Where to Find the Best Gas Station Biscuits, Barbecue, Tacos, and Fried Chicken in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Located next to a Shell gas station, this popular Venezuelan spot serves a variety of generously stuffed arepas, cachapas (cheese-filled sweet corn pancake), and empanadas on the menu, along with nourishing soups, sides of sweet plantains and yuca fries, and tres leche and flan for dessert. It all makes for an easy and filling meal while on the go. For those with time to spare, grab a seat on the small patio out front. Cylantros also includes a location in Kennesaw (beside a Shell station) and in Roswell." - Beth McKibben

Best Atlanta Bakeries, Restaurants, and Food Pop-Ups for Empanadas | Eater Atlanta

"Cylantro’s serves up Venezuelan cuisine in Woodstock, Roswell, and Kennesaw. Using a traditional Venezuelan method, the empanadas are made with corn flour and stuffed with fillings like pabellon — a combination of shredded beef, plantains, and black beans." - Lia Picard

Google
Best arepas in town, right next to downtown Woodstock! I've tried quite a few different varieties of their arepas and they have all been great. The "sampler" is a great way to try 4 of their most popular, I like the creamy chicken one the most. Their cheese and beef empanadas are also great. I've tried some other stuff on the menu like tacos and burritos but personally think their arepas and other Venezuelan offerings are the way to go. I recently tried a "Chicha" drink, it was like a very thick horchata. Tasty but the texture really wasn't my thing. All the staff is always pleasant, and the little patio is nice despite looking at a gas station parking lot.

Google
First time there! I have been looking for an authentic place that kind of brought me back to my roots. (Colombia) And this was as close to it as possible. I definitely will be heading back. The food was great tasting. My daughter thought that their passion fruit drink reminded me of my mothers. We definitely will be heading back. We like to try new things all the time. And this was a great place a great choice!!!

Google
The food was great! My first time eating Venezuelan food and it was delicious I definitely recommend.

Google
Obsessed with this place. Always passed by and never tried it. Fast service and incredible authentic food. Got a vegetarian tostada and it was better than I could’ve imagined - definitely hit home. Atmosphere is decent for location.

Google
Outstanding cultural cuisine, shop is very small place and all their locations are very small. They are a typical immigrant success story location. My wife loves the empanada and Arepas I love the soup there called Sancocho (They run out of this quickly I discovered) by 2 pm they are usually out For a small shop the rest of the food is pretty on par I only took stars away from the place because they need seating and need to expand to an actual restaurant to make it a viable sit down place. Considering the vibe and atmosphere of culture the outdoor seating and such is very similar to a street side stand in the country.

Google
I got the Pabellon Criollo. Shredded beef with rice, avocado, fried sweet plantain, and black beans. I also got flan. With tip it came to almost $30, but this is the best food I've had on this trip to Woodstock. It's a small place with only 3 tables inside and plenty of outdoor seating. The music is lively and makes for fun atmosphere. The food was made quickly and the sauces were good. It was the best flan I've ever had. Great place.

Google
The food is fantastic. I would eat here more often if it weren't for the service. It's very awkward when I come in to pick up my order. The woman behind the counter doesn't smile or say Hello. She just stares at me like I'm annoying her; that she's angry that I'm there. If it only happened once, I would assume she was just having a bad day, but she's like that every time. It's very off-putting and makes me reluctant to return.

Google
Small restaurant attached to the gas station, but dont let that turn you away. They have indoor and patio seating available. The food was amazing. The arepas are dense and very filling. The empanadas were hot when they came out and the shell was perfectly crisp. I would recommend the #10 & #11 arepas for sure. So happy to have found this little spot! They have vegetarian options available, but not much for Vegan or Keto in case you were looking.

Yelp
Love Cylantros. It's always delicious. I love the carne guisada and the red and green sauces. Beware, the red sauce is super spicy. But so good. Have never tried anything that wasn't top notch yummy.

Yelp
This place is good and the food was good. I was in the area and decided to try something new. We had some tequeños and some empanadas, arepas, etc. The flavor was missing something but over all it was good which is why I gave it 4 stars. The service was good and very patient as I took forever to order because so many options. The restaurant has a few tables but they have a covered area outside.

Yelp
Been here before, a couple times already ... This visit, I was a bit disappointed bc their steak was not the best tasting as I remembered it to be. It was a bit on the soggy side. There was not crisp in it & the arepas was the only thing that saved the dish that was accompanied by a dash of lettuce, some cheese, and a slice of tomato.

Yelp
Yelp reviews don't lie!! We found lithos place on Yelp as they have amazing reviews and these reviews are accurate. I had no idea what to expect with a taqueria attached to a gas station but never judge a book by its cover. You order at the front counter and pick up your food when it's ready. This restaurant is authentic and absolutely delicious!! I ordered a large Chicken Burrito which was a perfect size and came with a cilantro ranch sauce on the side. It had the perfect amount of ingredients and flavors. My husband's arepa looked amazing and he loved it as well. They have a small patio area right outside the restaurant where you can enjoy your meal outside. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to going back soon!

Yelp
So while staying in Woodstock, not many nearby dining places. Why not enjoy some arepas in a place located in a gas station? Outside covered picnic tables, order inside. we enjoyed the perico, vegetarian (very messy) since the goodies are on top of the arepa and chicken empanada. Black beans were very good too. Restrooms and bottled water available in the gas station.

Yelp
$4.29 for a cup of cooked white rice... would have expected some special seasonings, or a bigger portion for that.... Nope. Just 15 cents worth of plain white rice upcharged to $4.29. Other food was good - but this ruined the whole experience for me.

Yelp
I often order this through a delivery service when my wife travels for work, which I only mention because if a fat guy orders three arepas and some sides they don't know it's only for me, but when the fat guy orders in person he's told that's too much food. It wasn't said judgmentally, or I would have removed a star or three, but it did make my wife laugh! There's a reason this joint that started as a food truck and remains attached to a gas station convenient store has kept high stars for years: consistently great food and service. Definitely worth the time it takes to make the fresh-to-order food, and I've but yet had a bad experience!

Yelp
We have been wanting to try Cylantros since we moved in and finally caved and ordered from Uber Eats for dinner one evening. The food we received was delicious and still really hot which was a treat since it was delivery. I loved the portions of the side options. We got the fried yucca and the sweet plantains. They were both great and fried to perfection. The cachapa (sweet corn pancake folded with cheese inside) we ordered with steak and it was so yummy. I love the combination of the sweet corn and the salty from the cheese and the steak. The pabellon (beef, cheese, plantain, rice, beans) larepa was also delightful. We didn't care for the reina pepiada (chicken salad with avocado) arepa or the flan but everything else was amazing. The reina pepiada had old avocado in it which was gray and I don't like that flavor once it turns so truthfully I couldn't eat more than a bite. The flan was off with both the texture and flavor. All in all we really enjoyed our meal and will definitely order here again! Whatever you do - get extra of the green sauce and thank me later.

Yngwie M.

Yelp
Food was good. It was a little pricey for what it is. My only complaint about the Arepa is how they stuff it. All the meat and cheese is at the top. Then it's all maduros at the bottom. So unless you rearrange things (hard because it's hot), that's the order in which you'll be eating them.

Yelp
Came at lunch on a Thursday. Great service, great food, but be aware of the small amount of indoor seating! We sat outside, which was nice in the shade and with a breeze. I got the beef and cheese empanadas. Love them! Fried and greasy, but it hit the spot. I also ordered a small shrimp and pastor taco. The small tacos are really mini, and can be eaten in 3 bites. It was just enough for me, but be aware! This is a great pick and take it home place. Can't wait to come back and try more!

Yelp
First time using Uber Eats because I'm house sitting in Georgia and do not know how to drive stick shift. Surprised Cylantros had cachapas. Know this is debatable but I usually get cachapas and stuffed arepas at Colombian/Venezuelan restaurants. They also have cheese tequenos which are mini versions of dedo de queso. Cheese empanadas! Yum. Cylantros' were delicious! If I would have known they had my favorite garlic sauce I would have asked for extra. Next time I will read the menu more thorough. I'm use to larger portions being from Queens, New York, but the food was too good to complain.
google avatar

Katura B.

Yelp
Still my absolute favorite place for delicious empanadas!!! The shredded beef ones, I could eat them morning noon & night! Lol! Visit, you won't regret it!

Yelp
Stumbled upon the hidden gem I. Woodstock and to my delight it was amazing. It's cool to hear Spanish since I'm from Cuban and I barely out now in Atlanta. The menu is clear cut and the food is amazing. The place is busy yet peaceful and quiet enough to enjoy a good meal. I definitely recommend people to try this place.
google avatar

Becca W.

Yelp
We loving coming here for the arepas. I would recommend trying the reina pepiada arepa. The service is always quick and friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
You might be tempted to skip Cylantros because it's connected to a gas station, but you'd be making a huge mistake! This spot has delicious food and great service. It's especially nice when the weather is good and you can sit outside and enjoy it.
google avatar

Yelp
I didn't know what to expect when I stopped at this place for lunch. It's a little place adjacent to a gas station. There three tables inside and a some setting outside. However, this restaurant is very popular. In the 15 to 20 minutes I waited for my order, there was a steady line of people. You place your order at the counter and the menu is not very large, but everything sounds good. I tried a couple of empanadas (great choice), the Pabellon and the Reina Pepiada. Everything was very good. Like I always say, don't be afraid to try new things. You may be pleasantly surprised. I suggest you try this place.

Gabriel F.

Yelp
Food was excellent and I always enjoy their selection. It feels like genuine Venezuelan Cachapas!
google avatar

Vg M.

Yelp
Omg, everything is excellent. Chicken burrito with cilantro sauce will have you licking your finger. The chicken bowls are very taste. A MUST TRY! Make time to sit (small but outside area as well). Staff is awesome, and the wait isn't long, and expect to hold if you call during lunch. But so, so very worth it. Tell them, Mary! Sent You

Yelp
Some of the best food in Woodstock. Love, love, love this place! The food is so good, it's worth 5 stars despite a few small things to be aware of, which I'll mention now. Service has sped up significantly since I discovered this place ~4 years ago. Now it comes in 5-10 minutes. So this isn't the best place to go to for a fast meal. However, the line isn't ever long. Also, they have almost no inside seating. The outside seating is really perfect on a nice day.
google avatar

Maggie R.

Yelp
Fantastic quick and easy and so good Inflation obviously made 99 cent tacos 2$ but it's still worth it!
google avatar

Tori B.

Yelp
I have been to Cylantros three times now and can't believe I haven't written a review! This place is hands down my favorite guilty pleasure lunch stop! I know it'll be delicious every time I come. The arepas are a must as well as the empanadas and cachapas! Quick service, all made to order. Fresh ingredients served with a smile. Love you, Cylantros! Keep doin what you do!
google avatar

Mckenna K.

Yelp
Do not sleep on this place, it is my favorite Woodstock restaurant. They have a cute little outdoor patio but there is a few indoor tables available. Their street tacos are my regular go to and are so delicious, definitely ask for extra green sauce. It is so good I could drink it. Their arepas are also pretty tasty!!

Mary P.

Yelp
The food was delicious and fresh. The portions were all right The spot was small. Kind of pricey.

Ben N.

Yelp
Amazing food, do not miss this experience! This is one of Woodstock, Georgia's greatest secrets !! Wow!
google avatar

Carla G.

Yelp
Food is always amazing! Very flavorful and filling. The service is great and the atmosphere is cozy and city like. I like the outdoor seating on warm days.

Yelp
Very good food! Plus Gluten free options! Definitely a must try! We had the #17 #5 and #3 Arepa! YUMM!! So good we ordered more food to go!

Aneska K.

Yelp
I love Cylantros and have been a customer since they opened. However, I'm a bit disappointed about the High prices for the food. Specially the empanadas and the soup. Way too high! Please reconsider adjusting prices. Thank you

Dawna T.

Yelp
Arepas! (Like a tender corn cake cut open and stuffed with so many options) Soooo good! We had the reina pepiada (like a chicken salad w cream and avocado) and the papellon (pulled beef, black beans and plantains) and my daughter had a house salad w chicken!! We shared some plantains (Maduros) This may be one of our new favorite places! It's location is next to the shell in the corner of Main Street (canton road) and 92. Don't let the location fool you. This is delicious Brazilian and Venezuelan food! Healthy! Filling! Beautiful food!
google avatar

Marie L.

Yelp
Terrible!!! Will not be returning! It seems they keep going down hill. When the owner used to be there, it was consistently good. Not any more...We waited over 30 minutes for a steak cachapa... only to find they omitted the steak. Paid $13 for cornmeal and cheese. Drove back and told them they didn't put the steak and they didn't even apologize for their mistake. Waste of my time and money. Lost a customer.

Yolis F.

Yelp
servicio, comida y ambiente 100% recomendado. súper rico. Ordene Patacon, Reina apepiad, pastelitos y Cachapa y wow... rocoooo y lo más importante el precio es justo.
google avatar

Meg T.

Yelp
Oh my gosh -- driving through and so glad we stopped here. Delicious and the servings are so big! I wish we would have shared since we couldn't take the extras with us... Get the sampler and the soup!
google avatar

Kyle C.

Yelp
Just point blank this place is a fantastic hidden gem. They take their food to the next level. They make food for foodies. Get ready to say wow and yum. I had the lunch special which was 3 tacos rice and beans. That would have been enough but I was told to try the empanadas... and I'm glad I did. The tacos come unwrapped so they don't get soggy on the way out. You wrap up the filling when you get ready to eat, good idea on their part. The empanadas were little fried bundles of happiness with 2 great dipping sauces. I've been here once and plan to make this my new go to taco spot. Come on by and give them a try, you will be glad you did. This place is super good.
google avatar

Sergio M.

Yelp
Food is authentic tasting. Service is fast. Glad we stopped in for a bite. Would definitely visit again.

Yelp
Favorite little joint in otp! This place always makes me feel like I'm back home. Not Venezuela but Miami. The smell, the food, the people. Cilantros is attached to a gas station just like most of the Venezuelan places at home in the city of Doral with the cutest outdoor seating area. FOOD: make sure you try the sancocho! A huge soup that's also made in my country Dominican Rep. This soup is composed of beef, chicken, potatoes, corn, squash and more! The empanadas are amazing. And of course the arepas and the cachapas what you come here for... I like them with lots of cheese and shredded beef or shredded chicken. Cilantros is a little taste of Venezuela on Highway 92.
google avatar

katrina r.

Yelp
I was really shocked at how good this place is. I appreciate the different style of food. It was very good, and very filling. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Cindy T.

Yelp
Awesome tacos in Woodstock! Who knew you could find great Venezuelan food next to a gas station? This unassuming restaurant is small with only a few inside tables but they do have a super cute outdoor patio area overlooking the gas station parking lot. Food came out hot and quickly. Prices were reasonable. I went with the lunch special steak platter with flour tortillas and the portion was HUGE. Enough for dinner later. Steak was seasoned well and ingredients were fresh. My fiancé got an arepa and loved it! The tacos also looked delicious and super filling. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!
google avatar

Marilyn B.

Yelp
Try this place now! You won't regret it. I stopped in right when they opened in hopes of a quick turnaround since I had my daughter with me. My order took about 10 minutes and I was 2nd in line. They make everything fresh to order so I didn't mind the wait once I tried the food. I had a shredded beef empanada and the Pabellon arepa. Both came with an amazing cilantro sauce. I could drink that sauce! The empanada was light and tasty. The beef was good and the dough was thin and crispy. The arepa was SO delicious! The pabellon includes shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantain and cheese. The plantain gives this sandwich just the right amount of sweetness. I will definitely be back as there are lots of items on the menu that I want to try.

Kevin P.

Yelp
Awesome sanchocho! Especially on cold day. Recommend the San chocho. Everything else is good too. Great hole in the wall joint. Next to gas station. Ladies in the back are warm and smiling and they can cook.
google avatar

Barry B.

Yelp
This is located in a gas station off Main Street. Parking is challenging but we did manage to find a space. The menu is on a computer screen above the counter. You order at the counter and they call your number when ready. You make your own drink. They offer a few vegetarian options. I ordered a sweet corn pancake with cheese. My partner ordered the Cylantros lunch special with chicken. It took about 15 minutes for our food to be prepared, it was very busy. We sat outside because inside the restaurant has only a couple of tables. Our food came with a couple of sauces, one was sour cream and the other was a cilantro mayo. My sweet corn pancake was OK, bland and I should have ordered something else. The sauces helped. My partner's meal was not so good. Overall, crowded place with limited seating and parking. It was not cheap either, only tasted cheap. Move on, nothing much here.
google avatar

Lisa T.

Yelp
Try everything! Delicious food and friendly staff. Don't let the location fool you, it's a hidden gem!
google avatar

M J.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place. The food tasted very bland. The customer service is great tho

Victoria D.

Yelp
The Sampler is great way to taste a bit of everything, and it's enough for two meals for me. The food is delicious and fresh. Service is good. Love having the food made to order.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Delicious. Absolutely delicious. The empanadas were fantastic. Although you will be too full, get a flan anyways. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Amber E.

Yelp
Great Venezuelan arepas and delicious tortas! I love the arepas but I usually go here for the tinga torta...mmm mmm good!!

Gwendolyn R.

Yelp
Best EMPANADAS! Don't be fooled by the location. A+ food in a little off to the side place. You will come back for more!

Kaylee J.

Yelp
Food here is so good. Only downsides are they run out of the soup early and it's amazing, and the yucca fries leave something to be desired.

Maria B.

Yelp
The food is packed with Flavor, and they have good portions for the price. Quick and always on point. Love the Cylantro Sauce!
google avatar

Andi P.

Yelp
5 Stars for a legit Venezuelan joint attached to a gas station (which only makes it feel even more special when you realize how great the food is!). Have your friend grab a picnic table outside which you order. Is it the most scenic spot? Naw. But will you feel like someone "in the know" for getting some great lunch at the least expected location? YUP. What I loved: Reina Pepiada: Arepa filled with chicken salad and avocado. I've had this at many restaurants and this one was solid. No disappointments here! Beef and cheese empanada: I had never had a Venezuelan empanada in the past so I was surprised by the outside. It seemed like a fried, slightly sweet arepa outer crust. And it was AWESOME. I am not usually in favor of cheese in my empanadas, but this served to hold the beef together nicely and the flavor was on-point! Big fan! Patacón steak: I'd never had the chance to try one of these. It's a sandwich with pretty much everything in it, but the really cool part is that the "bread" is instead flat crispy, salty plantains. This one will fill you up! I shared it with a friend and we really enjoyed the mixture of flavors. The chunks of steak were moist and seasoned nicely. Overall, GREAT lunch spot and it feels like a secret find :)

Jess B.

Yelp
Don't let the fact that it is next to a gas station dissuade you. The food is delicious. There are 3 small tables inside & a few picnic tables outside. We were visiting from Florida & we have had Venezuelan food quite a few times before in Florida. These arepas were yummy. Definitely a taste experience!

Laura R.

Yelp
The food is amazing even though it is next to a gas station. Authentic and delicious!
