Daffin's Chocolate Kingdom – Sharon, Pennsylvania - Gastro Obscura

"In the 1940s, Mr. Pete Daffin and his wife Jean created “the world’s largest candy store.” In the 1960s they moved to this building, keeping a factory that still offers tours in nearby Farrell. In 1970, Pete realized his vision of a Wonka-esque wonderland, which he called “Daffin’s Chocolate Kingdom.” Over the years, the cast of mammoth chocolate characters and creatures have changed. Recently, this surreal attraction welcomed a 125-pound turtle and a 75lb bunny made of solid milk chocolate. Daffin’s operates year around and supplies nearby towns with rich milk chocolate. Candy bars are still reasonably priced and come in a variety of flavors. There’s also a candy counter where you can mix chocolates and truffles, or scooping your own candy by the pound. Know Before You Go Daffins operates from 10AM-6PM Monday thru Saturday. Sunday's hours are 11AM-5PM." - indianaunderwood

Darin’s Candies in Sharon, PA is my place to get premium chocolates & candies. I can’t even begin to explain how amazing their confectionery treats are, pure ecstasy in every bite. The selection of chocolate treats is massive, you want it, I’m sure they have it. They also have dark chocolate & non sweet (diabetic) chocolates & candy as well. They sell cards & other gifts too, so make sure you look around when you are there. They have awesome displays of chocolate sculptures you must check out AND….. the chocolate kingdom in the back. The Kingdom is all chocolate sculptures made with pure chocolate. You must see it when you are there, no excuses. They gave a big, well lite parking lot, parking won’t be an issue. If you have any questions or are looking for something particular, the friendly Staff will be more than happy to help you. I love this place, I know you will too.

I love bringing the family here during the Christmas season. It's an old-fashioned candy store with some of the best homemade chocolates and fudge. Prices are a little high, but I think it's worth the price. The fudge is about $10 per pound, and other high-quality chocolates are about $18 per pound.

Google
Something has changed in their chocolate, I heard there is a new person overseeing the production so maybe that is what went wrong? I used to get chocolate from here for years and I can say it was probably the best I have had. The peanut clusters were especially amazing, but now they just kind of suck, super flat with hardly any peanuts, look lazily made. I hope they sort out whatever is wrong because I miss how good they used to be...

Google
This was an amazing experience for me. Was a very nice layout of the candy. They not only had bins of loose candy but shelves were full of all types of Easter Candy. Off to one side was home made candy made of white, milk and dark chocolate. I must say it was very delicious. They had a display in the center of the store of a tree made out of chocolate it was awesome same with the one in the back of the store which had elephants and like a little village with a train, merry-go-round,castles, and a Ferris wheel almost every thing was carved out of chocolate. Well it's now the Christmas display and again they didn't disappoint me. It was a wonderful winter scene in the back with a very active scene around the tree in the center of the store. Not only do they have loose candy but a lot of the old time candy along with a place where you can get from small boxes of different types of chocolate truffles to large quantities. You won't be disappointed when you go there.

Another must stop in Pennsylvania. First time I've been to the store. Always get them as a gift. Their store is awesome. Bought the pretzels, peanut butter cups, and peppermint patties. Some of the best chocolate there is.

Google
The food is chocolate! There's taffy and other novelty candy for purchase. Candy deli with fresh fudge. They have a lot of sugar free options and a lot of gift boxes already made up. They have their chocolate village displays one in middle of the store another in the back of the store. There's a lot of cute gifts from coffee cups to tshirts.

Every time we come home, a Daffin’s stop is a must. There were no fresh chocolate covered Oreos behind the counter today, but the packaged ones did not disappoint. If you’ve never been here, you’re missing out on a little piece of Heaven here on Earth. Added bonus: they offer a military discount. 👏🏾

Google
I have a relative that's from this area originally and they rave about this chocolate. They buy it every year and give it out as Christmas gifts. Honestly I could care less about where my chocolate is from. I like all chocolate but I have to admit this stuff is really really really good and the chocolate with pretzel. Man it's good

Yelp
Best chocolate. It is very smooth and creamery. They have a huge variety of sweets + Hallmark store. They have chocolate kingdom which is decorated and beautiful year round.

Jack M.

Yelp
The chocolate is delicious. Assortment box is amazing. Something in here for everyone We order fruit and nut stuffed Easter eggs every year. The staff is very friendly and very helpful filling our orders

Yelp
If you are a candy lover then you have come to the right place. They have a beautiful assortment of chocolates at competitive prices. The staff is friendly. Your kids will be on a sugar high just walking around this store. They have a giant chocolate display based on the time of the year. Truly enjoyed being here, it might be my new "happy place".

Yelp
Friendly staff and a big variety to choose from. The service was very helpful and this place is well kept.

Yelp
Every time I come home I stop in while I was home last July and bought three PODS of chocolate to bring to Florida no doubt it didn't last long I love the chocolate my daughter brought me a pound of chocolate down just a couple days ago and it was melted into a great big block so I stuck my finger in it and it was just as good soft as it was hard I'll put it in the freezer and then broke it up I love your chocolate

Yelp
thankfully stopping here only added about 20 minutes to my trip between MI and PA. anyone who sets this as the sole destination from a distance is going to be very very disappointed. i was VERY let down upon entering as this was a lifetime bucket list thing for me when i got to the area. it's nowhere near the largest in the world and your local supermarket probably had more candy than here. the picture of all the loose candy on the wall in baskets is very accurate. however, only half the store is candy and 90 percent of the center aisles was EMPTY! crazy! a few jellies here and there and other shapes of chocolate like frogs but nothing like candy cigs, hard candy etc etc. the chocolate in the display cases was very wide in assortment so if you are looking for that you may be satisfied. but otherwise row after row of empty shelves and finding out the other half of the store was a gift shop, NOT candy. was very very disappointing. thankfully i live 30 minutes from a very large candy store that truly has a selection in myerstown PA. i did not look at the gift area of the store but it does look very full so if you want gifts id say this is the place

Yelp
What an amazing road trip stop this was. We were driving cross country and wanted to see an old fashioned candy company. The selection was amazing, but the service was the best part. We chatted with one of the people behind the chocolate counters for some time and she was so helpful and welcoming. We will certainly make this a mainstay for our cross country trips.

Yelp
This is probably one of the biggest candy stores you'll ever step foot in. The selection of chocolates and "penny" candies is slightly overwhelming, you'll want it all! My favorites are the $1 candy bars, crisp rice and caramel filled ones are my favorites. The chocolate melt aways that are available in the case are amazing, it's pricey but worth it!

Yelp
This is a cool place to pop into for a few minutes if you are in the area. It's definitely not the "World's Largest Candy Store", especially compared to Hershey's. In fact I would guess only half the store even has candy. Meanwhile, the other half is like a gift store. Regardless, it is a has a lot of options for gift giving. Their chocolate bars and chocolate pieces are very good. The prices are reasonable for these items as well. The other candy they sell is a bit expensive. For instance, a Hershey bar is roughly $2. I thought they would have a lot more nostalgic candy than they did have and just more candy in general. Even so, I bet the kids love it and I'd likely stop by again when in the vicinity.

Yelp
Sent a box of chocolates to Reno Nevada to my daughter. It was a request of hers to receive her favorites from Daffins. Received with delight. Warmed her mother's heart. Thank you. Absolutely best chocolates.

Yelp
We made a quick stop here after visiting Kraynaks. Who doesn't love a candy shop!! It was close to closing time so they were not busy which was nice. They had a huge chocolate display and gave us a free sample, it was really good. They had a 'deli' of chocolates you could choose from so I let my son choose some for a box for himself. The employee that waited on us behind the counter was not that enthused, which is why I'm only giving 4 stars. She stated to her coworker they only had 10 more minutes. I felt like I was bothersome for asking about the different kind of chocolates. Whatever though, the chocolate was really good. I get it wanting to get out of work on time. Maybe she just had a long day. The cashier was real nice. If your in the area, definitely a place to check out for your sweet tooth.

Amy H.

Yelp
They have the best chocolates! If you are indecisive you can get candy bars for $1 to try the different flavors. They have loose candies as well! Best chocolates in town!

Yelp
Very nice store with endless options. Me and my girlfriend bought a wide variety of chocolate types. Very delicious and would highly recommend

Yelp
Caught this store by chance when driving around Sharon in March. It was a few weeks before Easter. They were ready. Daffin's is a LARGE chocolate store that goes beyond your typical chocolate bunny. I found all sorts of chocolates, including kitty cats, puppies, ducks and trains in various sizes and flavors, including white and peanut butter. The prices were all quite reasonable. The quality was perfect. They had samples in the back, which had a chocolate Easter village complete with solid chocolate animals that weigh hundreds of pounds. Kids could get photos in the village for free. If you are anywhere near Sharon, you really ought to stop off at Daffin's. It was one of the highlights of my recent trip to the Youngstown area.
google avatar

Danielle G.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here for years. The chocolate display never disappoints. Their peanut butter filled eggs are to die for! A great place for the Easter bunny!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
I've been away from my hometown for over a decade, but I had the chance to be there for Easter this year, so I was excited to load up on chocolate on the day after Easter. I grabbed my fill of chocolate eggs and have been someone them out to friends and family members since then. The chocolate brings back so many memories of past Easter's. Thank you for the nostalgia trip, Daffins! I hope I can continue to come back home from time to time to indulge in your products.

Yelp
I grew up in Sharon and I truly believe that they have the best chocolate in the country. Go in the back of the store and see the chocolate kingdom and get your free sample. Daffin's is a must stop when visiting the Shenango Valley.
google avatar

Binion S.

Yelp
You gotta love a place where they have chocolate turtles. Yes, they have delicious caramel, nuts, and chocolate turtles but they also have larger than life turtles molded from chocolate. They also have bunnies, a Ferris wheel, and more. They call it the Chocolate kingdom. We've been going here for years. We have always used this place as somewhere to have desert after eating chicken wings and Quaker Steak and Lube. The Chocolate Kingdom does have a strange smell that comes from old chocolate but it makes for a good photo-op. Daffins prices are fair not much ambiance but hey - its a candy store that been around for generations. Definitely worth a stop.

Yelp
There is no candy store like this anywhere, it's magical. The chocolate is magnificent. I lived in Sharon when I was a kid and I've been in Chicago/Northern Illinois for the last 30 years and I will mail order from Daffins for holidays. (Especially since Marshall Field's and the original Frango is gone.) There is nothing like their Easter selection. The variety of the the stuffed eggs is incomparable: peanut butter, nut, coconut, maple, rice, vanilla fudge nut, mint melt away...and they come in THREE different sizes. Did I mention they are solid? If they had an espresso one I would be in heaven.

Yelp
I have been coming to Daffin's Candies for years. The chocolate is great and the atmosphere is magical. My family loves the chocolate factory display.

Yelp
After hearing about the chocolate wonderland, I was really excited to visit. It was cool to see a 500 pound chocolate turtle, but I was a little disappointed. I expected the area to be a little larger. The store itself reminds me of a hallmark store with a candy shop on the side. Lots of cute but totally useless stuff. It's easy to spend more time than you were expecting at a place like this.

Heather L.

Yelp
We were heading from Massachusetts to Washington state and this was a nice place to stop & stretch our legs. When you first walk in, there are a TON of baskets full of "penny candy". Any type of wrapped candy that you can think of! Very cool. It's hard to not get lost in the sea of gift items - I was surprised at how big the place was and how much like a Hallmark store it would be. Some cute things, but, let's face it, we were there for the candy!!! The back room has the large chocolate sculptures - great for a photo opp. But, none of us could stand in the room for too long because the smell of chocolate was too overwhelming! We purchased a box of filled candies to drop-off when visiting family in St. Louis, a bag of the "rejects", a biscotti, and some dark chocolate bark. The only thing we were not crazy about was the biscotti - loads of choices that look amazing, but a little disappointing when we tried it. The bark was by far my favorite - way more creamy than a usual dark chocolate - divine!!!!

Yelp
Every time we go to Sharon, we stop at Daffins. Such a cool little chocolate shop. Love seeing the chocolate sculptures in the back. The prices seem to inflate every time I go but the chocolate is so smooth and fresh. Tons of other bulk candies as well. Take the kids, they will love it. Try a truffle, you will love it.
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Not only the largest chocolate store in the world but more importantly, they make the best chocolate! Once you eat their chocolate, you will never want any other. The chocolate covered strawberries are to die for. The owners are wonderful! They are wonderful to the community and to all their customers.
google avatar

Wayne S.

Yelp
Great candy store. Large selections of all types of chocolate, candies, and gifts. There is a chocolate village in the back with free samples. The chocolate is the best! would recommend anyone in the area to stop. Kids and adults love it!
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
This store is famous for its chocolate and it's chocolate sculpture's! One of the largest candy stores you will ever go to. It's not just for Easter. You will find well over 100 different types of candy here. Daffin's is a Piece of Sharon's history. I like their chocolate better than Fannie Mae's.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
What can I say, largest chocolate store in the world, chocolate kingdom and the best milk chocolate on the planet! I grew up on this stuff and love it. A bit pricey, but worth it! They also offer a 10% military discount, just ask for it before checking out.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
This is the best chocolate ever, grew up in Sharon, then moved to Pittsurgh and the past 28 years I've tried the "other guys" from Canonsburg and Daffins is hands down the BEST!!!
google avatar

Shawn K.

Yelp
Daffin's is great. If you are in the area, you have to check it out. They have the best chocolate, and there is a huge variety.
google avatar

Duane S.

Yelp
Daffin's is AWESOME!! I love their milk chocolate I get some every time I come to PA and have people bring it down to me when they come and visit. The Chocolate Kingdom is nice to visit since you get free chocolate. :-) I'm glad I don't get it all the time. My dentist would love me.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
If you are in the area this is a must stop. Awesome chocolate in the world. Local shop. Make all the chocolate locally. I always go here for Easter and various other holidays.

Natalee H.

Yelp
I grew up outside of Sharon, PA, but haven't lived around there for a long time. Their solid chocolate Easter bunny rabbit is the only one I would eat as a kid. I'm still not much of a chocolate person, but that all changes when it's Daffin's. My mom sends some of those glorious pecanettes periodically, and other goodies. She just visited me out here in SoCal, and I requested pecanettes, melt-aways and assorted dark and milk chocolate to satisfy those dark chocolate lovers. Let's just say that the word "decadent" was used to describe the pecanettes. Folks think it's better than See's and Godiva. And I happen to agree and think it may be the best in the country. I really don't each much chocolate other than Daffin's. One person immediately went to the web site and was surprised/pleased with the prices for such decadence. Daffin's, you might get some new online customers from Southern CA, but after the summer months due to shipping costs.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
I live in Southern California and purchase Daffins for friends, family, and myself everytime I go home to Warren. I like it even better than the coveted See's. There truly isn't a filling that isn't delicious, and although I prefer milk to dark chocolate, both are to die for from Daffins. The ladies in the retail store are always really nice (I go to the one at the Eastwood Mall). As for comments about the Chocolate Kingdom...I haven't been there in years, but seriously, is an adult taking time to complain on Yelp about a Chocolate Wonderland not meeting expectations? You go for the chocolate to eat. And it is the best!!!!!!! Five plus stars for my hometown favorite Daffins!!!!!!! Don't miss the plain old chocolate bars, meltaways of any flavor, the mocha cream centers, and chocolate oreos...but everything is pheneomenal!

Mac M.

Yelp
We've been going to Daffins for many years. They definitely have some of the best chocolate I've ever had, and the store is great, especially around the holidays. Everyone in the area has their preference between Daffins and Philadelphia, as both a very good. I'd like to add that Daffin's participates in many great fundraisers offering a great service to the community.
