Update: I went again a few days later to have my son try their Panang Chicken (yellow curry with peanut butter). He loved it! All their food feels like comfort food. I had been waiting to go here and finally got a chance. The people working were so nice! I got to try some samples and the food is amazing. Nice comfort food. 😋 They do tell you the food is Americansized, so not as spicy but that you can add spice.

I’ve eaten at many Indian restaurants across the country, including Artesia’s famous Pioneer Boulevard—Little India of America. With that experience in mind, I can confidently say Curry in a Hurry here in Bakersfield is something special. Their chicken tikka masala is one of the very best I’ve ever had—spot on, rich with flavor, clearly cooked with love, and true to a traditional recipe. You can taste the care and authenticity in every bite. Beyond the food, the place is fresh, welcoming, and run by genuinely friendly people. It’s a gem that deserves attention, and I would highly encourage anyone to give it a try. Whether you’re new to Indian cuisine or a longtime fan, you’ll leave impressed.

Nice place to get some tasty curry in a hurry. Great variety of different curries and naan and samosas. The service is very friendly and plenty of seating and parking. I can't wait to go during the winter when it cools down and get some tasty comfort food curry to warm me up. Definitely recommend the place.

As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the owner, who asked if it was my first time here. When I responded yes, he gave me a description of the restaurant offering an Americanized version of Indian food, similar to the way Chipotle offers an Americanized version of Mexican food. He also explained that the spiciness is toned down as a default for all dishes, but you can add chili oil if you’d prefer. I appreciated this explanation. It helped me understand what the restaurant was going for with its menu, and gave me the impression that the owners were open about this concept being different from a traditional Indian dining experience. They also have a printed graphic on their napkin dispensers that give additional background about the owners being heavily influenced by his time working at Panda Express. There was only one couple in line before me, so I was served pretty quickly. A friendly woman took my order while the owner appeared to prepare the food. I ordered a bowl with butter chicken, rice, vegetables, and garlic naan. I also added the mini veggies and a drink on the side. Two of the three indoor tables were taken so I sat at the third one. I enjoyed my meal while they played light rock music in the background. Their AC and an oscillating fan kept me cool during the high temperatures of a Bakersfield heat wave. I really enjoyed my meal! While the flavors weren’t exact recreations of what you’d get at an authentic Indian restaurant, the essence of the dishes were there, and they were delicious. Definitely a much more satisfying fast food experience than a lot of the options out there that leave me feeling sluggish from the greasiness. It seems to me that if you come with an expectation of the same experience as a sit-down restaurant with authentic Indian dishes, you may leave disappointed. However, if you accept the concept of Americanized Indian food, and approach with curiosity, you may find yourself satisfied with your meal. (-:

Buddy of mine told me to try this out for lunch since I was on this side of town. I was greeted immediately and told a bit of information of the place. It’s an Americanized version of Indian food with low spice levels yet they have a spicy chili oil if that’s what you like. Anything not already prepared they will make fresh for you. I had their bbq chicken and beef with peas, both delicious with rice and veggies. I love spicy so I used a whole chili oil but that wasn’t an issue. Ate dine in although they still gave a very high quality Togo container. Some might care to notice the soda machine has cool beer tap knobs that make me like a character in straight out of the 50’s. Nice owner and family fun definitely should try it.

The food? Amazing Indian cuisine! Promptly prepared for our life on the go. Perfectly crafted with the right flavor. A go to spot for those of us who are novices but intrigued of the Indian culture! The service? Absolutely the best! The most friendliest crew of people working that give you that family vibe. A definite go to spot that I will continue to frequent. You will not be disappointed!!

We came in for lunch today. This is a small place. They have three tables inside along with three or four outside on the patio. This place was extremely clean and the two workers I spoke to were very nice and knowledgeable. They even gave us samples so we could decide what to order. I was told that most of their entrées were not very spicy and they would be considered mild. They do have chili oil they will add to anybody’s entrée to spice it up. We tried the butter chicken, Penang curry chicken. Both plates with white rice and naan. The naan can be ordered plain or with garlic. Both of the entrées were delicious. We ordered the garlic naan which was wonderful. Even the rice was fluffy and tasty. The food here is outstanding. We will be returning very soon.

Fantastic. Loved their food! Love thier story Great Service! I liked their menu options. It can get overwhelming when there are too many options but this was very easy & straight forward. Looking forward to taking my family to try them as well! BTW: their Naan was freshly made on the spot 🤤.

Drove all the way from Porterville to try this place and it did not disappoint! Curry in a hurry was super fresh and delicious and the customer service was amazing. We were instantly greeted, the wonderful woman working in the front explained how the ordering system worked, and we were offered samples of whatever we were interested in. They were super patient and offered to answer any questions we had. There was a good selection of stubborn sodas which was cool and rare and the whole establishment was crystal clean. We got the buttered chicken, potatoes and cauliflower, fried cheese tikka masala, and garlic naan and it was all so flavorful. The garlic naan was made to order so it was even more fresh. It was very hard to choose what to get because everything looked so appetizing. Definitely visiting this place again.

I can't express enough, how grateful I am to have found Curry in a Hurry! This place is perfect! Pam was so kind when I came in. She Greeted me, explained the concept and got my order together. I ordered the butter chicken bowl with rice and added the veggies. I also got the garlic naan which was so divine! The restaurant itself is smaller than I thought, but that's the least of the review. The food is absolutely amazing! So flavorful, big portions, but be careful with that chili oil tho! The restaurant is clean. Prices are fair too. I will definitely be coming back!

When they say they are Americanised Indian food , they are right. No taste , no flavor. The butter chicken sauce is really runny, like water . Didn't have the creamy texture or color of butter chicken. No flavor at all. The Naan was less then tasty . Just plain Naan with a dab of garlic plopped In the middle. Fired cheese tikka masala, was just ok. But better then then the butter chicken . No reason to ever go back. Very pricey . Small portions for the price. Go to any Indian restaurant order off the menu. You will get quality taste and left overs .

First time here and had the Butter Chicken bowl. The garlic naan, made fresh was delicious. If I lived in Bakersfield I would eat here more often. Service was excellent...they made sure we had everything we wanted.

I got my curry in a hurry. They had a lot of curry and it tasted like curry. The place smelled like curry and the curry was good.

First time comming here, ordered a bowl of butter chicken with rice and veggies; it was surprisingly filling for the size. Super delicious, my only critic would be that I wish there was more chicken. It definitely felt like there was more sauce than chicken. Their chilli oil is also really good and spicy. Service was quick and the worker was very helpful and kind.

Thanks to Yelp, I heard about Curry in a Hurry and decided to try it for myself. It was such a great experience! The store is very clean and the service was wonderful. The woman who took my order was very helpful in explaining their menu. I was able to sample the items that I was interested in before placing my order. I decided on the butter chicken. It was very mild, but they offer a side of chili oil if you want to add some spice to it. Warning: it is VERY spicy, so a little goes a long way. Adding some in definitely brought the dish altogether for me. It's convenient that you can adjust the spice to your personal preference. I can't wait to come back here again! Got the plate, butter chicken and bbq chicken are on point. Very tasty, comes with veggies and naan. Ask for the chili oil, it's so good!

This is our favorite place to eat. Everything on the menu is so tasty. The servings are perfect and filling and their prices are reasonable. The owners are always very nice and they give free samples of their entrees for those of us who are not that familiar with them. They have a great selection of cold drinks. The restaurant is always very clean and pleasant to dine in.

yall what are you waiting for just get over here, eat the food. you'll never regret trying it this is the best place to come if you're trying to introduce yourself to indian food and a comfortable level of spice and flavor. it is absolutely sublime

Curry in a Hurry is pretty great! I really like the concept of having a fast choice for this sort of grub. The naan is fantastic and they cook it to order on this cool circular machine. It's so very steamy, hot and yummy. They have these little baby samosas, chicken and veg., they aren't homemade, but still pretty good. The butter chicken is really good. I love that they have Stubborn Soda in 4 flavors, it's one of my faves. They have limited seating, but it's easy to take away too! I love the signage on the parking outside and the patio seating is pretty nice, as soon as it cools down a bit, I'm sure it will be getting some use. I will definitely be back.

This restaurant replaced a sandwich place I really liked... No hard feelings though! I tried their food and I have to say, it's really good as far as Indian fare goes. My choice was the chicken Masada and the chicken curry. Both were flavorful, and left me wanting more. That was pretty much my only complaint really- the portions aren't very big and I was hungry again not too long after.

My daughter and I went for an early dinner. It has a cute small dining area with some outside seating. We were warmly greeted and they explained the menu. As a vegan, I was happy that the naan could be made without butter. I had the potato and cauliflower with rice and vegetables. My daughter had butter chicken with rice and vegetables. We also had an order of vegetable samosas. Everything was delicious! Mildly seasoned but the addition of their chili oil added the right amount of heat. The owners were personable and gracious. The food was hot and fresh.

I saw that this place opened up near my house and wanted to try it because I really enjoy Indian food. It was nice that I could order for pick up online. I ordered the friend cheese tikka masala and buttered chicken plate. My wife ordered the fried cheese tikka masala bowl and our son got the beef and potato bowl. My wife and I thought that the fried cheese tikka masala was good, but we didn't feel it was special. This would have been only been a 4 star review, but I'm so glad I ordered the butter chicken. The butter chicken was 5 star for me and my wife. He was enjoying her choice until I told her to try my butter chicken. She took one bite and her jaw dropped. The chicken had a crispy texture and great flavor, even though it sat in the sauce as I drove the 10 minutes back to my house from the restaurant. The flavor of the sauce was so good that my wife kept dipping her garlic naan into my sauce as we ate. I will probably be back to try their other foods, but I will definitely always order the butter chicken. As my wife said, the tikka masala was good, but the butter chicken is definitely 5 star. It's been a day since I ordered, and writing this review it making me crave that butter chicken right now. The storefront is small with limited seating, so I would suggest ordering online and getting it to go if it's for more than just 1 or 2 people. The service was a little slow, but I also got there at the same time as two other couples/families and this is a new place, so that was understandable. I'm sure they'll be faster as they get up and running.

Love the food here! Meat is tender and flavorful and the veggies are always fresh and crisp never mushy which is a big win for me. Highly recommended!

Curry In A Hurry is hands down the best Indian food I've had in ages. Every dish was incredibly delicious. The owners were incredibly welcoming and allowed me to sample the food before making my decision. They were also incredibly attentive. I'm surprised I haven't been here sooner. Please don't miss out on Curry In A Hurry. I can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing food.

Ideal lunch spot with filling bowls and plates of Indian food! I order online for pick up and my food was ready when I arrived and the staff was friendly giving me extra chili and plastic wear. When I got my order home I tried my bowl of butter chicken. The veggies, sauce, and rice were all great and filling. The garlic naan is pretty moist but covered in garlic and butter so that's a huge plus! Garlic lovers will be thrilled. My only issue was that the chicken itself was strange. The bites of chicken were rough? Not sure how to explain it but it felt crispy under the sauce and was not the chicken texture you'd expect or want in an Indian dish. I'll try this place again though and hope it was just a weird one time thing. I didn't finish the chicken because to me the texture made it inedible.

I've been meaning to try this place for awhile because it's a few doors down from my work and I was so pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is immaculate and clean, even the restrooms. The woman who greeted me was so friendly and informative. Very nice woman. The food is amazing, the samosas were crispy on the outside and soft inside and the sauce was really fresh tasting. Garlic naan made right in front if me to order (I got extra). All 4 curry dishes were excellent. Next time I will order with a bit more spice since you can customize your spice levels. Even mild it was really flavorful and very saucy which I love because gotta have that extra that to dip the naan in! Overall it was a great choice for a quick affordable take out lunch. I will definitely be back and recommend to others.

2nd visit and been dying to come back! My first visit was through a Yelp event and I have been craving the butter chicken so badly! The staff is incredibly friendly and kind. I ordered the butter chicken, rice, veggie bowl, garlic naan, and a side of chicken samosas. Everything was ABSOLUTELY delicious and recommend this restaurant especially! Dipping the garlic naan into the butter chicken sauce...pure heaven. And did I mention how delicious the food smells when it's cooking! Thank you! This is my favorite Indian restaurant.

Curry in a Hurry is a new Chipotle-like American Indian fast food! You get to choose from rice or naan to their entrees. They also give out tastings of their food before you put your foot down for yours! We ended up deciding on two entrees and a side. We got garlic naan, butter chicken, and the fried paneer. The garlic naan could have been cooked a little more and the flavor was lacking. It needed more garlic to make it actually taste like a garlic naan. The fried paneer was really good, I like the butter chicken sauce but the chicken was a little lacking in flavor. The whole idea is very fascinating! They are a new business and even asked us for advice moving forward. It was good!

Food is great for being a quick stop Chipotle-style Indian restaurant! Simple menu that offers exactly what you'd like. The restaurant is very small. Naan was good! If you're craving Indian food that you can get quick, I highly recommend! The only sort of bummer was the owner just standing there in the back of the restaurant fiddling with something and occasionally looking up at us while his mother waited on us, asked us how we found out about the place, and made sure we had what we needed. She said she was there to help him. We were the only people in the restaurant for about 30 mins. But, his mother was delightful, he is blessed to have her! Would have been nice to speak to the owner and feel appreciated too. I will give this restaurant 5 stars despite this because of her! If we would have been welcomed by ownership, I would give 5 stars without hesitation.

I'll be honest, I've never really been into Indian food. The spices and flavors have always been a bit hard for me to get used to. But Curry in a Hurry completely changed my mind. I'm not sure if it's 100% authentic, but for me, this food was absolutely delicious. I met the owner and her son, and they were both incredibly kind and welcoming. They even made the naan fresh to order: hot, fluffy, and topped with garlic. It was amazing. I tried both the tikka masala and the butter chicken, and they were outstanding. The chili oil was also so good and hot! I really appreciated that they offered samples before ordering, which helped me decide on my sides and made me feel even more taken care of. Whether you're new to Indian food, already love it, or just want something fast and flavorful, I highly recommend this place. The food is fresh, the service is warm, and the flavors are absolutely worth it.

I have seen this place for a while but haven't tried until today. And man I'm glad I did! I was in the mood to try something different and this place fit the bill. I ordered the butter chicken and tika marsala and bbq chicken. And I gotta tell you it was delish! I didn't really care for the bbq chicken and their naan bread but man their butter chicken and tika masala we're an absolute yummy to my tummy. It's the right amount of flavor and spice, not overpowering. Their single entree and bowl is right on the budget and good if you just want to try their food. Will definitely be coming back. And I will try their other items on the menu nextime.

Friday night rolls around and the wife and I are running errands after work , so that means we need to find a spot to eat! I love indian/punjabi food. Spice and spicy food is delicious! We have been to a few Indian restaurants in town, and even a few trucks. Curry in a Hurry is near our area and we decided to give it a whirl. It is located in the same area as mimosa cafe, shermin williams and lengthwise. Plenty of parking. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Brigh and Arvin (the owner). Like others have mentioned it is definitely a chipotle/victors/panda style. You pick the Portion you want : bowl, 2 item plate or 3 item plate. Each one automatically comes with rice and your choice of garlic or butter Naan. If you are new to indian food and are not sure what to try the employees will guide you and you can also sample any of the items. They had several dishes to choose from(see photos) . Every item was there minus the BBQ chicken, as that was still cooking and it takes a bit longer. I went with the Panang chicken curry and the beef and peas. I was in the mood for a lentil dish and they don't have one but suggested the garbanzo beans. They were so good I got a side of them to dip my Naan in. I did mention to the Brigh that I love spice and she did state the food is milder to accommodate the majority of customers BUT they have chili oil for you to add and spice it up. My wife got the Cauliflower and potatoes, butter chicken and Tikka Masala. My favorite was a Tie between the panang curry , the peanut butter sauce and chicken/veggies were great! Second favorite was the butter chicken. Very tender chunks of meat, nice hint of sweet and I added the chili sauce to it. Bomb! Beef and peas were good, but not as great as the other dishes. The wifey's favorites were the butter chicken and garbanzo beans. Speaking with Arvin the owner, he let me know that all of the items and sauces are made in house. The fact that they were able to do that, mainstream it to be quick, and still taste good is impressive! Price point was pretty cheap. It was only 30$. Scoreeee! This is a very easy, affordable and good option when we are busy or want to eat out. Plus i still think it's pretty healthy. Rice and chicken. Carbs and protein! Please keep in mind this is not going to be 100% authentic. I don't go to taco bell expecting tacos like the ones in mexico, or go to panda for authentic chinese.

Dropped in for lunch last week and got a plate so I could try a few different things. The staff is beyond friendly and they are great at explaining the concept. The food isn't traditional Indian it's Americanized and it's less intense on heat but they give you chili oil if you want to spice your food up a bit. I tried the fried cheese masala and the chicken curry. Food came up quick and the masala was made fresh so that's a definite plus. The flavor is really good and the chili oil adds a nice kick to the food I think it's a great compliment. If I have one criticism it's the portion size is a little on the small side. I had maybe 4 pieces of fried cheese in the masala and the chicken curry had a few small pieces of chicken, there was a lot more onion slices in the curry than there was chicken. The rice is good and I really enjoyed the garlic naan. Up that portion size a bit and it would be a true home run for me. I'm sure I'll be back again because the flavor is definitely there and I'd recommend trying it out if you haven't already.

Haven't really eaten a lot of Indian food in my life, my wife and I wanted to try this place for a while now. The lady who helped us who very nice and extremely helpful explaining what everything was. You can even get a sample. My wife and I got the bowls, she got the Chicken Tiki Masala and I got the Panang chicken, both excellent, with a ton of flavor. Don't get me started on the garlic naan bread, sooo good. I think our meals with drinks were $13.00 each, a great deal and cheaper and healthier than any burger place. We will be back hopefully sooner than later.

5 Stars for Customer Service! With a peanut/tree nut allergy, my biggest concern when I try new food (especially ethnically diverse food that I am less familiar with) is the possibility of having an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. I sent a direct message to the restaurant here to confirm if the food is safe for my allergy. Almost immediately, I received a friendly response informing me that the only item on the menu that contains peanuts is the Panang Chicken and that they couldn't wait for me to try their other menu items. The first time I ordered here, I got my food for delivery. It came fast and was packaged well in a way that kept the food hot and fresh. The second time I ate here, I decided to go in person. The staff was just as friendly as their direct message made them sound! I had my kids with me and this was their first time eating indian food; the staff happily answered questions my daughter had about what each item was and even handed her a taste test cup of each thing she inquired about! The restaurant setting was a little confusing for us, because it was set up kind of like a panda express (where you can see all the items behind glass and they serve you) but almost all the trays were all empty and they cooked only what we asked for, in the quantity that we wanted, so I am not sure if we came at an off peak time or if they really just make everything fresh every time, but either way, it was yummy and fresh and wonderful. Definitely get extra garlic naan and a side of the butter chicken sauce for the ultimate DELICIOUS lunch!!

I really want to like this place! I love curry and it's close by, but there's just not enough of flavor in the curries. It's pricey for the portion size. The naan is good and the butter chicken is too! The employees are friendly and helpful. Ambience is nice and clean.

Enjoyed bowl of chicken tiki marsala and a plate of butter chicken with Naan, rice, and veggies. I really enjoyed the butter chicken. The sauces are not hot, but you can ask for chili oil to spice it up. Prices are in line with other fast casual establishments. The workers were super sweet and would answer any questions. I was impressed that they use real spices and not from a can. I was only disappointed in the samosas as they were the size of a half dollar, but I liked the tamarind sauce. If you are new to Indian curry, this is a great first try, or you like curry and you want a fast lunch. Give them a try. There is plenty of free parking and two doors down from Lengthwise.

I love this place! They're super friendly, they make sure you feel welcome, that you know what you're ordering, and they let you sample anything you want. It's clear they put a lot of thought into bringing you fresh, delicious Indian food. The spice level is toned down so anyone can handle the food, but chili oil is available if you need the heat! Sadly, my favorite part of this place might be the tap handles on the soda machine Super-satisfying to use.

The food is delicious, coming not spicy (if your kiddos don't like spicy food), however you can make your meal as spicy as you would like with additional condiments. Their chili oil is very spicy, so be cautious when adding. We like our food spicy, and with a small portion added, my heat went from a 1 to a 4 (out of 6). Our kids had the Butter Chicken and loved it. My wife and I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Panang Chicken Curry, and with the rice and vegetables, we all left full! Surprisingly good food for a quick Indian option. We will be back. (No photo of the food but will snap one next time). Give this place a try. You just might be surprised. Arvind (owner/chef) is pouring his heart into this small spot, and it shows.

I absolutely love this place! Where better to go for fast, delicious, and affordable curry than Curry in a Hurry?! I walked in shortly after opening and was happily greeted like I was an old friend. The food was fresh and so yummy, the portions were very filling. I ordered a bowl with rice, veggies, Panang chicken curry, and garlic naan. The rice was perfect, veggies tender, chicken was moist and flavorful, the naan to die for! I will be back for some more!

My boyfriend and I just tried curry in a hurry for the first time and let me tell you, it was a total hit! We got the chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. If you're a sweet tooth, the butter chicken is your jam. It's so rich and creamy! The tikka masala was also amazing, but a bit less sweet. Both dishes had super tender chicken. We also ordered the cinnamon sugar naan. I think it had condensed milk in it, which made it perfect for me because I'm a huge condensed milk girly. Would definitely go back!

I finally tried Curry in a Hurry for the first time today, and I will definitely be back! I've been craving chicken tikka masala, so I got a bowl with it, rice, and vegetables. The bowl comes with naan, and I also got a side of vegetable samosas. Everything tasted wonderful, and the employees were helpful and friendly. I feel like I got a great amount of food for the price, and it's a good quick lunch option for me when I'm in the area.

I've been wanting to try them for months. Went on a Monday and they were closed (my fault for not checking) went back a few days later. OMG the food is amazing! The lady who helped us was so nice and explained how it worked and we tasted a few things. I got the butter chicken and tikka masala chicken. My mom got the curry chicken and BBQ chicken. We both got the Samosas while we waited for my mom's BBQ to be made fresh. We got garlic naan and the CinnaNaan. I love bread so I got an extra garlic naan and extra sauce. I wish I had gotten 2 extra naan! Everything was amazing! Just excellent and we cannot wait to go back. So happy with the whole experience. Absolutely love this place!!!

It's like a Chipotle meets Panda Express but Indian food! I love the fast food concept. I got the plate with butter chicken and the bbq chicken. Omg....that bbq chicken had amazing flavors and the char just made it over the top. I would just eat that and be happy. The butter chicken was delicious too! I tried the panang curry and Tikka marasala. The curry flavors are strong like you would think you would get. This is a great tester place for someone to try Indian food! My ding was the Naan. We took our food to go and the garlic Naan just wasn't doing anything for me. Maybe if I had eatten it in the resturant and it was fresher.

Great food and great service. I've always wanted a good local Indian curry spot - and this is just that. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, and very tasty food at a good price point. Very clean restaurant, very quick service (as long as the people ahead of you don't have tons of questions). Definitely will be a regular here.

The food is really good. The owners are really friendly and make good recommendations. If you're looking to try Indian cuisine for the first time or like a milder take on it this is the place.

I'm visiting from out of town and saw someone reviewing this place on instagram so I decided to give it a try! WOW! So good! So flavorful! The chicken was so tender! Quality Indian food! I'm bummed I live out of town but happy to have a spot to visit when I'm in town
