The Best Indian Restaurants Around Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Curry Corner’s comfortable, near-downtown Minneapolis dining room is thoroughly modern and sleek, and its menu is a happy cross-over between depth of flavor and current trends. It offers a thoughtful cocktail menu (the Blurry Curry, with its blend of coconut rum, cream of coconut, curry spices, and simple syrup is a revelation). The spicy ferocity of its beef josh is enchantingly good. For fruit and nut-laden Peshawari naan, Curry Corner does some of the best in town." - James Norton

We stumbled upon this place while walking around and had to try it even though we weren’t really “hungry” since I’ve seen it a few times on social media. We sat on the street patio and were greeted quickly by our friendly server who checked on us often. We tried the panipuri, little shells filled with potatoes, chick peas and spices that you pour a herb flavored water into and pop into your mouth. I wasn’t ready for the explosion in my mouth 😂 but I really enjoyed them. We also tried the lamb Samosas, they were served with a delicious green sauce that enhanced the delicious treat. A pomegranate gin fizz was the perfect drink to go with both. We’ll be back with a bigger appetite another time so we can try more.

If you’re looking for North Indian cuisine in Minneapolis- it’s your spot ! Amazing North Indian Punjabi flavours in food ! We had chicken josh , Amritsari kulcha ( MUST !! Had a good one in super long time) , tandoori roti was so good - authentic! Loved the vibe , they had outdoor patio and you can find plenty outdoor parking !

Google
Great food and very kind staff, I spilled my entire mango lassi on my lap on accident and they were very kind and helped clean the mess and brought me a new mango lassi for free. The food was hot, seasoned and delicious and busy with people. So I would recommend eating here and I would not recommend spilling all your mango lassi on your lap. We ordered the veggie samosas, honey chili potato’s, dal soup, Saam with naan, and chicken tikki masala with naan and basmati rice, and there was not a single thing that was not delicious will be my new go to Indian restaurant.

Google
Service was weird, but otherwise this is without a doubt the BEST INDIAN FOOD in the Metro. Holy cow. Everything was perfect. The roti was great and the naan is STUFFED. You can tell what the filling is and it is life changing. The vindaloo is balanced and perfectly vinegary. And everything is crazy reasonable priced. I honestly may go back tomorrow you have to go

Google
Absolutely phenomenal Indian food. I took my son here for lunch and we both absolutely love this place. The lamb samosa had great flavor combined with a nice crunchy crust. The daal soup we ordered had a fabulous flavor. It tasted like the lentils had been cooked for hours, which true daal is cooked for hours. My son ordered chicken Josh while I ordered the chicken mango curry. Both entrees had tender chicken in a flavorful sauce. Absolutely stunning. We will definitely be coming back to this restaurant.

Google
Holy Batman! We ordered a wide variety and each dish was in competition with the one before. Delicious drinks and outstanding service lands this in your top 10 go to, whether your siting down or grabbing it to go. Advice: order everything on the Street Food menu! We were so excited to eat we forgot to take photos, shamelessly.

Google
Pretty good mango lassi, nothing special but what you expect. Sizable samosas, well seasoned but not much of a kick as I was expecting. The filling is mostly mashed consistency. The two accompanying sauces are very good. Both lamb tikka masala and chicken briyani were really good at minnesota hot spice level. Tikka is a bit sweeter than expected. Garlic naan is a bit cold and dry, not much garlic flavor.

Google
Enjoyed our evening at Curry Corner. The vibe was good, the staff was attentive, and the food was yummy! They had a good local beer list and it’s in a great location. The reason for my 4/5 rating was that I thought the price was a little high and I was expecting a little more flavor from the Lamb Somosa and Chicken Tikka Masala. Overall a good experience, especially for a mid-week comfort food outing.

Yelp
We visited after seeing the Curry Corner pop up on social media a few times. The flavors packed a punch! Bold flavors with spice (which we loved). Between the two of us adults, we had a full meal as well as leftovers of the entrees. The Honey Chili Potato was a sweet and spicy sauce over fries and vegetables. The Chicken Biryani gave us the flavorful, granulated rice and aromatics. The Chicken Malabar was creamy, almost sweet and savory, and paired beautifully with the white rice and naan.

Yelp
Seated at the bar and then largely ignored the rest of the time. I had a wave down a server to take my order. Wave down a server to ask for my check. Wave down a server to ask for to-go boxes. The to-go containers they brought didn't fit all of my leftovers. At that point I just gave up and left them behind. It was more exhausting than necessary.

Yelp
Love love love this place and what keeps me coming back is their mango lassi drinks!!! Not sure why but they serve the best mango lassi drinks I've been able to find. Garlic naan, beef tikka masala, beef butter chicken and a few mango lassis are my go-to order. The folks here are very warm and welcoming and overall a great experience. Love that they open late on the weekends because for folks like me in the west metro, everything is usually closed at by 8pm :( So driving here is always a win-win for me :) Street parking is probably your best bet as it's nestled between busy streets and ongoing construction. Don't sleep on their bar service as well. Love that you can get a heart meal and end the night with a glass of wine.

Yelp
Curry Corner, cute little place in the heart of northeast Minneapolis. Was in the neighborhood and heard good things so decided to give them a try! Went during lunch on a Tuesday and it was pretty empty. Space was open, clean, and vibey. Service was quick and servers were attentive. We ordered some appetizers, chicken pakora and vegetable samosas. The chicken was a bit dry for our liking but with the sauces it helped a lot! The vegetable samosas were good but could've used a tad bit more salt or flavor. Something about them was missing, but I'd order again. We got one beef makhani and one chicken makhani. Same with those dishes, they were fine but felt like something was missing. Naan was pretty on point. Overall review: Food is good but not over the top. Service is prompt and they were pleasant. Price isn't too wild, I believe I paid $66 after tip for everything. There is construction currently so parking is a bit tricky, but northeast is tiny in that area so not a far walk. If you're in the area and craving Indian, I think it's worth checking out!

Yelp
Mmmm. I dream about their mango coconut curry. This place is top notch! Servers were so kind. Drinks were wonderful but the star of the show is their curry. If you're looking for an Indian curry place that will cater to your Minnesota spice palette, this is your place. I look forward to the day that I can eat here again!

Yelp
Went to Curry Corner for the first time tonight for their Wednesday Date Night Special. 2 drinks, an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert for $75. We thought it was a good deal and wanted to check the place out. The food was ok but the price for the "date night special" is extremely overpriced. We were majorly overcharged. The $75 date night special was a value of only $58. I have included the prices of the items from the menu in one of the pictures below. With taxes and tip tonight we paid $98 for only $58 worth of items. Please make this right Curry Corner, and in the meantime I highly recommend to everyone else to not get the "date night special" and to stick to the regular menu. **edited to say that they called me and actually refunded the meal, which was very nice and professional of them. I'm adding a star back for the professional customer service.**

Yelp
Visited with friends this week. Great little place in NE, plenty of parking options. Our food was delicious, service great. This has become a favorite place.

Yelp
I love curry! My goal is to try all of the restaurants in Minneapolis, Saint Paul area that make curry! Today was Curry Corners opportunity to let me see what they can do! The lamb curry I ordered was tender and juicy! The spices came together well. The curry sauce could have used more salt, otherwise the cardamom allspice, Garam masala and turmeric are perfectly blended. The basmati rice was cooked, nice and fluffy. The garlic naan in my opinion was the star, baked to perfection in the tandoor oven. I was served quickly. My food came out within 12 minutes. They have a nice bar area! Parking however is tricky as East Hennepin is busy. I'll be back to try something else Curry Corner, take care for now!

Yelp
Went on Christmas and it was delicious. It was my boyfriend's first time eating Indian and he gobbled it up, just like I do every time. He has dairy restrictions and the server was really helpful letting him know what dishes he could have. It was really busy and probably a little short staffed so things took a little bit, but I thought they did a great job. Edit to add: I had chicken tikka masala which is always my go-to Indian dish. And for the life of me, even after looking at menu I can't remember what he had, but it didn't have cream. Also has garlic naan and you can never go wrong with that!
google avatar

Luis G.

Yelp
The Lamb vindaloo was great , the right spice The right portions of potato/lamb The sauce wasn't too watery or to thick and mushy Garlic naan was crispy and thin Rice was very fluffy and good The potatoes were awesome, wish there were a bit crispier . The waiter was great, I was never out of coke or water , told him what I wanted for dessert from the beginning and he brought it right after I was done eating . Restrooms were very clean , the floors weren't sticky or wet, the booth I was in didn't have left over crumbs or napkins. Very nice and classy place with great food and service.

Yelp
I was surprised at how good this place is considering its location. Authentic nd tasty. Quick service too and very cute ambiance. Love that they had seating outside !! And with music. Wow !

Yelp
Ordered delivery. Best Indian food I have had in the cities! My saag was amazing and the chutney that comes with the samosas are perfect!

Yelp
Curry Corner is in the fun and popular northeast part of Minneapolis which I love to frequent! Parking is always a little challenging just because of how many things are going on in this area. I loved how this restaurant had large private booths that made it easy to hear conversations and enjoy my meal. The waiter was very kind and conversational. He even gave us a free extra rice to go which was totally above and beyond. I thought the food was definitely made for a western palate and could've had more depth of flavor. Next time I'd probably ask them to make it a bit spicier! My favorite dish was the gobi Manchurian:) I thought it was a great appetizer and was a great mix of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Amanda L.

Yelp
Love this spot for a quick meal. The coconut curry with chicken was fabulous, I'm not sure how they cook the chicken but it's mouthwateringly juicy. The lamb samosas were also delicious. The service is acceptable, nothing to get excited about but everyone was very nice and food came out hot and quick. Check it out if you're looking for a quick casual meal.
google avatar

Prerna M.

Yelp
This place has decent food. It's hot, and looks fresh, but don't be deceived. The food is definitely not fresh. In fact I think it's really old. I ordered the malai kofta here, and the kofta was rubbery. It was hard and I struggled to cut it. Also, all the food was lacking salt. From the naans, to the curries, everything was saltless. To soothe my taste buds, I decided to order a mango lassi, but that didn't work, because the mango lassi was bitter and not sweet at all. So overall the place wasn't horrible. If you're nearby and you have nothing else to eat, this may be an option, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. Even the service was mediocre. The only reason I'm not giving this place a two star is because of the layout. The restaurant was organized really nicely. It had beautiful pictures and paintings all around, giving off a nice vibe. I came with very high expectations but ended up being very disappointed. Hope this helps!

Yelp
Curry Corner in the heart of Northeast Minneapolis offers all your standard North Indian dishes with nice ambiance. Like almost every other Indian restaurant I've ever been to that has a bar, the bar had no patrons and was used for storing takeout orders. That's something they need to work on. I got one of those takeout orders. The vegetable samosa ($6) was perfectly fine but didn't blow me away. The dal of the day ($12) seemed to be a standard dal tadka and tasted good, albeit a tad salty. The channa masala ($12) was forgettable. The vegetable mango coconut curry ($14) was far too sweet from what I suspect was canned mango (a staple in India, albeit sugared, ruining the natural sweetness of the mango). Curry Corner doesn't label its vegan options nor does it offer anything particularly interesting or unusual. I'd probably return for a drink and a samosa but if you want better North Indian food, check out Hyderabad Grill in Fridley or India House in St. Paul. Gorkha Palace a couple blocks away is also wonderful, though it's Nepalese and not Indian.

Lisa D.

Yelp
Not only is the food incredible, but the staff at Curry Corner are the kindest humans. Truly my favorite restaurant in the twin cities!

Taylor B.

Yelp
Great food at reasonable prices! The naan is homemade and fluffy! The order was done quickly and we were able to enjoy it for longer! Definitely going back!
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
the chicken tikka was awesome! Also, mango lasse drink was a nice sweet complement to the spicy-mild entree. Service was very good, quiet inside on a Wednesday but noisy & dusty outside due to construction on E. Hennepin ave.
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
The three of us were able to walk in on a Sunday evening without a reservation and were seated right away. Street parking was easy to find. Our waiter wasn't overly kind but he was there when we needed him and all our orders were correct. I'm not sure why but I had very high expectations of this place and they fell a bit flat. The food was alright, no strong complaints but it didn't give me that flavor that I was craving and looking for. They gave me a lot of meat with my curry which is always appreciated (it is never fun when they short you on that). My partner felt sick afterwards so he avoided finishing his leftovers - but as always, hard to tell if that was the restaurant or something else.
google avatar

Ellie B.

Yelp
Good sized takeout portions and yummy food! I ordered the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. In my opinion it's good and the flavor was there, but at the price point it wouldn't be my first go-to spot.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Great local Indian spot! The food was really delicious and our server was super helpful in helping us understand the spice levels. I only have two complaints 1) The service was a little slow (took a while to get water and have them refilled) and 2) The music was pretty loud, which made conversation a little difficult. Other than those two small complaints, I definitely recommend this place! I know I'll be back!

vanessa f.

Yelp
Really well priced and large portions. The drinks are pretty strong as well. So much naan!!
google avatar

susie K.

Yelp
Love this place. Try to stop when we are driving between Portland and Seattle. The food is delicious and the service friendly and helpful. Last time we were there, they had switched over to take-out only so we just ate in the car. And they were nice enough to let us use their bathroom. We just waited in our car and they brought our food out to us.
google avatar

Gurvinder S.

Yelp
Great food & service! Our family love the Indian street food options - pani puri and vada pav!
google avatar

Brett H.

Yelp
One would think that a new restaurant would have growing pains, not here! First and foremost was the service- they wanted us to have the best meal possible. The best service we have had in a long time. Not to mention the amazing food! We started with the lamb samosas which were stuffed with lamb and came with 2 amazing sauces. For the main, we split the Chicken Tikka Masala which had big chunks of chicken and Garlic naan to mop up the amazing sauce. Cute patio in the summers, no reservations needed, and street parking is ample. Can't wait to go back!

Madeline C.

Yelp
I was craving Indian food at work & decided to order for take-out & give this place a try -- SO DELICIOUS. I went a little crazy & i'm so glad I did! I got the Makhani (Butter) Chicken, Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan & Raita-Yogurt & everything was piping hot when I picked it up, it wasn't too spendy & it was ready pretty quick! Highly recommend :)
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
I recently got takeout at Curry Corner in Minneapolis. I ordered the chicken marsala and butter chicken. I also got a side of naan. The meal was very flavorful and not too spicy. The chicken marsala has more of a kick to it- But it is the perfect hint of spice. The only problem I had with this establishment is we were given one wrong item. It is pictured as the green tofu item below. The workers were very nice and I was surprised to have a mixup in my order. Beware of the parking as it is on a busy street. prices are what you would expect from a local restaurant- everything below for $40. Overall, solid restaurant for some Indian Food in Minneapolis!

Thomas O.

Yelp
Was excited to have an Indian restaurant a block from my new apartment. I only wish the flavors lived up to my excitement. Both mains (Chicken Makhani and something else) were quite bland. They just lacked flavor. I would possibly give them a second chance if there wasn't a better option in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
This is a great place to go for traditional Indian cuisine. The ambience is nice ans features a variety of seating- booths, tables, bar, and high tops. The garlic naan and chicken tikka masala were stellar. Our server was helpful and kind.
google avatar

Shelby H.

Yelp
This spot is located at a convenient area in northeast Minneapolis, but you may have to pay for parking. I liked the ambience of the spot, it is pretty laid-back, great lighting, and the service is pretty good. The only reason for four stars is the food was good but it didn't exactly wow us. We ordered the curry, naan bread and then I ordered A traditional mango drink. The curry was good but it wasn't amazing, it lacked a little bit of flavor but the naan bread was amazing. If you go definitely get the cheese filled naan bread but you can't go wrong with the regular naan bread as well. I definitely want to come back here and give it another chance and try other items but for now if you are looking for a quick and easy curry spot at a reasonable price, I would recommend the spot but just know that it's good but it's not amazing.

Caitlin M.

Yelp
So yummy amazing food. Get the sag paneer. Beautiful tasty naan. Service was great! Sat outside and enjoyed the patio on the quiet part of a busy area. Good beer selection. the na yogurt based drinks are amazing
google avatar

Tiana D.

Yelp
Went to Curry Corner on a Sunday evening and had a wonderful time! Server was kind, super quick (the restaurant was pretty empty though), and helpful when I asked for recommendations. Ordered the Gobi Manchurian, Butter Chicken Paneer Naan. Food was delicious and had plenty leftover to take home.
google avatar

Eva D.

Yelp
Good, not great and overhyped for my taste. I love Indian food, it's one of my favorite cuisines and I'm always on the lookout for something new and yummy to try. When I saw the rave reviews, I was compelled to try this place. I ordered from Uber eats and tried the lamb samosas, garlic naan, chicken Josh, chicken makhani (butter chicken), baingan bharta eggplant, kheer and a mango lassi. Let's start with the good. The mango lassi was delicious and portion size was generous. The eggplant was pretty good and everything else was just average....not bad, but not great either. The dishes just seemed to be missing the depth of flavor I've come to expect when eating fabulous Indian food. The samosas were the worst. Before this experience, I've never met a samosa I didn't love. How can one not like deep fried goodness like a samosa with yummy chutney and mint sauce? This one was dry, had a weird flavor and my husband and I chucked both of ours in the garbage after one bite. I paid extra to add cauliflower to both dishes. We got, literally, 2 small pieces in each dish...wish I were exaggerating but I'm unfortunately not. So I'd skip that option. Given there are other, more succulent options if you're craving Indian food, I'd say consider other places. If you're not too discerning about Indian food, it will probably meet your expectations.
google avatar

Jenna C.

Yelp
This was pur first time trying Curry Corner and we were not disappointed! We got the Tikka Masala and the classic Butter Chicken with some Garlic Naan. The rice pot they have us was huge so they definitely don't skimp! Our butter chucken came loaded with huge chunks of chicken. The naan was huge and the perfect size for one person. Their portions are great as well as the food. Our only complaint is that the food wasn't as spicy as we had hoped. We got their spiciest option, but it was still very much mild. However, you can request the hotChicken Tikka MasalaChicken Tikka Masala sauce on the side to make the dishes spicier. Overall, the service was great and dishes we tried were all very tasty. Definitely will be coming back!
google avatar

M.D. L.

Yelp
Great vegetarian food, amazing service! The owner is the chef, this place is a must to check out.
google avatar

Kailee C.

Yelp
Great new spot in NE! We were warmly greeted when we came in and had excellent service the whole time. We started with the tamarind margarita which was fresh and had a unique flavor. Our server recommended the Gobi Manchurian as an app. They were little crispy cauliflower bites in an amazing sauce and were SO good. I would go back just for these. He also recommended the Vindaloo as an entree and it came with rice. Both dishes had a kick to them so I'm glad we didn't get them too spicy! We also got a garlic naan to share which was good but not one of the best I've had. I like it with more butter and garlic Will definitely be back or order takeout!

T G.

Yelp
The food here is very good, the spice level system they use is also very useful for people who want options with that. The staff is great they always remember us from previous visits and are always extremely prompt and efficient. Really cool ambiance too.

Rodney B.

Yelp
Food was excellent, we had both the chicken curry Lamb saag and the second time I had the Chicken Vindaloo. Spice levels are appropriate for Midwest. Hot is perfect and not an overkill. Food was fresh, well seasoned and attention to detail. We have eaten in and used take out service both were consistent quality and attention to detail. Easy online ordering with a text notification when your food is ready and a followup text 2-3 hours later to get your feedback. That's quality control and customer focused. This is our new favorite Indian restaurant. We'll be back for more. Ambiance is beautiful well decorated, the only knock is it's built for much larger audiences than what's currently needed. As the word gets out on this new restaurant they will be ready.
google avatar

Cindy V.

Yelp
5 stars for the food minus 4 stars for the service. I've dined here about a dozen times. Have waited no less than 20 minutes after we are seated to have someone take our order......while I'm watching 3 servers bounce into each other between the kitchen and dining room. Every. Single. Time. WTH? Going forward, I will call in for take out. What a shame it's such a big place, great food and full of empty tables.

John E.

Yelp
Food is outstanding! I have been there a few times and have tried many different things. Appetizers are ridiculously good. Chili chicken is especially delicious.
google avatar

Erin A.

Yelp
Pretty darned meh. I found their menu hit and miss, with a few items decent, some poor, mostly not all that interesting. It sort of fitting in that they are probably perfect for someone who has eaten only mainstream American, but wants to feel adventurous and urbane without actually trying anything actually unusual or challenging to their preconceptions, and they inhabit the space of a previous restaurant you could have described in exactly the same way.

Daniel B.

Yelp
Food was wonderful in terms of taste. Good variety of food on the menu between the apps and entrees. And go as far to say it's worth coming back if you enjoy this type of cuisine. If you enjoy spicy food, I advise 4-5 on their scale. 3 was not spicy at all. The seating area was good. Lighting is dim and tables are not crowded. The place isn't that busy either. What was to be desired was the service of the staff. Just unfriendly and awkward. They didn't offer refills on the tea that was noted on their menu. After ordering, they don't do enough check-ins? As a whole, not a great experience to dine in. If you're feeling curry, take out from this place.

Asher K.

Yelp
For starters, amazing costumer service. Called in an order for pickup, the employee taking my order was super friendly, personable, and overall just positive. Food was ready within 10-15, took it home to feast. It was fire asf! I'm actually eating it as I speak, it was so good I had to leave a review. Pretty sure this is my first review but take my word for it, it's gas. I got the lamb biryiani... get it! You must. Shoutout to curry corner, they got me righteous! Also I didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked super nice and vibey in there.

Eris D.

Yelp
Full bar, TVs for spornts watching, delicicious food, convenient on-street parking, AND they are open on Monday nights!! I love Curry Corner.

M T.

Yelp
Had an awful experience here on a date night with my wife. - Service was atrocious. A bizarre combination of hovering and then completely ignoring us. At one point a server stood near our table and stared at us for several minutes without saying a word. They brought dishes to the table and then cleared them extremely clumsily, at one point sticking a thumb directly into our rice. We were asked how our food tasted over and over, literally 3-4 different people coming over to ask us within a minute or two of it being delivered to the table. It felt like eating dinner with a particularly insecure home cook. This was after the staring incident and neither my wife nor I felt comfortable answering honestly. - Food was horrible. I ordered shrimp korma and got something vaguely like tikka masala with rubbery, fishy-tasting shrimp. My wife ordered fish korma and got a different sauce as well as chunks of paneer in with the fish. Our pappadum was rubbery, tamarind chutney was stringy, my mango lassi was nauseatingly sweet and syrupy and didn't taste of mango at all. Everything tasted frozen or canned except the rice, which was watery-tasting and mushy. My wife said the cocktail she ordered was fine, at least. I'm hugely disappointed - we were looking forward to having an Indian place in the neighborhood, but we won't be going back. The service was so terrible I didn't even feel comfortable giving feedback, just paid and left ASAP to get out from under the staring and weirdness. Do not recommend, especially for dining in.

Yelp
So glad to have one of the best Indian restaurants in town here in NE. The food is delicious and the service is always so fast and friendly. Love the saag with tofu, chana, or aloo. My husband always gets a lamb dish--sometimes vindaloo or tikka masala. And we never skip the house pickles, which are pungent enough to knock your socks off. Every appetizer we've tried has been great, and the naan is always fresh, hot, and delicious. Love this place!

Yelp
Very good quality food ! The staff was amazing . I'll be back to try some drinks next time I go . The Indian pickle was better than average. If you order spicy it still may not be spicy really.
