Went to Da Paolo to celebrate my friend's birthday. Situated near Chip Bee Gardens, it took quite awhile to find the place. But other than that, the food was just fantastic.
Tried the risotto with lobster and spinach on a friend's recommendation and I'm glad a did. Although a little pricey at more than $30, it was worth every cent. The portion may seem small at first glance but is actually more than enough for such an intense flavour. The risotto was prepared to perfection with sizeable chunks of lobster and soft spinach mixed in. The sauce was heavenly, featuring a rich and creamy cheese flavour that went perfectly with the lobster and spinach. That being said, it wasn't overdone like some cheesy dishes whereby you get sick of the taste after awhile. I found myself scrapping the plate clean of every grain of rice. If you're a cheese-lover like me, this is definitely a must-try.
The decor of the restaurant was also pleasant, offering both alfresco and indoor seating. Use of yellow lighting created a soft glow which complemented the wooden furnishings. The restaurant is definitely a versatile place that can be for a date night out or a cozy place to catch up with friends. My only complaint would be the service staff. Although they dutifully completed what were expected of them like promptly taking orders and refilling our glasses, they were indifferent and somewhat arrogant. Regardless, this is not something that will deter me from returning to the restaurant. The risotto alone is a good enough reason to visit it again.
