Denver’s Top Sandwich Shops | Eater Denver

"Curtis Park Deli serves craveable combinations of meats and bread inside a quaint location. A neighborhood favorite is the Curtis, made with corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island. The Park, a breakfast-for-lunch sandwich, is made with a fried egg, prosciutto, white cheddar cheese, and butter." - Rebecca Treon

I'll start with the food: it was a pretty solid/ good sandwich. Mind blowing? No, not at all. The bread is very "crusty" and the chips are very thick and almost painful to eat as well. However, this is the style of newer/ upscale deli. My meal, with a tip, was just under $27. This is high for a turkey sandwich. But what really gets me was how rude and arrogant the staff was. No "hello" - but he sure did make a point to point out the 25% tip option. When I left, the cashier also cut me off from exiting which was also odd. No "excuse me" or "thanks for coming in." At the price point, this place needs to get some much better service and much better ambience. The staff was so negative that I really didnt even want to finish my $27 meal there. Suffice it to say wouldn't tell people to not go there- but be prepared to spend an exorbitant amount of money on a sandwich and to be borderline disrespected. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Google
A place you gotta check out. the freshest ingredients, great ambiance, awesome customer service. I got the American. Bread is super doughy and fresh, cheese and mayo go great together, and a soft and flavorful cut of turkey. One of the best sandwiches I’ve had. Thanks for the treat!

Google
Stopped in on a Monday afternoon for a sub. Took about 2 minutes for my food to be ready. It was delicious and the bread was fresh. I had the Italian but there are a few other options on the menu that look very solid as well.

Google
A great little sandwich joint using high quality ingredients. Suggest the Frenchie w the many layers of Niman ham. Great balance with the pop of mustard.

Google
Had an absolutely delicious sandwich here recently. All three of us in our party were so happy with the freshness of the ingredients and the care shown to preparing our lunches. But the best part of this place was the staff, who were so bright and kind and were a wonderful welcome to us as we arrived in Denver from the East Coast. Thank you!

Google
Classic deli sandwich spot and one of the best in Denver. My favorites are the Italian, Park, American & Beef. You can’t go wrong with any of those. And don’t forget to ask about the seasonal special. On top of that, every great sandwich starts with the bread and they have some of the best. Always fresh ingredients. Always loaded sandwiches. On the pricey side (as is everything in Denver now). But I go back often!

Google
Best deli sandwhiches we've ever had. We had the Italian and the American. Sliced to order meats and cheeses on fresh bread. Definitely make their own aioli, which we respect and appreciate. The vibe was chill and welcoming. We sat and ate inside. Awesome "hole in the wall" atmosphere. Enjoyed it so much we tipped twice.

Google
5 star = perfect. This place was damn good, id give it 4.5 if I could. I got the italian sandwich. The bread was fresh and crispy. Fantastic cuts of deli meat. The arugula fresh. As an Italian from the east coast, this deli feels like home. But what kept it from being a 5 star sandwich for me was the aioli, was a bit overwhelming and took away from the flavor of the deli meats. Next time Id like to try the Caprese sangweech. Mangia 🤌

Yelp
the most delicious sandwiches in denver. the trout sandwich is super unique and tasty. the staff are amazing and super nice. they have two locations, and are very flexible when it comes to additions or subtractions. they have a good selection of chips and healthy drinks. highly recommended!!

Yelp
Great sandwich with a generous amount of sauce. This thing wouldn't be dry if you left it in the Mojave desert for a week and thats a good thing. Come check this out and get satiated by a sando

Yelp
Found this establishment via a Yelp search and decided to check it out. We tried the American, Beef and the Fish. All were superb. The prices were more reasonable than what many reviews suggested. I had never tried a smoked trout ('fish' sandwich) and it was sensational. I only took 1 picture and it doesn't do it justice, so just go and try it for yourself.

Yelp
Time for someone to check their ego. Cashier was quite rude. I made a take out order for a turkey sandwich , gf and I are splitting it. There's a section on take out menu to add on things , remove , extra charges and what not . Note to staff, "please put Gouda on side." Not a crazy request. Not a hard request . Very easy to accommodate . The sandwich only has 7 ingredients turkey, greens , bread, tomato, onion, mayo and cheese . But mine only came wit six . I enter, I give my name and cashier say we don't do anything On side here . You don't want cheese on sandwich we don't put it on side here. That's it. No sorry , no explanation why , no kindness, no customer service, worst of all no thank you for my patronage. - let's be very clear- I'm okay with restaurants that don't accommodate change orders - but set the expectations , if you don't take changes to order , why is there a section on take out menu for requests if you just are gonna ignore them . Ambiance is non existing. . It's a wooden table outside of kitchen . Food is delicious but cashier staff needs to check their ego at the door .

Yelp
First of all the guy taking orders is horrible. I ordered a sandwich and felt disrespected. I moved from Philly and would never bring my people here. If you want to buy 15 dollars for bread no meats or barely or no I would say NO! Horrible attitude and bad sandwich. Never again.

Yelp
Good lord these sandwiches are amazing. I tried the ham & brie and the turkey and they were both so delicious. My new favorite sandwich spot!

Yelp
This place was when I came here 10-15 years ago. Just visited again and the quality is still there. Freshest ingredients, amazing ciabatta. Literally on my top 5 Sammy spots in the country.

Yelp
Spring has sprung & Curtis Park will be my go to grab and go sandwich all summer long. Got the caprese and added turkey and this has got to be one of my favorite delis in Denver. Cute outdoor patio seating simple menu with kick ass options. Friendly staff and awesome sandos if you haven't gone go! This place is legit.

Yelp
Best sandwiches. My teen son wants to work here so he could learn how to make such delicious sandwiches. My only gripe is the insane prices. Sandwich prices don't include chips ambiance is fine. Sometimes I sit at a table outside but I mostly pick up for picnics...

Yelp
Looking for a great local sandwich? Or maybe you're trying to find your new favorite lunch spot. Either way this is it. Fun neighborhood vibe matched with an awesome crew of workers who give you an authentic deli experience. Must try: Italian sandwich. That said, you can't go wrong here.
google avatar

Yelp
This was easily the best sandwich I've had in Denver. They slice the deli meat fresh and make each sandwich fresh. They have great gluten free bread too! The vibes feel like you stumbled into a humble New York sandwich shop, but are about to have the best sandwich if your life. The staff is friendly, the place looks very unassuming and simple, but their product is stellar. This is such a great neighborhood spot!

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place and was surprised it had a 30 min wait for a sandwich. There seemed to be a lot of locals coming in and out so we decided to wait. The meat was very fresh and tasty but I did not like that ciabatta is the only bread option. I tried some of the cheeses they sold and they had a wonderful goat cheese and Havarti. I wouldn't wait here again or pay this price for just a sandwich again though. All the ingredients seemed very fresh, it had a tasty aioli.

Monica F.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in Denver that we've tried since living in the area for over a year. They use excellent fresh baked bread from an artisanal bakery. Super tasty and the Denver brand sea salt potato chips they sell are the best chips I've ever tasted, legit! Bravo, Curtis Park!
google avatar

Yelp
Our office frequently has lunch delivered in from here - we love the variety of choices and they aren't just the same old sandwich choices. The fish sandwich is my current favorite! (Smoked rainbow trout, *house-made aioli, blue cheese, capers, red onion, arugula, olive oil, lemon juice)

Letitia S.

Yelp
Can you guys wear hair/beard nets? I got the most delicious roast beef sandwich here, like 5/5, and my kid got a turkey sandwich, we found 3 short hairs in his sandwich. Super unsettling.
google avatar

Camilla A.

Yelp
The best deli in Denver!! Their bread is so good and all the ingredients taste so fresh. The only spot I go to when im craving a sandwich! Try their mystery sandwich -- it's chef choice so it always changes but it's always been a hit.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
We have found our new lunch hang and we aren't sad about it. This little shop uses only the highest level of ingredients and has a great selection of drinks and chips as well. I personally love how local it all is as the brands are what you would find at Whole Foods. Great patio spot on a hot day as well.

Yelp
Sooo don't tell NY Deli ... But the corn beef and Curtis park pastrami is on par if not better here. If you like that classic French bread that is hard on the outside but not too hard and soft on the inside, it's literally perfect here.
google avatar

Danielle O.

Yelp
The Italian sub made to my all time favorite. The bread was perfect and the meats were high quality. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Would recommend to anyone in Denver area.

Yelp
Interesting experience here... My friend and I were biking and found this place and decided to take a break and get some sandwiches. Reviews were very positive as well so we were excited to check it out. Unfortunately, we did not have bike locks with us and that part of downtown Denver has quite a bit of theft issues so we decided to walk in with our bikes and ask if it was ok if we set them by the door. A man behind the counter, before we could ask, immediately points to the door and yells "This is Curtis Park Delicatessen! You don't bring bikes in here! Have some respect!" We biked elsewhere.

Yelp
Neighborhood favorite - best gf sandwich bread I've tried in Denver ! Nice guys & great sandwiches, highly recommend

Yelp
Best sandwich I have had in Denver, possibly ever. We ordered the French and Italian sandwiches and every ingredient just felt so fresh and high quality. The bread, so incredible. Service was great as well, felt right at home as soon as we walked in. There is seating inside or outside to enjoy your meal. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not normally a fan of sandwiches, but I drive by Curtis Park Delicatessen almost every day, and it kept calling to me. I finally caved in and stopped by for an Italian sandwich before work. Sooo good! Soft, fresh bread and produce. Came here another time for a tasty pop while my friend got her sandwich to go. We sat outside. Orders can take awhile, but good things come to those that wait. Truly the best kind of local eatery!

Yelp
One bite in and the regret instantly started taking over....out of all of my turkey-sandwich-eating years on earth, WHY have I never blessed my taste buds with smoked gouda?! I initially felt bad for ordering the American, arguably the most "boring" sandwich on the menu, but wow that was one heck of a sandwich. I'm a believer that the bread is the basis for a good sandwich, and Curtis Park Deli knocks the bread out of the park. My sandwich was massive, loaded with turkey, greens, smoked gouda, and tomato, all tied together with some killer aioli. I loved every single bite and let out several audible "yummm"s. Oh I will be back!
google avatar

Charlie B.

Yelp
Unfortunately did not get the opportunity to eat here due to the incredibly rude employee who answered the phone on 5/10 who when asked if you had corned beef sandwiches responded in an extremely rude tone "ugh check the menu " I was driving and did not have an opportunity to pull over and navigate to the website. I guess I will never be going here
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Small place. They make it a point to sell locally sourced chips and drinks which is great but the vibe you get from the guy with slick black hair is not welcoming. I read another review of the bikers that doesn't surprise me. Sandwich was not bad overall, but definitely felt like "hurry up, give me your money, get out of my face" atmosphere.

Yelp
We were out exploring Denver and Yelp told us the top rated spot was Curtis Park Deli so we headed over to give it a try. We placed our order at the counter and took a seat to wait. They were pretty busy and let us know it may be about 20 minutes or so. The food came out pretty quickly in comparison though which was nice. We ordered one American and one Italian sandwich, iced tea, and grabbed a bag of Denver Chip Co chips. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious! The meats and cheese used were very high quality. You could taste Asiago (Italian) and Gouda (American) with every bite. The chips were also some of the best I've had! Also, the gentleman taking orders and running out food to the tables was fantastic. Didn't catch his name but very friendly and helpful the whole time! Definitely recommend swinging by for a fantastic sandwich!
google avatar

Yelp
Loved our turkey sandwich -- great bread for sure. Also enjoyed chips, a Rocky Mountain Rootbeer (almost as good as Saranac in NYS), and a chocolate chip cookie! These guys make great sandwiches! Thank you!

Yelp
I am shocked at any reviews under 5 on this place. This is my favorite delicatessen on the planet with the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life and I've been all over the world!!!! This is a craft delicatessen. The bread is baked fresh daily from City Bakery. They do not have tons of bread options, just one. This is THEIR recipe. No preservatives, nothing canned, everything is FRESH! Once the bread is gone, they're sold out! I understand folks wanting things their way, add this, add that, etc., however, these are delicious, recipe specific sandwiches that are amazing AS-IS. Ciabatta is a thick wonderful bread that makes one heck of a sandwich! So for all of you complainers on this place, here's a few tips: 1. Allergies/alternative options- READ THE MENU IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY/OTHER OPTION CONCERN PRIOR TO ORDERING!!! 2. PRICES - DO NOT GIVE A BAD REVIEW SOLELY BASED ON PRICE! Check out the prices before stopping in then complaining about it! You don't have to buy the sandwich! I will however pay top dollar for the best sandwich of my life! $15 for the best sandwich, isn't bad! 3. Bread - complaining about no other options when this is their recipe is just dumb. Also, check the toppings or additions on their website when ordering. If you want something they don't have, why are you asking for it, then complaining that they don't have it? They're right, this isn't subway, it's better! Common sense people!‍ I love this place and always will. I am not affiliated to them other than my affinity for phenomenal sandwiches. I hope most will overlook the unreasonable bad reviews!

Yelp
I'm not sure there's a better sandwich place around than Curtis park! I've literally had just about everything on the menu - my favorite is the Italian. Last week - I decided to try their 'mystery' sandwich - highly recommend - it was soooo good! Just share any allergies - and they create you something off menu. The freshly baked ciabatta bread is also really delicious.
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
A year later and I would make a pilgrimage for this Italian sandwich. If food can be life changing - this makes the cut. Pro Tip: if you're picking up DO NOT order via GrubHub on Yelp. You'll pay about $5 more per sandwich and the guys inside will let you KNOW about it. Call them directly to order.

Steven A.

Yelp
1/2 star. Customer service is terrible. Made a pickup order and they stated to stop "fucking"making pickup orders from third party sites. Rude, disrespectful and recommend finding a sandwich elsewhere.

David C.

Yelp
What a great sandwich - smoked trout on a ciabatta! Great food, service and vibe and I will be back...often!
google avatar

Jordan H.

Yelp
love these guys and there sandwiches :) Always fresh and fast. One of the best sandwhich spots in denver.

Heidi C.

Yelp
Amazingly good sandies with fresh ingredients and a creative spin! And to top off an all together wonderful culinary experience, the staff so delightful you won't stop smiling!

Wren T.

Yelp
Had the caprese sando and added turkey. Was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Lots of flavor and loved the aioli with the lemon from the arugula. All around amazing and can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Kenny O.

Yelp
Crazy good sandwiches. Simple but flawless. I've eaten here 3 days in a row once. I they change the menu up but at the time of writing this I'm really enjoying the French.
google avatar

Kim A.

Yelp
Fast, friendly & delicious!! You can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches here. This is my go to sandwich shop :)
google avatar

Amy Y.

Yelp
I finally got to try Curtis Park Deli! And wow, it did not disappoint. I tried the French and absolutely loved it. I was transported back to France with creamy brie, ham, sauce and greens. The bread is also worth mentioning, as it definitely brought the sandwich together. The portion size was absolutely filling. I commend Curtis Park Deli for how much brie was in my sandwich, I definitely got a taste with each bite. So so SO, good! Note: The parking lot was pretty small, but there was street paring nearby. I also ordered online and it was ready within 30 minutes. We got there a smidge early but staff was super friendly and welcoming as we waited.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Usually when you have to order a sandwich on gluten free bread you get a sad, small, stale sliced bread. Not here, they have delicious gluten free hoagie style bread. Space is limited so order online for pickup!
google avatar

Lindsey C.

Yelp
After reading so many great reviews I decided I had to give this place a try. It was ok... I ordered the French sandwich and it definitely had the potential to be great but it was just ok. Thankfully the bread was great because that's mostly what it was. The ham and Brie were flavorful but there just wasn't enough for the amount of bread. I would definitely try again in the future though as it seems it may have just been a one off miss considering all of the other great reviews and pictures.
google avatar

Joanie W.

Yelp
This place is delicious. The Curtis has nice salty, freshly sliced meat. Great ratio of fillings to bread. The Beef is also delicious. GF rolls are available and dough is nice and soft. Chips and drinks are available on site. This is truly a neighborhood establishment, the staff are friendly and recognize their repeat customers. Not a ton of inside seating and wouldn't really recommend sitting inside. Outdoor seating is plentiful and a good ambience on a neighborhood street. Ordering to go is easily done online and orders are done at the estimated time. Parking in order to pickup orders is easily done on the street (free parking).

Rawknee D.

Yelp
Really really good. One time the bread was super stale, but that was just once. Otherwise one of the best delis in denver. They should get rid of the vegetarian option though - coming from a vegetarian, that's not what vegetarians wanna eat even remotely. Oh and it's pretty pricey.
google avatar

Dave M.

Yelp
Rude af! Nobody there and I asked for the no10. Rude dude says it will be 30 min. I was are you kidding. Dude was like nope.. I just walked out.. kinda got the hipster snob vibe that a lot of the eatery's in Denver have unfortunately
google avatar

Adam M.

Yelp
This place was unexpectedly great. While the meat and toppings are high quality and tasty, the freshly baked ciabatta puts really pure these sandwiches over the top. I had the Curtis sandwich and it is the best one I've had so far during my short time in Denver. The people who work there are also very nice
google avatar

Olivia R.

Yelp
Solid place and tasty, but I think the sandwiches are overpriced. If they advertised the level of upcharge over an app, I'd be more forgiving, but I order, I get a price. (Every sandwich is about $5 more expensive more than in-store price, which I didn't realize.) More transparency would be helpful, I think. But here's what I had: - Fish Sandwich: For a cold fish sandwich, it's good! I didn't really taste the blue cheese too much, which I'd been looking forward to. But I'm sure, even if the taste is a little hidden, I'm sure the underlying saltyness it provides is essential. Not sure I'd get this again, but it was overall good. - French Sandwich: Very good! The ingredients taste fresh and top notch and well balanced. Just a great well-balanced sandwich. I'd get this again (for the in-store price).
google avatar

Ayala B.

Yelp
I CANNOT come to Denver and skip the Italian sub. Run, don't walk to this fantastic local gem. If I could eat this sandwich every day of my life, I would!! Thank me later friends...
google avatar

Tanya M.

Yelp
First time in and dang! This place is bomb! The guys working there were so nice and recommended their favorite which was the Italian! Delicious and close to my work to enjoy on my lunch break!

Colson F.

Yelp
Dropped by for a sandwich while I was in the area and was really impressed by the quick service, quality of food, and location. Highly recommend for anyone near downtown Denver, who is looking for a great sandwich!
