We stayed one night (July 29–30), traveling as a couple with our 5-year-old daughter. Before booking, we called the hotel to ask if we needed to book for 3 people, as our daughter would sleep in our bed. The receptionist clearly told us that booking for 2 was sufficient. Based on that information, we booked a double room and even added a note mentioning we’d be traveling with our child.
When we arrived late in the evening, we were warmly welcomed and impressed by the hotel’s high standards and beautiful setting. However, during check-in, the receptionist casually mentioned that an extra charge of €50 would apply for the third person. We explained our phone conversation from the day before, and he seemed to understand.
The next day during check-out, a different receptionist insisted on charging us the €50. She claimed to have spoken with the colleague from our phone call, who allegedly only said our daughter could “sleep in the same bed”, which is not what we had asked. We communicated entirely in Croatian at every stage - during the phone call, at check-in, and at check-out - so there was no language barrier or misunderstanding. Additionally, the room we booked was for 2 people with just one queen bed, and we received no additional service in return for the €50.
We were disappointed that the hotel refused to acknowledge their mistake or offer any goodwill gesture. It left a bitter taste in what would have otherwise been a great experience.
While the hotel is excellent in terms of infrastructure and setting, we were let down by the lack of responsibility and customer orientation in this situation.
