15 Top Restaurants in Hoboken | Eater NY

"Lots of places in the metropolitan area dispense Mumbai street snacks, but none quite so well as Curry Up Now, a lively and colorfully decorated fast casual spot with seating inside and outside. Vada pav is a pair of buttered and toasted buns into which are loaded round potato fritters with a pleasing cumin flavor, and lots of a fiery spice powder known as Bombay dust. Plenty of other snacks and curries, including vegetarian and chicken versions, are worth checking out." - Robert Sietsema

As soon as we entered this place, Felt cute however we didn't saw any Indian folks at the front desk and pre-assumed. God knows how's the food gonna be. We ordered just one dish and after tasting Omg we couldn't stop. Order at least more than 5 platter. Everything was great. Kathi roll was not that great though. Server offered my some snacks for little one as well.

Google
I cannot say one bad thing about this place! The vibes, the menu, the branding, the food, the service: everything was amazing! The kids enjoyed the fryums so much that the owner came out and gave them a whole big bowl of them to munch on.

This place is awesome! As soon as we walked in, it smelled so good and the staff were greeting us with a smile. The menu was very large, but the employees were ready to break it all down for us. I got the tikka masala bowl and it was delicious 🤩

WOW 👌 I am so happy that I found this restaurant. Delicious food & so many different options in the menu. While I was sitting and eating, I kept looking at the menu for the next visit 😋 Rachel provided great customer service, and she is very knowledgeable about all the food in the menu. Can't wait to go back ☺️

Google
The person who took our order walked us through the menu before we ordered which was appreciated as it was our first time here. I had a chicken tikka masala burrito and it was delicious and spicy!

Google
Over all a good experience. We ordered the Punjabi 69, chicken Kathi roll, pav bhaji and dal halwa. Punjabi 69 was delectable. The Kathi roll was bland and had gravy..a no for us. Pav bhaji was good . Dal halwa was an utter disappointment..Seemed like they served up some frozen good, which wasn't even thoroughly heated up. Will recommend for a visit

Curry Up Now in Durham boasts a fantastic location and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. The ambiance is vibrant, making it a nice spot to grab a quick bite. However, when it comes to the food, the experience is somewhat mixed. While some items were enjoyable, the menu features several twists that stray far from authentic Indian flavors. Dishes with stuff like jam on rice, mozzarella on curry sauce, and curry burritos with avocado, although creative, didn't taste good, and miss the mark for Indian cuisine enthusiasts, in addition of being overpriced for what they offer. If you're in the mood for a quick and casual meal, Curry Up Now might just do the trick. But for those craving a true taste of Indian cuisine, this might not be the spot. Despite the lack of authenticity, the overall dining experience was still enjoyable thanks to the great staff and lively vibes.

Yelp
Restaurant was very clean and organized inside. Staff were nice and helpful with ordering since it was my first time. I definitely enjoyed my meal. My meal had the perfect amount of flavors and spices. The rice was cooked perfectly. I dined it and my meal was brought to me quickly. The juices were okay could've been better. They have cute mason jars and I decided to purchase one. Next time Im in Raleigh I will return here. Definitely a great option for fast Indian food.

Yelp
Met a friend here for a week day lunch. It's located in a retail/residential area that seems to be becoming more popular. I wish they were around when I was in my 20s! Plenty of parking and easy to access. The interior (and exterior!) were very cute! I loved the decor and the ambiance. The gentlemen behind the counter were super helpful and were very excited to explain anything on the menu that we didn't understand. I had glanced at the menu before we went so I kind of knew what I wanted. I ended up getting the mini samosas and the chili garlic naan. There was more that I wanted to try but it was a little pricy to me. The food was delicious and the presentation was great! I was impressed with everything that I experienced here. As we were leaving I saw a special on the door that I failed to notice on my way in...it was for a lunch special, El Jefe I think?, and I will definitely be coming back to try that. It looked like a great value.

Yelp
Returned twice now since my 1 star review. I'll keep this short for once. The actual "street food" items were amazing. The tandoori chicken sandwich is my favorite hands down. Never had anything like it cuz no one makes such a sandwich. The seasoned fries it comes with are amazing too. Tried some different "chaats" and they were really tasty too. Tried their guac out of curiosity and it was fresher than most Mexican places. Glad I gave this spot another chance. I didn't try the burritos again because that's too much risk to pay for it and be disappointed so I suggest the items I mentioned!

Yelp
Heard about this place recently opening and had to give it a try. We ordered ahead of time to go which made things a lot easier. The Pav bhaji was great, though def had a stronger ginger taste. The paneer pizza was okay. The paneer didn't really taste like much but the sauce they used was pretty good. The samosa was good but they came cold and had to heat them up which I did not expect. Overall the food was okay but I think they have a lot of promise to grow once they figure out what they are doing. Atmosphere inside was very clean and felt like a fast casual restaurant. Food prices were average for that area. Plenty of parking. The staff was also very friendly when I went. Overall I think the food here is okay but I also think it just needs some time to figure out their processes. Looking forward to coming back and trying some of their other dishes at another time.

Yelp
I came by to grab a free burrito on their opening day. There was a line out the door so I had to wait for a little while, but once I ordered, the food came out fast. I chose the chicken tikka masala burrito but a lot of their other menu options looked good too. The burrito had really good flavor but it was so spicy that I could barley eat it. I have low spice tolerance and always ask for spicy dishes to be made mild, but I wasn't expecting this to be spicy (there was no indication on the menu that it was) so I didn't think to ask. The meal itself was good, but personally I would've enjoyed it a lot more if it was mild/not spicy - but now I know for next time!

Yelp
Came in here for takeout for a quick meal before a car ride. Staff greeted me when I entered and asked if I had any questions. Very helpful with any questions that I had. Inside is pretty big with lots of seats that I waited at while waiting for my food to be ready. The menu had a variety of items and I had difficulty choosing what to order. I ordered the chicken tikka masala burrito. It was actually pretty filling. Flavors were good. Waited about 10 minutes for my food. Price was okay, maybe a little more than I wanted. About $16 with tip. Overall this meal did the job and was quick.

Yelp
Service was great, it's a clean and pleasant place and the food was fantastic. I'm a vada pav fiend and their version was fantastic -- perfectly fried patty with a butter toasted bun. A quick ladle of their delicious hot sauce and it was awesome. Shared the papri chaat with my wife and it was a bit soupy but tasted great. She had the lamb burrito and loved it -- it's huge and will be two meals for her. Also (and potentially the biggest selling point) -- they have a Maine Root soda fountain!! All you can drink blueberry soda!! I love this place

Yelp
I love this spot! Great ambience, amazing staff and great food. This location is also a sweet deal as well. They changed the menu from time to time so you'll be crawling back for more.

Yelp
Loved this fast casual spot for flavorful and filling food! It's cutely decorated, and our to-go order was ready a few minutes early. The burritos are massive (like bicep-sized, the kind Chipotle used to make before they got skimpy) and made with various flavor-packed protein or veg curries, chickpeas, and basmati rice. We also tried the chicken 69 (a spicy fried popcorn chicken), which was fine, but I wouldn't get it again. It's flavorful but not the kind of coating that I like (battered). My favorite was the naan pizza. It's naan sauced with this caramelized onion-y curry, and topped with juicy tandoori chicken. Would definitely order this every time. There's lots more on the menu we didn't try (samosas, sandwiches, and more), and I'm looking forward to future visits. The only downside is that just about everything we tried was baseline noticeably spicy (hot), so it may not be good for folks or kids who don't eat spicy food.

Yelp
First time visiting. Portions are very large for the price. Was able to feed a family of 4 for around $50 and had leftovers. Really enjoyed our food and the employees were very helpful explaining the menu when ordering at the counter. Will be back to try other items.
google avatar

Jaclyn N.

Yelp
I was pretty disappointed with the portion size for what I paid. The samosas were your average samosa. The ravioli would have been good but they put the sauce in with them right after taking them out of the fryer and the sauce lid melted and sauce was everywhere by the time it got to me. My pizza crust was burned. Chicken was good, but I won't order from here again.

Yelp
Fantastic place with an amazing menu. Staff members are so friendly. The food is delish! Place is clean and cutely decorated. We will definitely take a drive from Cary to tryout other things on their menu.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic place to eat some casual Indian food! We came for their Grand Opening, which involved some free burritos. We also purchased some samosa chaat and a chicken tikka bowel. The food was served quickly, beautifully arranged, and tasted great! If I have a hankering for some chaat, I finally have a place I can go to that's not in Cary! The service is fast and friendly! I will be coming back! This is a great place for a filling, tasty lunch or midday snack. I am happy I was able to check it out today! I have not tried the burritos yet.

Yelp
I've been here twice--once for takeout months ago and again recently, though unintentionally. After my first visit, I had decided not to return, but this second experience confirmed it's time to leave a review. There are a few bright spots: the garlic naan is excellent, the saag paneer is flavorful, and my toddler really enjoys the colorful potato wheels with sweet dipping sauce. The manager has also been kind and accommodating, which I appreciate. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience doesn't hold up. The chicken tikka masala was overly thin and tasted more like spicy tomato soup than the creamy, roasted flavor I expect. The chicken lacked that tender texture and signature roasted flavor you find at other Indian restaurants. The chickpea dish was underwhelming and bland--definitely a pass in favor of the saag paneer. Additionally, while the manager was pleasant, the cashier was not friendly, which impacted the overall experience. I wish I could say this place had improved, but after two visits, I won't be returning.

Yelp
Nice looking clean place. Service was good. And while the food tasted good, maybe I should have gotten a Thali instead of a burrito but I was sucked in by a novelty item. I should've known better with a fast food Indian chain based in Texas. It was nice and spicy but did not cross the line to overly so. The item I got is the Tikka Masala burrito which comes with either chicken or paneer. I got the chicken. My issue is, I couldn't taste the Tikka Masala which whenever I've had it was in a reddish orange sauce. This was not. There was none of this sauce in the burrito. It was mainly Chana Masala (a greenish brown sauce) with rice and and onions and some chicken. It took five bites before I got any chicken. It was tasty and filling but call it what it is a Chana Masala burrito. Which by the way tasted just like the to go Chana Masala I also ordered. I may go back, I don't know.

Yelp
Delicious food, great prices, the place is very modern and colorful and I would highly recommend it if you're craving Indian street food! Quick service too

Yelp
I ordered online, and I was not at all disappointed! The Peace.Love.Vegan.Burrito was a burst of delicious flavor in every bite. My Samosas were perfect. The star of the show was the Burnt Chili Garlic Naan!! I don't usually eat a lot of bread, but I ate ALL of this, and wished I'd ordered a lot more! Family got to try a bite, and I hissed at them when they wanted more! My Naan!! So good!! Just writing this review makes me want more...

Yelp
Indian fusion, kinda. Smells great. Good choice of proteins. Counter service. The fancy sodas are a nice touch. Study the menu before you go so you don't stand at the counter like a dork trying to read the extensive menu board.

Yelp
Food is delicious and served up so creatively. We ordered one of the platters Tiki masala with chicken. The Dahl was spicy but perfect. Chicken tasty. Enough to share but enough for a nice meal! Also pineapple lemonade is divine and served up so well. The people working there were so kind and helpful. The vibe is modern and clean. Lots of people getting to go! Always a good sign. We enjoyed it!

Yelp
Very lackluster spot for Indian food. We got the papdi chat (the portion was tiny and it didn't have all the elements of a proper chat nor did it have the characteristic balance of sweet and savory- it was horribly salty) and the sexy fries with paneer (I liked the flavor, but again tiny portion compared to the price and fries were not at all crispy) for appetizers. For entrees, we got the chole batture (chole had minimal flavor) and the karol bagh thali (saag paneer and peri peri naan were decent). Overall, the food just did not seem freshly made and did not pack the punch expected of good Indian cuisine. Some positives were that the service is fast, ambiance is nice, parking is easy, and the location is accessible. 3/10 would not recommend :/

Yelp
Fast East Indian food with some fun twists More than just a catchy hook, this place serves up some solid East Indian eats Great spice level, great options (vegan included), and quick service from great ppl working there I'm putting it in my regular "fast" rotation I haven't tried the thali, but it looks huge!

Yelp
Quick service. Staff is friendly. So far I've had the Punjabi by nature bowl, Rogan Josh burrito, and Pani Puri and masala chai. All delicious! I'll be coming back again and again!

Yelp
Very good. Creative dishes, and lots to try. The workers were super friendly and helped me figure out what to try. Everything was super flavorfully, and the place is clean, and fun. Good music too.

Yelp
We were actually heading for a cup of coffee and saw Curry Up Now was open. I was eagerly awaiting their opening and was thrilled to stop in. The service was friendly and helpful, Amit answered all my curious questions. The food was so delicious and fresh! I would recommend the samosas, EXCELLENT! And the nann bites were delicious with the most enjoyable masala dipping sauce to accompany them. We definitely plan to return for a full meal and I am excited to try the bowls. Exciting and happy ambiance, fun music to listen too and I love that there are outdoor dining options. I'll be spreading the word....you must try this and you will return!

Yelp
Background, Me and my family have been waiting fir this place to open ever since we saw the building and ads months and months ago. After finally eating there I can now 100% say this place is worth your money. Starting with the Tika Masala, the flavor was so vivid and distinct, very different from the other kinds of Indian food I had, ever. A great distinction. Next the dragonfruit lemonade, which was the bomb. A galactic experience, generational, immaculate. The flavor was so vivid and strong. A perfect drink to accompany this food. Next the Thali plate, which had a vast range of flavor. I know my words are dry when describing this, but the entire plate has extreme taste range. The Sexy Fries were very unique because of the topping, spicy lamb. Have YOU had lamb on your fries? It was fire, literally, because it easily very spicy! And last but not least, the samosas. They weren't the best thing we had, but they were delicious! The sauces worked incredibly well (as they should) with the potatoey texture and flavor. But overall this place is jam packed with flavor, ambiance and culture. Do Not Sleep On This Place! Curry Up and get on over here!

Yelp
Great flavor and huge servings. Consistently well spiced, never bland, and so far always delicious. The team has been really nice and happy to explain dishes and names.

Kehl H.

Yelp
I can't stop going because the food is delicious and the service shows that the employees have so much care along with the amazing interior design choices.

Yelp
Brought a friend with me on my 3rd visit, and my friend found the burrito she had ordered too spicy for her liking. I told an employee, Kacey- whom I had spoken with on a previous visit, and Kacey got my friend a less spicy burrito for free. Kacey went above and beyond service wise, and all the food we had gotten was delicious! Will definitely be back! (Definitely be sure to try the Sexy Nachos and Naughty Naan)
google avatar

Tejas K.

Yelp
Had their tandoor spiced chicken sandwich.. delicious! I will be going back to try their burritos.

Amanda T.

Yelp
Paid $15 for this to go - very small portion of chicken - mostly rice - not worth it. Tasted ok but would not come back based on portion size and cost. Service was good and place was very clean.

Deborah D.

Yelp
We saw this place as we were driving by and decided to stop for dinner. We were greeted when we came in, it smelled amazing. They explained the menu, the food came out quickly and was hot and so tasty! Excellent food and Excellent service. Definitely coming back! So so good!

Jlynn J.

Yelp
Food is amazing, the music is nice, and the service is excellent! Casey at the register was knowledgeable about the menu, incredibly helpful, and full of personality. 10/10 experience, we will definitely be back!

Marc S.

Yelp
I was at the Durham location this afternoon. The service is great, the staff were familiar with the cuisine they served and were eager to explain about the food. The atmosphere/ambiance is informal, in a family friendly kind of way. The place was very clean and attractively laid out. They don't advertise it, but the food is more Indian fusion, which I happened to enjoy. Brought home a Rogan Josh burrito for my son, he wolfed it down with great praise. I hope they can open a franchise in Chapel Hill!

Just M.

Yelp
Recommend from a co- worker. The food is amazing I had the Deconstructed Somosa, it is delicious perfect amount of spices. The gentleman that greeted me and helped me in placing order was very kind and helpful. I 100% recommend this restaurant and I will return to try more of their foods.

Aida C.

Yelp
Excellent experience. Food taste was great. Highly recommend the chicken sandwich. Can wait to try some other dishes in the future

Yelp
we have not eaten such bad Indian foo. We ordered 6 different items and not even one thing was eatable don't waste your time

Yelp
The vegetarian options were delish, and the customer service was amazing. As a first timer, they offered a sample, and itbwas delightful!
