I had a very disappointing experience at d bar in Denver Airport. The staff member who helped me was polite and kind, but I didn’t realize until after I ordered that she was visibly sick. She was coughing repeatedly while working, and more concerning, she was handling silverware and food containers while doing so.
Because my son is immunocompromised, I asked her not to handle my food any further, and she was understanding about it. However, by that point the damage was already done. I felt uncomfortable and ultimately decided not to eat the food at all because I was worried my containers had already been handled while she was coughing.
I understand people get sick, but food service — especially in a busy airport — requires strict hygiene standards. Employees who are actively ill should either be wearing a mask or not be working with food at all. This situation should never happen, and management needs to do better to protect customers’ health.
Very disappointed, especially given the prices and expectations of airport dining.
