NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"In Midtown, Dagg Thai opened last November, and skips around different parts of Thailand with its self-described “homey cooking.” Dishes include things like krapow made with wagyu beef, fried or whole steamed branzino, and fried chicken wings with larb seasoning." - will hartman, bryan kim

My husband and I came to Dagg Thai for lunch—we were the first ones in, but it filled up shortly after, which wasn’t surprising because this place is great! The staff was friendly and attentive, and I really appreciated the ambiance. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into every detail—from the décor and well-designed menu to the decorative plates and clean restrooms. Everything felt very well managed. We each had a lunch special, and it was a great price for the quality and amount of food. We also started with the chicken wings, and they were our favorite part of the meal. We were trying to figure out how to recreate them at home—they were that good! We didn’t partake this time, but we’d love to come back at an appropriate hour to enjoy their cocktails!

Absolutely delicious! Fried branzino fish is an incredible dish with many flavors, textures and visually appealing. Scallops bites appetizer perfectly cooked. We ended with taro puff & coconut ice cream. Service was very friendly, attentive & efficient. Highly recommend and can’t wait to eat here again

This place is absolutely amazing! The food is incredibly delicious – it tastes just like what you’d get in Thailand. The flavors are authentic and satisfying. On top of that, the service is outstanding. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel right at home. The restaurant itself is beautiful and very clean, which adds to the overall great dining experience. This is already my third time coming here, and I’ll definitely be back again. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for real Thai food!

We had a great meal at Dagg Thai — the green curry, drunken noodles, and basil chicken were all flavorful and had a nice kick, though the spice was more American-style than traditional Thai. Portions were decent but not very large. The Lard 11 cocktail was excellent, and the modern vibe and quick, friendly service added to the experience. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but lunch specials and some lower-priced dishes offer better value. Overall, a solid spot for tasty Thai food in a stylish setting.

Dagg Thai is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to in the city. It was so good that I’ve been twice in the last seven days. Even before I ordered my drink or my food, I was taken by the beautiful decor and ambience. Everything seems so intentional and purposeful. (Sidenote, the bathrooms were so clean) My server, was NICE, She was not only kind, but she was very accommodating and took her time explaining everything to me. She made sure to check on me consistently. Which I truly appreciate it. The service is wonderful. The last time I went everyone was so thoughtful and considerate. Now to the food for my appetizer, I had the “scallop bite”! It was The perfect bite with different layers of flavor. For my drink, I had “Buay in the USA” A delectable drink with guava and plum, sweet and salty the best way possible. For my entrée I had The crab dish “Kang Pu” with Coconut curry, angel hair noodles, and betel leaf wrapped crab. The portion was fantastic and the flavors just beyond. I can’t Recommend “Dagg Thai” enough! You must come here and have a feast for all your senses!!!

This is one of the best Thai restaurants in New York. It has a warm atmosphere, with a great lunch special and great staff. The Panang curry is rich and creamy with a bit of kick of spice. The Thai Tea is also something to try. It’s also creamy and the right of sweetness. I recommend Dagg.

Yelp
Overall, dining at this restaurant was a delight from start to finish. The delicious food, impeccable service, and charming ambiance made for a memorable experience. I highly recommend the grilled cuttlefish and scallop bite. They're super delicious and flavorful. I also tried the pork jerky which is a traditional Thai marinated fried pork strips. Then, I continued with Pla Tod Kha Min which is fried whole bronzino fillet with turmeric and garlic. You can't go wrong with that. I also got the Nuer Yang, grilled Wagyu steak served with spicy chili dipping paste and the Larb Lamb with is served with larb salad, were so amazing. The Kang Pu crab curry is a burst of Thai flavors. Dagg Haeng noodle was the best noodle that I've ever had, love the crispy pork. After that, I finished my dinner perfectly with taro puff and tamarind sorbet. I would highly recommend this place to all of my friends. I would be back anytime soon to satify my Thai craves.
