Was happy to learn Cyprus Avenue offer a separate, dedicated vegetarian menu. From this I ordered a main consisting of chicory croissant, poached egg and dressed salad. However, it was a rather strange dish and the flavours didn't work well together. The croissant was too sweet, eggs bland and salad didn't appear to be dressed at all.
Dessert was much better, being a gorgeous chocolate Bakewell tart with passion fruit sorbet - really good. Service was attentive and our waitress extremely helpful, especially given that two people in our party of four couldn't decide what to order and asked her advice for every course! They were very happy with her recommendations - perhaps I should have asked her guidance regarding the best vegetarian dish!
Restaurant decor is beautiful and there's plenty of outside seating also. However, we ordered a bottle of Spanish wine to share initially and once this was finished we ordered another bottle from a male staff member asking him for the same again. We only noticed after the second bottle had been delivered to our table and poured that it was actually a completely different wine! We didn't complain as it had already been poured by the time we realised the mistake, and was quite nice wine, but this was disappointing and showed a lack of attention to detail.
Despite these couple of blips, I would return to give Cyprus Avenue another go, as I enjoyed the experience overall and my dining companions loved their food. I feel that on this first visit I did not experience the best of vegetarian food they have to offer, thus I would order a different veggie main next time and keep a very close eye on the wine served.
