The building is awesome, yes. Over a good span of time, unsettling experiences, mainly its about the lack of treatment of diversity. To explain that furthermore, it's like a difference in actions of racial bias- the staff who's Caucasian seems to only treat that same group with sincere care along with ignoring the uneasiness of same group that visits. With experiencing and seen/ witness different situations that could be handled professionally. The staff who's of any other ethnic background does better with equality, treating every person the same. I'm speaking for fairness ok, example of racial bias that happened: a person came in sat down with headphones on with music playing in ear but must have been too loud for the staff member (less than a minute approached for the volume) meanwhile another person came in walked around loudly talking for minutes, even the librarian(s) walk around loudly talking with visitors. There's other situations although the point is near clear. The inside voice or volume of noise factor is not being utilize equally, guided or monitored. Nearly feels like an unwelcoming for some. It's seen and tolerated, only some would actually speak on so please evaluate and moderate. Thanks for your consideration because someone has to, consider what's what. I personally like the area of space, it is being misuse kinda- layman terms.

The staff at Cynthia Graham Hurd library are awesome. They are always ready to help me, whether it's with the copying system, using the computer for research, or questions about my cell phone. John Strasburg is top-notch when it comes to teaching classes on technical issues or genealogy. He is always well-prepared for his classes, but more importantly, he has the heart of a teacher. He cares about his patrons, and it shows. Thanks to the whole staff! KLL

The entire CCPL is one of the best. I love this branch- great librarians, events and easy to put on hold/self checkout.

Google
Excellent neighborhood library where you can access the entire country's resources. Wonderful knowledgeable staff that are also friendly and helpful. Computers, copiers, flash drives, DVD/Computer rentals and fax services available. This is a tax we all pay and we can all enjoy our tax dollars at work. Notary service available.

This library is fantastic! They have a toddler room which was very helpful when trying to help my older child complete a project. And the librarian, Joanne, was amazing! She let my daughter interview her for a special project and then let her practice presenting her presentation to her. She was so helpful and kind!

Yelp
I love my local library. They have an excellent selection of books and DVDs. Why buy a book when you can rent it for free? This branch is very well managed and operated and offers just about everything you could need from a library.

Yelp
This location was renamed last year in memory of Cynthia Hurd, who was a librarian killed at Emanuel AME Church. It was very fitting for CCPL to rename it and shows how much she was loved and valued as a librarian. This library in general is great. There's plenty of parking along with a book drop, and the location is central to West Ashley. CCPL offers lots of great services like reserving books online and intra-library loan. The library has free and reliable wi-fi and self-checkouts. Aside from the building, the library has online benefits you can take advantage of- such as free music downloads each week from Freegal, as well as the Hoopla app that lets you download and "check out" TV shows and movies. If you don't have a library card- and I know you're out there- you're missing out. It's a great way to save money by checking out books and DVDs. You'll be surprised at what you can find.

Yelp
I love my library. A whole building of books and people who love books! Why buy a book if it is offered for rental for free? Children's section has computers with games so my son always looks forward to that. The summer has a reading program that the kids can earn prizes. If they don't have the book at this location and you don't have time to drive to the other location, ask them to order it from another library and they will notify you when it's in!

Yelp
Cynthia Graham Hurd St. Andrews Regional Library in West Ashley is one of my favorite libraries in the Charleston area. There is plenty of work space here and plenty of room to do research and enjoy the facility. It is also a quiet place which is not always the case with all libraries. This branch is very well managed and operated and offers just about everything you could need from a library.

Yelp
This library has a massive selection of DVDs and Blue Ray movies in both adult and kid sections. Decent array of TV shows and also non-fiction and documentary films. The selection of audio books is not as comprehensive. They have a great selection of classical CDs. They provide community rooms for events (when I walked in there was a drum circle or some such practice going on). The bathrooms are why it didn't get a 5-star, they were honestly quiet gross and I had to hold my breath the whole time. There was debris all over the floor as well. Didn't have a chance to look through the book selection will do that next time. Did find a large number of good films available. There are about 10 public access computers. Glad this place is within walking distance to my house.

Yelp
The Hurd/St. Andrews branch of CCPL has extensive selections in every genre of literature. If they don't have what you want, they'll order it! Their website is user-friendly and the staff is fantastic. I recently visited this branch to check out their large graphic novels section and YA collection.

Yelp
I love coming to the library! My daughter and I are both avid readers and enjoy getting new books every week. The staff is friendly and I love their self check out! They have a good selection of books that stay well organized. I love the new book area. If they don't have what you're looking for in your branch, they will get the book from another branch. I love their website too. Nothing like being able to see your checked out list, put a book on hold, or browse their selections all from home!
