"Anacortes restaurant Dad’s Diner a Go Go — whose buttermilk pancakes are the best in the state, Governor Jay Inslee once proclaimed — closed its Eastlake location earlier this month. The restaurant had only been in business since September, when it opened in the former home of Babirusa. In addition to flapjacks, the vintage-style diner specialized in dishes like biscuits and gravy and fried egg sandwiches." - Megan Hill

Google
Great place to have breakfast and lunch, we have enjoyed their plates twice during breakfast and another day on lunch. Their pork belly is divine! Very friendly staff and atmopshere.

Google
Great experience overall. Came in late off the ferry and Greg made us feel welcome from the minute we walked through the door. He gets an A+ in hospitality. The food was great. They definitely have a fun twist on everything.

Google
love the atmosphere, great service, and delicious food! we came out of our way to stop here for breakfast because of the reviews and it did not disappoint! will be recommending to everyone!

Google
We stopped by here after hanging out at Bowman Bay. We had the world's best breakfast. One week later we drove an hour and 20 to get more breakfast. I can't even begin to explain how epic the potatoes are. I almost cried when I tried the French toast! I've been chasing that flavor my whole life....just like my grandpa's French toast. I can't explain the difference or else I would have made it myself. I didn't know Anacortes would become my new favorite town to explore.

Google
we have been here 2 times but I was literally blown away by the new everything avocado toast 2.0. It was so delicious and the egg pairing was the perfect addition. Also I order a small pancake side! HAHAH it’s huge I spilt it with everyone. My partner also ordered the red neck Benedict and loved it too! So glad we came here and will definitely be coming back ✨

Google
This is a MUST visit every time I am in the area. The food is always made fresh and amazing. The ingredients are local. The service is also great. Everyone who works there is very friendly.

Google
Such a cute space for a diner. Unpretentious and super friendly staff. I'd give them 10 stars for service. My breakfast came with delicious fried potatoes, cooked perfectly fried on the outside. Simple easy eggs. Breakfast sausage came out to be a patty which was not a bad thing. Toast was nothing special. Service on the other hand was exceptional. Servers came by to check on me a few times and made sure my food was good and water was filled up.

Google
Love the place and food. Service was friendly but slow. Maybe that's the pace in Anacortes, though. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Yelp
Had an eye on this place even before we arrived to town for the weekend. And oh man oh man! We will definitely be back again. Service was amazing and food came out in a timely manner and warm. It's located in downtown in a great spot with plenty of street parking. If you notice a line, scan the QR code on the outdoor sign to place yourself on the waitlist. You'll be notified through text. I spotted the rice bowl and couldn't choose between the pork belly or the spare ribs so I asked the waitress and she definitely recommended the spare ribs. The spare rib rice bowl did not disappoint! It was well seasoned, tender, aioli added such a nice touch. The broccolini was cooked very well. Next visit, I'll ask for more aioli to dip the ribs in. So good! My bf got the Oklahoma fried onion burger. It looked so good with the ooey gooey cheese. The onions were cut quite thick but overall good flavor. Opted in for the large jojos which needed some more seasoning to add flavor, or at least salt. The spicy aioli would have gone well with it.

Yelp
We ate here twice. Once for dinner and then breakfast. Had the Hash with sausage, biscuits and a pancrepe for breakfast and a smash burger and Old Fashion for dinner. The food was tasty and delicious. The inside is a old style diner motif with a very classic feel. We were waited on diligently and with a very welcoming attitude. Great place to eat for anytime of the day.

Yelp
Chilaquiles: 11/10 Breakfast tacos: 11/10 Service: 11/10 This is the wise stop in Anacortes for breakfast, for sure.

Jim S.

Yelp
Great staff, delicious food. Friendly and welcoming. I've only been for breakfast. Portions are bigger than I need.

Nichole B.

Yelp
Love the casual atmosphere and seeing all the locals enjoying themselves. The inside space is decor with framed photos of dad's, the waiter said most of the photos are of local dad's. Such a fun place. Drinks and food were delicious and staff were super friendly. We will be back again

Amanda L.

Yelp
Whew, the burgers here are SO good. It took us a few minutes to get seated but I'm so glad we stayed. Place is small but cute and cozy. My kids loved their burgers and fries as well. Food was hot, fresh, and quality

Jac M.

Yelp
Small place. Solid breakfast. Worth the wait, in my opinion. I had the everything avocado toast 2.0 and my daughter had a pancrape thing with some wonderful jam/jelly. We shared and it was the perfect amount of food. My parents ordered lunch items. We were all very satisfied with our meals. The shoestring fries were the only disappointment. I will be back.

Gerry L.

Yelp
Really good diner food and super friendly service. Great atmosphere, had a piano player, playing some light piano music. Really enjoyed eating here. My wife and I both got sandwiches. Very tasty and well prepared. Our server was one of the most friendly servers I've ever had at a restaurant. Will definitely be back next time in town.

Karol B.

Yelp
Always a great experience, my husband & I use to go all the time ! Great food, 4 sure! Cool place, always met a new Friend there!!!! I need to put a pic of my dad & my husband & our kids up on the wall!

Jen L.

Yelp
Terrific pulled pork tacos and Burt Ends Melt. Huge portions. Attentive service. Loved the globe collection. Next time breakfast food!

Robert M.

Yelp
I made a trip from Oak Harbor to Anacortes specifically to eat at Dad's Diner because I mentioned going to Anacortes to get some lunch somewhere and the person I was talking with enthusiastically suggested I try Dad's. So, I decided to give it a try and was very happy I did so. There is a real diner feel to the atmosphere, complete with counter seating and chalkboard menu. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The pulled pork sandwich was suggested during the conversation about going to Dad's, but after reading the menu I decided on the Cuban sandwich because I really like those sandwiches. This Cuban was a little different because the meat was chopped and mixed with a tasty sauce. I still thought it was very good and didn't have any issues with it. The sandwich included jo-jos (some call the potato logs) that were coated in a rub. I thought they were cooked to perfection and tasted great. I am a fan of spicy food and couldn't resist trying the house hot sauce that they call "Badassco Hot Sauce". I asked the server about the sauce and was told there are two versions. One is hotter than the other. I tried the hottest version that included Scorpion peppers in the ingredients. It was very spicy indeed!!

Yelp
Start with reviews read prior. All over the place but said we'd give it a shot. The food was good, plentiful but quite expensive for basic breakfast. My biggest gripe was service. Couple after us finished their food when we received ours and a phone order interrupted our order. Not the best experience.

Sarah J.

Yelp
We were hungry after a 4 hour whale watching tour and decided to give Dad's Diner a go. We were traveling from North Carolina so decided to try something local. I had a veggie burger and my boyfriend had a regular burger. Both were delicious. We were confused by what "JoJo's" were, but the waitress was super nice and explained it. The reason I'm giving a 4 star is because they were out of basically everything I wanted to try. I went with the veggie burger instead of just leaving and going to a different restaurant. I am glad I decided on the veggie burger, it was SO good! Despite being out of things, turned out to be a fantastic lunch! Super awesome employees, super cool inside. Loved all the pictures on the wall.

Yelp
We came here on a Monday around brunch time and it was packed! We had a short wait and then we were seated outside. We did have a quick peek inside and it has an old school dinner vibe. I can't remember exactly what our dishes were called but both were outstanding. The biscuits have a crunch and the gravy is very good. This might sound weird but their hash brown is to die for. Probably the best hash browns I've ever had.

Eric S.

Yelp
Great diner for breakfast. The biscuits and bacon (ordered extra crispy) are amazing. Quality of breakfast food is best in town. Service is usually really good but can be a hit or miss depending on the server. Very limited seating so best to avoid when too busy.

Sherry T.

Yelp
We stopped by at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon and were relieved to be seated right away. Dad's is a small diner, so timing is essential. Despite quick seating, service was slow. We waited over a half hour for a couple sandwiches with fries. As it turned out, the wait was worth it. Both the spicy brisket melt and the Reuben were out of this world delicious. The jojos were okay; the shoestring fries were better. Don't bother getting iced tea. It's that powder crap that tastes terrible. I'd like to come back for breakfast some time.

Natalie H.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot in Anacortes! Ordered family-style to try multiple things: biscuits and gravy, chilaquiles, and the Korean street toast. Everything was very flavorful, but I especially loved the chilaquiles and Korean toast! A fun diner atmosphere with tall walls and ceiling (forgot to take pics, oops!) It was busy on a Friday morning, so it must be a hot spot; I'd recommend planning ahead for potential wait time!

Patricia B.

Yelp
The place is on the smaller side so watch out for the lunch wave. I was a party of one but most tables were full so I sat at the window with 4 chairs. Felt a little guilty but that was their choice for me. Service was nice and everything was great. Water, coffee and then lunch. I've had smash burgers in Bellingham and this is the best for me. I'm glad I live in Anacortes but dogsit every other week so I'm in both places regularly.

Betsi L.

Yelp
We had a great breakfast! Friendly service. Maybe cut down on the pepper on the eggs a bit & have a paper menu for us old folks.

Jordan O.

Yelp
So amazing food. My son and I went. He had the French toast and I had the Korean egg sandwich. Amazing flavor. Highly recommended!

Lana M.

Yelp
Excellent food - homegrown beef - oh so tender! Loved the Reuben. Menu was great. Very friendly folk. Clean. We always go there when we're up that way.

Sha P.

Yelp
This place was an amazing stop on our way to Orcas Island. Amazing food and good vibes.

Matt R.

Yelp
Passing through Anacortes after a weekend in Friday Harbor. The reviews of Dad's Diner did not disappoint! I had the Pork Belly Hash and my lady had a pancake with a side of breakfast potatoes. The food was outstanding! I have to go back to try the different hashes. Lovely service & ambience too. A must try!

Briana J.

Yelp
The diner is perfect. Service was super friendly, accommodating and quick. The ambiance was relaxed and service oriented. The food was more delicious than I imagined. I had the biscuits and gravy with a really homemade biscuit and amazing savory sausage gravy!!

Angel O.

Yelp
A must if you are on Fidalgo Island! The food is amazing and not just average diner food. The owner was an amazing host and made us feel welcomed.

emily e.

Yelp
Really, really good burgers! I had the smash burger, which was like a tastier, fresher version of a Dick's Deluxe -- the patty was beefy with lacy edges, burger sauce tangy/creamy, crisp shredded lettuce, melty American and pickle relish on a toasted bun. It was perfection! Shoestring fries were hot and crisp. Our server was super nice and the food came out quickly. We'll be back!

Chere W.

Yelp
Great service. I had the chicken sandwich and the chicken was kind of rubbery, but the fries were great. The restrooms were out of order but the staff member told me I could use the restroom across the street at the visitor center. Mostly I was impressed with the great service I was only one waitress on the place was busy, but she was courteous and very efficient.

Robert M.

Yelp
Wonderful interior Good creative food Good prices Nice customers Great owner and staff This place is a jewel a must go-to place

Randall T.

Yelp
Love this place one of the best breakfast places in the area area. Most of their stuff is freshly made, and they're chorizo and brisket is super good. Anytime I'm in the area. I try to stop in and get a bite here. Great service and great food... Only hang up really hard to get a spot on a weekend. Plan on waiting a few if you want to eat here on a Saturday or Sunday.

Rado S.

Yelp
Great smelling food. Dont judge a book by its cover. Absolutey vulgar and tasteless customer service . Whomever the gentlemen was owner, management or what was short on the phone regarding take out and was unwilling to serve successful 15+ year vendors during the annual anacortes arts show. He presumed to leave me a voicemail calling me buddy and recommending that I (not he) take a customer service class. Appauling and certainly distastful.

Alexandra E.

Yelp
Tastiest breakfast I've had in a while! The Diner Dad served me up some chilaquiles with pork belly and a buttermilk pancrepe for the little one. Diner Dad called my daughter sweetheart, treated us like family and we really liked that. We had a fun round of eye spy with my little eye with all the globes on display. Felt like we were dining in an elevated Luke's Diner from Gilmore Girls on the opposite coast.

James L.

Yelp
Pleasantly blown away! Service, ambience, cleanliness, huge food choices and generous helping of food! Love it here and will be back. *sorry no photos because ate it all.

Dylan P.

Yelp
Great diner food & their ingredients are locally sourced. They even had tables outside the diner for a change of scenery & so that way you could bring your dog with you! The service was great, just a but slow that day. They were also out of a lot of items but over all their burger was phenomenal!

Beth M.

Yelp
Happened upon this place when we had a few hours before our ferry. What a happy accident. The coffee is hot and fresh, and the avocado toast is a meal in itself. We were lucky enough to sit at the bar and meet the owner, Fletcher. He's a gem of a guy, and I can't wait to go there the next time I'm in Anacortes. Take a later ferry and say hi to fletcher!

Chris M.

Yelp
Made it back for dine in service. Got a nice table up front by the window. Very busy, chaotic, as usual. Ordered the redneck benny with thick cut bacon and the french toast. You MUST order the french toast! Melts in your mouth. The biscuits and gravy on the redneck were wonderful.

Len D.

Yelp
Great personal service but hard to get into due to limited seating. Very personal service which was lovely. If full go to Calico Cupboard

Trevor T.

Yelp
Interesting system to get in line for a table, but we only waited about 20 mins at 9:45 on a Saturday. Service was friendly and quick despite being busy. The decor is interesting: lots of pictures of Dads, globes, and some odd lunch boxes. The food was better than we were expecting given pictures others had posted on Yelp and how things are described in the menu. The Korean Street Toast was great, highly recommended, but it's a sandwich so get ready for that. We also had the Hash with pork belly and it has more going on than the pictures and menu description might indicate--excellent flavors from the onion and mushrooms with some sauce that fit really well, and the texture of the pork belly complements it perfectly. I had the wheat toast to go with, and was surprised at how good their raspberry jam is. Highly recommend Dad's Diner for breakfast, and will likely try it for lunch another time. Edit: forgot to mention that their in-house hot sauce is really good, not overly spicy but great flavor.

Shannon DeJean R.

Yelp
Wonderful breakfast! I absolutely loved the "pancrepe"! A thin and creamy delight! Dad's puts a unique deliciousness on their food!

Joe H.

Yelp
They don't have a large selection. But they are good at what they do. Portraits of people's dads on the walls of the restaurant. Really cool, seeing all the history on the walls. The also have a lot of globes spread out through the diner. Customer service is so friendly. We went here the weekend of Oyster Run early in the morning so I think we just beat the rush. I don't know what it would be like on a crazy day but it was relatively busy and it was getting busier as we were leaving.

Manny Z.

Yelp
horrible service. they refuse to provide you with a menu for sit down service, insist you scan a QR code. go to Gere-a-deli's down the street for great food & decent service

Brian F.

Yelp
Dad's Diner is a small homey spot full of locals who know each other by name. We wanted to spend some in the Anacortes area, and my friend and fellow Elite Erin H. recommended this place many times so we went to check it out. We came here on a Saturday morning at around 9:15am and waited about 15 minutes for a party of two. They do not allow reservations and are first come first serve. There is two hour street parking in the surrounding area. It's a small place with some booth seating and some tables. What they lack in the space they make up for it in the sheer amount of globes everywhere! I don't know the significance of all the globes but it's cool to see them all over the place. I ordered the hash ($16) with brisket ($4) and my girlfriend ordered the pork belly biscuits and gravy ($16) which was a limited special. For the hash, the potatoes were really crispy and I liked the horseradish sauce on it although I wish there was a bit more of it drizzled on top. The brisket was good and fatty and they definitely don't skimp on it. I saw many people raving about their biscuits and I see why because it was really buttery and didn't even need the jam that came with it. The hash is a bit simple though as it's just potatoes, meat, and grilled onions and I expected more than that. For the pork belly biscuits and gravy, it was a nice balance of saltiness from the gravy and sweetness from the syrup. I'm not a big fan of sweet breakfasts so I could've done without the latter but I really enjoyed the gravy. Overall it's a good breakfast/lunch spot in the Anacortes area. They are only open on select days and have limited hours so I'd recommend coming early or calling in for your order.

Anne C.

Yelp
Our party of four really enjoyed our brunch. We had pint sized mimosas. But wait there's more! I had the chorizo grits and I'm still thinking about it. Everyone loved their food and even though it was super busy (for a reason!!), the service was still great. We will be back!

Gina S.

Yelp
First time timer this past weekend, and I can honestly say it was the best brunch I've had. I really liked the "dad's plate" I think that's what it's called. I recommend you go there early, maybe 30mins before it opens. It gets busy around 11am or even around 10am. The servers were great, very friendly and accommodating!

Nicole B.

Yelp
I have never had a bad meal at dads. Breakfast , lunch , both amazing. Food is great and servers are friendly

Keith B.

Yelp
Breakfast food was great. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, the service was friendly, jam was homemade (awesome), and the country gravy was hearty. Great vibe for a little diner with a wall of veterans that seemed perfect.

Joanna G.

Yelp
The place was okay.. busy. Customer service was decent and their coffee tasted pretty good. I drink mine black so you really can taste it. The bathroom wasn't very clean. I give three stars bc the French toast wasn't very flavorful.

Mark E.

Yelp
TLDR: great food, great diner vibes, great service. Can get packed quickly on a weekend morning. Went into Dads diner on a Sunday morning and were a group of 3 that was quickly seated at the bar. The Hash: I ordered it with brisket, scrambled eggs, and a biscuit. I think the hash and brisket overall for me is as a little under seasoned but with some of their homemade hot sauce, it added a lot of great flavor. The eggs were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned. The biscuit was crispy on the outside and more thick and doughy on the inside. It had less of a buttery flavor overall, but for good reason. The reason why I say that is the raspberry jam practically turned the biscuit into a great mini dessert with breakfast. It made it taste almost like a nice thick raspberry donut. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the meal. Overall I was very happy with my experience and would do it again. Even if I had to wait to be seated at the bar or a table. I would certainly come back again!

June C.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot!! Loved all the dad ice and the service was excellent. Ordered one of the hash dishes and all look so yummy! We will be back!

James C.

Yelp
Incredible burger. Beer/wine/spirits selections need work. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. Ambiance is Anacortes local forward
