The pizza was good but was in the oven to long, and there was not a lot veggies. (If you take half a pizza with veggies). The pesto pizza and vinegar to the salad was perfect together!! The ginger tea was okey but you needed to take the honey yourself and it was so hard så vad standing at thet table for 5 min to get some honey. Matcha latte is the real matcha (no suger no vanilla).

Please employ a few more people to help you with the needed work! How can it be that all tables are trashed with dirty dishes? Inside and outside. I know that the food and coffee can be good, but this setup does not convince me. Shape up!

The soups - 1) bisque on seafood and 2) tomato - were both well balanced. Fantastic! Atmosphere great too

A combination of Swedish service quality and Italien food quality! It is the best café in Gothenburg. If you arr also allergic to bad coffee and fel sick of bad bread, visit this place. There is variety of coffee, modern and traditional taste, sour and sweet taste. And some food for all tastes.

Good coffee (the best we had in Gothenburg, although not up to top London standards) and an excellent cinammon bun. The system of taking orders and fulfilling them was a little chaotic, but speedy enough. There was a pleasant place to sit outside. In summary, well worth a visit, particularly for the cinammon/cardomom buns.

One of the best coffee shop in Gothenburg. The coffee & pastry are no doubt great, been here a few times & everything I got taste great The portion is generous. I love summer vibes. It's the perfect place to just take a break and enjoy the weather. They also sells Parlans product which is nice.

Amazing cappuccino and cardamom bun, highly recommend coming here if you’re visiting Gothenburg! While we didn’t try the gluten free options, but there were a couple of pastry-type items that were gluten free. They also said they have gluten free bread and can make a sandwich with it. Hope that’s useful for any gluten free folks.

Ordered an Americano and it was the best coffee I have had in Scandinavia so far. I think there are two locations now, and I was in the newer of the two (they are basically right next to each other). They seem to be a legit third wave coffee shop with not only good equipment, but knowledgeable baristas. I have been to a bunch of coffee shops here with excellent equipment but the baristas are pulling terrible shots. Was relieved to have a great coffee experience here.

This is a HUGE cafe, literally many stories of cozy places to sit, including a gigantic patio outside. Excellent coffee, just some of the best in the city. Small cafe bites are in the display case and they can make hot sandwiches and salads. I've had a salad which was extensive, the warm lox sandwich was decadent on the freshly baked bread, and the avocado toast is my favorite. A small bite of avocado on fresh gnarled bread. A great stop for a nice cup of coffee in a cozy place you can stay a while. No table service, but they are fast at pushing out the salads and warm sandwiches.

Seriously the best Capp I have ever had! And I'm from the US! Seriously Coffee in Sweden is just better! Biscotti freshly baked ! Carrot/spice cake delicious! You couldn't ask for anything more, except for great service! And everyone that works here are great baristas, they care!

The salad was tasty with a lot of different ingredients and fresh bread but too big to finish. The pizza was very basic. They had gluten free sandwiches but quite expensive for what you get. There is a nice terrace but it was loud indoors.

I dont think I need to say more. Also.. theres fantastic outdoor seating. If I was a local, I'd be here very very often!!!

My cappuccino was strong with good foam (even latte art); our pastries (an äpplekaka and a nutella-filled sfogliatelle) were tasty and crisp. I didn't order a pizza, but the one I saw handed off to the person in front of me in line looked and smelled fantastic. The folks here take their craft seriously, offering a selection of house-roasted espresso beans and even hosting barista workshops throughout the year. Amusing late-90's pop music playing in the background seemed less image-conscious than other aspects of the environment might suggest (or maybe I'm finally old enough to miss what counts as retro). The outdoor courtyard would be nice on a less blustery day, but for us there was plenty of space inside. Free wifi. A good little coffee spot in Göteborg!

There are several coffee shops with as good coffee. I wish tourists could try more than just this place before saying this is the best place in Gothenburg...

Always difficult to judge a coffee shop on Yelp. Everyone has a different point of view of what good coffee should be. Rest assured ... This is a REAL coffee shop ... With real baristas who know why they are doing.

I was visiting Gothenburg, wanted to have a 'fika' in nice place and then work a bit. Have to admit, coffee is excellent, however, the place is not really comfortable. Chairs are awful, not really suitable for sitting longer than 15 min in my opinion. The place is apparently popular, so it's loud. If you want only coffee, then the place is fine. If you need to work a bit, then the place is not suitable at all. Positive side: decent internet connection.

I visited Gothenburg a city where I lived for 7 years before my nice to Oslo. But one thing I always wanted to try but never got the time to do is to try café Da Matteo. It's mentioned in several international magazines and papers and is to be seen as the best café in Gothenburg if I got it right. Its also mentioned in the Swedish White Guide that rank the best places in Sweden to eat and drink. So I finally tried it. I tried the nougat Croissant and the apple juice. Nothing very spectacular to try and all this where good. In fact it was very good but not the best I ever tried of the top croissant of apple juice. I had higher expectations after read and heard all about it. However the the environment where cool it's located in a very central but still a bit secluded part of the city and with a little square in front of it with trendy stores which I also visited. But the setting of the café is old fashion. The best feature is its location and interior or to be able to sit outside and look at people. I would try it again if I got the chance.

En sådan charmiga rum! Detta leder tillbaka gamla minnen från min barndom och hur jag växte upp. Atmosfären har en avslappnad, men ändå rustik känsla för det som är obeskrivlig. Under min vistelse här, skulle jag ta alltid ett grönt te varje morgon här för att få min dag började. En underbar plats.

Very convival place. They didn't have icetea on the menu, but still made it when I asked about it :)

What can I say? Probably the best coffee I've had, I think. I drank it without sugar, which is highly unusual for me. The space is also quite amazing, very raw but cosy at the same time, you basically have your coffee where the owner keeps his big coffee bean bags, a sort of mini warehouse. A must see for any coffee lover in Göteborg!

I have been to Da Matteo several times. Both the coffee and the pastries have been great every single time. I am a big fan of strong coffee and I have been disappointed by some other more popular coffee joints in Gbg, but Da Matteo always delivers. Watch out for the long queues :)

This place is AMAZING! Didn't give 5 stars because my lemon/ginger/honey tea was a bit too heavy on the lemon and I'm not crazy about the sourdough bread (I know, is hard to avoid around here) which was a bit chewy. However, the coffee was really good, the service was great and with a lovely conversation and a smile (the way it should be IMO). The interior was very inviting and hip (but not trying too hard hip). I need to try out the outside seating area when I go back (and the rain stops), which looked very inviting and fun. I camped out here for a few hours because I needed an office (and WiFi) when I just arrived in Göteborg, for which it's also really suitable. I definitely advise everyone looking for a coffee/lunch spot to go here!

The filter coffee was served out of those big containers and did not taste good.

Good coffee, and nice location! My favourite shop in Gothenburg is its neighbour - Grandpa. Right across you'll also find Artilleriet, worth a visit for the interior design interested. Convenient to stop by the cafe on the way to or from different shops in Magasingatan for a caffeine booster. I've also tried the pizza once. It was fine, but not amazing. At Da Matteo, I usually just have coffee and a cinnamon roll.

I love everything about this place. Perfect place for fika! They have thee best coffee (in my opinion) in göteborg centrum. This place is so classic, in the "hipster" part of göteborg.

a cozy and hip place where you get good food for reasonable Gothenburg prices. the coffee was delicious, so were the cinnamon rolls. you can sit outside in a small and calm courtyard.

I live in Seattle and finding great coffee drinking it is a major hobby of mine. I have traveled a lot and have never found coffee is good in Europe. If you know better spots let me know if this is the best in Gothenburg 100%

Great coffie for real coffie lovers, cozy place and good pizza for lunch. In the sun you can sit outside. It was a long line to buy food and coffie but it went very quick because the staff were effective and were working in a hurry. I will really recommend this place!!
