D E Thai Kitchen to expand from the Arts District to the Southeast | Eater Vegas

"Heading toward its second anniversary in the Arts District, a locals-oriented spot led by chef-owner Jompon Chotikamars serves Bangkok street food and Southern Thai–style flavors; D E Thai Kitchen replaced Rock’N’oodles a few steps from Charleston Boulevard back in 2018 and is promising a second location that should debut "before summer." Signage is already up at the Desert Diamond Plaza retail center (at the intersection of Windmill Lane and Las Vegas Boulevard), less than a mile from the Las Vegas South Premium Outlets and sitting next to Farmers Market Hawaii; the new space is larger than the 900-square-foot original but is expected to keep the casual counter-service atmosphere. Its very popular menu features tom yum and tom kha soups, larb salad, rice and noodle choices with a spin on pad Thai and pad see eiw favorites, a full range of curries, and adventurous house specials including the colorful yen ta fo pink seafood noodle soup and deep-fried tilapia dishes." - Bradley Martin

Google
This Thai place was recommended by a coworker and it definitely lives up the expectation. The pad see Eiw was amazing. I can even say that it's the best one I've had in Las Vegas. It very flavorful and very rich. My only regret was getting a spice level of 2 mainly because I didn't want the flavor to be ruined, but looking back at it, I should have gotten a 7 or 8. I'd love to come back and try the other items they have in the menu. This place was amazing and delicious.

Google
The most friendly staff I have encountered at any Vegas Thai Restaurant. Really nice people. The food was standard. Curry pretty creamy and heavy, like almost always in the US. I ordered spice level 8 of 10 (should have been really spicy) but it was not spicy at all.

Karyn F.

Google
Quaint space. Very nice server. My first Thai restaurant so I’m not a good judge. Everyone else said it was good. I said mild so it wasn’t spicy at all.

Stopped by here for a quick dinner. It'd a nice quaint spot located on Las Vegas Blvd in a strip mall. Easy parking. I had the pad see eww with tofu. I loved the smokey taste and the tofu was cooked perfectly. I also had a glass of red wine. Service was good and the worker was very nice. Great spot and I'll return when I'm in the area.

Google
We've sampled the Thai coconut soup at half a dozen restaurants recently, and DE Thai is definitely the best! Their appetizers are also very good. I'm not a big veggie person, so I usually have Pad Thai. It's delicious! This is the Thai restaurant we go back to, again and again.

Google
The thing that's great about small places is that they tend to pack big packages! Now when I say that this place is small, I mean it quite literally. However, because it is small, the staff are pretty on point and tend to your table relatively frequently. The food is fantastic! A lot of the foods come with a pretty fleshed out spice selection for any of your flavor needs. I had myself the drunken noodles, which you can never go wrong with, and these guys definitely prove that. I thought it was interesting that rather than pork that you would imagine would be pan-fried, the pork that they offered was crispy as if it was deep fried, which was pretty unique. If you're in need for Thai food, I highly recommend this place!

Google
It was my first time here. As I came it i was greeted with an amazing atmosphere and lovely music. I was sat and given a menu right away. I ordered the Thai tea and a water. For food I ordered egg rolls, a seafood tom yum soup without mushrooms and tomatoes also with a side of white rice. The service here was quick, respectful and friendly. They were very attentive to me and the other costumers. The tom yum soup was delicious it came with calamari, shrimp and mussels. It was my first time trying mussels and they were amazing! I just wish they had some fish added to the soup. The egg rolls were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. At the end of it all I was so full and couldn’t finish everything as much as I wanted to. Please come try this welcoming restaurant for the service, the food and the quality.

Google
This place was as good or better than even my favorite Thai restaurants (like Lucky Thai or Serrang Thai). The pork fried rice could be the best I've ever had. Very good. The Basil Chicken was sooo good. Got it spice level 10, and it would probably burn the ears off of most, but that is kinda my preferred level of spicy...burns to a good degree but still tastes great. The server was quite shocked I ate it all. But I would have had two plates of it as it was that good. The pad kee mow was really good too. Only suggestion might be the sauce for the spring rolls was only the peanut sauce. I prefer either a spicy sauce or the tangy orange sauce from other places. But aside from that this place is fantastic.

Yelp
What a hidden gem!!!!!! Tiny little spot with huge flavor from the Thai cuisine. I have been here a few times now and all the dishes have been delicious. The Pad Thai was on point and flavorful. It was a nice size portion with a good amount of pork. The yellow curry was excellent and so far my favorite dish here at D E Thai. Generous portion of chicken, properly prepared vegetables with a great curry sauce. The rice was fresh and well prepared. The Tom Yom soup was a bit spicier than I like but I did ask for a 7. Next time I will do a 5 or 6. The broth had good depth and it had the right balance of meat and vegetables. The restaurant itself is very small but intimate. The wood benches on the wall and the wood chairs are not the most comfortable but they are ok for a meal. Just don't plan on lingering too long. I will coming here regularly!

Yelp
This restaurant is quite small and had about maybe 6 to 8 tables. You could tell a lot of people were ordering takeout. Service was fast. We ordered black pepper beef. My husband enjoyed it. I ordered pork basil stirfry. It was flavorful, but did not have that much basil in it. They use sliced pork instead of the ground pork that I'm used to, but it was good. We also ordered chicken pad Thai ,this was our first time coming here. I would come back to try other dishes or order for takeout

Yelp
I did order to go. There was only one person working but all 4 or 5 tables were full. I waited to order my foods for a while. It was my first time to visit this restaurant so I didn't know one person handed everything. I ordered pad thai. The noodles were like angel hair. It was very thin and all stick together. I didn't like it. The food price was cheaper than other Thai restaurants I usually go.

Yelp
Great Thai food. We had egg rolls, Pad Thai and both were delicious. Service was very prompt

Yelp
De Thai Kitchen 2 is a super cute, charming hole in the wall style spot. We've been to the one downtown and loved it, so when we were on LVB and noticed a 2nd one, we had to come in to try. Firstly, the service was absolutely amazing. I wish I remembered our servers name, but she was super attentive and kind :-) For food we ordered the Tom Yum (veggie) soup, Pad Thai (chicken), a veggie stir fry (beef), thai iced tea, and finished off with the mango sticky rice. Man- everything was really good. The soup was seriously the most flavorful Tom yum I've ever had, and I order it at every Thai place! 10/10

Yelp
This place is a gem. I'm really glad I found this place while searching for a Thai place. Not many Thai restaurants serve Thai boat noodle because it's really hard to make. But this place makes their Boat noodle broth from scratch with authentic ingredients. The fried cat fish is a must to try as well. It goes really well with the fried basil they added as garnish. The koh mooh yang goes really well with sticky rice and you can't have sticky rice without the Larb. The thai tea lemonade was sweet and sour, and refreshing. The service was impeccable. We were greeted right away with a friendly smile. Which made me feel really welcomed. The restaurant itself was very cute and nicely decorated. The atmosphere was relaxing and a great environment to just unwind and enjoy your food. This place will be one of my go to's for a great Thai food.

Yelp
Small restaurant and okay service. Their Tom yum soup is probably the best we've tasted so far and their spice level is pretty good! Would come back to try more on their menu. Definitely worth the try if you love Thai food!

Yelp
This is a delicious Thai restaurant. Simply decorated and very kind wait staff. I highly recommend this place for dinner but it also looks like lunch would be awesome too

Yelp
Food: Pad Thai: 9/10 Deliciously sour and sweet (I chose no spice) with thinner noodles than expected. The beef tasted weird at first but letting it settle into the flavors of the Pad Thai sauce made it better with each bite! Pad Mao: 10/10 Highly recommended, I'm going to order this one next time. It has great texture and flavor, plus veggies for health lol I just wish the portions was a bit larger, but still very worth it! Service: 10/10 Very kind waitress, she showed us plenty of attention and care! The food was also made with love Ambiance: 10/10 We loved the little Thailand aesthetic in here! It's small, but I'd def gives of mc vibes :) Thank you!!

Yelp
I got two entrees for myself. Lol. The pad see ewe was lacking flavor to me and the beef was pretty tough. I didnt like the veggies. But the crunchy stuff on top was kinda nice. The basil chicken was nice though. A little too saucy, so I added more rice when I got home. It was really tasty the next day. Level 2 spicy was very mild so If you want a kick get 3+. The restaurant is small and the staff was really nice. It's kinda out of the way for me so I wasnt amazed where I'd come out of my way to come back again. I think they broadcast on street food so maybe I shouldve tried something else. All entrees costs are dependent on the protein you choose.

Yelp
Three adults and one child ordered a variety of Thai food. The food was authentic and tasty. Small shop. The single waitress was quick and very nice. Will return.

Yelp
It was a great start to our vacation by opting for a takeout dinner from this restaurant!! It was an off the strip restaurant recommendation. Food here was spot on for flavor and economy! I ordered the Beef Kao Soi. Spice level 8. I never had this dish before and I absolutely loved it! Mrs. ordered their Green Curry. Spice level 4. She was fawning over the flavor of this curry for the rest of our vacation! Ian had their Basil Fried Rice (Spice level 1) as we wanted him to try something different. Portions on their food was generous. We had 2 meals for a grand total of $49.85! Incredible! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
What a hidden gem! I decided to check this place out since I was nearby and it looked pretty from the pictures. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. The waiters were checking on us often and very nice. The food was delicious! I had their pad see ew and it gave me a reality check on my own pad see ew; it was so flavorful, and also saucy without being soggy. We also had the chicken satay and it was great; I'm addicted to peanut sauce and this one was no slouch. They also offered spice levels on the pad see ew and it had a decent but enjoyable kick. There aren't too many reviews but this place definitely deserves more traffic!

Yelp
This place has become our go to Thai spot on south Las Vegas blvd. Great customer service and yummy food.

Yelp
My meal at D E Thai Kitchen 2 was probably one of the best Thai foods I've had in a while. They have two locations, #1 in downtown Las Vegas and #2 on Las Vegas Blvd/Windmill. Neither are particularly close to me, but I came across the restaurant while searching for a place serving Thai boat noodles to satisfy my craving and decided to venture out. It is definitely a hidden gem found in a Smith's grocery store plaza. It's a small restaurant, with about 6 tables and is very clean. Service is very prompt and friendly. I ordered the Thai Boat Noodles and the Spicy catfish, both were very tasty, high quality, and super fresh! The serving size of the boat noodles was quite large and is perfectly hot, savory, and comforting. The catfish is super crispy and flavorful. Their Thai Tea is made with coconut milk, which I've never had before, it's an good combination and the coconut milk is rich, creamy, and the flavor definitely comes through. One issue I had was when I ordered water, I was told they aren't serving tap water because it's recently been having a strong chlorine smell, and they could only offer bottled water. I agreed not thinking much of it, and when I got the bill, they charged $2 for a Dasani water bottle.

Yelp
Appetizer of Spring Rolls, Soup Tom Kha and Vegetable Panang was extraordinary. Small place and yet the quality of the service and food is above the bar astounding! We have (My wife and I) have been three times and the food has been brilliantly prepared and savory each and every time. This place is a Gem! Highly recommend you give them your attention. D E Thai is our now amazing go to local Thai place! YUMMY

Yelp
If I were just to rate my experience on the chef in the back yelling at the server for taking my Pad Thai to exchange for a different option- I'd give this restaurant a 1 star. HORRIBLE experience for my sweet little family, especially my son who could hear the man yelling from the back of the kitchen! My review for the server was that she handled the situation quite well, and attempted to communicate at her best with me while getting slammed from the kitchen side. 3 stars for her.. First and foremost, as a foodie and a business owner myself, I fully understand that sometimes we come across odd situations. However, it's how you handle these scenarios that either make you stand out, or put you back... Amongst the many dishes we had ordered, my particular dish was Chicken Pad Thai, and it was utterly distasteful and inedible. Which is, okay. If it's not made properly and somethings wrong, just kindly swap it out or take it off the bill, or just take it away quietly and I'll still pay for it. BUT TO YELL AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS FROM THE KITCHEN, it's SO BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL AND OFF PUTTING. The man was screaming at her so loud for trying to swap my dish that I began shaking. I even approached her counter to try to clarify that I'd pay for whatever, and that I could not believe he was screaming.. (not quite sure she understood). It was bad guys, I ordered green curry instead and like a champ she tried to oblige and work with our table the best she could.. but did I truly enjoy my meal? Did anyone? Literally TERRIBLE, how could we? With someone screaming SO LOUDLY? We have supported this Thai joint on every trip we make from LA for takeout, especially during COVID. It's SO disappointing what happened today, and honestly I don't think we will be back. I hope the cook/man yelling in the back doesn't destroy someone else's experience, and I also hope that this business understands that it is OK, for a customer to be dissatisfied at times. It's not a fight. Sorry Yelpers, but heading elsewhere for more peaceful Thai meals moving forward. My family and I deserve that! Shout out to the nice server who took that man's wrath. Thanks for everything..

Yelp
I had called in while I was down the street to place my order. It was kind of hard to hear the person on the phone, there was a lot of background noise, but I'm just glad they picked up the phone. I had tried to call two other places prior to this for a lunch order and was getting hangrier by the minute! I thought I had heard her say they do have lunch specials when I asked, but turns out I misheard her... They do not offer lunch specials here and I didn't have a menu in front of me. I placed an order for papaya salad with a side of brown rice and was told it would take about 15 minutes. I got there within 10 minutes as I was just down the street and my order was already packed and ready to go. Nice! The person I spoke to apologized apathetically that they didn't have lunch specials. There was one party sitting and the decor reminded me a lot of the location in the Arts District, except this location was a bit more spacious. When I got back to my desk to finally eat, I noticed my papaya salad was very mild and come to think of it, she didn't ask me if I wanted any level of spice when I placed my phone order. There wasn't any sauce packets packed on the side either, so I was little confused by that... Papaya salad is usually a staple at Thai spots and this dish was very "mid," as the kids would say... meaning just okay and didn't exceed my expectations. The only thing that stood out as I was eating was I remember thinking to myself, "Wow, they added an unsparing amount of peanuts to my papaya salad..." It wasn't terrible, just different... I guess? The order of brown rice was cooked to perfection though. Overall, I'm glad they were really quick and maybe I'll try it again. Maybe the vibe was just off that day because I was hangry.

Yelp
uno de los mejores lugares para comer thai food pequeño pero muy sabroso si visitan las Vegas y quieren disfrutar de comida rica este es el lugar

Yelp
My partner was working so I stopped in for a solo dinner around 7 pm on a Saturday. The small dining area wasn't overly busy but they seemed busy with takeout orders. I was seated immediately and it seemed like a comfortable and casual spot for solo diners. I ordered pad thai and Thai fried rice, both medium spicy. The employee warned me that they actually do make their dishes spicy so I slightly downgraded my 5 to a 4. The food came out fairly quickly and the portions were large. I quickly did realize that the food is on the spicier side, but still absolutely delicious. The flavors were on point. I brought the leftovers home for my partner and he really enjoyed it as well. I can definitely see us becoming regulars here! I would probably order a spice level 3 in the future but our meal was still fantastic.

Yelp
Visited this place on recommendation by a local and it was a great choice! Solid Thai food with good flavor and good portion sizes! The food was good and the service was great. Small restaurant with only about 10 tables, so service is quick and fast and pleasant. The Tom Kha soup was a good size and had really good flavor. The Pad Thai was pretty good was as well and would definitely eat both entrees again and especially the soup! So if you are in the area, this is a great choice for a good meal with good flavor in a quite and small restaurant with good service!

Yelp
Amazing food, great fried tofu. Quick service and amazing ambience. Unique decoration very warm and cozy feel
google avatar

Yelp
Four dishes, four adventures in flavor. Street food - excellence! The tofu was generous as an appetizer. Easy to share with four of us. Two of us first time consumers- they were delighted. Good food!

Yelp
I had a great experience at this place. I went for dinner and tried the Thai basil fried rice, Tom yum soup, and chicken satay. All the dishes were delicious. The service was excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
Authentic Thai flavors with amazing customer service! The dining area stayed busy, with about 6 tables but the only server maintained impeccable service for everyone and brought out requested items with such speed, no more than a minute's wait. The shrimp Pad Thai and pork Green Curry were both equally delicious and good-sized servings. We also ordered the egg rolls for appetizers, which were also nice and flavorful. I would definitely visit again if in the area after the great taste and even better customer service.

Yelp
My wife and I eat here all the time. They are very good on price, authenticity, heat, taste, and timeliness. Granted they don't have delivery but I understand why. This food deserves to be eaten fresh. We will continue to eat here frequently as we have sampled every Thai place in Las Vegas at this point (including the "high end" places) and this remains one of our favorites.

Jeff l.

Yelp
Went in last night based on reviews, and glad we went. Probably our new go to. Place was really clean and not crowded even though it's small. Server was solo in front but did a great job. Food came out quickly and was delicious. We had egg rolls (great and not oily) pad Thai, and the yum Tom fried rice. All were excellent and tasted great, with large portions for a good price. Will definitely be back
google avatar

Yelp
The house specials were delicious! They had a yellow and red curry mix dish that was phenomenal.

Yelp
From my first experience being here I'd recommend this place to everyone!!! 10/10!! It really lives up to the Thai cuisine and service is super friendly! My family and I loved every minute of this small cozy restaurant! Thank you to all chefs because every dish was as unique as it was delicious!!

Yelp
Landed hungry from Seattle on a super dusty Saturday night. Detoured do the Vegas Outlet Mall in that oh so elusive search for happiness via clothes that fit my oh so imperfect body! Didn't happen. However!!! This Thai food is some of the best I've had in my travels so I want to make sure and immortalize this evening... at least the food part of it! Great service and attention from Jennie tonight. She is very professional, fast, attentive, and friendly. Apparently she's new here, I would never have guessed! De Thai Kitchen is lucky to have Jennie! I ordered spicy Thai basil with chicken, spicy #6. Hot green tea. For dessert, I enjoyed the mango sticky rice, so yummy! Oh yeah, the bathrooms and restaurant are really clean. I'll be back!!

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner. We split the boat noodles and tofu pad thai. Both were excellent, but I thought the boat noodles were better-- it totally satisfied my boat noodle craving. Rarely do I say this, but I think there was too much of a meat to noodle ratio. More noodle to go with all that broth would have been perfect. My wife liked the tofu pad thai more. She likes that the pad thai is more wet than others (I prefer them more dry). I did like that they make their pad thai spicy though; not everywhere does that. She went with the spice level 10, definitely hotter than I need it, but I feel like they could/should have some higher levels (for other people, not me, lol). -Strong AC (helps when you're dying from the spice) -Wonderful and friendly staff -Quick food preparation

Yelp
Found this very small place on a recent trip to Vegas - it has all of maybe 20 seats, so I guess it's takeout business is big I had the Kua Gling pork, I didn't find the spice level that high (The woman only asked if i liked it spicy, and I said yes). I was surprised that when I asked about drinks, she said they can't serve tap water, so if you want water, you have to buy a bottle, but then she poured a soda from a fountain - so you CAN give people water, you just choose not to The way they served the Kua Gling didn't make a lot of sense, it comes out on 2 big leaves, not banana leave type, but a version of a lettuce. Only with the large stem, and the grease off the pork, you can't pick up the leaf, you can't use it like a wrap, and the outer edges were tearing as you try to scrape the pork off of it The food was tasty, server disappeared for most of the meal - i won't make a special trip here next time I am in Vegas

Brandon E.

Yelp
Love this place. The crying tiger is to cry for! Small little place but it's one of my favorite Thai places
google avatar

Alicia W.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner while visiting our brother in Las Vegas. We had a curry and pad Thai, which offered the perfect amount of spice whether you wanted it, mild medium or hot.
google avatar

Travis P.

Yelp
We came here after a day of climbing out at Red Rocks because they had Vegan food and were known for their spicy food. The food was fine (I wasn't especially hungry so I got soup), but you have to pay for water, which is such a rip-off and not (as I pondered at the time) a standard practice in Vegas.
google avatar

Marlene T.

Yelp
Taking me back to Thailand. This place has dishes you'd find on the streets of Bangkok. The Isaan-style food was delicious, the flavors were impeccable, and everything here just reminded me of the food we had when we traveled. Try everything if you can. But if you can't, my favorites were the grilled pork neck, boat noodles, and kua kling.
google avatar

Donny D.

Yelp
Highly Recommended One of the best thai street food in town This place is underrated
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
I've tried this place twice now. Had a Thai food craving for some Tom Kha soup. I love getting it with shrimp added in. If you like lemongrass and coconut it's such a good soup to try. I also got the Crying Tiger beef that you dip into their plum sauce. It's so amazing. I ordered the papaya salad. They asked me how spicy I wanted it 1-10. I asked for 8! It was really spicy but really good! I would recommend this to anyone who loves authentic Thai food. I did do a walk in and I had no issues with parking. I was actually able to park right in front of the restaurant. I wanted to end the night with mango with sticky rice, but mango is out of season right now, so it looks like I will have to come back to try it !

Yelp
Great food and service! Pad se ewe is excellent. Been several times and food is consistent.

Havasu M.

Yelp
Absolutely some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Staff so friendly and absolutely comfortable in the dining room.
google avatar

Devianna C.

Yelp
The place is rather small inside only a few tables with seating. It's located in a market plaza so there's tons of parking. I ordered over the phone. A pad see ew with spicy chicken. It was a good size portion for $14 and It tastes okay at first however it was rather oily. And I only ate about half. I actually ended up getting some heart burn that lasted all throughout my drive back to LA. Really needed a Tums.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have tried COUNTLESS Thai restaurants in Vegas and we stumbled upon this place and so glad we did. Best Thai we've had so far! It was so good that we ordered another Pad Thai to go on our way out so we could have leftovers for dinner. If you like spicy, keep in mind that 3-4 is enough to make someone sweat. This will be one of our go-to Thai restaurants, and they had the best music playing.
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
We had dinner here last night, selecting it only as it was close to our hotel, the Hilton Cancun. It was the best fried rice we've had anywhere. Next time we're in Vegas we will go out of our way to eat here. Our waitress warned me not to order the 6 out of 10 spice level, but I ignored her as I like hot. Four would have been fine
google avatar

Mary V.

Yelp
Food truly outstanding! Six meals...six perfect meals. Panang Curry, Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai chicken and shrimp, Chicken Basil with Thai Teas. One meal was better than the other.

Keeping I.

Yelp
The best Thai food I've had ever!! Every single item we had was delicious. We came back 3 time!! We will always stop by whenever we are in Vegas, it was THAT good!

Candace G.

Yelp
I'm literally writing this as I'm eating ! The food is so good ; yellow curry and egg rolls was my order. And of course a Thai tea . Customer service was great and the staff was nice . I'm one for a vibe and this place has just what I wanted for my lunch before work .

Brian D.

Yelp
Giving 5 stars again because you really know a place is good when you get home and go to your normal Thai place that you love and all of a sudden you find yourself missing a restaurant from another city. Great food! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Stopped by on my drive back from Vegas. Amazing food. As vegetarians we found plenty options on the menu. Must try the spicy basil stir fry and the spicy basil fried rice. Owner is extremely nice and took care of us. Very clean and simple place.
