The space was nice and open. The event was a wasted use of this nice space, and did not do justice to the fine brick interior. It was nice to play all those cool video games and see Anamanaguchi live, but this venue should be used for much, much bigger events.

Jimmy Alger

Google
Cool exhibition space. Good lighting. Elevator wasn't working, which made load-in and out more challenging and exhausting.

I have no reason to love old buildings as much as I do, and this one is pretty special. It’s definitely the kind of building you wouldn’t expect to have survived till now, and it’s also hard to see it. By which I mean, go inside to see it.

Wes Hadley

Google
Beautiful brick venue! Open, inviting, spacious. I went for a beer + cheese fest and it was the perfect space.

Sam Ou

Google
Lovely circular space that functions well as a multi-purpose gathering location for all types of events, whether they be World AIDS Day vigil installations or large art gallery exhibitions. The central skylights lend themselves well to providing lots of natural light during the day, while also creating a cavernous nighttime dome perfect for resonant live music. Though certain things like tables, chairs, and even a beaded orbed chandelier that the space provides for events can seem dilapidated (or even cheap), they can also still pass for grungy chic...for now!

Renee B

Google
Great venue. Attended a gala here, and it dressed up very nicely. The lighting was poor, so pictures using cellphones won't capture tree greatness of your outfit or the splendid time had by all.

Stacy Shorr

Google
Nice venue. The shape of the space helps people mingle and there are no bad seats at an event here. Charming exposed brick walls, and artistically decorated bathrooms give it that "extra" vibe. Great place.

Google
This is a beautiful and stylish mid sized venue, in an attractive area. The layout encourages tables around the border, and would probably make a nice social dance venue. Parking can sometimes seem impossible, though, and it's at least a few block from the Back Bay T, so give yourself some time to get there. It would be really great if, given the number of family events that happen here, the venue could install a changing table. I hate to take a star off (so I won't), but it would make it much more pleasant for the many parents who I see at events here (and, of course, me too).

Yelp
Have been to many functions in this building... Its a cool building and soo funny to see how it has been set up in soo many different forums... Good location if you dont mind public transportation, but for someone who drives parking isnt the best... But its doable!

Lynn J.

Yelp
SOOOooo many events are held here! You can... dance here on New Year's Eve. shop here on Girls' Night Out. eat here for a Dessert Showcase. drink here for a Wine Tasting. listen here to live band events. give back here to charity functions. Just don't cycle in the Cyclorama...no bikes allowed! THE DEAL: I have yet to Yelp here!

Danielle K.

Yelp
The Cyclorama is a wonderful venue for events! I've visited for numerous Girls Nights Out (both Shecky's and Stylefix), Skinny Cow's Perfect Cup, Bazaar Bizarre, and CraftBoston. The space is very spacious with room for lots of vendors and the architecture of the building is very pleasing. The high ceiling is cool to look at. Check out the photo of the ceiling on this Yelp listing. The only drawback is that the brick and cement floor will hurt your feet if you've wandering around the Cyclorama (especially if you're wearing any shoes other than sneakers).

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Given the photo that I'm seeing as a write this view, I wish I had gone to the bathroom here and that the girls bathroom was just as funny as the mens! Came here for the craft beer festival (free tickets!) and it was a great location for that type of event. lots of space to set up stands and also for walking around. they could have put in another 2 rows and there still would have been a good amount of room. Not sure if Cyclorama cut off the number of breweries, or if there just weren't that many who wanted to participate. The bouncer told us that there wouldn't be enough time left, because we showed up around 1:30 and the last call was at 2:10, but we tried everything, bought candy and had photos taken!

Leighann F.

Yelp
I've shopped here. I've drank here. I've learned about wine here. I've met friends here, heard music here and even eaten in here. Seems there's nothing this exposed-brick, mile-high ceiling, South End social/art/music/event/scene fixture cannot handle. The only thing I can't say I've done here is had a Yelp event. Hmmmm.

Ligaya T.

Yelp
Over the years I've come for nightlife events, bazaars and performances. The space is grand, vaulted ceilings, exposed brick, full lighting trusses. The main section is a big circle with wings on either side. Great for VIP areas though often during shopping events I've found that vendors don't get as much traffic as those in the center. Luckily, the areas are versatile so you can set-up in nifty ways to ensure proper milling. It is my dream that one day 1,850 yelpers will fill the walls of this venue with boisterous chortling and we will have a serious party. I have work to do.

Nicole P.

Yelp
I lived in the South End for three years and always wondered what took place in the "cool" building called Cyclorama. Clearly it's used for many purposed but I recently attended the Fetish Flea Market there and had a blast! The space itself is awesome, vaulted ceilings and cool angles. It's fun just to be inside, let alone watching people scantily clad in leather garments spanking each other with paddles! The Fetish Flea comes once a year so look for it next August! I am not huge into fetishes or anything but there are some really cool items for the "every day" girl/boy in addition to some more "out there" items. The people watching is also extremely entertaining- naked women with liquid latex bikinis, there was one bear of a man pulling another man in full out football gear and a leather pig mask around by a leash on his neck, people in horse riding outfits... I reccomend checking out both the Cyclorama and the Fetish Flea!

Lys W.

Yelp
I came here for Starry Night NYE, and it was just ok. The acoustics in the building were not very good, and I had to strain to hear what song was being played over the bass. The dance floor was nice and big, but no one really seemed to dance. The girl's restroom couldn't really handle the number of girls at the event that night, and the line snaked all the way back out to the dance floor. I might come back here under different circumstances, but at the moment, it isn't one of my favorites.

Mindy L.

Yelp
I've been here twice now for vastly differing events...and I have to say that this space can be classified as a "shape-shifter". I love the bricks and the huge domed ceiling. It can get noisy pretty fast, but both events were large-scale so that was unavoidable regardless of where we were. I would LOVE to find a reason to rent this space out...I need to get more friends first. I'll keep you posted.

Kathy A.

Yelp
I was here last night for the Taste of the South End. This is such a lovely open area to host an event. There is ample room. Considering there were TONS of people and chaos all around I never felt overwhelmed or claustrophobic (not that I normally am...but you get my drift). I hope to come here for future events.

Alicia B.

Yelp
FABULOUS VENUE. There, I said it. Do I really need to write more? I mean, I wrote in all caps; that's gotta say something. Ok, ok. I'll elaborate. I've only been here once -- and that was for the Extreme Beer Festival in February. But I've heard wonderful things about this venue from people involved in the Wine Riot and Bazaar Bizarre. I LOVE the vibe in here and how it's an open layout, though remains "intimate" with its small space. The beer festival was perfectly setup, and the bathrooms are spacious and modern. I will definitely factor in all events held here, for it's just a great space!

Diana G.

Yelp
I have heard that the reason this building was built (in 1884) was to house a massive panoramic painting of 'The Battle of Gettysburg'. The painting measured 50' x 400' wide. I've worked in this building countless times and I have often imagined what it would have been like to view that painting... Today, the building is used for events such as antique, art, and craft shows, private & corporate parties, wine tastings, and the like. There have even been some interesting concerts here in the past. (I believe Nine Inch Nails played here once - I would've liked to see that!) The events here are great, but my favourite part of this building are the restrooms. They were designed to expose the pipes of modern plumbing making the point that we are all connected to one another whether we like it or not.

Panda P.

Yelp
Okay, so you're huge!!! I'll give you that. But uhhhhh what else you got to offer me? While this may be great for say a reception for something, I think the venue may be a bit too large for most purposes. I know I felt like I had gotten eatten alive in here when I came for the StyleFixx GNO events. Now imagine if there weren't any tables in here and it was just a large room full of people... in a dimly lit space. Yehhhh........ Marco? Polo?

Michelle E.

Yelp
A really excellent venue for various theatre-y things in the South End. Cyclorama is a jewel with incredible architecture and a culture of philanthropy. They do some great events here in the realm of tastings and so forth, and I find it to be suitable to those sorts of things.

Nicole T.

Yelp
Events here are brought to another level because this is such a great venue. The main area is brought together with the great architecture element that is the glass ceiling. I think it could be better highlighted at night, esp since there is so much structure beneath it, with some accent lighting. One of the best things about the space is that there are no columns to interfere with the event's organization. The bathrooms are pretty cool too. I sorta expected a plain old bathroom when I came here for the first time but I was kinda excited to see such an interesting design... what can I say I have a degree in architecture, I notice things like that. Aside from the design I have been there for busy events and they are always really clean. Come here for some cool events and take in the beauty of the old theater.

Melissa P.

Yelp
The space is gorgeous. You walk in, throw your head back, and just stare upward. I am in love with the gargantuan sky light! Being in one huge round space is also pretty cool--no mysterious corridors to get lost in and you can pretty much see everything going on at once. I went to an amazing event there last night and just felt so lucky to be in such a cool building. But, one thing I have to say, is that it is always hot at the Cyclorama. This is something I forget each time I go. Then, as I'm standing there for about 2 minutes, I start to feel the sweat trickling down my back and I remember how swelteringly hot it was the last time I was there. Then I kick myself for not dressing appropriately, which apparently would be a bathing suit. At first I thought it was just the result of about a million crazed, drunk, and ravenous shoppers from the Shecky's Girls' Night Out. That kind of event could seriously heat up any place. But, no. It is hot each and every time I am there. So hot, in fact, that last night I saw just about every other person fanning themselves with plates. At least I knew it wasn't just me.

Yelp
I've been here on a few occasions but my most memorable moment happened at the entrance to Cyclorama after the Bizarre Bazaar. John Malkovich. I saw John Malkovich. Okay.. can I just say that in my Novel into Film class in college we studied Ripley's Game and Malkovich is SO classic in it. Seeing him a couple years later still got me excited. lol I did the creepy stalker thing and when he turned around I did the hand reach and whispered his name.. "You're John Malkovich!".. I turned around before he could.. but I'm pretty sure he didn't hear me. Or chose not to hear me. Star struck. Anyway.. For some reason I thought that there would be bicycles suspended from the ceiling when I first came here, so I was a bit disappointed (don't judge). I think this place is good for events like the bazaar where people are continually moving etc. I've been invited to dinners here and have never gone. It would just seem like such an impersonal lunch room style approach.. I don't know.. it feels too open for dinner. The ladies room design is interesting but makes me feel like I'll need a tetanus shot.. and for some reason the sinks are ALWAYS running. It's probably because they're manual and everyone is afraid of touching the knobs after washing up. I'd definitely be back for bazaars/markets.. but probably wouldn't go to anything else.

John L.

Yelp
I was expecting more bicycles here. That being said, it's a nice event space. Situated in the South End (near the Beehive and other hoppin' places on Tremont), it has room to hold events both large and small. Me, I went to Wine Riot VIP night back in April. Do I remember every intricacy of the Cyclorama? No. But I do remember it being a decent event space. We could move around easily and sample things, and it was wide open and spacious. There are also side rooms that smaller seminars can be held in, but I don't remember there being doors, so I'm not sure how effective that is. It's also relatively convenient walking-wise to the Back Bay T-stop (or if you want to go further, Copley or Arlington).

Kyle D.

Yelp
I went here following a Boston area graphic design awards ceremony, and the entire joint was decked out in a picnic theme. I don't blame Cyclorama for it at all, but ugh, was it dreadful to look at. Anyway, the space is huge and it's ideal for any "hip" or "fun" (do the kids still say "fun"?) convention, like a beer tasting or some other food/booze oriented affair on the basis that it follows something else really cool. I was irked with the acoustics with the live music that they had there, because it just ended up a loud droning bass, not unlike a stroked-out grandfather with a microphone. The bathroom was also difficult to find in the mass of set-up, which ended up being behind a wall that was behind another artificial wall. The joint was shiny, but its unique architecture can work against it.

Jeff D.

Yelp
We visited this space for the CraftBoston arts fair and were thrilled that a vendor who we'd spotted last year but could not afford was back. We were flush, we bought, we are thrilled with our purchase. Cyclorama is a nice airy, well lit exhibit space that had plenty of room for everyone to display their wares. We enjoyed the more intimate atmosphere (the previous year's fair was at the World Trade Center) and hope it continues here.

Aretha B.

Yelp
I love this venue. It's this fantastic open somewhat circular space. it's got natural lighting, gorgeous spacious bathrooms with exceptionally high walls, and it's in a great location. I've been to the boston tattoo convention here, as well as a few art shows (future classics and legends of style). I always enjoy coming here and running around! Lots of times they have bars and promo girls too! woowoo!

Nicole H.

Yelp
Cyclorama means one thing to me: girly shopping nights with free booze = 2 thumbs up!! I really want to hit the Bazaarr Bizarre next time because I wasn't around this year. I am a sucker for market-type events, they always seem to empty my wallet. The Shecky events and other girly shopping events are both good and bad. The good: lots of independent artists/designers selling their goods at a discount; going there with your gal pals; getting free booze The bad: the first few times I went, the place was positively packed with both vendors and shoppers and it reminded me of a mosh pit; this last time there were fewer vendors and it felt empty - maybe next time there will be a better balance? The ugly: either way, I always manage to spend an obscene amount of money on yet more jewelry and accessories I do not need It's in a fab location and I would definitely hit up the Cyclorama for any event that tickled my fancy.

Peachy L.

Yelp
So we've gone here for the girls night out events and tattoo conventions and have always had a good time. It's big, clean and a nice new open place. The girls night out ( stylefixx or sheckys) are a blast! If you haven't been go! You get a massive goody bag with your ticket which makes it well worth it in itself. You also get free drink tickets! There are tons of fun vendors, local and from other parts in the country. Everyone is always upbeat, happy and it's a lot of fun!!! The tattoo convention is always fun too. Not only can you get a tattoo from an amazing artist or a very easy and well done piercing but there are also clothes, jewelry, purses and glass pieces. I went once and it was very quiet and a year later when it was slammed. I'm not sure what made one day different then the next. My only complaints about this place is the parking can be hard because the garage fills up fast. Also the air circulation is pretty bad. It can get very steamy in there so leave your coat in the car.

Parker C.

Yelp
I originally found this place completely by mistake. I was walking to meet a friend to grab some dinner but I was early. It was also the middle of a blizzard. Yes I am the kind of idiot that who decided to go meet someone for dinner during a blizzard and also is dumb enough to walk there. Anyway, I was freezing cold and had 15 minutes to kill. Good Planning. Luckily for some unknown reason someone forgot to lock the door at the Cyclorama. SWEET! I had no idea what this place was but it looked warmer and significantly less snowy than where I was. The place was awesome. It is such a cool building and the ceiling is beautiful. I felt like I walked into some evil genius's secret lair. I have been to some random events there since then and the place never fails to impress. Before Christmas last year they had a random craft fair/ crazy shit bazaar. There are tables and tables of stuff you never knew you wanted but suddenly feel like you have to purchase. Check it out.

Adrienne B.

Yelp
We've held our company meeting here the past couple of years. Its a great space to make your own and the Marketing team at my company really makes it feel like our company when we walk in- which I think is props to the cyclorama as well. The bathrooms are very cool- I dig the stall doors and the feel of antiquity mixed with modern features. I'm not sure who does the catering for us- but the food is fantastic as well. The only reason I don't give the cyclorama 5 stars is that I heard through the grapevine that the staff who does the booking and extremely unresponsive and you actually have to walk into the building to get them to take your questions. Other than that its a great place to hold an event- and if you have anything to do with booking events for your company I say check it out.

Isabella C.

Yelp
The Cyclorama is a puzzling space tucked away behind a very industrial exterior. It has an incredibly versatile center space with high ceilings, a dancefloor/DJ area, and lots of seating room as well as space for photo booths or other displays. Sound carries quite well in the space and it's usually set up in a way that's very navigable. The bathrooms are, as many others have mentioned, well worth a peek. They're fun and they really capture the young and energetic nature of the space. If you ever get the chance, the Cyclorama is a great venue to explore. Depending on the event, it can feel like a very different space, but that's the beauty of it.

Francesca R.

Yelp
I've been here for a Beerfest and most recently for the Wine Riot, and each time was a really great time. The space is relatively small enough that you can navigate it easily, but still large enough to engender boisterousness and good times for large groups of people. I also really love the aesthetic of the place; the exposed brick walls, the giant sun roof, the industrial bathrooms come together to create a modern, fresh and yet still intimate atmosphere. During the Wine Riot there was a DJ (playing awesome music, incidentally) and acoustics were not an issue--in fact the sound was just right for conversing and grooving from vendor to vendor. This is definitely a five-star venue for any event.

Laura B.

Yelp
fantastic event space! cyclorama is a beautiful circular room, floor to ceiling brick, with ultra high ceilings, topped off with a circular skylight and geometric, black, iron scaffolding that doubles as a light fixture and a modern take on the ever romantic, Italian pergola. The bathrooms have an industrial modern feel with exposed brick and pipes, great lighting, and paper doors for the stalls. This venue is versatile and timeless!

Chris B.

Yelp
We had a great time/ Thank you Damian and Yelp. My wife liked small animals in gold, maybe I will get her a small animal in gold!

Josh C.

Yelp
Cool place, I have been to 2 extreme beer fest's and 1 German beer fest. If you have never been to a beer fest before, you are missing out. Check www.beeradvocate.com for the next one in February. Good times! Cheers

Steph W.

Yelp
I have to give 4 stars to the Cyclorama center because of the good memories I have here! I appreciate the center because a variety of different events are hosted here -- wine & food fests, StyleFixx, etc. The space is nothing too fancy but it is big and it allows for diff vendors, walking around, etc. The events are sort of hit or miss but the space itself is pretty good!

Lori R.

Yelp
totally unprofessional staff and CEO place filthy dirty for $13,000 for a nite. The left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing.

Andrew R.

Yelp
The more I come here, the more I love this old-looking, round, funky space. The ceiling is kind of awesome, and believe it or not, the old feel of the restroom make you want to hover inside just a little too long. Bonus: the huge old photo of a cyclorama just outside the men's restroom.

Laura A.

Yelp
I visited Cyclorama for the first time to check out the Craftboston holiday fair. It's too rich for my blood, but beautiful arts and crafts! I especially loved Jim Rosenau's This Into That booth - clocks and shelves made out of old books. Really creative, fun and beautiful work. I also adored Jenn Bell's whisical enamel artwork. I would have loved to have purchased something from her. Maybe some day!

Merri H.

Yelp
Great space for events. I have been here for several girls shopping nights and most recently for the BIZARRE BAZAAR. Big open space and nice place for vendors to display their wares. So...next year, put this event on your holiday shopping calendar. Great place to get super unusual hand made things from artisans and designers. Cool graphics, knits, love it!

Clara L.

Yelp
Went here for CraftBoston, really enjoyed the venue. It was able to accommodate so many vendors, without it looking like a discount mart with crazy narrow aisles. The only complaint I had was the sun blasting through the windows at the top of a few of the vendor spots, it was blinding and alot of people had trouble seeing some of the crafts, especially when the sun hit glass or metal pieces. Would definitely consider going to other events here!

Dana L.

Yelp
Interesting venue, but lacking somewhat in practicality. I came here for Bazaar Bizarre, and though that it was an interesting location for the show. I liked the main room, but had mixed feelings about the two side areas. The two spaces on the sides are kind of strangely shaped, and the booths there felt somewhat cut off from the rest of the show.

Deb K.

Yelp
I always end up at The Cyclorama for something booze related: one of the various Girls Night Out events, beer tastings, whiskey tastings, and Beer Fests. To me, the Cyclorama is one of the classiest and cheapest places that I get drunk in. The events I go to are either free or have a small entrance fee and then give me drink tickets to enjoy the libations. It really is awesome. Not only is the space innovatively round (read as: easy for Deb to not get lost) and decorated well by the event's hosts, but there is a huge sky light that makes me feel like I am not in a cave. The only problem I have with the place is that it seems to not have enough stalls for the ladies, especially on the Girls Night Out nights.

Sara M.

Yelp
What a great venue! I've been to fundraisers here and been to Wine Riots here. I can't get over how versatile a place Cyclorama is. One Caveat: wear comfortable shoes - its a 10 to 15 min walk from the T and the floors are very hard!

B P.

Yelp
I went there for the Wine Fest Saturday, November 13th, 2010. I have to say it was a complete waste of money. Basically, it was a lot of low-end no name wineries promoting their cheap and terrible wines. Loud music was playing from raspy speakers and the only food available were these god-awful meat pies from some Australian dudes. Even though the even was crowded and no other food was available, still nobody was buying the meat pies, so you clearly how to be really drunk and desperate to eat one. Essentially, this entire event was a giant promotion. Small amounts of terrible wine. I will NEVER go again!

mike B.

Yelp
bizarre bazaar was awsome. was hoping for it to be a little bigger and a little more variation from the punk rock flea market but still an excellent place for an excellent arts n crafts gig.

Julie N.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite buildings in Boston. From Stylefixx, to corporate events, to parties... I adore this building.

mike r.

Yelp
cool venue for many varied events, unique layout and awseome (yes, its overused as a word but true!)

Steve N.

Yelp
attended a Beer Festival here the tail end of this summer. i did like the layout and feel of the place. a much better venue for this type of event than, say, the Bayside.
