"Don’t get annoyed when you hear an overabundance of English, Spanish, and French and feel like you’ve fallen prey to tourism. Da Giacomo at Grand Hotel Tremezzo is beloved by locals, too. The big reason is the glamorous-looking, seafood-centric Italian dishes that never disappoint. The fish may as well have been caught a minute before being placed in front of you, and the paccheri served with lobster is perfectly al dente. Although the entrées are delicious, the raw seafood is the center stage standout, like tuna tartare served with Mediterranean guacamole and the big fresh fish mixed plate. Did sharing as we had 6 persons, tried starters, oysters, grilled snapper, pasta. All very good. Great to share as we had a chance to taste many dishes. The tiramisu was really good, surprised that it does not have rum or any alcohol. Service was really good with good recommendations.

Beautiful interior. Service could be more attentive, given the prices. It is definitely expensive, but the food is good. Portions are small. Great seafood!

Amazing experience. The staff were all so friendly and funny, loving the amicable vibe here. Also pasta was on point, very al dente. Also, i have never had such a big fish before! The taste was soft and not rough! Will definitely recommend to my other friends ❤️

The food was ok but pricey. Some are amazing. But the waiter at our table was not friendly at all. So not a good experience we had. Must try - red prawn tartare, spaghetti alla vongole

Da Giacomo is hands down my favorite Italian restaurant in Milan, and it has been for years. This place truly captures the essence of authentic Italian cuisine, offering dishes that are bursting with flavor and made with high-quality ingredients. One particular standout is their signature red prawn dish, which is an absolute delight for the taste buds. The freshness and quality of the ingredients shine through in every bite. Stepping into Da Giacomo feels like taking a trip back in time to the 1960s in Italy. The interior exudes a charming retro vibe, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that adds to the overall dining experience. Even when I choose to sit at the bar alone, the staff always provide exceptional service, making me feel welcome and ensuring I have a memorable time. While I'm saddened to hear that the sea urchin pasta is no longer on the menu, I have to say that it was a dish unlike any other I've ever had in Italy. The strong, distinctive flavors of that pasta were simply unforgettable. I truly hope the restaurant considers bringing it back in the future. One thing that sets Da Giacomo apart is their dedication to handmade pasta. Each dish is crafted with love and skill in their kitchen, resulting in pasta that is perfectly al dente and full of flavor. It's a testament to their commitment to delivering an authentic Italian dining experience. If you find yourself in Milan, a visit to Da Giacomo is an absolute must. However, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as this place tends to be in high demand. Trust me, it's worth the effort. Prepare to indulge in a culinary journey through Italy that will leave you wanting to come back for more.

Google
Top 3 seafood restaurants in Milan, great food great ambience and friendly staff. The fish is super fresh and with a variety of cooking styles. The menu is wide and allows you to experience both raw and cooked dishes. From starters to dessert it was a great culinary experience.

Yelp
Great dining experience and great food. The service is a good balance of prim and friendly, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is "upscale" without being stuffy. For starter, we shared the snow crab, which was light and delicate. For main, I got the tortelli cacio e pepe with raw red shrimp, which was incredible -- the cheese was strong and liquidy, giving the tortelli the feeling of a rich soup dumpling, and the red shrimp had amazing flavor. My husband got the gnocchetti with shrimp, calamari, and langoustine. The gnocchetti was pillowy, the seafood had good bite, and the sauce was very tasty and rich in flavor. For dessert, we shared a sachertorte, which wasn't too sweet and had a nice subtle fruity flavor to balance out the chocolate.

Yelp
This place is excellent. Good views of the duomo, nice place for an aperol spritz. The octopus and scallops were incredible. The veal was decent. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Hands down, our best meal in Milan. I emailed the restaurant for a reservation long before our trip and was confirmed for 7 p.m. our first night in Milan. When we arrived, they were still setting up and said they opened at 7:30, but the gentleman asked to see my confirmation and he affirmed their error. He was very apologetic, seated us at a lovely table, and asked if we were okay to wait until they were set up. We had water and a charming table by an open window, so why not? Things happen. Once they were set up and ready to go, the gentleman explained their focus on seafood and all of our options. He brought us a wine menu and a basket full of beautiful breads. We decided to order two crudo appetizers. I ordered the saffron risotto as my main course and my husband ordered a pasta dish with seafood. All of the food was beautifully prepared and delicious. The shrimp crudo with a citrus sorbet was especially unique and delicious. The saffron risotto was the best risotto I had in Italy. The only problem was that the portions are not small and we were soooooooooo full!! Not only could we not order dessert, we couldn't take a single bite of the included sweet treats they brought to the table. I would eat at Da Giacomo again in a heartbeat, but I would order less so we have room for those eye-popping sweets. We walked to Da Giacomo from our hotel, which was near the Duomo. It wasn't a difficult walk, but it was long after an already long day of walking around the city. We asked if they could call a taxi for us to return. That was no problem. Overall, Da Giacomo was a classic setting with exceptional food.

Yelp
Amazing old world italian restaurant in this location since 1958. This place specializes in beautiful fresh seafood. They have an incredible wine list which is 47 pages and their manager/sommelier Francesco was very knowledgeable and helpful with american, french and Italian wines. Deserts were also some of the best I've ever had. We had lobster pasta, a whole Jon dory, saffron Risotto with scallops all were delicious.

Yelp
I reserve my five out of five star ratings for truly exceptional experiences and I can honestly say that this is one of them! I had heard about this a secret gem which is a favourite of many notable Italians and it was personally recommend it to me. It's tucked away on a small little street but the place gets packed every night and it's no surprise! The staff are so friendly and knowledgable and accommodating and you might even see a celebrity or two here! It's such a warm and inviting space reminiscent of an old Italian home. I have an incredible wine list and could even accommodate my love of a great Paloma. Their menu has authentic Italian dishes that were so comforting, flavourful and beautifully presented. We had a cute little amuse which was similar to a mini pizza slice not pictured here but it was delicious! Their bread and olive oil selection is complementary and very tasty indeed. You can even add more truffle to your dishes tableside!I had the mixed grilled vegetables with the Fishermans stew which was absolutely exceptional! For dessert I had the most delicious chocolate tart ever and my dining companion had an equally delicious tiramisu. We were both so impressed overall. I would highly highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Great food, location and ambience. Additionally, the staff and in particular the sommelier was excellent.

Yelp
We have had a wonderful extended stay in Italy this summer - and this is the WORST DINING EXPERIENCE by far. 1). Service - we had reservations booked through our hotel, but we were met with suspicion the minute we presented to the door. The host had to "check with his manager." Then our waiter greeted us and then largely ignored us for the remainder of our meal. We typically would order more than one bottle of wine for our party of 5, but we did not have the opportunity because the waiter never came back after our bottle was empty. The air of AGGRESSIVE DISDAIN to this establishment and the amount of ridiculous, pompous strutting that occurs with the manager and staff would be much better served by a lesson in true hospitality and the kindness that is so common in Italian restaurants - but NOT in Da Giacomo. 2). Environment - LOUD. SO LOUD. Could not hold a usual conversation without shouting over the music and other patrons. 3). BUGS - our table was overwhelmed by multiple mosquitoes during our meal. When we questioned the manager (we were dining inside) - his response was "they are everywhere this time of year." I have yet to go to another restaurant in Milan (inside or out) that had the number of mosquitoes we were literally fighting, and some were just dead on the table. 4). Food - MEH. A tourist trap for sure - so disappointed in our hotel concierge for the recommendation.

Yelp
I was scheduled to join Da Giacomo for NYE dinner 2021. To do this they asked for a deposit which I gladly sent over. The problem was that they ended up having to close the restaurant due to covid and I have been now fighting with them to return my deposit for two+ months. They have consistently lied to me over and over again about returning it. Avoid this restaurant at all cost, especially if you have to send a deposit in advance.

Yelp
One of the best Italian Restaurant I've ever been! Came here with a group of people with no reservation on a Monday night at 7pm. The restaurant seems empty and we were sat down shortly. The decor is elegance and vintage! Love the ambiance. The highlight of the night has to be the deserts cart! It was beyond!

valerie l.

Yelp
Absolutely brilliant food. The atmosphere is charming. The service excellent. And each course was better than the next. We started our meal with complimentary focaccia. We then had the tuna tartare, which was excellent. Then the squid with asparagus which was beyond amazing. We then had the tagliatelle with king crab. I must mention two of us shared each course. I then had the sea bass which was the only disappointing item. I ended with a miniature strawberry fruit tart which was worth every bite. We also enjoyed the house Prosecco . When in Milan it's a must visit.

Yelp
Our group made reservations and still had to wait half an hour after. Also waited about 40 minutes in between each dish- I know that dinners move at a slower pace in Italy than a fast-paced New Yorker would like, but this was grueling and so much slower than our others meals in Milan. It was 11pm and we were tired from a whole day from a convention, and no one really advised us on how long everything was going to be. 1.5 stars off for that. 0.5 star off for the uni pasta- I've had uni pasta before so I understand that it could taste a bit more "seafood-y" than regular seafood pasta. However, my friend and I (who also got the same thing) felt that we tasted the whole ocean from eating a few bites. A bit too much and hope they can figure out how to tone down the taste.

Yelp
This is arguably the best Italian restaurant that I have ever been to. It is as good as Italian goes, in my opinion. The whole dinner was a blast, here's the detail. Started with a slice of welcome Pizza-like dish from the chef. Raw shrimps - 5 stars, it is just like eating candy from the ocean. Sweep and fresh and all the good stuff included from the head. Sea Urchin pasta - oh god, just the best. normally it's very hard to combine the two together, but it's just umami here. Lobster pasta - the pasta was perfect. it was filled with the flavor from the lobster and the tomato sauce, you get half of a lobster in this dish Fish - any fish, whether cod, bass, salted or grilled, as good as it gets Dessert cart - very cute, very good The only downside was, I ordered a cup of soup with some small shrimp and squid, and it was 35 euro....while most of the main course were in the 25 euro range....I don't understand...but everything else was divine.

Yelp
Our hotel Mandarin Oriental Milan made the booking, the table was so bad that when we requested the manager to seat us to another table he refused. We called the hotel concierge who very promptly put pressure on the management and they gave us a better table. Now about the food, the only good thing at the restaurant was their complimentary pizza, the rest I would not like to discuss further and the only thing I can say it was not worth the time. The service was atrocious and so was the attitude. Must avoid this place if one wants to have a good dinner experience.

Yelp
I have been dreaming of this restaurant for days! It's unassuming and fantastic at the same time. It's loud, casual and the food is downright ridiculous! They start you out with a piece of pizza. It's covered in anchovies, so it wasn't for me but the gesture was nice. We ordered several things for the table. The highlights were the pasta with shrimp and zucchini flowers as well as the lobster spaghetti. The veal milanese was another winner. I ordered an excellent super Tuscan by the glass. The la bomba was one of the best desserts I've had in recent memories!

Yelp
The seafood restaurant was recommended to us by several people and it did not disapoint. Even the taxi driver told us the food was very good at Da Giacomo. If you like seafood, make sure you book a table.

Fanta T.

Yelp
A TRADITIONAL iltalian food restaurant, quite good for seafood dishes. it's salad and Appetizer are very impressive.

Eric G.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, with very kind service from all the employees. Even if I had a quick Italian lunch I enjoyed it so much. I am enclosing what I had.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant. It is a wonderfully restored, upscale place with great service and fantastic food, with a heavy emphasis on very fresh and skillfully prepared seafood. The room itself is very soothingly decorated and has beautiful pale green moldings and other charming details. The tables are spaced far enough apart to permit civilized conversation. The kitchen welcomed us with a gift of squares of delicious anchovy pizza. Mmmmm that was good! We then shared a beautiful and very fresh warm seafood salad. It was immense and perfect for sharing. Next we had tagliolini with crab sauce, which has to be one of the top five pastas I have ever eaten, as well as spaghetti with prawns and zucchini flowers, which was also fantastic. We then had grilled swordfish over an arugula salad and grilled branzino, respectively. I loved the swordfish, which was cooked perfectly and was succulent and full of flavor My dining companion and I had a difference of opinion on the branzino, which I thought perfect but she deemed to be slightly overcooked. Dessert was wonderful. The millefoglia with alpine strawberries was pastry perfection. We had read that this is a favorite place of Giorgio Armani and other Milanese cognoscenti. Now we know why. This should be on your list of places not to miss, well worth a ten minute taxi ride from the city center!

Nancy B.

Yelp
Food was just OK... I didn't think it was amazing for what it should be in Italy... One thing I definitely know they sucked was service!!!!

dexter p.

Yelp
Everything was fresh and delicious, but the pasta with sea urchin is to die for. The dessert cart was divine; remember to leave some stomach for it !

Merijn H.

Yelp
The Giacomo restaurant is a beautiful restaurant in Milano. Next door to the bistro, this is a small, cozy, classical restaurant. The interior looks like an antique Milano residence. The restaurant is quite exclusive and you need to make reservations ahead. The menu is typical Italian with a focus on seafood. Most visitors were rather formally dressed. We had nice seafood antipasti. The menu stated fish antipasti and although there was no real fish .... the shellfish, crayfish and scallops were really nice. The great pasta with scallops is one I would definitely come back for. If you want to do the whole antipasti, prima and segundi menu, you better share some of the dishes with your partner because you really need to keep some appetite left for the dessert. The trolley with desserts is so nice you would just wish a bit of everything.

Yelp
food was unreal and service was absolutely amazing! Our waitress Natalia was phenomenal. She was hilarious and extremely knowledgeable of the menu. She created a full 5 course meal for us that was delicious!

Amber D.

Yelp
We arrived just before midnight and had the most pleasurable experience. A wonderful waiter and the most flawless food. I think of it so much - can't wait to return.

Donna R.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service. Our waitress Natalia was hilarious and really put on a good show for our table.

Jgd D.

Yelp
started with the clam and muscle sauté, they were out of mussels so i got all clams which was more then fine by me. looked like one of the best clam dishes ive seen extremely fresh but lacked the flavor i expected (i think the cook fell asleep) next the sea urchin with clams and roe!!! this was delicious would go back for this anytime! finished with the cod cooked perfectly light, delicate and tasty. if you like high end fresh seafood this spot is pretty good. 90 euro by myself and worth it.

Caroline C.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible service. Only 2 waiters were on staff and they constantly ignored your requests for the bill and to order food. Everyone in the restaurant was having a hard time dealing with the staff. The food was decent but would not recommend.

Frank L.

Yelp
Milan is where I had the BEST dinner in my life at a place called Da Giacomo and I am 100% Sicilian Italian and live in NYC area where some of the greatest Italian restaurants in the world are like Esca my favorite in NYC

A V.

Yelp
Solid 4. Good mix of local Italian and non-Italians. Maybe a sign of Milan! It's a seafood restaurant remember in a place where there's no water around! Good service good food.

Christine K.

Yelp
This restaurant is good, but the Giacomo bistro next door is much better! Better atmosphere and amazing food. When the black cod is in season and on the menu it is the best I have had in Milan.

Bill S.

Yelp
Only had a few appetizers, and a pizza, but would have to give it only 9 3/4 out of 10 stars. Just to keep them on toes. House red was a great compliment. If I'm ever back, will definitely come again..

Bob H.

Yelp
A very good fish restaurant in Milan. I did comment to my Milanese friend that Milan was quite a way from the sea but he assured me it was the best in Italy. Indeed it was fresh and the dessert trolley memorable too. It's a restaurant for a special occasion rather than day to day dining.

Marijan T.

Yelp
I'm not a fisheater in general so it's unfair maybe to rate a place which specializes in seafood. Can't say there was anything particularly wrong with the food, but I did seem to have chosen a not particularly flavourful pasta with redfish as the main course. As others have noted, the mini pizza complimentary entree was delicious, with a very home made taste and thick oven crust. My companions all had similar seafood pasta none if which was much to my liking but the pasta itself, like most places in italy, was prepared perfectly. We had some risotto with funghi as a starter which was spectacular and a tuna carpaccio with salad which for me was too bland. The desserts were also ok, a tart with mini strawberries and some kind of chocolate pastry, but nothing to really wow you (wrong choice again?). All in all, a quality place, and I'm sure real fish lovers will orgasm over it. 60 euros per person btw, with a bottle of red and a few more glasses to top it off.

Kris C.

Yelp
Most delicious seafood ever. Service was spectacular. Every course outstanding. Highly recommend. A must if you visit Milan. Loved it so much we dined back to back evenings.

Yelp
Da Giacomo is a charming upmarket restaurant, which apparently is impossible to get into but for some reason we managed a Saturday night at 8pm and got a great table. Unstuffy, welcoming, friendly, about 70/30 ratio Italians to tourists. Relaxed, informal atmosphere, every table full, gorgeous traditional trattoria decor. Service really friendly and efficient, with a smile. The food is simple, home cooking style. Before they even take your order, they run around with this trolley (probably breaking EU safety regulations) with a huge rectangular pizza, and place a small slice on your dish to chomp on while you ponder the menu. This was the best pizza slice I had ever tasted. Anywhere. The pasta is practically perfect - in fact heavenly. Lobster and crab dishes are very good indeed. One fish dish we had (John Dory) unfortunately was dry, overcooked and not quite fresh - a bit disappointing, frankly! The wine list very good, although a little pricey, but I suppose that's Milan for you However, there are many good wines at excellent prices. Overall, a highly recommendable experience. Months later I keep thinking about it, in spite of the John Dory, so this must be a rather good place.
