Best Restaurants in Victoria and Pimlico — Where to Eat Near Victoria | Eater London

"The best Turkish Cypriot food in London is found way up in the northern clutches of the city, and this is no secret. But for whatever reason, a credible restaurant can be found in Victoria. Cyprus Mangal has an expansive menu, with cooling tabbouleh and crisp falafel; the shish kebabs are juicy and generous. But snacks such as the icli kofte, which are succulent deep-fried balls filled with lamb and onion, and imam bayildi, oven-baked aubergines sweet with tomatoes and peppers, mean Cyprus Mangal exceeds expectations." - Josh Barrie

I had an amazing experience at Cyprus Mangal! The service was fantastic – friendly, professional, and attentive throughout. The food was absolutely excellent, and the standout for me was the ribeye steak. Honestly, it’s one of the best steaks I’ve ever had – perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavour. If you’re looking for top-quality food and great service, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

One of the Best Halal Turkish Restaurants in Victoria – A Must-Visit 🇹🇷✨ I’ve been coming to Cyprus Mangal since 2017, and it’s hands down one of the top Turkish spots in Victoria – and yes, it’s fully halal. The food is consistently delicious, with generous portions, especially on the lunchtime menu – ideal for work breaks, quick catch-ups, or relaxed group meals. You get proper flavour and freshness every single time. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming, with stylish furnishings and a great energy throughout. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or staying for a full meal, the service is fast, friendly, and always on point. Shoutout to Gokan and the whole team – from the chefs to the servers, they make you feel at home. A hidden gem that never disappoints. If you’re in the area, make this your go-to for halal Turkish food.

Cyprus Mangal is definitely one of my favourites. Over the last couple of months I have visited approximately 6 times, with various people, and so far it hasn't let me/us down. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. My personal favourites are the sucuk, whitebait and the mixed grill. I will attach some photos of our meals.

Google
Great spot to pop in and get some incredible food. There were 3 of us and we were seated right away, great service and the food was hot and fresh. We did arrive around 1700 and the place quickly filled to capacity. Great vibes and service. Highly recommend. God bless

Google
Lovely restaurant in the heart of Pimlico, near Victoria. A group of 9 of us went for a work lunch and were served promptly and efficiently. We each chose items from the 2 course lunch menu and everything from the dips, to the warm bread to the mains was excellent. I had the mixed doner and the cacik which were lovely.

The food is sooooo delicious! Huge amount and very fresh salad, and the meat is cooked properly and tender. And the yogurt is a delicious experience! The service is so warm and friendly! Definitely will try something else next time and I have already recommended it to my friends hahaha. Definitely worth the price!

Yelp
My Friend and I came here after watching Wicked and found a hidden gem in London while on vacation. We both had the Lamb Beyti and both dishes were flavorful and well seasoned . The cucumber salad was refreshing and delicious. The service was great as well as the kitchen was closing 20 mins until 11pm and they were very accommodating. I will be returning soon

Yelp
Wow! Came in pretty late, but the food was amazing compared to some of the Turkish restaurants I've visited back in the US. Ordered the mixed plate along with the filo stuffed with cheese/spinach and dolmas. Everything was so delicious! I'm so happy with how fresh the vegetables and meat tasted! Would love to come back!

Yelp
Fantastic food, VERY friendly service! Highly recommend this place. We found it on recommendation of our taxi driver.

Yelp
Are you looking for good turkish food walking distance from Victoria Underground station? I've had the Halloumi wrap here and it was absolutey scrumptious. I know someone who used to live in Bermondsey and he would take the C10 every once in a while and when he did, he made sure to come here for his favorite wrap. Come here, good prices and fresh cooking. I can't wait to try more.

Yelp
Great service, great food and a great space. I had the Tavuklu Kofte which looked awesome and and tasted great. I finished up with the Baklava which was flaky and sweet though I would have liked it with a little more syrup. Would definitely come back here again when I am in London. Staff and ambience were A++

Yelp
I loved this restaurant the food was so fresh and delicious. The presentation was a work of art. My husband took me here and I really enjoyed our visit. The service was great too! Good family environment and the restaurant was spacious. My husband commented that he saw the meat in the window and said it looked like good quality. I enjoyed the atmosphere it was a traditional Turkish restaurant.

Yelp
Fantastic Cypriot Turkish restaurant. Had two starters, halloumi-type cheese grilled on skewers and falafel with hummus. The cheese was nice, maybe a little bland, but nice. The falafels were great and came with nice hummus. For a main, had shish gannoush, marinated lamb on a aubergine (eggplant) purée. It was fantastic, great flavours, the lamb was beautiful. One of the best mains I've ever had. Very attentive service, highly recommended.

Yelp
Great food and customer service. Had a great time with my crew. Will be back next time I am in LHR.

Yelp
The food was cooked perfectly. The lamb is must order. The service was fast and efficient. The ambiance is nothing to get excited about. This is a good choice when you're look for value. The food is good and affordable.

Yelp
Come here if you are getting hungry very late at night, or else pick another restaurant. I was here around 10pm, and everything was closed, and this restaurant was the only option. I ordered a steak and chicken kabob. The steak was 2/5, and the chicken kabob was 4/5. The steak was not cheap, but the meat was super hard, dry, and rough. The seasoning was not done right, which was kind of a waste for the steak. The chicken kabob uses chicken breast. I was expecting the meat to be dry. However, it was super juicy, and tender! Surprise! Service was ok!

Soner C.

Yelp
Stopped here for a casual dinner. Terrific Turkish and Cypriot food!! Friendly staff. Must-visit restaurant!!
google avatar

Ben D.

Yelp
I had the fried halloumi cheese and the iskender kebab. Iskender is supposed to be made of thinly sliced specially marinated pieces of lamb roasted on a vertical spit (doner, gyro). The meat was not prepared properly; it was very bland and wasn't at all marinated as needed. This was a major disappointment hence the 2 stars.

Yelp
Came here for our final night in London just before we went to the theater for what I assume is Cypriot food. The service was excellent. I had the mixed doner which was sliced chicken and lamb from their rotating gyro rotisserie. Very tasty. The lamb was very rich. The rice was also very rich, with a lot of butter in it. Very tasty. We had their baklava for dessert and it was great. We also had their traditional fruit and nut soft candy which was also wonderful. Nice restaurant with a deli in the front and a bar on the side.

Yelp
It's just science, the closer you get to the Middle East, the fresher, more delicious, and authentic it becomes. While visiting London, I wanted to eat something that reminded me of the flavors of the Middle East, and I was a little surprised that there wasn't more eateries that had those flavors. It might've been of the location. I was walking back to our hotel and I smelled the familiar aroma of sizzling fat and mediterranean spices being slow roasted on a vertical pit. I looked through the window and was greeted with a familiar sight. The chef meticulously cutting perfect proportions of juicy chicken falling into a warm pita pocket. The picked vegetables to contrast the fattiness and that unmistakable garlic sauce to elevate it to the next level. I needed to order one and I did. Service was fast, friendly, and if you're looking for a quick bite or a sit-down atmosphere, this place has both to offer.

Yelp
I ordered a lamb iskander plate and chicken doner for dinner. Both dishes tasted great. Flavorful and cooked well. The prices are very reasonable. The service was also very fast and friendly. I definitely plan to return!

Yelp
Excellent food with nice atmosphere and great service. I had the lamb dish which came with rice and salad. Very flavorful food. Liked everything about this place. My wife also said she enjoyed her moussaka. Big portions as well.

Yelp
I was in London for 6 days and went here twice it was that good. When I can back for second time the waiter remembered our wine order and said welcome back! I was stunned by it. That tells me he is someone who cares about delivering great service. And he did. Food was great. Service was great. Price reasonable.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food and friendly service. This was about .2 miles from our hotel (St. Ermin's). We enjoyed it so much went twice. My son was craving a steak and they did a good job with it. We had the lamb and was very good. If in the area, definitely stop by.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in London so far! We happened onto the place on our first night in town. It was rather late but there was a vibrant crowd there, which is always a good sign. Cops, teens, couples were all enjoying an eye grabbing array of amazingly fragrant Turkish food. I got the shwarma. The meat was hot, fresh, well seasoned and delicious, as were the heaps of salads that came with it. The bread, which looked to be a bit mediocre, was smartly grilled up on the fire so it had an delicious smoky taste. We also had a Turkish sausage dish which was spot on. The service was warm and friendly (the guy likes to touch your shoulder when he talks to you), and the pricing was average for London, which is a bit on the high side if you ask me. About 30 pounds for 2 people. All in all, great experience. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Sit-down or grab-n-go, Cyprus Mangal serves up some amazing Turkish food including portable street food like shawarma wraps. I went with lamb shawarma to-go and it was delicious. You get to customize it a bit after ordering as you get to see the food being made in front of you like Chipotle. You can add or decline certain toppings. The chili sauce was robust as well and really bumped this up to the next level.

Yelp
11 pm .......Thanks for opening late with lots lamb selections. We love lamb. Highly recommend.

Yelp
6 stars! amazing kebab!! try anything they char-grill, i guarantee you will love it! even if you're a vegetarian, give it up for one taste of the Karisik Kebab, and you will never go vegetarian again!! awesome staff, great ambiance, satisfied 4 adults + 3 young children!!

Yelp
The service is better now (based on the reviews that I have read). Might I say though, the servers are nicer but it does not seem genuine. That aside. Food is great. I got the seasoned lamb which had rice, tomatoes, cabbage with it. It was very tender and seasoned well. I gave this review three stars because service contributes to my experience significantly.

Rosanna R.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this kebab shop/restaurant after being out at a local pub. We wanted to grab a bite as we just arrived from New York and wanted something to take back to our hotel a block away. Wasn't expecting much but the Chicken Doner wrap my husband and I shared ended up being one of our favorite meals the whole time in London. The seasoned chicken, the way they warmed the pita on the hot clay pot? And the salad options and sauces. This was close to midnight - we saw the cab drivers and line so we knew it was tried and true. Friendly host and I loved the colorful lamps hanging inside. Great place!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food. Got the lamb shawarma after much discussion and help from the person preparing the food. I am sure I annoyed him but his suggestions were well-founded. The shawarma was delicious. The meat juices were spilling over my hands as I was eating it.The portion size was heaping. I ate 75% of it in one sitting and the remaining 25% 4 hours later. Would be a regular customer if I actually resided in the area.

Yelp
Amazing Turkish place. All plates were very good, specially the apps !! The service was awesome and I heard they are adding on more space
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
Surprisingly good lamb kebab. As good as anything we had in Istanbul, at least for casual eats. Obviously you can get much better in Turkey, but it requires effort. Loads of chicken skewers as well if you have the room, they grill over actual charcoal, and downstairs is surprisingly ample-- seats groups quite well. Flatbreads weren't bad either. Not the best I've had, but pretty decent. Given the price, zero complaints!

Meg S.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service! We finished everything that we ordered. The hummus with lamb is a delicious appetizer. Highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Cyprys Mangal was just a block from our hotel, and having been to Turkey a few months back, we were excited to try it out! It didn't disappoint! Carry away is available by stepping just inside the door or further in request a table. They cook and prepare all dishes up front by the doors and window. We ordered lamb doner and chicken doner with salad and chips. All was fresh and just as tasty as what we ate in Turkey. They serve Efes beer and Turkish wine, which we enjoyed too! Friendly and quick service were also a plus as it was late and we were starving! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Years back when I came to London for the first time, I stumbled on Efes, a great Turkish restaurant. It was so good, even better than many places in Istanbul I've been to, so I wondered, is this the limit of human Turkish culinary achievement? Could there be a better place? So it dawned on me to ask the chefs there if there was such a utopia, the Shangri-La of Turkish food. Where do THEY eat? Well apparently they eat at Cyprus Mangal. And it's AMAZING. Cheap, friendly, and ridiculously good food. The kofte is an 8 (and that's only because of the size - it'd be a 9 if there was more meat), the lamb chops (wrapped in fat) are a 9, the grill quail is a 9. Well the bread is a 6. It's not fresh-baked/puffy, it's just grilled and toasty but you know what do you expect. It's okay the rice is great - so just get that if you're a Turkish bread snob. Love love this place - we always go out of our way when we go to London to go to this place. No fanciness or pretention, just super-friendly people and super tasty food that's pretty cheap.

Yelp
With one review calling Cyprus Mangal a fantastic "hole in the wall," and another boasting a "sleek, stylish interior," I had to swing by this neighbourhood spot in the name of research, clearly. I'm very professional like that. My conclusion? I see your wall-hole and I see your sleek, but why debate décor when the food is this delicious? Truth be told, the venue is nothing special, but the food is fabulous. In fact, the fresh hummus is some of the best I've had. Ever. The tavuk döner was extremely fresh, (words I previously considered oxymorons,) and by aubergine/onion/pepper/tomato/garlic creation was something out of a gourmet dream. While I agree that ambiance is little more than sitting at the back of a kebab shop, the food was something that would have come out of a fancy-schmancy kitchen. One starter, two entrees, and one dessert for £20? I may have to perform research here more often...
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Oh, Cyprus Mangal. Your tabouleh just may be my downfall. But not yet my Achilles Heel. Cause in this review, I'm going to keep it real. Local kebab shop in my old hood. Yeah, Ol' Cyp can push it (ahhh), push it real good! You know, like that song? But alas, I don't want this YelpReview to be long. So let me break it down for ya real quick. The people who serve me are generally pricks. There's just no other way around it. Sorry, that's not nice, but the descrip fits. They act like they don't want my biz. Which is cool, but I'm a regular...no smile or greeting? Gee whiz! Rarely served by someone with their attitude right. Always leave with a bag full of delish food...heated, and ready to fight. Unless absolutely pressed, not my style to throw 'bows. Rather just give 'em a lyrical beat-down with my prose. However, just goes to show. Despite good food, they still need to stay on best behaviour and tippy toes. So while I do recommend CM. Falafel, chicken shish and tabouleh are the creme de la creme. Service needs some work. Because what good is a great local, when it's full of jerks?
google avatar

Yelp
Friday night 10:30pm. Hungry. Cyprus Mangal to the rescue and in a big way. Delicious chicken doner wrap for 5.90 pounds with a generous amount of tasty juicy chicken with all the fixings - salad, red sauce, garlic sauce, etc. Loved every bite of it. Eat in or carry out. Fast carry out service. Bottom line: My new go-to place in the Victoria/Pimlico area. Cheerio.
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
Went here based on the great ratings on yelp, plus it's local. Unfortunately our experience wasn't up to scratch - the staff were disorganised and the food was just ok. I had the Yogurt Chicken Kebab which wasn't really what i expected - they had chopped up loads of flatbread and covered that and the chicken in salsa (on looking at the plate it was hard to tell what was chicken and what was bread) - it wasn't yogurt either it was sour cream in dollops around the plate. My boyfriend had the Kleftico which was tasty and tender but nothing special. If you want to have really good turkish food for the same kind of price I'd jump on the victoria line to Finsbury park and go to Yildez on Blackstock Road!

Yelp
I've just noticed that the last review for this place was in February, and just wanted to let you know that this place is still good! I've been coming for 3 years and the other reviewers are right - this place is consitently tasty. I've also noticed it's getting busier (3 years ago it was mainly a few locals and some cabbies) and we keep getting asked if we have made reservations. Mmmm...no, as essentially this is a few tables in the back of a kebab shop and we generally decide five minutes before hand that we are going there. We know the menu off by heart and go for a variation on sucuk (sausage), borek (good, but not as good as my own!) or dolmada (vine leaves) to start, and mixed shish to folllow. The mains come with red cabbage, rice, and a tomato salad - satisfyingly large portions. You will also get toasted flat bread served with both a yoghurt and spicy sauce. If you still have room i'd recommend the baclava, and wash it all down with a nice, cold Efes. Two starters, 2 mains, 2 beers, one dessert for less than £30. Brilliant...and you can always take-away. I just fear this place is getting to popular - it may be time for them to expand the premises?

Yelp
Excellent food! Its been my second time at this restaurant, the food is always fresh (the fish was lovely) and well cooked and presented. Staff are attentive and helpful... I will def come back! I am not giving them 5 stars since I asked for wireless pswrd and they could not provided since the manager was not there... otherwise, 5 star restaurant and affordable prices!
google avatar

Yelp
Top 5 shish kabob wraps of my young life, the lamb was succulent, flavorful and down right scrum- diddily- umptous. The garlic and chili sauces packed a bit of a punch, and i really liked the addition of a purple cabbage salad to the wrap, added a smooth coolness to the heat and texture of the lamb. The fifth star was awarded for the skillful wrapping. Like Jay-Z of shish wraps, mad skillz, kid. Not a drip of stray sauce or tear to be found in the lavash bread. It was consumable, on street, by hand, with no hassle. That is impressive wrapsmanship. Booyakasha!

Yelp
Awesome Turkish food .... thanks for all the yelpers out there to help me to find this restaurant to try during my visit in London. It is conveniently located close to the Victoria Station and pretty easy to find. Even before you set food into the restaurant, you can smell the delicious grill from outside and as you step into the restaurant, you will see the grill kitchen is right by the entrance with various type of kebab ... looking yummy already :) The restaurant deco is toward modern contemporary style which is very welcoming and feel very clean. Had the calamari, hummus, chicken kebab, and lamb stew on this cold cold night and the taste is absolutely outstanding. Very flavorful but not overly seasoned or cooked. The baklava there is probably among the best I had ... it melt as soon as you put into your mouth and not overly sweet , go just perfect with the Turkish coffee. And the service was good, especially in Britishers standard (I went to many places that service was nonexistence). With all the yummy food and on the table and the good service, I would expect the bill to come out to be like 30 some pounds per person but ended up at only 15 pounds per head.... I was WOW.... Highly recommended !!!

Yelp
Great value, great food. Not sure how it gets called a "hole in the wall" - the interior is sleek and stylish, with a warm minimalist feel to it. There are large booths that can accommodate large parties. We went on an early Saturday afternoon and it was mostly empty. 4 of us ordered a dozen or so hot & cold mezzes and a few entrees. With a few exceptions (the borak, which wasn't crispy enough), all the food was delightful. Tons of veggie options, and we all fought over the 3 or 4 eggplant dishes, as they were just so good. They do have a full bar, which is always another plus, with Raki & a couple turkish wine options. I would definitely come again!

Yelp
Cyprus Mangal is a very decent, I have been a couple of times and on both visits has been full. It is a Turkish restaurant owned by people from northern cyprus and what I really like is that they serve sucuk. My dad is a great lover of cooking breakfast and it is quite a big deal at my household. A traditional Turkish breakfast will have loads of dishes and sucuk is one of them, for those of you who don't know what it is, it's a red spiced sausage. Though sucuk isn't only for breaky, its good anytime of the day. The last time I dined there, my brother said, get the chops, they are great, so I did and they were succulent and delicious. Everything is of a high standard here, a very good Turkish restaurant. The service is great and to décor to match, it is a small and narrow restaurant but it somehow works. I will definitely be going back.

Shelley E.

Yelp
Wonderful food, outstanding service and a happy, friendly staff. We're on vacation in London and had such a great dinner on Monday we went back again on Thursday -- even though we were on the other side of town and surrounded by restaurants. The place was packed both times and the host/headwaiter was rushing around but he recognized us and made it a point to welcome us back. We had grilled kebabs (tender, juicy lamb and chicken) and marinated grilled quail. Yum!

Farman S.

Yelp
This is easily my favorite restaurant ever. My wife's too. I know, thats a ridiculous hyperbole cliché, but its never been truer for us! We lived in London for 4 months, about a mile from Cyprus Mangal. From the outside, this place doesn't look it much, but once you sit down its a whole other world. The main draw - consistency. In the 20-so time we went there (can you tell we're obsessed?), they served the exact same quality of food. I've never experienced that anywhere else! When we returned on holiday in March of '09, they remembered us and hooked us up with a table on a busy night - stellar. I recommend starting with the Hellim or Vine Leaves, then moving on to the Adane Kofte or Beyti (the latter a spicier version of the former) accompanied by a Coke or Sparkling Water. I think they have a separate take-away menu from their sit-down, and I didn't really have as great an experience with take-away. I love this place!
google avatar

Oliver A.

Yelp
This place is a little gem that serves beautiful kebabs and grilled meat. Don't be put off by the slightly grubby exterior and take away style entrance. Get yourself in the back, order some Turkish beer and eat some delicous grilled meat. This place is in my top 5 kebab places in London and those of you that read my reviws will know that is a compliment (as I'm practically carniverous) .
google avatar

Dustin E.

Yelp
Very tasty Turkish food! If you like some lamb, chicken and kebabs, you're in for a treat! We went late at night and everything was very fresh. They cook right up front and you can watch if you're so inclined. I would recommend this place to friends for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
Great kebab spot with great service and good hours! One of the few spots open for a snack on Christmas Day. You can watch them cook your meat or halloumi on their charcoal pit.
google avatar

Yelp
OK food, but nothing you can be exited off and a little bit overpriced, good service. Try to find something better in this area.
google avatar

Reid G.

Yelp
This is well-yelped ground at this point, which is how I found it. I stopped in for take-away and went with the lamb shish kebab wrap. The wrap itself, the salad inside, and the garlic sauce are all first-rate. But the star is obviously the lamb, which is really excellent. None of the gristly or over-fatted lamb that gets crammed into wraps all-too-often. It was tender, beautifully cooked over a grill before my eyes, and delicious. I had chips as well, and the whole meal was a great treat. The restaurant itself is a little bit curious: it has a walk-up counter for take-away just inside the door, and that's right up against the grill which serves for the whole place. So the door area is a touch grungy (which is fine by me, if only because it plays to my sense of nostalgia for other places I like a lot), but the restaurant proper actually looks a little swanky. I'll have to come back at some point and try that out. The juxtaposition is kind of funny, but I actually like how well they pull off being a quick "step in for take-away" as well as being a mid-level restaurant. Their food is certainly good enough to stand up in both contexts. My only point of complaint is that I had a 15 minute walk home. Aside from having to deal with carrying something that smelled fantastic and not being able to eat it yet, that also meant that the juice from the salad and garlic sauce had pretty well soaked through my wrap. That was a shame, because it meant that it fell apart as I was eating it. Anyway, not their fault at all: I should have gotten it without the wet stuff on top given that I knew ahead of time that it was going to be a bit.

Deanna M.

Yelp
I was craving a shawarma sandwich and yelp told me to come here. I was a little disappointed to find out that they don't serve that specific kind of food. More kebabs than shawarma. I ended up ordering lamb kabob and salad. I was no longer disappointed. There is a reason that lamb is their specialty because it was absolutely delicious. Service was not great-I had to keep asking for more water and it wasn't always easy to catch their attention. Excellent food made up for the lack of service.
