a grand total of $14.32 for a one-item combo with plain naan bread. I got the chicken curry, which was nicely braised, flavorful, and moderately spicy. It met my threshold in terms of spice level. I regret not getting the garlic naan bread, which cost an extra $1. The plain naan bread had an adequate texture but needed that extra flavor. After we ordered, we waited until they brought the food to our table. There wasn't enough chicken curry at the front, so they had to prepare more before giving me my food. The ambience of the restaurant was fine for counter service food. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this part of Downtown had convenient Indian food.

Yelp
First time stopping in after touring a wedding venue next door. Surprised how wonderfully delicious the food is here!

Yelp
Curry Boys is a casual Indian spot in DTLA with a decent amount of seating. I ordered a two entree plate which came with both fresh naan and basmati rice. Overall, I liked my food but wished that there was more chicken and paneer in each of my entrees as it was mostly curry. I really liked the texture of their naan because it was slightly chewier than other spots and had a similar texture to a scallion pancake. What I liked about this spot the most was how friendly the man helping me was and it appeared that he knew several of the customers, which I can see being a major perk if you're a regular/adds a community feeling.

Yelp
I was really sad after my previous favorite indian spot moved to pasadena and struggled to find a place I liked as much... Then I found CURRY BOYS! I do Uber Eats and Doordash deliveries and got this pickup location once and quickly came back to try it out. I cant speak on any of the chicken/meat curries but the daal is to die for along with all the other veggie curries. Fast, affordable, delicious. Plus the manager/owner guy is always so nice and welcoming. I remember when I first started coming here he would let me try the curries to help decide what I wanted/liked. Really happy this place exists. Thank you always !

Yelp
Scrumptious! super sketch neighborhood, but once you get over your fear of being stabbed or peed on, the food is bomb, with an intense flavor profile. Nice gregarious fella greets as I walked in and lamb curry, black pepper chicken, green beans and potatoes, rice, garlic naan, all for $21 after tax and tip.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered food for take out. Tandoori chicken was pretty bland. Palak paneer was average as well. Ambience is typical with TV playing glaring music. Better options in the neighborhood if you look around.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was bombay all the way!!! Stumble on it for lunch one day to try them out. Ordered the chicken tiki masala and garlic naan! This place is my new fav Indian spot! It is mos def recommended! I'll be bak!

Yelp
Delicious indian curry in the middle of downtown. They have spicy curry which we never got the name and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken tikka masala was just ok. Their masala fries were also just ok. If you like spicy food, ask them about it. They allow you to sample any of their dishes before committing. This place has a decent amount of seating but I believe most people pick up to go. It's not a sit down restaurant, you go up to the counter (like panda express) and the food is displayed for you to choose from. Overall, it's definitely a great deal if you're looking for a cheap good meal.

Jasmine G.

Yelp
The food is always absolutely delicious every time I come. Highly recommend if you want an authentic Indian meal
google avatar

Yelp
Great service, big personalities. Great food y'all! The Paneer tikka masala was delicious and fresh! The restaurant has a nice laid back chill vibe. The meat or paneer could have more in it, it's got a lot of wonderful gravy though
google avatar

Yelp
Taste is absolutely great ! Left place with a smile and a full belly ! Definitely a must !

Yelp
Recently, we tried their new desserts and they were delicious - especially since it's been so hot outside lately!

Yelp
My rather large son sure likes his hindi-slop! The kind employees were very willing to cook up 8 chicken tiki my salsas for my pig of a son, sweet! They even play some classic Indian hits, reminds me of my home country! The interior is up to par. My wife was disappointed that they didn't play her favorite song (Mundian To Bach Ke), but she says the food makes up for it! Classic wife, LOL! Carrot, OUT!

Yelp
Indian Curry take-out. You will get what you expect you'd get. Exchange your typical Hong Kong Express to Banaglore Express and you got yourself some delicious quick to be made curry. you're paying 15.99 for rice and to sets of curry for a quick meal that you're taking out. Can't say its the healthiest but quick and hits the spot

Yelp
Since gaining some edible knowledge from the many visits to kamal palace in Long Beach. I assumed that Curry Boys in Downtown Los Angeles would offer the same Indian cuisines that I've become accustomed to and are my straight go to choices. Although not like the other place I mentioned, Curry Boys is a nice little spot to eat at if you ever have a hankering for Indian cuisines. The selection isn't huge, it's not like a buffet or anything like that but there are several choices to choose from. As always my go to's are the lamb and chicken. Both were very favorable and had the right amount of spice to not overwhelm you. My brother also had the same, oh and naan bread, holy crap was that ever d-e-l-I-c-I-o-u-s. With just enough garlic seasoning to bring out its yumminess and reminding us all on why we love it. The seating area inside is open and spacious. The interiors coloring is very appealing and it's not overwhelmed with pictures or anything like that which at times can take away its look. If you live in the area they do offer delivery I believe, I'm just not sure of how far they deliver to. And the real treat is the Curry Boys is right around the corner from The last American bookstore and the farmers market on fifth street which is on Sundays I believe. There is no dedicated park g lot for Curry Boys but there is a parking structure that's caddy corner to it. Overall I enjoyed Curry boys and will be back again in the future. It's a nice little establishment in downtown Los Angeles in an area that looks to be on the rise. Oh I almost forgot there is a menu of other food items as-well and since I totally spaced on ordering gulab jamun (Indian milk doughnuts)) so if you ever find yourself heading into Curry Boys, please don't forget to get yourself an order of those tasty little treats z you won't be disappointed And finally Curry Boys is small staffed and everyone that I encountered were all amazing so I'm pretty sure you won't get any attitude here and if you do get attitude maybe you should take a look in the mirror and what the hell did you do. This is my own personal review of Curry Boys. Just because I had a great experience doesn't mean you'll have the same. All experiences will vary from patron to patron. So enjoy yourself.

Yelp
This is a good place for Indian food when you don't want full service and paying high prices. The cashier was very nice and patient while one of us picked out veggie options and I went with my favorite Chicken Tikka Masala with garlic naan. I love the colorful murals on the wall which add a nice bright touch to the interior.
google avatar

Joshua G.

Yelp
The paneer tikka curry is goood! I'm not an experienced eater of Indian food but I've had my fair share and I can't say what I had today was anything less than delicious. :) Nice person helped me too!

Yelp
We were killing time in LA before a concert and passed this restaurant on our way to somewhere else. We had to step inside, it smelled too good to resist! We were greeted warmly, served quickly, and enjoyed the atmosphere at the restaurant. The paintings, music, and dancing were beautiful. We ordered the chicken Tikka BBQ to try something new, and of course naan. It was DELICIOUS. The food was spicy, but in only good ways. The chicken was so tender, and was served alongside onions in the same sauce. It is about half onion and half chicken, so do be aware of that when ordering. Took the attached picture as well, cause we were a little surprised!
google avatar

Arden P.

Yelp
Got the two item combo-with the lamb curry and the chicken tikka masala! We got the garlic naan upgrade which costed a little more (but was so worth it-it came out fresh and hot!). It came with rice with peas mixed in it (my friend did not get any peas though, so I shared with him). The service was great, the area surrounding it though is definitely sketch-bring a friend or two (preferably male) if you're a female! There's a homeless crisis in downtown atm-we kept hearing glass shattering behind us as we walked haha.

Yelp
It was lunch time and I have nothing packed, the tummy was grumbling and all I had that morning was a protein bar. I heard some people in our office talking about great Indian food so that kind of perked my interest... Indian Food it is! I have had some pretty good luck ordering some delicious Indian Food through Uber Eats but this time through the power of my handy dandy yelp app, I scrolled and read reviews prior to ordering. Curry Boys seems to have quite a following, not to mention awesome reviews! So for my lunch, I ordered; The Garlic Naan, Chicken Clove ( a curry boys exclusive apparently) and an order of chicken samosa which I took home to share with Pops! The Chicken Clove was cooked to perfection and delicious! I love the perfect balance of flavors even with a spice as potent as clove! The golden amber sauce was so yummy and delicious especially drizzled on top of the Basmati Rice that came with it, I absolutely enjoyed it! The Garlic Naan was also a hit! Baked/Toasted to perfection with just the right amount of "garlic-ness" not strong enough to scare Dracula or the person right next to you with garlic breath but good enough to enjoy the lovely flavor of garlic on a nicely toasted naan! it was fantastic! Overall, I was pretty satisfied with my first order from the Curry boys, and for sure this won't be the last! Cheers!

Yelp
Very yummy food and they're so accommodating. Amazing people! Very thoughtful and sweet staff.

Brenden O.

Yelp
Went in not expecting much but was honestly blown away. The place is modern and clean and staff was very nice, but the quality and prices set it apart. Got a 3 Item Combo with Chicken Curry, Chicken Clove, Chicken Tikka Masala that came with rice and naan for $16! And it was super fresh and tasted amazing, thought I would have leftovers but was too good not to eat fresh! Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Monique P.

Yelp
Bless your heart Curry Boys. I work downtown, and this is my go to when I need some lunch. My husband doesn't like Indian so I go here to get my fix. I usually order the tikka masala, chicken korma, or black pepper chicken. Today I finally decided to treat myself and try the lamb curry (extra $4) and it was delicious with tender meat. I have not tasted anything I didn't like here. As long as the flavor and prices stay the same I'll keep ordering from here.
google avatar

Manpreet B.

Yelp
Los angeles never disappoints with low quality indian food. Things ordered - tikka masala, paneer pakoda, kulche cholle...and best part was... side onions! Rest everything was so so so substandard! Wont order again!
google avatar

Karina O.

Yelp
This was my first time trying this place out and the food was delicious. I ordered Chicken tikka marsala with rice and naan bread. No wait time since it is express Indian food but everything tasted fresh and was at the right temperature. I'm looking forward to try something else next time.
google avatar

Joseph C.

Yelp
Great spot to visit. The food is consistent and cheap, the service is excellent, and the restaurant offers a very casual vibe. They're definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
Curry Boys is a hidden gem in DTLA! The moment you walk in, you smell the aroma of all the curry being served. They have multiple combo plates, which is perfect so you can try as many entrees as possible. I got the chicken tikka masala, goat curry, and garlic naan. All were delicious! I also tried the black pepper chicken which I will be getting a full serving of next time! I'd love to come by again and try everything!!! I definitely see myself coming here regularly (which I hear a lot of my friends have been doing.)

Chin W.

Yelp
I definitely recommend. Portions are good. Staff is great, they will happily allow you to taste and guide you. Food is very good. I think I will walk over and grab some tonight as a matter of fact.

Diana N.

Yelp
I've always seen the place whenever I walk by and I just tried it recently. I wish I would've gone sooner, because this has definitely become my new go to Indian restaurant. When I first walked in, it was empty, except for the two gentlemen behind the counter. The music in the place really added to the experience, and the customer service was great! I got a 2 item bowl, with rice, lamb curry, and their chicken tikka masala. It comes with your choice of naan. I ended up getting the Garlic naan, and added on two veggie samosas. I want to start of by saying that the place was empty when I walked in, and I have no idea why! The service was quick and pleasant, and the food was amazing! The star of the show was definitely the lamb curry- spicy, flavorful, and the lamb was so tender. Next came the chicken tikka masala, which never disappoints but their chicken was also super tender and the sauce was amazing. (The garlic naan came in super handy in getting all the sauce!) The veggie samosas were a delight! Overall, the experience was great, the food was delectable, and I will definitely be going back again!
google avatar

Matthew R.

Yelp
Really delightful service, I loved the black pepper chicken and the clove curry was delicious and unique. The naan was absolutely perfect, I'm excited to order from Curry Boys again
google avatar

Mary G.

Yelp
The lunch special is prefect and small portions are best to taste a little bit of every thing and make sure you get the simosas. Best Indian food so far
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
We had walked by this place before but didn't think much of it. On our way to Grand Central Market, saw a bunch of our coworkers had gone there so we popped in. They raved about the food, so we came back! We got to sample a few items - I tried the Pepper Chicken which was amazing! I also got the Chicken Tikka Masala with Garlic Naan. My coworker and I were tempted to try the Masala fries but knew we'd be in for it if we did, so we said we'd come back for it. We were going to bring our food back to our desk but it smelled so good. We ate it there and it was pretty tasty. The Pepper Chicken was very flavorful and delicious. The chicken tikka was good but just okay, compared to the pepper chicken. My coworker got the lentils and the channa masala. She loved the lentils and felt similar to the masala as I did. Naan was on point and the rice was tasty. Overall a very fulfilling lunch at a great price! The owner was super nice and really showed how much he care for the business and what he put forth! Definitely coming back!!
google avatar

Penny S.

Yelp
Great value and good food. Where else can you order a two-item combo with lamb spinach, chicken korma, rice, and regular naan for about $14 in downtown LA? The curries were medium spicy with good flavors. The lamb pieces were chunky, but I would've liked it more had it also been tender. The korma wasn't as creamy as I typically like, but it still was tasty. Not my favorite Indian spot, but I would go back to try more entrees.
google avatar

Breanna N.

Yelp
Warm and comforting meal! Had the butter chicken and lamb curry with garlic naan. Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Irwin C.

Yelp
Food was amazing, the place was great too. I love the people and their energy. The service was the great! The location is perfect if you are in the area. You need to go
google avatar

Izzy W.

Yelp
One of the best places to eat in DTLA. The price is right, and the food is to die for. The workers are incredibly warm and inviting. You have to get the naan, mango lassi, and Chana masala. This place is our new local favorite. A must try (and must return)!

Swapnil A.

Yelp
Amazing food. Great service Nice location great to hang out with friends . Recommend
google avatar

Meredith S.

Yelp
This place was downright perfect. Since I like everything, I asked the owner, Dream, to select three dishes for me. She chose chicken korma, matar paneer, and potatoes and peas. They were all an A+, and the garlic naan is a must. I also had a milkshake (begins with an F, is similar to rose water flavor) and it threw it over the edge. It's a super cute, clean, and homey ambiance, and was super fast. I am back in town for a few days and it's the first place I'm going for dinner.
google avatar

Kathleen B.

Yelp
They have the most amazing food choices, the vegan food options are really good too and I'm not even vegan lol. I highly recommend recommend. The mango lassi also hits too ! Highly suggest!
google avatar

Lynn T.

Yelp
The food was so good I didn't have time to take a pic! My whole family enjoyed our meals. Even the 7yo liked the Lamb. 10/10 for us.
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
Samosa and Chai combo for $5.99. Will go back to try the whole menu asap. The people were friendly and I love the vibe here it is a cool aesthetic.

Vanya W.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE THIS place! The food is amazing, the people who work here are super friendly and knowledgeable. They let me sample the curry sauces before i made my choice, and walked me through the spice levels to find one that i was able to handle. If you are looking for great tasting food do yourself a favor and stop by if you are in the downtown la area.
google avatar

Pharaoh M.

Yelp
Ordered on DoorDash. Within minutes they called to let us know they are out of an item and quickly suggested other popular items. I'm not a fan of Indian food UNTIL TODAY. My girlfriend was craving it and we made the order. I'm honestly not sure what we got but it was full of flavor. We were full shortly after. Definitely recommend. We will order again. She, along with these amazing flavors have changed my mind. 10 stars. The naan bread was fluffy and fresh. Please please please do yourself a favor and try this place. So many restaurants in Los Angeles that should not even exist, this one however, should have multiple locations.
google avatar

Yuliia K.

Yelp
Very glad this place opened in my area! When we first came in they offered us a ton of free samples to try all of their curries, which was super nice! And all of them were so delicious! Our favorite is Chicken Tikka Masala and Pepper chicken. Will keep coming back because of delicious food, good price and great service :)
