I believe this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Katy. The food is excellent, and I have been coming here for six years, always leaving satisfied. The atmosphere is very romantic, and the waiters know the menu very well. Each explanation of the dishes is an experience in itself. Thank you, CJ, for the wonderful experience.

First time there, I would highly recommend ordering off the board and make a reservation since the place is on the small side. I had the Lobster Fradiavolo, which was filled with all types of seafood. It's definitely more than I can eat at one sitting. And make sure you save room for dessert. They present them like no one else. We had the chocolate mousse cake.

Google
This restaurant is excellent, from service to quality of the food. The sauce remembers an Italian sauce. However, you are in an Italian American restaurant, so the size of the entrees is big. We ordered an antipasto, and to be honest, we barely ate the entree because we were full. I will skip the antipasto and go directly to the main one. But you can take out the remaining food if you would like to.

This is a fan favorite for date night and special events for my family. Service is amazing, the wait staff is always on point. If the head chef ever offers to come talk to your table it is a remarkable opportunity he is an awesome storyteller who has cooked for some extremely notable clientele. Do not let this restaurant go unnoticed. I will recommend you most likely need reservations

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant. We tried in November 2023 to eat dinner here but the wait time was long and we were hungry 😄 We ensured we had a reservation when we came in February 2024. Food was so tasty and the dessert was 💯💥 I am glad we came back. Roberto was our host, and he obviously loves his job with the way he would describe the items on the menu 😃 You should try this restaurant.

We came here for dinner and the food was good and the staff was friendly. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food took a long time to come out though. I saw people come in, order, eat and leave before we got our food. Overall though, a nice restaurant.

Eating at Da Vinci’s is always an experience. The ambience, the food, the way the waiter recites the menu that is written on a chalkboard, the delicious gourmet food. I enjoy coming here on special occasions as it’s not a cheap restaurant and today was my mom’s birthday so I thought it would be a nice treat to take her to dine there. Unfortunately the waitress we got today did not give us the the friendly service we are accustomed to get here. She was rushing us to order. I don’t know if she was new but she was basically reading the menu off a paper, really fast, and that took a lot out of the experience. Up until today that had never happened to me so I will still come back, I believe we were just unlucky with the service. The food was still amazing and we still got the delicious complimentary cheesecake for my mom’s birthday.

7:30 pm Saturday evening reservations... a glass of Proseco and delicious bruschetta, served with 2 spreads. What a great start to a lovely Saturday evening out. My companion and I perused a LONG specials menu in Italian only. Our choices were: Lamache (snails),served in mushroom caps and smothered with perhaps too much cheese, on to Minestrone, freshly house made and absolutely delicious. my companion thoroughly enjoyed veal riviera, while I found the petition de mare to be over sauced and cooked. I was astounded that our server left us unattended after entrée to LOUDLY explain the entire specials menu to the entire restaurant. After asking passing staff for the dessert menu, we finished with house made Italian cream cake and coffee. In no way could the atmosphere be described as warm and intimate. After considering all aspects, we both found it tired and tiny badly in need of a deep cleaning and refresh of decor. We both found the whole experience to be pretentious and over priced.

Yelp
The food is always excellent. Our party had eight people and everyone went home stuffed and still had a doggy bag. It is a very small and when full, as it is most nights, it can be noisy. They only offer beef and wine and that is limited offerings by the glass. They allow people to bring their own liquor if desired.

Yelp
We've had two experiences. The first was a time we were going to go to the other Italian restaurant in that shopping center and it had an hour wait. We didn't know Da Vinci existed, but noticed it as we pulled away. We didn't have a reservation, and they were busy, so we started to walk away, but the manager saw us, came after us, and said he would make it work. We were seated within 15 minutes. Service and food were both wonderful. Another time, a couple weeks ago, we called to make a reservation, got the voicemail, left a message--and they never bothered to call back.

Yelp
Presentation of the platters/bowls was great! I love how they used natural earthy designs. I kinda like how everyone in there had a different style (color, size, shape) of bowl for soups etc. The Food itself was hit or miss for me! Calamari needed better breading and to be cooked a little longer. But the Redfish was delightful. Minestrone just wasn't my cup of soup, but thats not one I would normally order however I'm lactose intolerant so cream bases are not happening. My husband really enjoyed his meal.

Yelp
This place is an absolute hidden gem! I've dined in several times & have always had a great experience. This review is for their takeout menu/service only For $15.95, you get a 3-course meal that is fantastic and is a good value. They have multiple entree options, not as many as in-house dining, but enough of a selection. The house salad looks & tastes like they put their bruschetta on top of lettuce, added cucumbers & olives and called it salad. I didn't even use the Italian dressing & it was so tasty. In addition to 3 courses, they also provide toasted bread slices with 2 types of spreads. Again just good. My lasagna entree was good, meaty & very cheesy. Not a lot of red sauce if that's your thing but it was ample enough for me. The very healthy portion size makes it an even better value because I will get another meal from it. The tiramisu was ok. I didn't prefer the chocolate chips topping. When I first discovered the 3 course meal during the pandemic (2021/early 2022), it was $13.95 but even for $15.95 now, it's still a great deal. When you want a satisfying, high quality, meal at home, order a takeout from DaVinci! And of course, if you want to dine in, you will find many more appetizer & entree options than what's on the to-go menu. It's small & quaint inside so make a reservation.

Yelp
Get a reservation or you'll never get a table! Food and experience overall was amazing nonetheless

Rebecca N.

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend on a Friday around 9. We were able to get to our table within 10 minutes. The ambiance was romantic and cozy with heart theme throughout. The service was great. Extremely knowledgeable waiter who made great wine and pasta recommendations. We got the lasagna bolognese and a penne pasta with sausage and red sauce (I forgot the name). Both came out super hot and they came by with more parma to put on top. Delicious food, attentive waiter, and romantic ambiance make this place a 5/5. Was not going to come because of some recent bad reviews but I'm really glad I ignored them. Give this place a chance!

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. I have never felt so disrespected at a restaurant in my life. My husband and I as any couple would on a Saturday night wanted some Italian food. Reviews said this was the best place to grab Italian. We are immediately turned away when we walk in because we don't have a reservation. I'm sorry, but where does it say anywhere that this restaurant is reservation only? Furthermore, I have been to plenty of reservation only restaurants, stores etc and this is not one of them. Will not be returning and gravely disappointed. Service is the most important thing in HRM and if you can't offer service you can't offer anything..

Gary R.

Yelp
I don't like to give bad reviews but I will say I was disappointed with my experience at Da Vinci. 3 of my party ordered the Caesar Salad. The menu promises that it is made using the original Cardini recipe. I love Caesar salad so I couldn't wait. Unfortunately, it was absolutely drenched in dressing. The lettuce was soggy as were the croutons. I actually like wet salads but this was too much. None of us could finish it. I wonder if the salad was completely prepared and mixed earlier and then sat in the fridge. For my entree, I had the Papardelle Aragosta. I guess I could say it was just okay. The server said it was their most popular dish. Another reviewer mentioned the imitation crab and it looked like they were right. There were pockets of nice flavor in the bowl and other parts that were just meh. It was a busy Saturday and I think they only have one server (it's a very small place.) He was a nice guy but never checked on us and I never even had the chance to get a second glass of wine. It's tough running a restaurant. Apparently, this place has been here for years so they must've been doing something right. There was a young man working there who seemed like he may be manager level or higher. He was very customer service oriented; very friendly, cordial and personable. Everyone there appeared to be working very hard. Maybe they're a victim of post-pandemic employee issues. I'm not sure. All I know is something seemed just a little off.

Yelp
A few weeks ago, I booked a late meeting in Katy and decided to eat dinner beforehand. Called my BFF and asked her to join me for a light dinner and she suggested we embark on a culinary escapade and try DaVinci's in Katy, Texas. It had been on her "to try," list for years. I have to admit the last 3 years I never ventured eating outside the Galleria, Memorial or Kirby/Montrose so discovering this gem was a pleasant surprise. Although we knew this restaurant had a ton of awesome reviews, we walked in for dinner with no grand expectations, simply seeking a good meal and some quality time together. But let me tell you, what unfolded before us was nothing short of AMAZING. As we entered the cozy establishment, the warm and inviting atmosphere immediately embraced us. It felt like we were stepping into a hidden gem, a place that locals rave about but remains off the tourist radar. There's an outdoor patio if you choose to eat outside or you can dine in. It was already warming up in Houston, so indoors it was for us. We were seated at a very small table for two and then along came our server who brought along what seemed like a huge chalkboard with the specials of the day. Here's the kick, while you're scanning the menu the server announces he will go through each and every listing with you. Since we never had this experience before we let him read all the menu items lol. By the time he was done, we were starved and ordered the Seafood Bisque and Seafood Risotto. We were in for such a treat! The Seafood Bisque arrived, a steaming bowl of creamy goodness. With each spoonful, we savored the rich flavors of the fresh seafood--shrimp, scallops, and crab--swimming in a heavenly seafood broth. There was a touch of sweetness that surprised us in the most delightful way. But the surprises didn't end there. Our taste buds eagerly anticipated the Seafood gnocchi. As we took our first bites, the creamy texture of the perfectly cooked gnocchi melted in our mouths. The seafood chunks mingled harmoniously with the Alfredo like sauce, creating a symphony of flavors that transported us to coastal shores. This was the most elevated gnocchi I ever had! Throughout our meal, my BFF and I exchanged genuine looks of pure pleasure. We couldn't help but talk about the unexpected flavor combinations and the attention to detail in every dish. The service was warm and attentive, making us feel like valued guests rather than mere customers. The whole experience felt authentic and unpretentious, reminding us why we love exploring local gems like DaVinci's. As we left DaVinci's that night, our bellies full and our hearts content, we knew we had stumbled upon something special. It wasn't just about the food--it was the genuine surprises, the inviting ambiance, and the shared moments with my dearest friend that made it an unforgettable evening. So, dear foodies, if you find yourself in Katy, Texas, I highly recommend you pay a visit to DaVinci's. Let yourself be pleasantly surprised and also by the genuine warmth and authenticity that permeate this hidden gem. It's the kind of dining experience that will leave you with a smile on your face and a memory that will last a lifetime.

Yelp
First thing to know, if you have a reservation, you probably won't get seated until about 20 minutes afterwards. This is a fairly tiny restaurant and the food and experience is so great that people aren't in a rush to leave. So pack your patience, but it's worth it! From the outside you wouldn't expect the inside of the location to be so highly decorated. Feels like you've walked right into Italy. Once you finally get seated the waiter will run through their entire menu that's drawn on chalk boards and changes everyday. They will be happy to elaborate on anything, so don't hesitate to ask if you missed any details. There truly isn't a bad item on their menu. It leans more seafood but there are definitely steak and chicken dishes. Make room for desert. Most of them are truly a spectacle to see!

Glenn G.

Yelp
We've been coming to DaVinci's for nearly 15-16 years...since they opened. Got to know Alex pretty quickly thereafter and we haven't looked back since. Amazing food, wine, and especially ambience!! The presentation, quality of food (appetizer thru dessert) is outstanding. You won't be sorry if you go visit!!

Adam L.

Yelp
Holy hell! This place is a gem. I would tell everyone I know about this wonderful place. Small, but they are impressive on every level. Service: Brian (I think that's his name) has perfected his craft. Very knowledgeable, outgoing, and knows when to b and not be with maintaining excellent service. The entire staff does a great job. I could have asked anymore of service. Food: The menu is extensive, they have a "regular menu" which has the things you want, maybe a few fun things. Their "chalk board menu" gets explained and described to you and makes u want to change ur mind on the dishes u were committed to. I ordered 4 dishes bc I couldn't leave without them. There are more I need so I have to come back. Antipasta was better than I could have expected. The scallop dish was very good, there was a portobello dish with crab meat that I could eat everyday. I don't remember what it was called but they said it was their signature dish. Pasta was incredible, portion was way too much (in a good way) easily shareable. If they kicked it with a lil crushed red, I would have nothing to mention. All and all, haven't had a meal that made me have to review in quite a while. Don't miss out.

Aden L.

Yelp
Please do not the outside fool you this is possibly the BEST restaurant I have ever been too. The setting is a little smaller than I thought, but it felt more intimate and elegant that way. The staff was amazing, very professional yet personable, I didn't feel like I was talking to corporate robots, and they were extremely knowledgeable of the menu and any questions/requests we had. We had a large party come in about 30 minutes before closing and we did leave about 30 minutes after, that was definitely an accident and we felt terrible, but the staff did not have any issues or treat us any differently. He even gave me a free dessert as a congratulations! As for the food. The food was PERFECT. We ordered from the cheapest to the most expensive, and the plating, presentation, taste, flavor, literally EVERYTHING was to the nines. The lobster ravioli and lobster fradiavolo, highly recommended. We also got veal and the seafood pasta, both of which my family also recommend highly. Overall a 10/10 experience and we are definitely coming back!

David S.

Yelp
My wife and I love this restaurant. Awesome place for date night, food is over the top, and probably the best service in west Houston.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Wow!! What an amazing dining experience. Four of us came to celebrate an occasion and were blown away by the food presentation, the flavors and the excellent service. Our waiter was incredible. He knew so much about the wine, the food, how it was prepared, even the pronunciation of the dishes. For a minute I thought he had to be Italian! We started out with the bruschetta, had lobster bisque and a crab cake and then I had the seafood pasta as my entree while my husband had the filet gnocchi. Our friends had the fish dish and osso buco which looked absolutely amazing. I ended the meal with a cappuccino! The heart theme was everywhere, it was so romantic and cute. The atmosphere is just adorable. Looks and feels like you're in little Italy. I was so impressed and will be back for special occasions!

Evetta H.

Yelp
Very good food I could eat there every night service is great I will tell my friend and family to come out to eat at DaVinci I am happy I found a great place.

Jim S.

Yelp
Amazing food!! Chef with passion that makes to the plate. It's getting harder to find great food - even when I'm willing to pay for it. Just find this spot in my backyard - Sugar Land. LOVVE IT!

Jonathan P.

Yelp
My family went there for my son's Birthday and it was the most pleasant experience we ever had in recently. Wait staffs were excellent and Brian, our wait staff was fantastic. He made my son's birthday special. Thank you. Food was excellent and price was reasonable.

Le G.

Yelp
Was referred by a colleague. I ordered to go Lobster Bisque, Spaghetti Bolognese and Tiramisu. It was not ready when promised but it was so worth the extra 30 minute wait. They were busy and the hostess did a marvelous job between greeting people, answering the phones, receiving new reservations, taking payments for in-person to go orders. The bolognese was so good. Only thing I didn't have a lot of pasta but again it was really really good. The bisque is being saved for tonight's dinner. Lol I can tell you the flavor was so delightful. Oh, I didn't mention salmon mousse was surprisingly good! Lastly the tiramisu, gosh, mine had mini chocolate chips on it! Getting it again. I developed an allergy to nuts and it was so go to be able to go somewhere new and not have to worry about there being a variety of choices. Going back sometime this week, I want to try the pear salad and see if they can do it without walnuts. Yum. If, I ever get a romantic interest, this will be one of the locations, I will request a date to.

Alyce O.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere was beautiful! Felt like I was in Italy again. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Must try

Ashley C.

Yelp
This was one of the most amazing and romantic restaurants I have ever been to. My husband and I went here for a date night and we will definitely be back. The ambiance was amazing and as soon as you walk in the door your transported to another place. The food is unbelievable and the service was the best. If you want authentic Italian food made with love, you should go here!

Lizzie H.

Yelp
Was not a fan of this place. The decor is just too gotti and the food matches the over the top exaggeration the service was good. The food was fine. This just isn't the restaurant for me.

Allison C.

Yelp
My family really loves this location. The food and service are great and the menu and wine choices are awesome!

Muhammad S.

Yelp
I used to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries but lately I have not been very pleased with service and food. It used to 5 stars. And I hope to see them improve.

Aadil S.

Yelp
Terrible experience, this used to be a gem in the Katy area. Food was bland and uninteresting, certainly not worth the cost

Leslie S.

Yelp
I was in Texas for almost 3 weeks, undergoing treatments at MDA. Through Yelp, we decided to try Da Vinci's. We made a last minute reservation and we're accommodated. The food, wine, and service was amazing and plentiful...but combined it was an experience!!! My daughter and I are going tonight and hope for another experience!!! Ask for Roberto--he was in charge of orchestrating our night!!! Enjoy

Meghna V.

Yelp
The food, ambiance n service is too good. Very fancy place. Perfect to celebrate any occasion.

Amanda P.

Yelp
At first glance this looks like a small restaurant with long wait times, even if u have a reservation. If u can get past that then you will realize this place is worth the wait. Amazing service, Amazing food, and the deserts are over the top fabulous. Probably the best restaurant that i have been to in a long time. I will be back soon.

JoAnne D.

Yelp
We were very disappointed with this restaurant. The service was almost nonexistent... maybe only one server for the whole restaurant? The employees who filled our water glasses, picked up dirty dishes and even brought me shredded Parmesan cheese, were amazing... sine again our server wasn't around when our food was delivered. My favorite dish is chicken fettuccine alfredo... it was very soupy. We ordered a cake for dessert and after about 15 minutes decided to cancel the order, as we were tired of waiting for it. The ambiance was nice... until a family arrived with their child watching videos without headphones. It is a smallish restaurant with poor sound acoustics. Sure killed date night for us at 8:00 on a Friday night.

Dianne S.

Yelp
Truly special meal tonight for my bd. Great food and exceptional service. Made it such a memorable event! Highly recommend. Intimate, personal. Truly unique, impressive. Definitely return.

Irma F.

Yelp
This is our go to for special occasions - the food and service is always excellent and you can actually have a conversation- not noisy. We love it and always promote this place.

Linda B.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! The atmosphere was so kitschy and fun. The food was some of the best Italian I've ever had. Excellent service and I would recommend a reservation,

Zanarah K.

Yelp
Food was superb along with presentation. Small quaint restaurant. Service was great everyone memorized the menu of ingredients and can tell you everything in each dish whatever question you have they have the answer!

Nancy T.

Yelp
Wow, what an extensive menu sort of over-the-top. There were three of us, and two of us had the house Pinot noir, which was extremely good. My sister-in-law had chicken fettuccine and my husband and I split a pasta dish with shrimp and crab. Even splitting it we had leftovers. My husband and I also split a delicious salad with pears, nuts, etc. A very nice place and if I lived near here, I go back again. Our service name was 1 cannot remember his name. Also, presentation of food was really good too full to have dessert.

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Food was AMAZING! The ambience was so cute and romantic. The owner also comes by to do magic tricks sometimes. Ordered: Cesar salad Tomato basil soup Spaghetti bolognese Fettuccine Alfredo (Both topped with fresh Parmesan) Crème brûlée Pinot noir wine recommended by a waiter Everything was so fresh and flavorful. We will definitely be coming back. We came at 9:20p so no reservation needed but probably would need one next time

Janevieve P.

Yelp
This might be the best Italian restaurant in Houston. It is a little pricey but worth every cent. The food is rich and flavourful from appetizers, entrees and delightful desserts. Wonderful service makes you feel very special and the ambiance is cozy and inviting. About 10-12 special dishes offered in addition to the menu.

Sylvia W.

Yelp
Ambiance and servers were excellent. The food was over cooked. They didn't trim the ends of the asparagus, so you couldn't even bite it. The lobster was overcooked, making it hard to take out of the shell. My angel hair pasta was soggy and full of liquid. It was souplike. They advertised that the shrimp would be grilled, but we could tell that it was pan fried. After hearing many people speak highly about this restaurant, I was very disappointed. It was very overhyped. We wanted to love it, but unfortunately did not.

Sara S.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance so romantic!! Small and quaint and amazing food. The presentation was stunning. God the Veal Rivera with crab meat and shrimp and linguine. The desert Italian crème cake you need to try! Loved this gem! Roberto our waiter was excellent!

Megan L.

Yelp
Fantastic little Italian restaurant! The servers take time to time to explain the whole chalkboard menu and make fantastic recommendations. The wine selection is wonderful as well. The cozy atmosphere is perfect for both a first date or just a nice dinner catching up with friends. Best Italian in the Katy, or even the greater Houston area!

Chris S.

Yelp
When you think of a place that really cares about every cubic inch of the plate they prepare, that is the craft and preparation to expect from Da Vinci's. As a native New Yorker, I grew up on some serious Italian cooking. Restaurants, home cooking, you name it. I would put this restaurant head to head with any old school Italian grandma from back home. I cannot understate the gravity of that compliment. Not much of a desert guy, but this restaurant made me rethink that statement multiple times. Absolutely perfect. The take-out is something I'm perplexed by as you get soooooo much delicious and hot food carefully curated and prepared for such a low cost. Keep doing amazing things Davinci. It's the best restaurant experience I've had in a long time. Definitely the best I've had in Katy.

Diana L.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. He made a reservation and told them it was my birthday, and he told them again when we were seated when the host asked about our occasion. I expected a cute dessert at the end with a candle like every other restaurant does. Instead we saw the table next to us get one and we still didn't get anything even after paying the tab and leaving a generous tip. It took my boyfriend asking the server specifically for the dessert for it to come out and even then it came out in a to-go box basically ushering us out with no celebration. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if the table beside us didn't get theirs without even having to ask. I guess they prefer white customers. The calamari was soggy and the pasta was just okay. Save your money.

MJ W.

Yelp
Last minute anniversary dinner. Despite being a Monday, service was impeccable, food delicious. We didn't have any appetizers or soup which we didn't need. Servings filled us up. If you want menu, you will have to ask, yes. But it's nice to go somewhere and have something special that they are not going to serve at your chain Italian restaurants. $$$ so not for people on a budget. Also If you just want a special dessert and coffee to end your evening - this is a place to go! The presentation of desserts makes then look too good to eat. The attention is in the details. Food as art.

Prudence S.

Yelp
Service was good, but I was a little disappointed by the food; probably because I went in with such high expectations from all of the rave reviews. Portions are large, which I appreciate. Free bread with salmon and olive spreads- not bad, although I prefer a nice chewy bread over crispy crostinis Beef carpaccio- it was fine, fresh but maybe a bit one dimensional, but I'll admit that I am not a beef carpaccio connoisseur Mushroom and escargot- fresh, but only tasted like mushroom and basil to me. Could not differentiate the mushroom and snail. Also was smothered with cheese, which negated the delicate flavors I was looking for Pappardelle Aragosta- strong seafood flavor, perhaps a bit too soupy, I don't like that they used imitation crab, the pasta itself was cooked well and had good texture Filet gnocchi- this one was my favorite, but it was smothered in cheese which was really unnecessary and cheapens/detracts from the entree in my opinion. The filet mignon pieces were tender and delicious. Panna cotta - tasty, huge portion, nice end to the meal

Danny G.

Yelp
This place will knock a hole in your wallet, but the presentation of the food alone is worth half of that whole. Small romantic setting Italiano restaurant with great food. Every time I've been there. The food was almost too pretty on the plate to eat. I'm Italian very picky about my Italian food. This place extra Primo good!! I expect to pay for this experience, but if you want to impress a first date there's nowhere better than da Vinci's. Their food is a true work of art.

Michelle M.

Yelp
This is not meant to hurt the service staff because the servers were great. Unfortunately, the food is overpriced and not very good. The decor was a complete overload.

Christine R.

Yelp
This place was delicious. One of the best Italian food places in houston. I can't wait to come back and try out the other dishes. Eduardo was our server and he was fantastic.

Joanne F.

Yelp
I've been to this small romantic restaurant for 2 special occasions, Valentine's Day and my nephew's birthday. A bit pricey but worth it. They're generous on ingredients and portions. Tasteful and well presented! The professionalism of the staffs created memorable evenings for all of our guests. My mom and I even received beautiful roses before we are leaving. Cooking with soul! That's how I felt about this place.

Diane R.

Yelp
Can't wait to go !!! Will tell my son to bring his wife and next time me.. I love Good Food and look like I will be Satisfied..

Molly D.

Yelp
We love Da Vinci! This truly is a gem tucked away in a misleading little corner of Katy. From the outside you'd never expect the upscale fine dining experience you'll receive. Food is always amazing. We love the daily specials and variety of quality options! The service has always been top notch. Even during the pandemic when you were only able to order to go , everything was still delicious . The prices for what you are getting is amazing. Can't say enough good things about this place . Definitely give them a try for your next date night or special occasion... they do a wonderful celebratory dessert presentation!

Tod C.

Yelp
This is our go to Italian food place. We took my wife's parents when they first moved here because they lived in Italy years ago and miss authentic Italian food. They loved it too.
