I was a walk-in and Jonny was able to put me in a chair with a minimum of wait. Great vibe, good music, and best of all, the best haircut I’ve had in years! Highest recommendation.

I am happy to have learned the same shop I used to go to is back in a new form. Clean shop, great service and booking experience. Got a cut from Makenna. She was nice and took in what I was trying to do with my hair. After I left, I wasn't so happy with the fad... but I was able to fix it myself. The rest of the haircut was the way I wanted it.

Okay - so... Where to start... Jonny is incredible - head to toe (looks included - you go, Jonny!). I based my choice off of Reddit thread, stating Jonny was the go-to. Of course, I had to oblige to the will of the almighty - Reddit. Jonny was patient in understanding that I wanted for MY hair, he explained what he was going to do before he did it, and his vision/execution was flawless. The MOST important qualities about Jonny: FRIENDLY, perfect at actively listening to the needs for your hair in specific, personable, well-rounded, and New York in all of the best ways possible. Jonny, if you ever read this - thank YOU for serving the New York community so well after 25+ years - keep killing it, King!

The Cut Shop is the final frontier of barber shops, especially for someone like myself. All the stylists here are S-Tier, however my mane belongs to the one and only Makenna. Finding the right hairstyle is like finding the perfect life partner. Once you meet them, you never want to let them go. Not a single lost soul on this plain of existence can do what Makenna does with my mane and beard. She has this uncanny ability to make me look Darklordesque as per my original request during our very first encounter. When we first met, I felt a sense of comfort and trust I never felt before from any stylist. Trust me when I tell you, I have been to many different stylists over the years and the trauma I experienced from bad haircuts resulted in a crippling lack of self confidence and as a result, I became the subject of verbal lashings from the cruelest creatures that I’ve ever had the displeasure of knowing. From Gumby to Forest Gump, I’ve heard it all. I am unapologetically loyal to The Cut Shop since this is her domain. It’s also a huge plus that she’s a metal head hailing from one of the gloomiest cities in the country. The haircuts I receive from Makenna always exceed my expectations. The ambience and eclectic blend of music make The Cut Shop even better, if that is even possible. Let’s not forget about the free beer while you wait. After tomcat barbershop closed, I didn't where to go. I tried a couple of places and never found something that came close to Tomcat. Took forever to realize that the team opened this shop, and I am finally back on track. My barber is still here and better than ever. The shop looks great, good price, free beer, good music! I AM BACK BABY!

Jonny has been my barber for 5 years now and he is the man. Reliable professional who gives a perfect haircut every time and has a great personality. He’s a friend and I wouldn’t let anyone else cut my hair, period. This place is so close to me so how could I not try it out? It's really easy to make same day appointments, very affordable, and they do a great job. So far Jack has been my favorite but I've seen a few people here and all came out well.

Just got my third haircut. Vibes are still immaculate and still super pleased with Jonny's skills. Will continue returning but probably more frequently because I keep letting my hair grow too long

This place is fantastic! I've only recently started coming here but Yuliy has gotten my hair cut perfectly every time. He didn't make a big deal out of my super thick super straight hair, which has been the case with some barbers in the past, and knew exactly how to handle it. This is a no fuss but still really friendly place. Yuliy also seems to be well versed in younger guy's cuts. I showed him a TikTok of the cut I wanted and he understood the assignment right away. Appointments have most of the time run late so I wouldn't plan on making this a quick trip but, considering the guys all take their time to work out a great cut, I personally don't have a problem waiting a little longer to see my barber. All in all a really welcoming and talented group of guys.

Nice place, great service. Manny is a true professional, very knowledgeable. I gave a vague description of what I wanted, and after a brief discussion, I walked out with the best haircut I ever had.

I'm new to this side of Greenpoint and wanted to take a chance on the new local barber shop down the street. Received a great covid style haircut from Johnny who took all of the precautions you would expect under the circumstances. I was the only customer in the shop for the whole duration and they had strict precautions in place (hand sanitizer before and after the cut, sanitized the station after the previous customer, and didn't use product between customers). Skilled local barbers without the unnecessary frills. Great conversation and experience all around. Definitely will be coming back.

I followed my barber Johnny here from Tomcats and this place just rocks! - The vibe is contemporary and clean - Beers and water are here if you get to your appointment early - It's a good-sized space with stations to get your fresh cut and shampoo/rinse Johnny's cuts are always excellent, that's why I followed him here! The price is slightly above other local-area barbershops, and I think it's absolutely worth paying for since they know what they're doing here. You're not just getting a quick cut here, you're getting styled and taken care of by professionals, and it makes a huge difference. I'm so stoked these guys are back in action!

Jonny is a fantastic barber. Not only has he given me the best haircut of my life, but his shop is a safe space for people of all genders, sexual orientations, and bodies! Great new old spot. Some crew members are from old place tomcats. Very good value. Great quality and service for affordable price. Interior is cool but not too cool. Too cool cost too much and might intimidate. They have beer and some cool decoration details. Variety of barbers for any style. All barbers are long time in industry and know what they are doing. I used to love tomcats so I I'm happy that cut shop is open. Great and low key atmosphere. Get haircut from Manny. Effortless and solid barber. He delivers each time. First time I met him, he said 'don't worry you will look good'.

I followed the crew from Tomcats over here. Been getting my hair cut by Makenna for about 2 years. Always a good fade and good conversation-the place is much nicer than tomcats-the whole crew is friendly and low key. Plus a hot towel at then end. Beer and water in the cooler. Can't wait until the Covid thing is over because I'm in serious need of a cut. Price is right too-10 dollars less than my old place in Carroll Gardens.

Followed my barber here from Tomcats where I had been getting my hair cut for years. Really consistently great haircuts. If you get to your appointment a bit early (the barbers are usually right on time) you can hang out and have a beer. The new location is definitely an upgrade from the other shop! I highly recommend this place for a haircut/trim/etc.

I've been coming for years, but had a terrible experience today. I had made an 11:30am appointment, and had a text message confirmation, but when I showed up the receptionist was confused. She confirmed with a barber, who yelled at me that it was impossible that I could have an appointment. It was super strange, since I had spoken to the same receptionist, and had the text confirmation. My last time going to Cut Shop, they can't speak to customers like they did to me today, not cool.

This is a new shop but I've been getting my haircut from Manny for years now back at crews original location - Tomcats. The crew here goes way back and are very experienced. They also have a website making it super convenient to book appointments

I've been going to my barber for years at Tomcats and was so happy to hear that he and the rest of the crew were opening their own spot at Cut Shop! I love this place and can't recommend it enough. Consistently great haircuts, friendly atmosphere and laid back vibe. Amazing quality for a modest price. They are the best - love it!
