Da Cocinita Magic Taco - Review - Kirkwood - Atlanta - The Infatuation
"We like food trucks even better when we don’t have to play seek-and-find like a Where’s Waldo book to track them down. That’s why we like Da Cocinita Magic Taco, which is a fixture at a Texaco gas station off Memorial. And that’s a wonderful thing because we need these cheese-lovers tacos to be easily accessible at all times. The tortillas (flour or corn) have a layer of grilled mozzarella cheese on the outside that also gives them a chewy crunch. And the shells benefit from that cheese wall reinforcement because Da Cocinita packs those things tighter than a Tetris board—a sh*t ton of salty meat (none are the wrong choice but the giant piece of flaky fish just hits different), onions, cilantro, cotija, and an artful squiggle of sour cream.
Food Rundown
Fish Taco
The flour tortilla has their signature grilled cheese on the exterior, plus onions, cilantro, cotija, a sour cream squiggle, and tomatoes. The fried white fish is meaty, flaky, and has a crispy breading that greets you with a pleasing crunch on every bite.
Magic Tacos
If tacos with flour tortillas are your jam, this is your order. It’s all the toppings we already mentioned, plus your choice of well-seasoned steak, ground beef, or chicken—you can’t go wrong with any of those proteins. You can also swap the flour tortillas for corn, which still has the cheesy exterior.
Magic Quesadilla
This food truck adopted Jennifer Aniston’s haircut playbook: don’t ever switch things up. This has all the same ingredients as the tacos (including the grilled cheese exterior) but it’s folded up into a quesadilla and served with sour cream. We’re partial to the tacos because they’re a little less oily.
