16 Best Things to Do in Savannah, from Museums to Food Trucks

"Daffin Park is perfect for a traveler who is looking to spend time outdoors in a less crowded area than downtown and with plenty of shade. The 80-acre recreational park on the east side of Savannah has plenty to do, from the rubberized trail (perfect for runners) that outlines the perimeter, to the multiple courts for basketball, tennis, and volleyball. During fall and spring, local sports teams use the fields for football and soccer; and there’s plenty of giant oak trees offering shade for picnics. Daffin is also home to Grayson Stadium, home of the city’s minor league baseball team, Savannah Sand Gnats, for those looking to catch a game." - Ariel Felton, Sam Worley

Daffin Park

"Let’s start big picture. What’s the vibe here?Daffin Park is an 80-acre recreational park on the east side of Savannah with plenty to do. Athletic park goers will enjoy the rubberized trail (perfect for runners) that outlines the perimeter, as well as the park’s multiple courts for basketball, tennis, and volleyball. During fall and spring, local sports teams use the fields for football and soccer; and there’s plenty of giant oak trees offering quiet shade for picnics. Daffin is also home to Grayson Stadium, home of the city’s minor league baseball team, Savannah Sand Gnats. Any standout features or must-sees?A second, shorter trail winds around Daffin Lake, which features a fountain, park benches, and a few turtles. Was it easy to get around? If you decide to drive there, exiting the park might feel a bit like navigating a maze - be sure to pay attention to directional arrows as some roads out to Victory Drive are entrance-only. That sounds cool. All said and done, what—and who—is this best for?Daffin Park is perfect for a traveler who is looking to spend time outdoors in a less crowded area than downtown that has plenty of shade." - Ariel Felton

If you are ever traveling to Florida this is a must see! This park jumps right out of a painting! The surrounding area is also beautiful! There is also some local artists selling all kinds of paintings and jewelry.

Google
This is a real gem This park is in a really busy section of Savannah that I'm so surprised at how beautiful it is Just got tennis courts it's got a running sidewalk all the way around the perimeter it's got a beautiful green grass area it's just got so much Has a water fountain This is my first time here and I really like it I'll be spending a little more time here when I need a place to just hang out and maybe run a loop or two or let the dogs out for exercise

I traveled from Fl for a Tree Climbing competition at Daffin park. This park has the most gorgeous and amazing trees. Plenty of parking and areas to walk your dog or play with family. Kids park, tennis courts, bathrooms, walking trails and fields galore. I frequently go to parks and this one by far exceeded my expectations and was a Pleasure to experience! A Must see

The dog park portion is wide and open for the pups but the only issue is have is it needs a restroom for the dog parents other than that my pup enjoys this place

Yelp
This is a great place to take a walk or to walk your dogs. There are not that many dog friendly parks in the area so this one is a jewel. It's got a fountain you can walk around. You can make a big loop and walk along Victory. There are tennis courts, a playground and a swimming pool but I haven't used either. There is plenty of free parking. The park is pretty well maintained. But no one seem to pick up their dogs poo.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure Daffin Park (DP) is the largest recreational park in Savannah. Located in the Historic District, the park is huge, at about 80 acres. It's home to the Grayson Stadium, where the Savannah Bananas (baseball team) play. There are multiple types of fields suitable for sports like soccer, football or really any sport that requires lots of space to play. There is a playground, dog park and a large pond with walking trails. DP is also a great location for big outdoor events. We've been to Earth Day Savannah, an event that is held there every year. We've also been to the Savannah Food Truck Festival at DP, which are always fun. The park allows for people to spread out and claim their own space without feeling squished together. We've also been to military ceremonies located in the park as well. Our kids love to play at the playground and there are mature trees all over the entire park that provide lots of much appreciated shade on those hot Southern summer days! Lots of parking can be found all throughout. Obviously, it gets more tricky for large events. DP is not as well manicured like Forsyth Park, but it's still a great place to hang out, enjoy the outdoors, play, walk or even to get some food and have a picnic! If you prefer more space and less people, go to DP! Stay safe, Friends!

Yelp
Not the prettiest of parks but highly functional. It hosts the baseball stadium, numerous tennis courts, and a nice running loop with padding. There is also a sand volleyball court with a two playgrounds on Waters. A dog park is on the other end of the park. These park often hosts events in the summer.

Yelp
I love that I got to walk this park while waiting on my laundry at spin city to complete the cycle. Such a nice park to walk! And big enough that you won't be able to finish it in the 30 minutes that is needed for the cycle to complete. Highly recommend!

Yelp
It's big! If you're looking to walk in the sunshine or group activities, this is the spot in Savannah. It now has a soft running/walk path, two dog parks (small, large breeds), the Savannah bananas stadium etc.

Yelp
Daffin Park was the setting for the third installment of the Savannah Food Truck Festival. Each year this festival improves, and this year was no exception. There was plenty of variety and more food trucks on-site than the years before. From BBQ, Cuban, Jamaican, and American, a wide selection of cuisine was available for sampling and consumption. There were also plenty of activities for the children and pets, and the weather was ideal. Musical entertainment was provided during the event, and even ATM machines were available if you ran out of currency. Overall, a great time was provided and I look forward to next year's event.

Yelp
Quite, small park with a play area for the little ones ,Also has clean bathrooms, and Paved w/cement walking trail I'm guessing about a mile that surrounds the open field used for soccer ,but seldom see anybody using it

Yelp
I have driven by this park more times than I have ever stopped to visit and enjoy the outdoors. I came here for a Food Truck Festival and for two Savannah Clover games. Both times it was a lovely day in Savannah, which is more often than not the case here. I'd love to go for a run at this park one day, maybe when my boys are getting a pampering session nearby. I love Forsyth park, but it is nice to get away from the tourist crowd sometimes and come here. One day I'll make it out here to a Savannah Bananas game, I promise!

Yelp
Very nice campsite we venture out to all campsites in the area- this is one of my favorites. As you know there comes a time when laundry needs to get done- I recommend Savannah Coin Laundry on White Bluff. It's convenient, clean and safe.

Yelp
Did you know that Daffin Park has a pool? Did you know that you can purchase swim lessons for your child for 2 weeks at a cost of $25? My little girl is taking the lessons and I am impressed! Instructors for each child, the pool is very clean and the instruction is planned out well. Not only is Daffin Park a beautiful park but you have some young professionals at the pool ready to teach your child a life saving skill and they do it well. Well done City of Savannah and Staff of Daffin Park.

Yelp
I love coming to Daffin Park to run. There is a mile and a half track around the park with mile markers and plenty of trees to keep you in the shade. The park also features a playground, picnic benches, intramural fields, and tennis/basketball courts. There's even a small dog park for your doggie friends! Grayson Stadium is also located within the park, where you can catch a Savannah Banana's game during baseball season. While I wouldn't hang out in the park after dark, I feel comfortable enjoying sports, running, and relaxing in Daffin during the day.

Yelp
I love everything this park has to offer, as do my Dashchunds. The track around the perimeter is even better now that it is not all concrete, making it a bit easier on the knees. There is a lot to do, whether it be exercise, dog activities, youth sports, or just relaxing.

Yelp
I like daffin park for walks with the kids and friends. When everyone is tired of doing laps we can set them free in the playground. I prefer the fenced play area because there is only one entrance and no one can escape. The pond is nice even though the water is a weird blue color. I saw a guy catch a pretty big cat fish the other day. If I liked dogs and had one of my own I am sure the dog park would be great. But I don't think I'll ever know. The swimming pool is kinda creepy but also weirdly cool. Pool hours and entrance are a mystery. Finally, I can't wait to attend a bananas game! Rip sand gnats.

Yelp
Great park right off Waters and EVictory Dr. It has basketball and tennis court area. A 1.5mile track around the park for the fitness guru. Nice picnic area and a huge soccer field or two w/ blenchers to catch a good game or two. The park also offer a childs play area and the big bonus is it's basically connected to Grayson's Stadium home of the Savannah Sand Gnats. And if u luck out on a Saturday during the season you can catch a fireworks show. One of my favorite parks to be at peace in =)

Yelp
This park is great. There's stone picnic tables for BBQs on nice weather days, and an awesome dog park with a small dog and large dog section. The dog park has some seats for owners as well as fountain and baths for your furkids. It gets a bit dirty because of the grass/mud/water fountain combo, but I love the trees in the park itself. There's parking aplenty if you avoid gametime at the stadium next door.

Yelp
If you're going to the dog park (which I highly recommend) take a right on bee road when heading east on victory drive. There's a parking lot right there to the entrance if the dog park--which can be hard to find. With lots of shady areas, water, trees-- it's a great dog park. And it's free! :-)

Yelp
Daffin is great , plenty of room to sneak off and do your own thing . Walking path with distances marked , easy parking , clean and well maintained
