Google
Where did you go? Dabba seems to have gone out of business. I've visited its location in Bethany Village on several occasions in the past several weeks and have called during business hours. There's NO note on the front door...nothing to indicate they've closed. Too bad...Dabba had the BEST Tandoori chicken 🐔.

Google
I generally do not order Indian food from here, but I thought of trying out their samosas. I was quite disappointed with the way it was cooked. From outside, it was nice and crispy, but from inside, most of the samosa was uncooked. I just couldn't eat them, and each samosa cost is $3, which is almost twice the cost of some of the better ones available in other places. I wouldn't be trying here again.

Google
Flavor is good but I paid $17 for the chicken tikka masala on DoorDash and was not worth the money. The portion was small and some of the “chicken” was actually only cartilage. The bell peppers were barely cooked, maybe not at all. Won’t be ordering here again.

Update: looking for some delicious authentic Indian food? Try Dabba's in Bethany Village, the food is consistently good and the service is great! I can't say enough about how delicious the food is and how wonderful the service is! These guys know how to make my favorite northern Indian dishes. Well done again!

Google
Our friend ordered the Kerala fish fry for our Portland visit, as we are from Kerala . I must say I loved tasting this dish in the PNW after a long time, and Indian fish lovers would finally get to scratch an itch for Karimeen fry in the US. Thanks Dabba Kitchen and boldly take on more South Indian dishes to your menu. We’ll love it.

Google
With stiff competition on Indian cuisine, it is not my choice to return too. The chicken makhani was a spicy for me and make me bloated and flatulence. The garlic bann was not garlicky. Price was relative high for entree w/o rice. The diner without dine in seating. Everything was served in take out boxes and disposable wares. I can get a better dining experience for the prices in the restaurant.

Google
Dabba's food is absolutely the best Indian food that we've had in Portland. The quality is consistently excellent. The staff are always friendly. And the prices are very reasonable. We have eaten food from this restaurant at least 20 times and look forward to the next 20+.

Google
Got Paneer pakora, Gobi Manchurian and chicken Tikka kebabs. All were cooked to perfection. Chicken was juicy and had spiced great. Never got disappointed.

Yelp
Take out only, at this hole-in-wall place! Loved their Kerala Fish Fry and Kerala Fish Curry! Short hours though - 4pm-9pm

Patti K.

Yelp
We ordered take-out, and unfortunately some options weren't available. I was pleased they called me directly to figure out replacements before preparing my order. Unfortunately I couldn't rate Pakoras - darn it! Paneer butter masala (spicy) - 5, aloo gobi - 4, dal tadka - 4, kerala fish curry - 4, samosa - 4. At least on the app I used, I had to pay to get rice, which feels like it should have been included at no charge - hopefully that's just a glitch with the GrubHub app. We like to try various places for Indian takeout, and this is one we will try again for other dishes.

Yelp
Let's keep it real... the food choices at Bethany Village is have a wonderful spread, but the authenticity historically have been a mixed bag. To that end I personally rarely get food there unless I'm desperate. Well today I had very little time and craving Indian cuisine and a golf buddy suggested I give Dabba a try. First and foremost it's takeout only but there are a few seats and of course outdoor seating if the weather cooperates. We were eventually greeted with a smile but it's clear this family is playing multiple roles, as there is not a cashier/receptionist. Nonetheless, our order was captured quickly and we were told to come back in 10 minutes. we ordered a chicken butter masala and a saag with lamb. Owner was very kind and gave us some rice as we forgot to order some. I was gonna offer to pay but the digital transaction completed already. In a nutshell, a solid A-. There was ample protein in large chunks which kept things very moist. The rice was wonderfully fluffy and the medium spicy sauce while left me wanting more had enough depth. I'm quite critical about lamb dishes, and to me the lamb, saag was well executed. Garlic naan on its own was delicious, had a soft chewy bite and most importantly had solid infused garlic flavor which is the whole point. I don't know much historically why yelp reviews are a bit more mixed here but I had a pretty good takeout experience and would return. Flavor wise it beats the few buffet options here in Portland these days. but I won't compare to other restaurants with entrée takeouts as I don't have enough to compare to.

Yelp
I did not have high hopes because most of the time Indian places do not taste like true Punjabi food. However, this place has the traditional flavors and the serving size was for 2 people. The food was hot, seasoned, and delivered in a timely manner. I had ordered them using Uber Eats. I had ordered the Panner Tikki Malasa with Plain Naan. I had tried other restaurants in Portland and was disappointed. I will be ordering from here again.

Yelp
We ordered delivery from Daba through Grub Hub tonight. Yes it is literally 6 minutes from my house. Hey, it is Friday. I'm freaking wiped out. Delivery was $1.99 plus food plus tip. So worth it. Matt E posted a review today about sad Indian food that inspired our food choice tonight. Indian ( um but better Indian) sounded very appealing. We are lucky to have very good Indian choices near us, I think because there is a pretty large group of Indian people in our immediate area, a lot of whom work at Nike and Intel. This is NOT sad Indian. It is yummy Indian. -The naan was perfect. Just right. -The tandoori chicken was really good. Juicy, spicy, a little charred. Tasty. -The kale pakora was crispy and salty. It came with two sauces/chutneys. We liked both. -Sadly they were out of tandoori salmon, teen's choice. They called to tell us and we chose butter chicken and rice, which was satisfying and creamy. Happy teen, that has always been a favorite. We ate less than half so we have plenty of leftovers which is awesome! Mom, I'm eating my butter chicken for breakfast tomorrow! Well okay then.

Yelp
Decided to finally try Dabba after being tempted by the smell, while driving thru Bethany village. I ordered paneer tikka masala and it was at best- below average. Paneer was over fried and burnt... the gravy was kind of sweet and heavy on tomato. My search for good Punjabi curries still continues....

Yuli L.

Yelp
My boyfriend found this place and ordered to-go, so I had little expectation and knowledge about what we were getting into. When we picked up our order, it was packaged neatly and waiting for our arrival. Two guys were working in the kitchen at the time, and they handed us the food quickly. When we got home, we were happy to see the food because everything looked fresh and smelled great. He got butter chicken for me, and got the vegetian currey for himeself. Both were tasty! Two things: 1. they didn't ask for spicy level, so we assumed both items would be mild. It turned out the venetian one was (quite) a bit spicy for me! I am allergic to spicy food, so my tolerance is low... However, my bf was fine and enjoyed his dinner though. We joked that this place must be legit because it doesn't offer different chilly level :D 2. we did noticed the price tag is a bit high compared to other Indian restaurant in my neighborhood (aloha). We understand different restaurants have to adjust their price point to stay afloat, and we are fine with that. It's just something to think about when we make our next Indian order. Overall, my BF and I do find the food enjoyable. If you are craving some authentic Indian food, give them a try and see how you like it!

Ken M.

Yelp
This restaurant has terrible customer service and the food is just so so. I would never recommend this place with so many other great Indian restaurants nearby.

D H.

Yelp
Dinner to go, Chicken Tikka Masala, Roti, Naan, Jasmine Rice, Gulab Jamun. All of it perfect. Arrived at a busy time, many orders ahead of mine, but ready in about 20 minutes. Wish the prices were lower, but everything costs more these days, I think they are pricing items where they must to keep the business running, so no complaint. The Masala was so rich and flavorful and the chicken and vegetable portions were generous and cooked perfectly. Comfort food deluxe. The roti and naan were delicious and consisted of a perfect combination of tender fluffy parts and toasty bubbled parts that made for easy tearing off bite sized pieces to dip in the masala. YUM! Perfectly prepared tender Jasmine rice, not too moist, spoonfuls did not fall apart, but also it was not sticky. Gulab Jamun for dessert, imagine a perfect warm orb of a donut hole soaked in a delightful sweet aromatic syrup to top off an already perfect meal. Wow, what a treat. Highly recommended.

Anna L.

Yelp
Friendly staff and amazing food! No dine in and it took a bit longer than expected, but it's worth the wait. I got korma, first time having it. Light spice, nutty, and thick. If you're not good with spice or want something creamy, I recommend this dish!

Lauren C.

Yelp
Their food is a tad expensive but it's probably the best restaurant in the Bethany Village plaza. I love their garlic naan and mutter paneer. Great option for take out - usually only takes about 15 minutes.

Elle R.

Yelp
We've ordered from this place through Uber Eats. The food is delicious but they don't give you rice with your full meal? They charge an extra $3.50!! We had to make our own rice to enjoy with their food. Ridiculous.

Gregory L.

Yelp
Called to order some chicken tikka masala and a side of saag. When I asked for the side of saag the guy very rudely said they don't do sides, only entrees. When I tried to negotiate a pricing for just a side-size of saag he hung up on me. I ended up going to one of their competitors- India Punjabi Cuisine- the food truck in the Arco parking lot off of Cornell. They honored my request for side of saag and both items were delicious. Also, rice is part of the chicken dish and not an extra cost that Dabba charges.

Juan D.

Yelp
Taste was fine, not bad but by no means the best Indian food. Most disappointing part was that it's $13 for a pretty small serving that doesn't even include rice... you have to pay $3 extra for that. Way too expensive for the quantity and quality.

Alyssa S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to get Indian food. Their food is great (never had anything I didn't like) and large portions that last for at least two meals per entree, which makes the price tag well worth it.

Michael T.

Yelp
This is some of the best Indian I've ever had, seriously very good quality. The chicken tikka masala was super flavorful and not as creamy as usual which let the flavors shine through. Very impressed. It does take a little longer to get your food, around 15 min, but that's because it's made fresh. Highly recommend!

Arun S.

Yelp
Had a disappointing day out with Dabba today. Madras chicken curry didn't taste good. It tasted like an elevated version of korma rather. Same with pepper chicken. Biriyani had a punch of ghee and taste wise not great too. Only saving grace were porota and Palapam. Both were very good, but no good curry to compliment altogether. Will not go back again for sure

Nidhi T.

Yelp
We've been getting take-out from dabba for more than a year now. We've always enjoyed the food. They are one of the few Indian places that are very consistent in the taste of their food. Their butter chicken, paneer tikka masala, chana masala and naans are our favorites. Glad to have them in the neighborhood.

Buddy B.

Yelp
Yummmmmm! Order in advance as they like to serve freshly made dishes. Nice seating outside patio but sparse stool sitting in. Waiting for my take out was quite the experience as the yummy smell of curry was taking over my hungry self. I ordered 3 of the full order chicken tandoori and nan. Fabulous, lots of food, nice amount of spice. I like. I can always tell by how quiet the meal is if good. Very quiet meal. Wish they would have up sold me on some rice and desert ! Be back soon.

Ethan B.

Yelp
This new Indian place offers much more authentic cuisine than some other local options. Unfortunately, they also have quite high prices for only moderate portions, and seem to have a very limited range. While the dishes are very good, they mostly amount to the same few flavors with a different meat or vegetable thrown in. I'll definitely be coming here again, as I think I might have just gotten unlucky, but based on my current experience, I'd prefer other local options.

Namitha S.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for getting a take out of North Indian food. The portion size of their food is good for the price and the taste is AMAZING! The wait time can be quite a bit - but I usually go shopping at the QFC in the same complex and the food is ready by the time am back from a quick shopping. There is a ton of parking space. This is a "to-go" place - so be aware that it's not a sit-down kind of restaurant. Would definitely recommend visiting them and to try all the items on their menu. It's definitely worth multiple visits.

Pearl B.

Yelp
I'm not in a position to say this is authentic. I just have been enjoying Indian food for few decades and know what is good. One of the guys identified specific town in northeast India where their food came from when Indo-Chinese on the menu started the conversation. I travel so I really enjoyed that. It's how you keep learning new things every day. Food came out hot and tasty but need to take out one star because they still use plastic packaging. I hope they will change. Will see if it will be five star next visit to this unique mini food store with nice heated patio seating. Just perfect for casual, overcast weather also you won't smell like Indian food like after you go to traditional Indian restaurant.

Caro P.

Yelp
The food is pretty good, but beware they don't provide rice with their dishes (delivery), which is really silly. Every Indian (and other Asian places) include rice with their dishes. Why would this business think that people would want to eat something like palak paneer without rice? Baffles my mind.

Christy T.

Yelp
We got the chicken tikka curry and fried fish! So so so yummy & flavorful (with the right amount of spice) Unlike typical indian restaurants, the curry doesn't come with rice/naan, so need to make sure to order your add on!

Jose A.

Yelp
Just ordered through Uber eats and had a small mistake on my order but the staff was quick to fix the problem and took the matter professionally... Channa Masala was delicious!! Keep up the good customer service

Dave R.

Yelp
Solid meal, we both got chicken tikka masala. A little runny but decent flavor, More tomato-ish than I like. Rice was extra, so I thought it was a little spendy overall. Staff was very pleasant. No place to eat inside.

Shiho C.

Yelp
We ordered to pick-up. The place is about 10 minutes drive from our house. I ordered paneer Tikka Masala, and my husband ordered Chicken Tikka Masala. The order was prepared timely, and the food was still very hot when brought back home. An excellent thing for a takeout meal. It was delicious, comes with rice or naan bread. A great option for takeout or delivery!

Mobby K.

Yelp
My only regret is not trying sooner. In an area with solid Indian options this has been my favorite. Pepper chicken was the best remedy for my cold. Other places in the shopping center have closed and I hope this one stays. So good.

Lisa J.

Yelp
We drove from Eugene, Oregon to check this place out. It's super hard to find decent South Indian food and pretty much impossible to find a place that serves Kerala food in Oregon. We were not disappointed. My husband had the Masala Dosa and I had the Kadala curry that came with 3 palappams. We ordered another order of palappam to finish up the Kadala curry. The food was fresh and flavorful and totally reminded us of Kerala home-cooking. We loved it and will be back for more!

Rudrajit D.

Yelp
Somewhere between three and four stars. This is a takeout only joint in the Bethany Village strip mall complex. On average, it's better food that most Indian restaurants. Not all their curries have a creamy texture or are orange in color. They each have their distinctive taste and flavor. But the tastes have not been consistent across several orders, egg roast being one example of varying quality. Of the items I've sampled, Kerala fish fry and fish curry both stand out. As does the pepper chicken. Their selection of Indian breads are quite interesting. The Kerala paratha and palappam both are very, very good. The former is best had fresh and hot, tends to become slightly rubbery when cold. The biryani is unfortunately not quite upto the mark.

Mutiso F.

Yelp
These dudes got the flavor on HIT. This lil place is churning out absolutely delicious offerings that's guaranteed fresh, not sitting under a heat lamp. The serving size is a lil small for the price but it's all about quality over quantity here. Definitely a return visit coming!

Avinash A.

Yelp
Food is really good. Palak Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala are family favorites.

Vidya R.

Yelp
Another Indian restaurant in the area! the restaurant is owned by the same couple who owns tandoor in downtown Portland. Lovely people! I knew the food ought to be good the moment I saw them. Pros: Good Kerala/South Indian good Not very oily food Not heavy on cream Cons: No place to sit and eat. It's a Togo(dabba) restaurant. Personal favorite: Kerala fish fry (bring on the curry leaves!! ) Parota and kadala curry

Thomas D.

Yelp
My wife is out of town for five days and she is not a big fan of Indian food. So I thought I'd try a new (not true, it had ben there for a year) place Well, the absolutely best Chicken Tiki Masala I have ever had. Another example of a business adapting to changing times without reducing quality.

Valerie S.

Yelp
Dear Dabba, I love your food! Everything I have ordered is fresh and delicious! However, for the price - I spent $21 on one order of saag and one order of pepper chicken - I think rice should be included. Even rice for one person would be better than none. Thank you. A loyal customer

Jerome L.

Yelp
Came from out of town to visit some friends. My wife loves matar paneer so naturally we had to give that a shot. I had chicken korma, and it was delicious. So many slices and creamy with large, plentiful chunks of chicken. My wife has had better MP but we liked it overall. Fast, contactless pickup via Grubhub.

Manish B.

Yelp
Dabba is authentic Indian cuisine and cheap and best ! Recommend this spot ! I tried butter chicken and yellow daal. Both were very nice. You can try butter chicken with garlic naan was a wonderful combo.

Sandy L.

Yelp
I can't say enough about how delicious the food is and how wonderful the service is! These guys know how to make my favorite northern Indian dishes. Bravo again!

Mischa H.

Yelp
The samosas were overly salty on the outside but our aloo naan, chicken curry, and vegetable korma were all tasty. Beware of the mint chutney, it is a lot more spicy than the average mint chutney I've eaten in the US and Europe. The chicken in the curry was very well cooked and moist. The veggies in the korma were plentiful and had a good variation. We'll be eating there again.

Dan M.

Yelp
Food is outstanding. I've had vindaloo, butter chicken, and Chenmai chicken, various naans, and samosas. All of it has been really good. If you want something savory and not spicy the Chenmai. The vindaloo my favorite but it is pretty spicy. Reasonable prices, authentic flavor, and nice folks. It is one of our top take-out places in Bethany.

Amanda S.

Yelp
Don't order from here. Go to Maharaja, curry and crust or welcome India food. These guys SUCK.

Emily G.

Yelp
Dude, you gotta check this place out. I ordered from them on GrubHub. My boys had the Chicken Tikka Masala, kinda basic but still a solid Indian staple. I got 2 appetizers, the Gobi Manchurian (a fucking delicious cauliflower thing with more veggies and some kinda glorious red sauce) and the Samosa Channa Chat (which is like a deconstructed Samosa, but like, 1,000 more dope) Super dank food. Little bit pricey, but worth it. Plz excuse me while I go lick my plate.

Sandy L.

Yelp
I have been to this restaurant 4 times in 3 weeks! I LOVE their Chicken Korma! The sauce is very creamy and the chicken is so tender and moist. The first time I went was on a Friday night and it took nearly 45 minutes to get my food because they were so busy but the wait was worth it. They have more southern dishes than northern, (I prefer northern), but what I've had has been very, very good. Their mint chutney is very good as well as is their Basmati rice. I tried the chicken biryani which was very tasty, the chicken pieces were very tender, and the dish was not greasy at all as some biryani can be. My only wish is that they also make naan as I bet it would be amazing!

Rishabh J.

Yelp
Ordered vegetarian food from this place to go. Came home, opened the box and found chicken pieces in the food. We are strict vegetarians and this place completely ruined our mood. Will never ever return back here.

Sowmya U.

Yelp
We ordered a couple of curries and indo Chinese fried rice from dabba kitchen. The curries tasted bland and was watery with no flavor. Veg fried rice had no veggies but rice and oil. I would never order from this place again, there are other good Indian places around the neighborhood.

Jeremy G.

Yelp
First time trying this place. I got chicken tikka masala, samosas, garlic naan, and basmati rice. Some reviews said they messed up people's orders, but they were very careful to make sure I got what I ordered. The samosas and garlic naan were great. The chutneys that came with the samosas were ok, they could refine their recipe a bit. The chicken tikka masala was very tasty, but at $13 for an order, it really should come with rice included. They make you order it separately. That's why I'm taking two stars off. Otherwise a great little takeout spot.

Ash R.

Yelp
I'd like to give 4 and a half stars for these guys. Totally legit cooking. Tasty, quick, accurate. What more can you ask for from a new restaurant? Added breads recently which I was hoping they would do but I think they have a ways to go on making the bread near the quality of their curries

Sanket H.

Yelp
Worst service in the neighborhood and the food isn't good either!! First, they called me up & cancelled the order siting some lame reason and later called me back an hour later saying the order is ready! They even denied having called me to cancel my order. Worst... I am charged $52 for the food that I will never receive! I have to now deal with calling them multiple times to receive a refund phew.

Marc F.

Yelp
Glad we have a local Indian take out place in the neighborhood and the taste did not disappoint. Entrees are pretty large (16 oz of entree with a 12 oz serving of Basmati rice). We had enough leftovers from dinner to eat for lunch the next day. We ordered samosas, saag paneer and chicken butter masala. Samosas were nice and crispy on the outside and yummy on the inside. We only had 2 in the order so we polished those off at dinner. Saag Paneer was decent. I'm not quite sure what I didn't like about it, but we still ate the whole thing. Maybe the spices were off slightly or the type of spinach they used wasn't to my liking. The chicken butter masala was by far the homerun of the group . . . it was nice and buttery with the appropriate amount of heat behind it for our palettes (we ordered it medium spicy). Also, a healthy amount of chicken that were a bit larger than bite-sized so I definitely liked that. The kitchen is still new, but seems like the guys cooking in the back have done this thing before. I think maybe they need to organize a little better in the front, but that isn't going to stop me from going back again.
