Today’s lunch spot was chosen by my friend and her friend to meet at and catch up. If you can’t tell by the pictures and name, this place is a quirky Mexican-Indian fusion restaurant tailored for a social media aesthetic. I ordered the lamb burrito on flour tortilla. Regarding the food, the burrito is a large portion size. It’s quite filling so it’ll likely leave you satisfied. The lamb was tender with a bit of a kick. The rice and chickpeas were also very flavorful. The only reason I give 4/5 stars is because I’ve had better Indian food elsewhere. It’s lacking relative to other restaurants, but still objectively good I think. The atmosphere is pretty nice; there’s music playing and large windows with a view of the street. The table and environment are pleasant and conducive to long post-meal conversations. Overall, the restaurant’s atmosphere, service, and food are good; it’s a pleasant experience eating here. However, if I’m back in San Francisco, I don’t think I’d choose this place over trying new restaurants.

Google
Great experience. Very inventive, colorful place. Unique. Food is very good. Not necessarily authentic- thats sort of the point- many variations and interesting combos! Service great. We got a lovely young lady from Honduras 🇭🇳.

Google
Food is good, but not consistent. We always order the Veg Kathi Roll and Guacamole Sev Puri, but sometimes certain ingredients are left out. My friend got stale fries with his tikka masala order. You have to be very careful with what you also get from their menu too, only certain dishes are good.

Google
I ordered a dish of Nan with chicken curry on top. The way it was baked it was like a Indian pizza. It came out oven hot, a bit spicy and super tasty. For the price it was very reasonable. The cashier was friendly and helpful with the food description.

Google
so delicious! this heart burrito bursts with flavor and I loved every bite of it. the service as well was very good and having free chai and cookies were a great waiting snack, very gracious to give my friend some too even tho he didn't purchase anything. love coming here and look forward to eating again

Google
Skimpy on the amount of chicken& rice, but the flavour was still there. $18 chicken tikka masala bowl..pretty good. Nice clean big space, with indoor only seating, wheelchair friendly

Google
About the Indian Restaurant: My experience at this Indian restaurant was nothing short of disappointing. While the lively ambiance, adorned with paintings on the walls, initially caught my eye, the overall taste left much to be desired. The place seemed promising but fell flat in execution. About the Food: The hakka noodles were rather lackluster, failing to impress in any way. The samosa chat, which I was looking forward to, turned out to be a major disappointment. Among the dishes, the dessert daal halwa was the only saving grace, offering a decent flavor. The lackluster taste across multiple dishes left me feeling very disappointed. The experience was far from satisfactory, and I can't help but give this Indian restaurant a two-star rating.

Google
We had an amazing dining experience. The pani puri and samosa chat were exceptional, bursting with flavors. Special thanks for the delightful surprise of free chai and cookies, a perfect ending to a delicious meal. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
This spot has plenty of seating, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a table. The service is top-notch! Peter, the store manager, was incredibly welcoming and made sure we were well taken care of -- truly a great host. The food is consistently solid. I've had the Tikka Masala Burrito before (with added spice), and it definitely packs some heat but is super tasty and filling. If you're new to Curry Up Now, I'd recommend starting with that. This time, I was just in the mood for a snack, so we went with the Peri Peri Fries and Holy Moly Fried Ravioli -- both were delicious, especially with the sauces they came with. Overall, a great spot for a quick and satisfying meal. Thanks again, Peter!

Yelp
Spacious and clean, curry up now is a street food, sit down restaurant with a full bar. On the sign, it shows there's happy hour plus free chai with a parle g cracker! The chai is a bit spicy but great for a cold day. The chicken kebab was tender and tasty. The entree came with 6 patties, naan, and a choice of daal, Chana masala or rice. I love that they give you options for the side. I also ordered a side of Chana masala, which came in a cup and was $6. Overall, quick, clean, and yummy.

Yelp
Not a huge fan of their chicken tikka masala burrito. Was kinda sweet and chicken had a weird taste

Yelp
Good Indian food available on Valencia (and the occasional food truck). My personal favorites are the mini samosas and the chicken tikka masala burrito (anything in burrito form immediately gets a thumbs up from me). The employees have been very friendly to me every time I've been there. The location is often quite empty (likely because other people like me just grab items to-go) but is a fairly bright and inviting space.

Yelp
Saw this go from a single scrappy food truck to a thriving franchise. Happy they didn't give up their signature playful dishes like Tikka Masala Burritos, Naughty Naan, and Sexy Fries, alongside their traditional Indian street food such as pani puri and bhel puri.
google avatar

Yelp
Note: Restaurant accepts 1 DoorDash dine-in discount per party, even if you are ordering separate (eg double date). Just an FYI Location: convenient on Valencia, easy public transit Ambiance: spacious, quiet (except for music), empty, casual Parking: limited Seating: indoor only, lots of seats Food was extremely quick to come out. Mango lassi was okay- I would prefer if it didn't come in a single-use bottle, especially for dining in. Chicken tikka masala bowl with lentils was also okay. The chicken tikka was spicy but not as spiced as I would have liked. I also prefer a more creamy (rather than more tomato) based tikka. Lentils were okay, not the most flavorful. Deconstructed samosas were the best dish I tried, would recommend if you go to Curry Up Now. It was quite a large and filling portion, and had lots of flavor from the various sauces & toppings.

Yelp
Had some fast made Indian food at this place in the Mission District. It may have been fast but the quality didn't seem to be affected negatively. Curry Up Now is a good place if you're in a hurry. Of course you want to take enough time to enjoy it. There's plenty for meat eaters and vegetarians both to get some good stuff. A pretty slick looking inside and it looked like it could have been a chain. It's not though as this is the only location. There's a counter at front to make orders. After this you go wait and wait for the order to be called. They provide free chai tea. Had us quite a bit. It's about $16 for a meal. For sure kind of expensive. The portions are big though. I had the Hella Vegan Bowl. This is chana masala with chutney, pico, samosas, and vegetables. A pretty spicy and tasty combination. There's a few other plant based options. Good for those okay with Americanized Indian food. It's for sure not authentic but it has the spiciness you associate with it. There's plenty of choices for vegans and vegetarians.

Yelp
I had a friend who raved about this place so I gave it a try because I enjoy both curry and Mexican food, and I was not disappointed! Staff was kind and remembered, my friend, which made the experience that much more pleasant. Did I mention they make curry burritos here? The decor is nice and Indian themed (though the vibe was not quite so culture focused). Anyway, it was a super cool experience and I would definitely come again!

Yelp
I got the naan & friends tikka masala. Wish they had more protein than daal, but otherwise, I absolutely love how they had a container that divided everything into different compartments - super cute and felt like a bento box!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for casual (and sometimes quirky) Indian food, this is the perfect place. It's quick and casual and has some great options. Also really liked the cocktails here.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. I recently came here and ordered the tikka masala burrito and it was very good and filling! I love Indian burritos and they have several different flavors! They also have a lot of interesting things that I need to come back to try - like the Naughty Naan (Indian pizza) and Tandoori Fried Chicken Sandwich. The cashier was nice and they have a nice ambience inside!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the chicken tikka masala burrito at Curry Up Now! The only thing is that i'm at a food coma in the office later, lol! It's super filling and so flavorful--sometimes I even get cauliflower rice to lighten it up!
google avatar

Claudine R.

Yelp
I've only been to this place 1 time. It's spacious and the menu is quite big, there should be something for everyone. I like that they have an app and you can earn points to get discounts on food. I had the chicken tikka masala burrito. It was good but not my favorite chicken tikka. I think I would be back and try something else.

Yelp
Our favorite Indian fusion restaurant in Bay Area. Food never disappoints, service is really quick and staff is friendly.

Yelp
LOVED our experience & very much enjoyed the food at Curry Up Now. Great lunch spot in the Mission. Food & Drink - tried so many delicious takes on classic Indian dishes, "street food style", samosas, biryani, cauliflower... Everything was delicious! Highly recommend trying the "deconstructed samosa" - SO GOOD! Service - nothing memorable, order at the counter & then self seating! Ambiance - indoor & outdoor seating, lots of space to sit, very casual atmosphere. Would absolutely go back again & would recommend to anyone in the area for a quick or casual bite of delicious Indian food!

Yelp
I recently ordered the Pav Bhaji from here and loved it. The Bhaji was flavorful and the Pav were toasted nicely. Only con- I wish they wouldn't throw the side of lemon wedge into the Bhaji for delivery orders so it could actually be used. Also, a side of cilantro would've been nice.

Yelp
First time trying it. Delicious! Got the butter chicken burrito and it hit the spot. Perfectly seasoned rice and chicken. Seemed pretty laid back and modern in there. Food was ordered online and it was quick. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Jerry O.

Yelp
Solid all the way around. Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, Daal and Mini Samosas over a bed of perfectly cooked basmati rice. Excellent flavor profiles with unctuous gravies. Very friendly and accommodating staff. It's a regular on my mission district rotation.
google avatar

Yelp
Great Fusion place! We had Samosa Chaat and Paneer Saag with Paneer butter masala thaali. The waitress suggested to have it with garlic chilli naan and it turned out to be delicious! Quantity was really good as well. Definitely worth the price and hype! Among the top indian food places in the city for me yet!
google avatar

Yelp
Yum! I used to live in India and it's so hard to find dahi puri anywhere. This inclusive spot on Valencia is a must visit. The food is fresh and the ambiance is inviting. 10/10 recommend and can't wait to come back when I have a bigger appetite so I can try the butter paneer biryani. Yum!

Yelp
An interesting fast casual Indian fusion spot with pretty cute signs decor. The menu items are all pretty interesting. They have some fusion-y options like fries and burritos, but they also have different thali and pani puri and pav bhaji, which I do think is hard to find sometimes. I tried the deconstructed samosa which intrigued me, and it was not bad. We also tried a couple of their curries (the saag and the chicken tikka masala which comes in the punjabi by nature bowl) and the portions were pretty generous. They also have free chai if you ask! It's definitely a cool concept but I think I prefer some of the less fusion-y Indian spots in the Mission, so I'm not sure I would come back.
google avatar

Loreto D.

Yelp
The Punjabi by Nature is my go to dish here. I get it vegetarian style and it is just full of delicious flavors! I love that they serve their dishes with a free chai all day. And yes, the chai is even good and it will wake you up!
google avatar

Sandy L.

Yelp
Placed a DoorDash order for pick up. Ordered the lamb bowl with lentils. No exaggeration, not a single piece of lamb in the lamb curry but several chunks of potatoes. Flavor was lacking. Portion was small for the price and especially so given the lack of the protein paid for. Restaurant was pretty empty but kitchen looked busy with delivery orders, I assume. Waited a bit to be helped but service was friendly enough. Maybe their more signature dishes are better but I'm hard pressed to try. Extremely disappointed.

Yelp
Kind of a post-covid review of Curry Up Now since I don't get to the Mission much anymore these days but love this location. It was mid-afternoon and I was running an errand and the place was empty but it had been a couple years so I popped in and order the classic Chicken Tikka Masala as well as 2 Samosas to go for my dinner and since Chai Tea is free, I had some Chai Tea on this chilly day while I sat there waiting. I would normally get their Sexy Fries but I am one of those people who likes to eat only fresh hot fries and they wouldn't have lasted til dinner. I was talking to the cooks while I waited and they were saying a lot of people like me were coming back after not having been there since Covid.

Yelp
Super delicious and healthy options! Very clean and the service was friendly. It feels like people who work here care about what they do. Overall such a great value and a nice experience eating in!

Yelp
Fun vibe, friendly service, and huge menu of tasty food and drinks. Great for groups and casual dates. We easily found space for 8 on a Friday night around 9pm. We enjoyed the vada pav, papdi chaat, deconstructed samosas, ghee butter makhni paneer, death by tikka masala, and house made mango lassi.
google avatar

Pree K.

Yelp
Always excellent! I love Curry Up Now, and this location seems to have a slightly more extensive menu. Their food is very flavorful, comes out piping hot! My classic go-tos here are the Kathi rolls, the chai, and the daal halwa. My goodness, they are good. They always hit the spot, and have never disappointed. Staff were nice as well! It's a good size place in a fun neighborhood. Definitely ups the Indian food game in SF.

Yelp
I ordered takeout after a recommendation from a friend who orders from Curry up now all the time. Came across a deal on Uber Eats for a buy one get one free box set of one burrito, one samosa, and cookies. I ordered the tikka masala, and ordered the lamb burrito. Absolutely loved it, especially the tikka masala.

Yelp
Decent Indian food. Cauliflower rice option nice for low carb. Fast and tasty. Would eat here again.

Yelp
Located in the heart of Mission- on Valencia Street. Curry Up Now serves fusion Indian food. I have ordered from DoorDash before and I was really happy with the quality of the food. Had ordered the Deconstructed samosa and the Chicken tikka masala burrito roll. Both the items were delicious. I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant yesterday with my husband in the evening. This is a self service kind of place where you have to go to the counter and order. The lady at the counter was friendly and offered us free Chai with Parle G biscuits. I love Parle g biscuits and it reminded me of my childhood. The restaurant has a nice vibe and a great menu of food as well as drinks. We ordered the Pani Puri since I was really craving for it and the Chicken tikka masala burrito. We also ordered a Mango Lassi which was delectable. Both the food items were absolutely delicious. The Pani Puri was one of the best I have had in the Bay Area and every ingredient was very fresh. The chicken tikka burrito I have had before and it tasted better when it comes out hot and fresh. This restaurant definitely gives you great quality of food at a very affordable price. I would love to come back and try the naughty naan and the vada pav on their menu. Would highly recommend this to everyone who loves a little twist while eating Indian food.

Yelp
The Tikka Masala Bowl with Paneer was delicious. I didn't like the daal that came with it, though maybe I don't like daal anywhere anyway. Friendly staff and fast service. Variety of seating options for casual dining.
google avatar

Ruchita L.

Yelp
Good food but they kept rushing to clear our plates before we were done eating. It was a Tuesday. 7 30 pm so not close to closing time and no line of patrons waiting to get in. Only one other couple eating. Shit service unfortunately.

Yelp
On a recent trip to San Francisco, I was struck how much had changed and closed in center city. I was thankful then to find the Valencia area thriving with bustling restaurants, bars, and venues, many with outdoor seating. It's vibrant and diverse; there's something for everyone. After a stop at the City Beer Store nearby, I was hungry and craving something filling so I was happy to find Curry Up Now, a fast street food style Indian burrito place (bonus point for the pun). I stopped in and perused the menu; many tables were filled with happy diners. I ordered one of the street burritos and was going to take it to go when I spotted they had an Indian beer I never tried so I dined in at the counter. The staff were friendly and super busy with a ton of takeout orders and stream of delivery people coming to pick them up. The burrito was huge, filled with vegetables and flavorful curry. It hit the spot and the beer was a great bonus to wash it down. If you're in the area, I recommend this place and look forward to visiting again soon!

Yelp
Ordered through the app Too Good To Go and received a hefty and tasty portion of chicken tikka masala and paneer. It was my first time trying Curry Up Now so I was really glad I had the chance to do so via the above app as I was really impressed with the food and would go again! The chicken tikka masala was packed with flavor and was creamy, lightly spiced, earthy, and with a little bit of smokieness. I was especially hungry that night and it was the perfect taste and sensation to have me feeling full and satisfied. Pickup from the restaurant was very easy. It's located on Valencia and I was able to park right in front of the restaurant along the street. It was after 9pm on a weekday and the streets were too full. When I went inside, the team was quick to gather my order and bring to me and I was literally in and out within 2 min.
google avatar

Vanessa C.

Yelp
I still remember when they first started off as only a food truck . I wasn't the biggest fan of their tikka masala burrito back then but recently tried some of their other offerings and am a fan. This location on Valencia is pretty spacious, with a couple of outdoor tables. We opted to sit outside since the weather wasn't too bad and we wanted to people-watch. Their menu has something for everyone - there are those items you would see at typical Indian restaurants, some items are plays off of more traditional items, and some are ventures into the Indian street food realm. I can't say how authentic their flavors are, but I've enjoyed most of what I've tried. The Deconstructed Samosa is always my tummy pleaser. The only complaint I have is that both of the dishes we had on our most recent visit came somewhat lukewarm. I love that they offer complimentary chai and cookies to go along with your meal - perfect accompaniments! I also love when food is colorful and the food here is definitely that.
google avatar

Connie L.

Yelp
I ordered a ton of UberEats in the last few years and almost addicted to food delivery service. Today I decided to try this because the promos said it is buy one get one free. My favorite has always been butter Chicken or Chicken Tikka Masala. Curry up now even offered the gluten free options. I don't care for that option gluten even though I should. The ambiance looks pretty decent with the marble like table and located in the infamous Valencia street with great food in the western side of the Mission district. Food itself - light spicy, sure you can upgrade to medium and hot but since I've been eating lots of Indian spice, best to order mind to stretch out my time. White chicken, quite a bit of portion of white meat and good taste, ingredients fresh and strong, lots of long rice or too much for my taste since I'm mostly on low carb diet nowadays. Beans okay, I prefer them to be replaced by more chicken but pretty good in taste and grind out in paste for easy consumption. I can taste the content without the favor being too strong. Quick service and delivery on the delivery person's part!
google avatar

Jonathan V.

Yelp
I ordered twice on the night of the 14th through uber eats, both times I did not received my order. Idk if it was uber's fault or the restaurants, but there has to be better control of the situation in both ends. I spoke on the phone with a young woman from the restaurant who tried to explain, and she said it was like the 5th order they had stolen... anyways long story short it was already 11pm and no food in haND (keep in mind i ordered around 8pm) So, I had to go to bed hangry. Would I order from this restaurant again? I don't think so, very disappointing experience...
google avatar

Yelp
Curry Up Now does Indian Fusion, so it's a fun menu to explore, plus when the weather is nice this section of Valencia has a great energy with both locals & visitors creating a party atmosphere. Tonight though I was picking up a Paneer Curry Bowl, and happily parking was easy though that might have been influenced by the light rain. The host was pleasant, and my order was ready upon my entrance. Nice thing about the space was that it was warm and inviting with an ability to accommodate large groups. Upon arrival at home my meal was still warm, the Paneer Curry full of spice , but not heat. The portion was generous, and each component including the rice well cooked. In short it was a nice meal on a cold rainy night. Important to note they also host Brunch, and have a nice drinks menu.
google avatar

Justin W.

Yelp
Chicken 65 (69) was somewhat bland but was made a bit better with tamarind sauce from the chicken sandwich. Deconstructed Samosa was tasty. However, the service was extremely slow for a few pieces of chicken; the restaurant did offer to make up for this while paying the bill, but at that point I needed to head out and couldn't quite wait for another order.
google avatar

Lisa T.

Yelp
This is for take out. The service wasn't the friendliest, but it was efficient. I'm on a special diet and the paleo bowl fit the bill. I'd definitely come back again for the food. It's delicious and reasonably priced.

Yelp
Located in the Mission is this spot right next to Valencia Room. We stopped by here for a small bite to eat before going out. They have plenty of indoor seating and lots of door dashers coming in. They don't have a cocktails available but they have some bottled beer and cider. They have serve your own glasses and water. We just ordered some garlic spicy naan and sexy fries. The naan was pretty spicy and had a kick. The sexy fries had like chicken tikka masala and sweet potato waffle fries, also had a little kick to it. I thought I ordered a samosa but I guess I didn't. I also got their guava cider in a can and it was pretty good! It's hard to find parking in the Mission, so you usually have to park far and walk. Service was quick!
google avatar

Connie N.

Yelp
I love Indian street food. Pani Puri to me is the perfect bite. You get the soft garbanzo and potato filling with the crispy semolina puris then top it off with tamarind water - what could be better! We also ordered the Vada Pav (mashed potato fritter with garlic chutney on a buttered bun) - perfectly spiced perfection and samosas (standard samosa, piping hot). Def would recommend making a pit stop. They also seem to have a craft cocktail/mortar pestle bar inside!

Yelp
Curry Up Now was initiated first by food truck in Burlingame, California in 2009. It was founded by husband-wife duo Rana and Akash Kapoor. The first restaurant was opened in San Mateo, California in 2011. Curry Up Now serves innovative and creative Indian street food such as deconstructed samosa and fusion burrito. They frequent in television and other media for their out-of-the-box food creations. Inside feels casual and welcoming. It is also super clean inside. My order took long, 10 minutes maybe, and there were only three other customers in tables inside. Not sure if staff was slow or if there is a shortage. Otherwise, there are no other things on my experience here. I tried the deconstructed samosa and it filled my stomach up. I loved how there were smashed samosas underneath the toppings and mini samosas on the top. I never had anything like this before and it was surprisingly good as is interesting. There are a few vegan options, but not many. I probably may not come back as there aren't too much vegan options while there are many other Indian restaurants that offer that for me.
google avatar

Sakthi S.

Yelp
Love this place exclusively for the deconstructed samosa!! I love the mini samosas on top, but also how they pack so much flavor into everything. Been here quite a few times and every time I've tried something else I haven't thought it worthy of 5 stars. Service is super quick and you can sit both indoors and outdoors. I haven't seen it super busy, ever! Also would consider trying to tikka masala burritos or the fried ravioli. Those are close runner ups :)

Yelp
Had issues ordering through app and applying rewards. Called in and the cashier assisted promptly. By the time we walked in, food was ready. The cashier with glasses & manager named Peter helped apply the reward in store. Very efficient process. Food was good as usual. Thank you!
google avatar

Gina M.

Yelp
Food was great as always but the cashier/server was very rude. She acted very annoyed when we asked questions about the menu, and never said anything like "thank you" or "welcome." Customer service skills weren't present at all.
google avatar

Emily F.

Yelp
Such a great place and hadn't been in awhile. Everyone was very friendly, food was quick, large portions, full of flavor, and prices were good. We got the sexy fries with chicken and loved the sauce and meat was tender and juicy. The fries were great too and not too soggy despite the topping. The kathi roll is always quite filling as well. The lamb was great and the 'chips' it comes with are a nice crunchy snack. I'd come here again and have gotten this delivery and great too.

Lillian C.

Yelp
Ordered online. Food was ready on arrival and pleasantly presented to me. Cute little drawing on my packaging for a special touch. Food was delicious.
