I walked in first with a man walking in behind me. One of the baristas, saw me, greeted me first, then proceeded to take the gentleman’s order first as I was starting to speak. It was weird. After they were done with him I ordered a small almond latte. The espresso was bitter. I had to add sugar to finish it. For as much as they charge for a very small latte it wasn’t worth it. The atmosphere is chill though. Plenty of space and there’s a very clean bathroom available.

I've popped into this cafe before for coffee and pastries and always have a positive experience. Yesterday I had lunch here and was very happy I did so. The pesto fusilli was great, the service is quick, and it doesn't get overly crowded like other cafes I've been to, it's a very nice space.

Da Capo is my favorite cafes in New York City. I’ve been going here for years. The staff are so welcoming and the owners are very attentive to the customer. They really care about creating a nice and comfortable space. They recently added WiFi so I’ve been getting work done here in the mornings, and their coffee always helps me start my day. The paninis are really good, especially the new turkey one. I’ve made this place one of my favorite spots and even had a few birthdays here over the years, it’s just that special. Love the business and I wish more places were like it!

Stumbled across this little coffee shop and i was attracted by the cute store front. I ordered a macchiato and apricot croissant and both were sensational. The baristas were kind, efficient and accommodating but what i loved the most was the cafe’s ambience. If you are looking for a cozy neighborhood coffee shop, serving quality coffee, this is the place to be. 10/10 would recommend to a friend and best believe I will be returning for that croissant.

I’ve been going to Da Capo for years now and have never EVER been let down by the quality of food and service. The paninis are to die for, the coffee is rich and made with love, and the service is top tier. I highly recommend for your next lunch spot dive!

I’ve been going here every couple of months for probably four years now. I love the paninis, espresso, and ambiance. Both the espresso and ambiance feel European to me. They have some staff that are exceptionally friendly and energetic and make it a special place.

Stopped by for for a quick drink on a Monday night with my S/O. Had such an incredibly pleasant and welcoming time from the bartender Brian. Ended up getting the pesto farfalle to go which was AMAZING (kitchen closes at 9 but they squeezed us in). Such a neighbourhood gem, will absolutely be back for the service and divine espresso martinis

A hidden gem this place truly is! I have passed so many times without realizing it until a friend of mine invited me out. The lighting, ambiance, and decor has a modern rustic feel, which I can appreciate. The bartender/waiter, Brian (I believe), is extremely kind and friendly. His service is awesome! I ordered the 4 cheese pizza and it tasted great and kept me satisfied. My only complaint is that the dough was overcooked and extremely crunchy. Also the dough to cheese ratio was disproportioned. Other than that it was fresh and made to order. I also had their carrot cake which was really good. Overall a great experience, awesome staff, and reasonable prices. Would definitely come here more often.

Da Capo was a flashback visit! It wasn't until I sat down and looked them up in Yelp that I realized I've been here EIGHT years ago! Today I felt like I was visiting a brand new cafe. Arona was the hostess that welcomed me, answered all my questions and provided the perfect customer service. My one uncomfortable feeling is the closeness of customers trying to get counter service and trying to get in and out of the cafe. We were bumping into each other! It's very long and narrow space. After I purchased my Apricot Croissant I was directed to the rear for seating. To my pleasant surprise I was able to conveniently get a table in back where I spread out to be comfortable. I found out later they have free WiFi. I didn't intend to stay long enough to be doing a lot of internet work. The croissant was absolutely delicious and just what I needed today. I would definitely get it again. I didn't have coffee but I did notice they don't have Sweet n Low. Good thing I carry my own in case I return for coffee. I'm upping my stars because it was a wonderful experience. I heard a lot of customers speaking Italian. I'm thinking that's a good sign! I know I'll be back to try the cookies and cakes that I spotted in the display case when I came in the door. YUM

We popped in to get some coffee. Overall I wasn't thrilled with my experience here. The coffee itself didn't do it for me, and felt a bit bland and watered down. We also got it with oat milk, which was a bit too sweet. It also felt significantly overpriced for what we got.

Have always been satisfied with salad, variety of paninis. All coffees are first rate. Staff very accommodating. Seating in rear of shop, stools in front with shelf to place food. Upper Madison Avenue a good getaway from the norm. Apricot croissant and Americano, delicious.

I love the European vibe this place gives off. The coffee is amazing, the atmosphere is amazing. The service is impeccable and like I said very similar to a European style. It has both inside and outside seating. I love coming here and reading a book! Please check this place out!

Cute little shop. Tight narrow entryway to the back but love their decor. All I tried was the cappuccino so I can't say much. I did enjoy it and would like to try some of their other items.

Delicious cappuccino and latte however it's kinda overpriced. I also tried tiramisu one time and it was meh definitely not worth it. It's a cozy ambiance especially for a rainy day. If you have $8 to spend on a small cup of coffee go here if not don't

Came here on a whim after walking through central park and was delighted to discover an authentic italian coffee shop. We got a Mocha and Shakerato MOCHA - sweet, rich chocolate, smoothly blended with the milk and coffee. Do I suspect use of european chocolate in this delightfully rich mocha? probably. One of the better mochas i've had the pleasure of drinking fors ure. SHAKERATO The precursor to the hyped up shaken espresso drink we know at starbucks, the shakerato is essentially espresso shaked with ice to give it this foamy texture at the top. Simple, and doesn't include milk or added sugar. Not easy to find in modern cafes and honestly great to try just to know what the shaken espresso is based off - they make a good one but in general shakeratos are not as good as other coffee drinks you might be able to get.

If you're looking for a cute coffee shop with the most overpriced/mediocre coffee then this is the place you should visit! I got a large caramel iced latte which has absolutely no flavor and is the size of a medium. The syrup that they use tastes like artificial sweetener and the latte itself was just a watered down drink. What was really baffling was the fact that this drink cost me $8 (with regular milk). If you're going to charge this much for your drinks at least make sure they're good. It's an additional .75 cents for syrups and they use Torani which are also sold at Target for $5 so obviously they're just scamming their customers. I don't understand how this place has 4.5 stars they must be deleting reviews or something cuz I was nothing short of disappointed. The only positive I have is that the barista was very sweet, and I grabbed my coffee to go but the cafe itself was cute.

Food 5/10 Ordered an almond latte and it tasted very mid. Not sure how much the atmosphere can save the flavor, but giving it a three star because I care about my coffee a lot. It's a shame because there were so many people out in the front chatting and just having a great time, super lively in the front, many people were sipping on espresso. The back area is more for sitting down. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Atmosphere 8/10 Lovely place to read a book or get some work done, super cozy and the lighting, the color of the walls, the entire back area is great. A lot of tables too! Good for catching up with friends. The only thing is that they don't have wifi, so if you need to go on the internet, you'll need to use your own hotspot. Service 10/10 Super friendly barista, loved the energy and vibes.

Walked in on a Friday morning and the cozy afternoon with coffee and a book vibe immediately hit me. It got a little busier around 9, but nothing crazy. I ordered the caprese panini and the bread on it was perfectly light and crisp. The panini itself could've used a little more flavor but overall good. Also ordered a latte, nothing special, but really enjoyed the handle of the coffee cup (slash kind of want one at home). Would come again for a morning article read and chill. Other notes: prices are reasonable for New York lol, and the service was great

Walked through Central Park and worked up an appetite. Used Yelp to see what was near and wahlah. This place was 4 minutes walking away from where we were. They had a nice counter at the entrance where you can get fresh coffee etc made and grab a quick sandwich or dessert and go. Or if you dining in you walk on through to this beautiful dining room. I loveeeeee the decor. Drink - Prosecco with Averil? (Orange Liqueur) was created for me because they didn't have a sweet wine. Lol. Don't judge me. It was quite tasty and very pretty to look at as you can see. Chopped Kale Salad - Romaine and Napa cabbage, pistachio lime ginger dressing, fresh mint and crispy tortilla chips. - THIS SALAD WAS SOOOOO DELICIOUS. I was mad that I shared it. The dressing in combination with the ingredients were delicious. I mean if you're a salad buff. This salad embodies what you want in a good ass salad. Just saying. Try it. Thank me later. Risotto de Funghi - Sun Dried Porchini, Portabella Mushrooms, Truffle Oil, & Parmesan - A well balanced very good risotto. The rice had a bite to it and was not mushy at all. The mushroom were plentiful and not scarce. It was flavorful and just simply delicious. The portion was very filling as well. It's good when you can get a good risotto that's a real risotto. Highly recommend this dish.

I love this little place to stop in for a drink. The flavors of the drinks are well balanced between the fresh juices, bitters, and alcohol content. Every bartender I have met there is very Jovial. The small bites and salads to order are a perfect compliment to there drinks.

Wonderful spot for breakfast. It's comfortable, cozy, even romantic, with a rear area with skylights. If you like, there's a few tables sidewalk side too. Friendliest staff - shout outs x100 to Nico and Mino. I sat and people-watched while waiting for an friend and ended up with a sample of prosciutto. A sample that convinced me to get a sandwich. Their sandwiches are made fresh every morning; I recommend the prosciutto panini with basil. Their lattes are plainer than I'd like, so I stick to their espressos and coffees. Their cortados are on point. Find Da Capo a short walk from the 96th Street 6 train. If I lived closer, I'd be here way more often. But I still make special trips.

Moved next door last month! Was exciteddddd to try this out! Pretty good espresso and cold brew. Haven't tried anything else yet but this place is next door so I definitely plan to. One thing that's taking stars off is the one main guy during the day. Maybe the manager or something? ‍ He's friendly and all but as soon as a regular sets foot in the door, he dives straight into in-depth conversation with said regular and often skips your order. Then you're standing there dumbfounded like "Did this really just happen?" , waiting twice as long for your To-Go order meanwhile this regular camps out for the next 2 hours. This has happened twice now and the third time, will be a 'walk out - never return' I think... A different, younger barista, also there during the day, is very friendly. Albeit I've only had one encounter with him but thanks for being polite!

Mornings and coffee go hand in hand like vodka and pickles, or hotels and bedbugs. This is a top notch coffee shop filled with energetic, positive people and leaves the best emotions. Not only is the place itself slick, woody and modern, but the gentleman making coffee was a really kind fella and made the experience feel exciting and welcoming. The coffee was top notch, served in individually stamped paper cups. It's a perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and head over to Central Park just a block away.

The ONLY good coffee, food and service in a mile radius. Such an excellent space, so grateful to have a proper European cafe in the neighborhood

This is the spot if you're feeling a pick me up. It always makes me feel a little better. The place is classy and chic. I love the glassware that they provide the espresso drinks in and that they provide you a glass of water like in Europe. I often hear people (probably doctors) having very smart conversations. Yet, the vibes are calming and cozy. It's respite from the chaos outside of Mount Sinai hospital. The espresso is smooth and bright. It's just lovely for an afternoon caffeine hit. But it pairs best with their tiramisu when you need something to make your day a little sweeter. It's my favorite place to sip a cortado, get some work done and hear some intellectual conversation.

De Capo has the sweetest staff and truly authentic and genuine food. Ive been here twice and i was very surprised each time and how good the food was. The mocha latte is one of the best I've ever had, and the prosciutto panini was delicious I've even had it twice. The minestrone soup was good - a little too much beans but thats just my preference. I will be coming back here!

The food is good, sometimes even very good, but the service is all about the main guy, who can be surprisingly rude and brusque. Once he even made us order something we didn't want because, he said, "I have to make money." And yet we were spending $30. Seemed a bit much. High marks for being a charming little place, but low marks for the manager's frequently pushy and rude manner. A little neighborhood spot is best when the people who work there are reliably friendly...

I stumbled upon Da Capo while driving up Madison Avenue, starving and needing a spot to sit and have lunch. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was transported to Italy. People standing up having espresso at the bar, delicious pastries and paninis on display. Not to mention, the intoxicating and pleasant aroma of fresh coffee. I sat in the back, very small but super cozy and a comfortable area to sit whether alone or with guests. I had the lunch special - prosciutto panini, minestrone soup and a garden salad. The panino was my favorite- the prosciutto was very high quality, and as the Italians would say, molto morbido. Oh and fresh basil and mozzarella between heavenly bread. I took a latte to go and wish I had ordered two! The coffee was very smooth and delicious. Too bad they only have one serving size! I will definitely be back soon.

A group of us came here around 9pm so it was close to their closing hour. Despite this, we came here primarily for desserts and coffee. We shared two different desserts and a friend got a cup of espresso I believe. The Tiramisu is amazing and very rich in flavor. The carrot cake was very good as well. I feel like any desserts you get here you can't go wrong. They have a really nice back room to hang out in, enjoy your coffee and desserts, maybe get some work done. It's a fairly relaxing and moderately quiet place for the most part. I wouldn't mind stopping in here again when the opportunity presents itself.

I love going to Da Capo for cocktails. Neil, the bartender, is so friendly and he knows what you want to drink. This is a must try cocktail bar in UES. I'm a big fan of their paninis as well.

FOUR WORDS: Thursday night raw oyster bar! Fantastic oysters on Columbus Avenue! They also have great salads and I have had the caesar many times and the kale dinner salad is very filling with tortilla chips. Good individual margherita pizza is a good deal for $16.00. Skirt steak comes with fresh mashed potato and a very flavorful sauce.

Came here for an impromptu date night to celebrate a work milestone. Saw that it had great reviews and my hub liked the ambiance based on the photos. We arrived at 8:30 and was told that the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes - luckily we both knew what we wanted to eat. We got a bottle of Rose' (after all it was a celebratory dinner) and go the veal meatball for an appetizer. The server mentioned that it was only one meatball but it was large - he was right it was the perfect size to share and delicious. For the main i ordered the penne vodka pasta with prosciutto and it was so good! My husband got the salmon with farro dish and thought it could have used a bit more seasoning. They had good music playing and it was pretty empty (not surprised considering it was a Tuesday). Overall, it was a cool atmosphere and a good date spot - would visit again in the future.

Not a ton of options near Mount Sinai. It's a cute tiny place. Place - the AC was leaking, and water covered about 20% of the back room floor, but the staff just walks through with food, etc - no one mopped up the water while we were there. Service - when we walked in, we were told we could sit anywhere, but order at the counter. We didn't get any water until after we placed our order. It was a long wait for the food, considering no one else had order food. Burger - we order medium rare and got well done. Felt like it was the days of "what's the beef?" Burger patty was tiny, and as well as the portion of fries. Bolognese - gnocchi was fine, but the bolognese was lacking texture and real flavor. There seem to be some thickening agent, not sure what it was. Salmon - flavor was a bit bland Next time I might stick to a espresso & desserts.

Wonderful little place to stop by for a glass of wine or beer. It's quaint and cozy! Will be back!

I used to come here every time I was in the neighborhood (I come once or twice a month for a medical procedure). I would buy drinks, dessert and lunch. In short, I loved it. But the past few months, the service has gone beyond rude and is honestly MEAN. One guy yelled at me to "focus" when I asked him a question about a sandwich in the case (he wanted me to order from the menu, not from what I was looking at). Today, a different guy refused to make me a lukewarm cappuccino with a straw (I had lidocaine in my face and couldn't drink normally). There's no reason to treat people this way, especially around the corner from a hospital.

Overall (4.75/5): Warm in every sense of the word: service, atmosphere, coffee, food. Come by for a quick bite or an afternoon sip and leave with a smile. Food (5/5): Paninis and croissants are incredible. The best on the block and decently priced ($4-13). Drink (4/5): excellent Italian coffee. Atmosphere (5/5): the service is impeccable and friendly. Easy to ask for recommendations and I've always felt catered to. Covid (4/5): Sidewalk seating available (two tables with chairs and one table with a bench). Hand sanitizer available at the counter and masks required. Customers wait in line outside and one customer inside.

Pretty cool space with a huge well-lit back room. The front area gets a little crowded, especially with the (espresso) bar and tight seating. They make a damn fine espresso. And their prosciutto di parma sandwich is great. Only issue is with the service. The only person working was who I assume was the owner, and he was on the phone yelling at vendors the whole time, while people were waiting for service. Instead of waiting until he served everyone, he just continued rudely yelling on the phone. I wasn't in a rush, but there was at least one guy visibly upset with being ignored.

Meh! We walked in and the guy behind the bar was busy talking to someone so we slowly walked to the back and sat at a table...a few minutes later, no one approached us so I went up to ask if we order at counter or table. That's when he told me "counter". Well would've been nice to get a greeting at the door. The dining area was drafty and smalll. If you look up, you can see how dirty the see-through ceiling is. Anyway we ordered and the food was pretty good. It was strange that the food was brought up from the back or the kitchen downstairs, walked all the way through the dining room, walking by all the tables, given to the guy behind the counter to then bring it back out to the tables. Though the pasta bolognese was a small portion, it was tasty. The caprese salad was better portioned and the vinegar dressing was perfect! No one refilled our water glass the entire time. Despite this, we gave 20% tip as we are gracious!

Cute, cozy spot. I've only ever gotten the iced cappuccino here, and it is delightful. I know that the concept of an iced cap is an oxymoron, but it's still enjoyable each time. The taste is bold and flavorful. Friendly service.

This is where everybody who is anybody goes for espresso cappucinno etc from their magnificent machine if they live or work in the area from Mt Sinai to below 96 St including all the many very personable singles who order drinks after work.

So tiny! But so good! It may not be the very best Italian New York has to offer but the charm and the food is worth coming back for over and over again. I mean, the total square footage can't be more than 400 sq ft. If you need a bit of peace from the busy streets of New York and you happen to be hungry, by all means, stop here for a spell. The wife and I split the bolognese, caprese and Niçoise salad in the back section and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We took a whim on the tiramisu and the torta nicciola hazelnut dessert.... oh boy. Both are fantastic. The firm texture and flavors of the tiramisu are excellent, and the torta nocciola has a delicious blend of hazelnut flavors that makes you want more. By all means, if you want a small, cozy place with a limited but perfected menu - stop by.

Ate here with my colleagues for a holiday lunch and loved every second of it! Our waiter Henry was so friendly, accommodating, and patient with our large group. He brought out bread and olive oil to start then I ordered the lunch special which came with a panini, salad, AND soup for $15. Such a good deal! The highlight of my meal might have been my soy latte and the tiramisu cake - so delicious. The place itself is small and cozy with room to sit in the back. Seems like it would be a great place to get work done with some coffee and desserts. Would definitely come back!

As*hole barista. Rude and mean. Overpriced food; he didn't tell us "they don't accept credit/debit". Maybe he was just messing with me and my girl friend. Anywho, very unprofessional and mean guy. First and last time I'm here, won't ever come or recommend anyone to come and waste your money. To answer your question: the location is on Madison ave two blocks away from where I live!!

Hidden gem on the UES. I've walked past this little coffee shop so many times thinking it would be too pricey, but finally went in one day and peeked around. I had the best latte and the best prosciutto brioche in my life. Then I came back again and again. I've been there 3 times in the past week. I couldn't stop. They also have: - great croissants (chocolate, vanilla, almond) - paninis (caprese!) - more brioche (mortadella!) - desserts (tiramisu, lemon pie!) This is my new favorite place.

I have been so sad since the Zibetto downtown closed. Although Da Capo is in a different neighborhood, I will be making the trip up here for sure! The cappuccino is perfection, the pastries - fresh, the atmosphere - European. There is a nice espresso bar to cozy up to true Italian music playing softly In The background. As opposed to Zibetto, this place actually has stools to sit on up front and there will be some seating out back in the solarium. Based on the fact that they have applied for their liquor license, I would categorize this place as a bit more of a future wine bar and light fare than pure espresso bar. As a vegetarian I can't comment on the sandwiches other than to say the patrons consuming them seemed to be enjoying. Would it sound terribly cliche to say that while sipping my cappuccino I felt transported back to my last trip to Italy? Probably. But true nonetheless. It doesn't hurt that the staff is cute as well ;) I would say that if you are looking for a break from the new wave of pretentious hipster cafés with the requisite knit hatted, inked baristas and want a more authentic Italian experience, stop in here!
